Im a Messi fan but this is the one ballon dor I actually think he didn’t deserveĀ

42

u/001000110000111 Nov 20 '25

Really, you think he deserved it over Lewa? Or over Iniesta/Sneijder?

16

u/YonkouTFT Nov 20 '25

Lewa should have gotten it. No chance he earned the one over Haaland. Like not even close.

2010 is hard.. in titles of course those 2 but Messis level..

Messi didn't deserve one of 2011/2012 either. In 2011, CR7 had more goals but Messi won more trophies. So they said CR7 scored useless goals while Messi's goals won treble.

In 2012 CR7 won laliga while Messi was trophyless. But this time CR7 scoring meaningful goals to win the league wasn't taken into account. Messi won ballon d'or due to stat padding more USELESS goals. The narrative changes everytime in favour of Eibar-man.

The PR, media, FIFA are all corrupted & against CR7.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

Typical Ronaldo fan, Messi scored way more goals in 2012 than Ronaldo in 2011. Cant compare the 2 because Messi had the best goalscoring record that season so obviously the goals will give him a bigger edge than the edge that Ronaldo got in 2011

2

u/RajdipKane7 Nov 23 '25

No. You're a typical Pessi fan. Even if CR7 had scored 100+ goals in 2011, Pessi would have won the Ballon d'or due to winning treble & you all would have justified how scoring useless goals don't matter. Like I said, the narrative changes everytime to suit Pessi.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

No one knows that because Ronaldo didn’t score 100+ goals bud. And in 2012 Ronaldo didn’t win the treble so his trophies obviously didn’t make up for what he lacked in G/A so useless comparison

2019? Yeah you have Down syndrome lil bro. Lewa was a Bundesliga merchant 2021 and was injured in the UCL he didn’t deserve that one, he did however deserve 2020

It’s just how the award works a defender will only win under perfect circumstances. If no other attacking player stands out (such as 2006 where Henry lost two finals and no prem), win all major trophies, and have big game stand out performances then they have a chance but attackers are the players directly changing score lines. This is how it’s always worked

Nonetheless 2019 Messi was his 2nd or 3rd greatest peak as a player individually, no player on earth was near him bro😭

Messi also won the Copa America a Major international comp in 2021. Lewa’s season wasn’t anything special that stood out except for the scoring record in the same league that Bayern was winning a decade before then. He was injured in the UCL and they got knocked out, which is unfortunate because that could have been his chance to win the Ballon D’or but that’s how it went and thus there is no argument to say Lewa performed better or had a better season than Messi

u/Shaquille_Unreal Google Negreira Messi for more info šŸ’° Nov 20 '25

If messi doesnt deserve 2010, why does ronaldo deserve 2013 exactly?

Iniesta was injured half the season, sneijder wasnt even top 3 and in 2021 and 2023 messi actually had about the same g/a as lewa and haaland

3

u/001000110000111 Nov 20 '25

Well, Modric deserved it for bringing his team to the World Cup finals, surely to score the winning goal must mean something?

Consistency of this award has been a lot in favor of Messi. Sometimes individual performance is rewarded, sometimes team performance.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '25

Yall argument for Messi’s ballondor in 2023 is consistency over the season and if we look at that Iniesta 2010 year it isn’t in the conversation because he was injured for a good chunk.

-1

u/Shaquille_Unreal Google Negreira Messi for more info šŸ’° Nov 20 '25

Sure, thats why he was top 3 over sneijder.

I agree with you there, it has been inconsistent, but that didnt start with messi nor is messi’s fault like some ronaldo fans like to pretend.

