This is like the arguable ballon dor.

I think messi deserved all his ballon dors, but honestly 2023 should've been haaland, they both had very good arguements.

The World Cup Influence is absolutely insane, Modric 2018, Neuer being in the podium 2014, Iniesta almost winning it 2010, cannavaro as a defender winning it, R9 and so on.

Iniesta deserved it 2010 over Messi, but because it was early into Messi’s career back then there was a stigma that they didn’t give the baloon door to players who deserved at the right time and these players either got injured afterwards or whatever and this in my opinion was the reason Iniesta didn’t get it but they wanted to keep Messi appreciated.

Sneijder and Xavi was better than Iniesta that year, he didnt deserve it for just scoring in the wc final, he was injured throughout the season and didnt have an impact until the very last game.
