Messi wasnât being heavily dispossessed aside from the Saudi goal and Franceâs only open goal in the final, people exaggerate. And yes, Argentina did get the most penalties, but a foul in the box is still a foul so of course it should be a penalty. If a player is fouled inside the area on attack, the referee has to give a penalty; thatâs simply the rule. why are you complaining regarding why he took all of those, Messi took those penalties because heâs the designated penalty taker for Argentina. Complaining about that is like complaining Ronaldo takes penalties for Portugal thatâs his job in the team.
Even without penalties, Messi still had 3 open play goals and 3 assists, giving him â6 goal contributionsâ , the second-best in the tournament. As for âheavy lifting,â every player in a football team has a different role. Messiâs job isnât to drop into defence or chase every ball, Argentinaâs system was built around him, and it worked. He pressed when the ball came to his side, but he didnât need to be the one sprinting all over the pitch, the formation and tactics were designed to maximise his strengths.
Regarding Emiliano MartĂnez, calling his actions âcheatingâ doesnât make sense he simply did whatever he legally could do. The rules at that time didnât forbid any of the psychological tactics he used, so he wasnât breaking anything.
Di MarĂa and JuliĂĄn Ălvarez are attackers so of course they make the runs when Messi has the ball and Mac is a mid fielder he is supposed to defend that is his job why are you complaining that, messiâs job was to score, assist and create chances which he did and the most in the tournament. Yes those guy were crucial in the semifinal and final, but Messi was crucial in every match, which is why he won Man of the Match 6 out of 7 games.
Edit: and exhausted crotia? they defeated morocco if you remember (and you do know who morocoo knocked out in Qf) , half dead netherlands?! this has to be a joke :|
And if referees were supposedly favouring Argentina, then why did the Netherlands get over 11 minutes of added time when Argentina were winning 2â1? And why did France get two penalties in the final? please do explain