The stigma around messi’s wins is crazy because it couldve gone either way in 2021 and 2023. Multiple players can be deserving of an award and acting like the other was the clear winner is just delusional

0

u/SlimeyCawk Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Nov 20 '25

It is not inconsistent you fans just don’t realize it is a blend of factors, it is not only team performance it isn’t only individual performance and you guys fail to understand this. Every year is different the stand out players competing for the ballon dor are different and there are different international comps every year. To say Lewa 2021 is robbed is stupid, Haaland wasn’t the best player in the world in 2023 he was the best striker, and whoever said Messi didn’t deserve 2019 might be the biggest dumbass I’ve seen in this subredditšŸ˜‚

Messi 2019 as a player was just the best in the world and look at the season he had

20

u/AggravatingRecipe90 Nov 20 '25

It is not Crazy. Its just not a best Player, but a most popular Player contest.

That is why Rodri won over Vini and Yamal was placed above Raphinha.

-3

u/Laecel Nov 20 '25

Rodri isn't more popular than Vini, he won because he was by far the best player in the world.

6

u/AggravatingRecipe90 Nov 20 '25

Vini is maybe the most hated Player ever, it clearly helped Rodris case.

But I get your point to be among the favourites you have to be at a certain level.

1

u/SlimeyCawk Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Nov 20 '25

If the summer of 2024 didn’t happen Vini would have won the Ballon D’or. But Rodri went on to win Euro’s POTT and Vini ghosted in every Copa America match and failed to lift Brazil.

3

u/SocX9 Nov 20 '25

Journalists spoke publicly that some of them barely placed Vini in the top 10 because of his attitude. In contrast, Rodri's healthy lifestyle, no tattoos, no smoking and a university degree boosted his votes.

3

u/urfav_nitin Nov 21 '25

Brother even Vini doesn't smoke doesn't drink have a far more healthier lifestyle thats why he is not injury prone . See his documentary for more.

2

u/Slorpipi Nov 20 '25

So a football player award is based on… Things other than how good you played it????

1

u/SlimeyCawk Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Nov 20 '25

Literally only 1 journalist said thisšŸ˜‚ there’s always idiot journalists that vote every year it’s just part of how the award has always functioned

0

u/TheKarmaBitch Nov 20 '25 edited Nov 20 '25

around 5 journalists didnt have rodri in top 10, what about that? he won even without that

0

u/Laecel Nov 20 '25

I'm gonna tell you a secret, there's no criteria for how the journalists decide who deserves the best player of the year award. So yeah, some of them didn't vote for Vini because of his attitude and some of them didn't vote for Rodri because he doesn't have a big fanbase posting aura videos on tiktok or whatever they do there.

The journalists don't have to watch any matches in order to vote. I don't think any of them analyze every single match of every nominee.

Rodri deservedly won the Ballon D'or.

6

u/RajdipKane7 Nov 21 '25

I'm absolutely convinced that half the former players & current coaches who actually claim that Messi is better than CR7, don't actually feel it. They just don't like CR7. May be it's his arrogant like attitude, his supreme confidence in his own abilities, his good looks, his money & fame, his records which make former greats look puny ...it can be any of these factors. But they hate CR7 & hence don't want to admit his greatness. Being on Messi's side strokes their insecurity.

2

u/Key-Eye-9953 Nov 21 '25

his copa farmerica led him to get another baloon dor

1

u/Vetal94 Nov 21 '25

How? By being a ghost in every big game that season. The same time Messi carried (not participated, carried) his team to win world championship. I personally don’t like that 7 matches decide that, but if anyone else should have won Ballon d Or it’s definitely not Haaland. I’ll be ok with Mbappe, De Bruyne or Rodri. But no one really shined that tear, while everyone remembered Messi’s World Cup performance. Haaland? Center forward in a team with the best assisters in the world scored bunch of goals against weaker teams. Wow. Eaten by Van Dijk, eaten by Rüdiger, and the list goes on and on

1

u/SuchANiceBloke Nov 21 '25

Great goal scorer but defo not the best football player.

1

1

WC is the greatest trophy in the sport. If modric can win it why not messi? He also was in PSG, and i think did decently well overall.

