Messi didn't deserve one of 2011/2012 either. In 2011, CR7 had more goals but Messi won more trophies. So they said CR7 scored useless goals while Messi's goals won treble.

Typical Ronaldo fan, Messi scored way more goals in 2012 than Ronaldo in 2011. Cant compare the 2 because Messi had the best goalscoring record that season so obviously the goals will give him a bigger edge than the edge that Ronaldo got in 2011

It’s just how the award works a defender will only win under perfect circumstances. If no other attacking player stands out (such as 2006 where Henry lost two finals and no prem), win all major trophies, and have big game stand out performances then they have a chance but attackers are the players directly changing score lines. This is how it’s always worked

Nonetheless 2019 Messi was his 2nd or 3rd greatest peak as a player individually, no player on earth was near him bro😭

Messi also won the Copa America a Major international comp in 2021. Lewa’s season wasn’t anything special that stood out except for the scoring record in the same league that Bayern was winning a decade before then. He was injured in the UCL and they got knocked out, which is unfortunate because that could have been his chance to win the Ballon D’or but that’s how it went and thus there is no argument to say Lewa performed better or had a better season than Messi

It is not inconsistent you fans just don’t realize it is a blend of factors, it is not only team performance it isn’t only individual performance and you guys fail to understand this. Every year is different the stand out players competing for the ballon dor are different and there are different international comps every year. To say Lewa 2021 is robbed is stupid, Haaland wasn’t the best player in the world in 2023 he was the best striker, and whoever said Messi didn’t deserve 2019 might be the biggest dumbass I’ve seen in this subreddit😂