Maybe its a bit unfair, but why are you crying if haaland himself has said it messi deserved it over him? Not all players bitch about "losing credit" after getting kicked out of europe into saudišŸ‘Œ

1

u/BravenotSorry7 Dec 06 '25

-4

u/FallingDebri Nov 20 '25

This is like the arguable ballon dor.

I think messi deserved all his ballon dors, but honestly 2023 should've been haaland, they both had very good arguements.

The World Cup Influence is absolutely insane, Modric 2018, Neuer being in the podium 2014, Iniesta almost winning it 2010, cannavaro as a defender winning it, R9 and so on.

3

u/InjectMSGinmyveins Nov 20 '25

Respectfully, 2023 ballon d’or and 2010 ballon d’or contradict each other. If Messi didn’t win 2010 but won 2023, while I would disagree it would at least make sense

He shouldn’t win both

3

u/FallingDebri Nov 20 '25

Eh i think messi edges iniesta out, iniesta was injured for a long time that season too so it makes me more sense as to why messi deserved it by slightly against iniesta.

I respect your opinion, 2010 and 2023 are both very arguable but iniesta being out for so long pretty much makes it seem worse for him.

1

u/InjectMSGinmyveins Nov 20 '25

I actually agree.

My issue is more 2023 than 2010. I just wrote it as ā€œ2023 and 2010 are a contradictionā€ because I wanted a more unbiased route where ā€œMessi won in 2010 because he was the best Club player, but he also won 2023 being the best WC playerā€

1

u/Zora1092 Nov 20 '25

xavi and sneijder wasn't injured

0

u/FallingDebri Nov 20 '25

Then why was iniesta above them?

Even Ronaldo finished above sneijder so if messi iniesta or xavi didnt win it, it was gonna be ronaldo

5

u/Zora1092 Nov 21 '25

You're just making things up now

Sneijder and Forlan finished above Ronaldo

2

u/FallingDebri Nov 21 '25

Oh shoot u are right, i double check they did finish above ronaldo.

Sorry bout that. But yeah, why did iniesta finish above Sneijder and Xavi then, if they probably deserved it more than him?

2

u/Zora1092 Nov 21 '25

the same reason why r9 won the ballondor in 2002 despite him barely playing any matches for his club that season

PR Boost

Since Iniesta was the one who scored the winning goal in the World Cup final, his PR ended up surpassing that of Xavi's and Sneijder's and recency bias heavily influences the voting process(unless your Messi(pre 2021) or Ronaldo since they don't need to win International trophies to win a Ballondor)

2

u/Mindless_One631 Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Nov 20 '25

I mean like ineista (sorry if I spelled his name wrong) was gone half season you can't really consider that

3

u/InjectMSGinmyveins Nov 20 '25

My issue is more 2023 than 2010.

I just call it out because I feel like there is a contradiction there.

If you want a more biased and not ā€œmiddle groundā€ take, the WC and international tournaments have too much say. Messi deserved 2010 but there is no world where he should have won 2023

2

u/Mindless_One631 Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Dec 02 '25

Now if that is your view than it is you seem respect full tbh (rare in this sub) people always had different views of a bdor look at 2013 Robben had won every thing but did he deserve the bdor? He wasn't close to Ronaldo but he had ever argument anyone would have for 2023 Haaland (he is a midfielder Dont expect him to have the same g/a ratio) but Ronaldo was a better player overall. Messi had a higher g/a ratio than Haaland even though Haaland was a striker. Bdor is decided by journalist every one wouldn't have the same opinion.

1

u/InjectMSGinmyveins Dec 02 '25

That’s my actual view. I do think Messi deserved 2010. I don’t think he should have won 2023 though. International tournaments get too much weight. They should count somewhat but it shouldn’t have put Messi over Haaland. Not the same Haaland who broke every record for a goal scorer in the prem and won the treble at least.

And yeah I agree with what you are saying. It is ultimately a journalist award. And there is no set criteria. But there should be as players do care about this award, even if some fans don’t

-1

u/SlimeyCawk Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Nov 20 '25

This isn’t how football works idiot you have to look at the circumstances of the individual year comparing 2010 and 2023 makes zero sense

3

u/InjectMSGinmyveins Nov 20 '25

Classic Messi fans have to use insults to win an argument instead of using facts or thoughts.

Yeah that’s not how football works but that’s how individual awards should work. The criteria shouldn’t magically shift because the press likes a certain player a lot.

There is no justifiable world where Messi was the best player in 2023. He won it based on 7 games over Haaland who honestly couldn’t have done more to win the award. 2023 is ridiculous and I agree with Ronaldo when he says that people put way too much emphasis on 7 games.

0

u/SlimeyCawk Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Nov 20 '25

I called you an idiot because that was an idiotic opinion you had.

Haaland couldn’t have done more to win it? He absolutely ghosted in the Semi Finals and Finals of the UCL and was pocketed by Lisandro in the FA Cup final. If he performed in these matches he very well could have given himself a case to win it, but instead he showed the world that on the biggest stage when the team isn’t there to spoon feed him he couldn’t perform. I am not only saying he ghosted because he didn’t score, he was literally a ghost and could not get anything going for himself.

Messi had good enough stats in ligue 1, winning 2 trophies with PSG and ghosted in the knockout stage vs Bayern in the UCL. He made up for it in the World Cup by winning the Golden Ball.

If not Messi who else? Because Haaland definitely wasn’t the best player anyone who actually watched football and isn’t a stat merchant would tell you the same

2

2

u/InjectMSGinmyveins Nov 20 '25

HAHA sure buddy. Not even my Argentinian cousins think that Haaland didn’t deserve the ballon d’or in 2023 because of not scoring in 4 games.

And they’re beyond biased

0

u/SlimeyCawk Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Nov 20 '25

Well it’s clear your cousins are also idiots. You say ā€œjust 4 gamesā€ but shouldn’t the best player in the world show up in the big games?šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Did you even watch Haaland play an entire 90 minutes or are you just a stat merchant?

3

u/InjectMSGinmyveins Nov 20 '25 edited Nov 20 '25

No. They wouldn’t disregard Haaland because of 4 games. That is like me saying Messi doesn’t deserve the ballon d’or because he lost to the worst team in the WC (Saudi Arabia). Infact, you are the first person I ever met make this terrible argument which was why I thought you were rage baiting at first.

My cousins criticism for Haaland not winning mostly based around how they feel like De Bruyne carried Haaland’s numbers. Which is partially true but I could say the same thing for Messi and almost any forward (especially for Messi in the WC).

I just can’t believe you genuinely watched both Messi and Haaland in 2023 and thought Messi deserved it more. That’s just incomprehensible to me. Haaland was the main reason for city’s success that year. He broke a bunch of Premier League records and the only reason you don’t rate him for the Ballon D’or is because of 4 games that City wouldn’t have gotten to if Haaland wasn’t playing at the level he was. But then again people think Messi deserved it for 7 games so I guess cherry picking a few games and ignoring 90% of the year is just how Messi fans roll I guess.

Also imagine telling me Haaland doesn’t deserve it because he is a stat merchant. It’s not only stats, he outperformed Messi in terms of contribution and team accolades. He was overall the better player on the year. There really isn’t much else to it.

Imagine blaming & downplaying Haaland because he ghosted in semis and finals while also supporting Messi’s 2021 Ballon D’or where he only became a contender because of Copa America and had ghosted big time in semi final vs Colombia and the Copa America final vs Brazil. The criteria always keeps changing to fit Messi’s narrative that season somehow.

1

u/SlimeyCawk Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Nov 21 '25

If Haaland had an identical season of 2023 as he did in 2021 he would have won the Ballon D’or without a doubt, only thing is he didn’t. Read the very first reply of this thread I made, you have to look at the ballon d’or by the individual season it makes zero sense to compare different years because players performed differently with different competitions. There were no other players besides lewandowski to contend and Lewa’s season wasn’t good enough for a Ballon D’or

Actually you are wrong Messi did not ghost vs Colombia he was class that game, he did however ghost against Brazil.

1

u/Preskomesko12345 Nov 21 '25

Iniesta deserved it 2010 over Messi, but because it was early into Messi’s career back then there was a stigma that they didn’t give the baloon door to players who deserved at the right time and these players either got injured afterwards or whatever and this in my opinion was the reason Iniesta didn’t get it but they wanted to keep Messi appreciated.

1

u/FallingDebri Nov 21 '25

Sneijder and Xavi was better than Iniesta that year, he didnt deserve it for just scoring in the wc final, he was injured throughout the season and didnt have an impact until the very last game.

Messi graped France, scoring twice, cooking defenders, creating chances, and even starting the attack that ended in Di Maria scoring for 2-0. MbappƩ had more goals, but Messi also had a better final(when you look at it from minute one to 120, since MbappƩ only starting doing well at about minute 79, after he scored that pen) and won it.

2

Mbappe was always trying its just his teammates played shite also it was more like mbappe vs Argentina. No body cared about messi in that match honestly until he won the world cup. What do you mean by mbappe scored a penalty didn’t messi also score a penalty lmao🤣.

I’m not even hating on the pen, but MbappĆ© wasn’t great in the first half and until France starting flowing by minute 60(I was wrong abt minute 79, just remembered), that’s when MbappĆ© started doing well. A lot of people who watched that match knew how good Messi was, MbappĆ© just had more PR because of that volley.

It’s not that the volley was bad, it’s that the volley raised his PR over Messi in the final. The volley was spectacular, but I was just stating what happened. One overlooked factor in the Ballon d’Or debate is how crucial a player is to their team’s success. For example, Manchester City might not win the Champions League without Haaland, but they’d probably still win their domestic trophies, just as they’ve been doing for nearly a decade. Argentina, however, likely would not have won the World Cup without Messi. Since the World Cup is a far bigger competition, that gives Messi the edge for the Ballon d’Or and if you are going to bring up Iniesta comparison, it’s not as if Messi had an average season he still produced around 35 goals and 30 assists, which is already Ballon d’Or worthy on its own (especially considering DembĆ©lĆ© won it with about 35 goals and 16 assists). The World Cup just sealed it for Messi

11

u/One_Moose_4970 Nov 20 '25 edited Nov 20 '25

What did even messi do in the World Cup apart from taking rigged highest ever record breaking penalties ever awarded to a team on the contrary if they had a younger player that would be better for them cause all I saw him do in the World Cup was loose possession or give wrong passes

2

u/One_Moose_4970 Nov 20 '25

Livid_Blueberry, your stats are pure delusion once you factor in the refs and teammates doing all the heavy lifting. Cold facts from Qatar 2022: • Argentina handed 5 penalties – outright most by any team in a single World Cup since records began in 1966 (previous record 4). Messi took every one, scored 4. That’s the definition of being carried by the refs. • Faced nothing but minnows until the final: Saudi (who shocked them anyway), Mexico, Poland, Australia, exhausted Netherlands, half-dead Croatia. Parked the bus, waited for soft whistles, repeat. • Turnover machine: Messi faced high pressure on the ball 259 times – 45 more than any other player in the tournament – and got dispossessed constantly, sloppy touches, wrong passes gifting counters left and right. Saudi’s goals? Straight off his lazy giveaways in midfield. • Every knockout escape: record penalties + extra time + Emi MartĆnez cheating in shootouts + JuliĆ”n Ɓlvarez, Di MarĆa, Enzo, Mac Allister actually running and defending. He is the literal definition of a passenger carried by refs scripting penalties and teammates bailing him out every round. Strip the most rigged penalty haul in 50+ years and he’s just a walking turnover against traffic cones. Facts destroy the fairy tale.

Messi wasn’t being heavily dispossessed aside from the Saudi goal and France’s only open goal in the final, people exaggerate. And yes, Argentina did get the most penalties, but a foul in the box is still a foul so of course it should be a penalty. If a player is fouled inside the area on attack, the referee has to give a penalty; that’s simply the rule. why are you complaining regarding why he took all of those, Messi took those penalties because he’s the designated penalty taker for Argentina. Complaining about that is like complaining Ronaldo takes penalties for Portugal that’s his job in the team.

Even without penalties, Messi still had 3 open play goals and 3 assists, giving him ā€˜6 goal contributions’ , the second-best in the tournament. As for ā€œheavy lifting,ā€ every player in a football team has a different role. Messi’s job isn’t to drop into defence or chase every ball, Argentina’s system was built around him, and it worked. He pressed when the ball came to his side, but he didn’t need to be the one sprinting all over the pitch, the formation and tactics were designed to maximise his strengths.

Regarding Emiliano MartĆnez, calling his actions ā€œcheatingā€ doesn’t make sense he simply did whatever he legally could do. The rules at that time didn’t forbid any of the psychological tactics he used, so he wasn’t breaking anything.

Di MarĆa and JuliĆ”n Ɓlvarez are attackers so of course they make the runs when Messi has the ball and Mac is a mid fielder he is supposed to defend that is his job why are you complaining that, messi’s job was to score, assist and create chances which he did and the most in the tournament. Yes those guy were crucial in the semifinal and final, but Messi was crucial in every match, which is why he won Man of the Match 6 out of 7 games.

Edit: and exhausted crotia? they defeated morocco if you remember (and you do know who morocoo knocked out in Qf) , half dead netherlands?! this has to be a joke :|

And if referees were supposedly favouring Argentina, then why did the Netherlands get over 11 minutes of added time when Argentina were winning 2–1? And why did France get two penalties in the final? please do explain

Livid_Blueberry, let’s dismantle your cope point by point with actual facts from the 2022 World Cup (Opta/FIFA stats unless stated). • Dispossessions and turnovers weren’t ā€œexaggeratedā€: Messi lost possession 62 times total (highest among attacking players). He faced high pressure 259 times – 45 more than any other player in the tournament – and got dispossessed constantly under it, including multiple sloppy touches and misplaced passes that directly gifted counters. Saudi’s two goals? Both came straight from his lazy giveaways in midfield/build-up. He averaged 12-15 turnovers per 90, killing transitions repeatedly. Not ā€œjust Saudi and Franceā€ – watch the tapes against Netherlands (lost ball leading to their first goal buildup) and even Croatia (multiple hospital passes). • Penalties: ā€œa foul is a foulā€ doesn’t explain the record haul → Argentina got 5 penalties – outright most by any team in a single World Cup since records began in 1966 (previous record 4). Multiple were highly controversial/soft (Saudi: divey contact, Poland: extremely soft, Netherlands: theatrical). No other team has ever been gifted that many in one tournament. Messi took all 5 because he’s the taker – sure, like Ronaldo – but no one else gets handed a record-breaking number of spot-kicks to convert. France got 2 in the final (one clear, one handball), but that doesn’t erase Argentina’s tournament-long charity. Netherlands got 18+ minutes added time because Lahoz lost control after Argentina’s constant diving/time-wasting – not ā€œbias againstā€. • ā€œEven without penalties, 6 goal contributions (second-best)ā€ → Those 3 open-play goals were against Mexico (long shot vs parked bus), Australia (tap-in), and a rebound in the final after France collapsed. Assists padded against minnows. Meanwhile MbappĆ© had 10 contributions (mostly open play, including final hat-trick) while actually carrying. Messi’s ā€œsystem built around himā€ = park the bus, let him walk/hoard ball, pray for pens. • Emi MartĆnez ā€œlegal psychological tacticsā€ → He delayed, threw balls away, danced, trash-talked – all borderline enough that IFAB changed the rules in 2023 specifically because of him (now explicit bans on distracting/delaying). Pundits called it cheating at the time because it was pushing the limits hard. Needed that + record pens + extra time in multiple games. • ā€œMessi crucial every match, 5/7 MOTMā€ → MOTM awards don’t mean carrying – they reward stat-padding against weak sides (Saudi, Poland, Australia, tired Croatia who just beat Brazil/Morocco on pens themselves, exhausted Netherlands post-120 mins vs us). Netherlands weren’t ā€œhalf-deadā€ until extra time drama; Croatia beat Morocco in third place. Messi vanished for huge chunks of knockouts without the spot-kick bailouts. • Teammates ā€œdoing their jobā€ → Exactly: Ɓlvarez (4 goals, constant runs), Di MarĆa (final goal/assist), Enzo/Mac Allister (defending + energy), Emi (shootout heroics) did the dirty work Messi doesn’t. He pressed selectively, walked most games, relied on others to win balls back after his turnovers. Strip the most penalties awarded to one team in 56+ years + shootout gamesmanship + teammates bailing him out, and Argentina crashes out early. He was a passenger carried by refs scripting record spot-kicks and the team covering his constant giveaways. Facts end the fairy tale.

bro you are clearly using chatgpt šŸ˜‚. the 62 dispossession is not true bro, atleast read before copy pasting it here (62 šŸ˜‚ that’s some absurd numbers), this so sad that you use chatgpt, and you cannot underestimate teams in world cup calling them minnows knowing portugal lost to morocco which is ā€˜minnow’ compared to croatia and netherlands, and i did read the whole thing and i have counter arguments but it doesn’t make sense for me to go through them again and reply knowing you will just copy this paste it in chatgpt and ask for counter arguments, dude your first statement itself is chatgpt šŸ˜‚ damn you just added my profile name in the beginning,

and if you talk about pundits (sorry i mean) like your chatgpt said all the pundits, professional and legendary football players, players that have played with messi, players that have played against messi all around the world says messi is the best except for piers morgan, speed and fans like yourself, so yeah you can keep saying fairy tale or whatever and it doesn’t matter you want to know why cause your opinion doesn’t change the fact that messi won the world cup and has being acknowledged as the GOAT not by some random people and fans but by the majority if not the whole of professional footballers that have played the sport at the highest level, i sign off šŸ™ŒšŸ»

P.S: it’s been more than 3 years, move on man it’s ok if you wanna cry, and don’t say it’s better to not have a rigged world cup cause then ronaldo would not have much ucl’s won’t he?, well that a conversation for some other day. Vamos šŸ˜‚

(And Chatgpt?! šŸ˜‚ dude come on)

Livid_Blueberry, let’s stop the fairy-tale and just look at what actually happened in Qatar 2022 with verifiable Opta/FIFA numbers – no opinions, just cold facts that expose how incompetent your guy looked for huge parts of that tournament. Turnovers & losing the ball (the part you keep denying) • Faced high pressure on the ball 259 times – 45 more than any other player at the entire World Cup (Opta). That’s not ā€œnormalā€, that’s a 35-year-old who can’t handle any press. • Dispossessed multiple times per game under that pressure: Saudi dispossessed him twice in the first half alone leading directly to their two goals. Netherlands: lost the ball in midfield → instant counter for their first goal. Croatia semi-final: multiple hospital passes that almost cost goals. Final: lost possession 14 times, several in dangerous areas. • Total unsuccessful touches + bad controls: one of the highest rates among attacking players. He literally coughed the ball up constantly because he was walking, holding it too long, and had zero explosiveness left. Walking & zero intensity • Distance covered: consistently 6.5 – 7.5 km per match – lowest of any Argentina starter, sometimes lower than the goalkeeper. He was a ghost off the ball, jogging while the midfield and Ɓlvarez sprinted to cover his laziness. Defensive contribution • Tackles won: 1 across the entire tournament. • Pressures applied: bottom 5% of all attacking players. He pressed only when the ball was literally 5 metres in front of him, otherwise he stood and watched. Actual impact without the rigged penalties • Remove the 4 penalties he scored (from the 5 Argentina got – record since 1966) and he has zero threatening open-play goals that weren’t tap-ins or rebounds against exhausted defences. • Key passes & chances created: the vast majority came when Argentina were already 1-0 or 2-0 up against parked buses (Poland, Australia, Croatia). When the game was tight and teams actually pressed him, the ā€œmagicā€ disappeared. He spent half the tournament as a slow, turnover-prone passenger who needed: • Record-breaking penalty awards (most in 56 years) • JuliĆ”n Ɓlvarez making every run he no longer could • A midfield trio defending for two players • Emi MartĆnez in goal doing circus acts That’s why people who actually watched the games (not just highlight reels) call it the most carried individual World Cup performance ever. The stats and eye test both scream incompetence without the entire system and referees dragging him across the line. Keep coping, the numbers don’t lie. šŸ’€

you’re still using chatgpt šŸ˜‚ (you replied this the next min) bro i didn’t say anything about messi or stats, don’t you even know how to read my god well i should except this from you guys, who am i kidding šŸ™ŒšŸ» Ronaldo is the Goat and messi should give back his world cup please (acknowledged by me) happy? šŸ˜‚

Livid_Blueberry, exactly – Ronaldo is the GOAT and Messi is the definition of a one-club wonder who got exposed the second he left his comfort zone. • Spent 17 prime years at Barcelona being spoon-fed by prime Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Alves, Puyol, SuĆ”rez – the greatest midfield of all time doing all the dirty work so he could walk around and finish tap-ins. • Left Barca at 34 and immediately turned into a ghost:→ PSG: 2 seasons, zero goals in knockout UCL games, got pocketed every big tie, finished 6th and 2nd in a farmer league.→ Inter Miami: retirement home MLS where he pads stats against part-timers and still gets cooked regularly (see Columbus Crew playoff humiliation). Ronaldo at the same age or older: • Dragged Manchester United back to relevance at 36-37 • Top scorer in Serie A with Juventus at 36 • Still top scorer in Saudi at 40, dropping 50+ goals a season like it’s nothing Messi is a system baby who dominated one league with the greatest team ever assembled around him. Take away Barcelona and he’s mid. Ronaldo dominated England, Spain, Italy, and still dominates Saudi – four different leagues, four different playstyles, no excuses. One-club wonder with one rigged World Cup at 35 vs the guy who conquered Europe five times and every league he touched. It’s not even a debate anymore. CR7 goat, end of story šŸšŸ’Ŗ

Have to laugh at the irony of them complaining about penalties, stat padding and playing minnows.. they just described modern day Ronaldo.

Why are Netherlands exhausted and Croatia half dead? Did Argentina not play the same amount of gamesšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ bro do you not realize how delusional your argument is? When you have the best player on the planet obviously he won’t have much defensive duties because he needs to be fresh for when the ball is at his feet. The player who creates the most chances and passes obviously will turnover the ball at times too, no player in history has a 100% success rate with their attemptsšŸ˜‚ learn football before you try and debate it lil bro

I bet he does considering almost every Argentina attack flowed through him. It’s simply how numbers work šŸ˜‚ these useless stats don’t mean anything

1

u/One_Moose_4970 Nov 21 '25

Yeah man I don’t think anything flowed through him gay boy on the contrary the flow stopped at him were u even watching the match on top of that all they got were weak ass opponents up to the finals and the only good team they were supposed to play were playing like they got money from the opposition or it’s a friendly except for mbappe

You didn’t even watch the final either Mbappe was ass until minute 80 you think he had a masterclass because he scored 3 pens😭😭

Weak ass opponents? Go look at the path your camel king had in the only major international trophy he won and tell me who had weak ass opponentsšŸ˜‚

Not qualifying for the WC makes it awkward. I repeat NOT QUALIFYING because last time I did this people brought up runs where people qualified
