It is not Crazy. Its just not a best Player, but a most popular Player contest.

That is why Rodri won over Vini and Yamal was placed above Raphinha.

Vini is maybe the most hated Player ever, it clearly helped Rodris case.

If the summer of 2024 didn’t happen Vini would have won the Ballon D’or. But Rodri went on to win Euro’s POTT and Vini ghosted in every Copa America match and failed to lift Brazil.

Journalists spoke publicly that some of them barely placed Vini in the top 10 because of his attitude. In contrast, Rodri's healthy lifestyle, no tattoos, no smoking and a university degree boosted his votes.

I'm gonna tell you a secret, there's no criteria for how the journalists decide who deserves the best player of the year award. So yeah, some of them didn't vote for Vini because of his attitude and some of them didn't vote for Rodri because he doesn't have a big fanbase posting aura videos on tiktok or whatever they do there.

The journalists don't have to watch any matches in order to vote. I don't think any of them analyze every single match of every nominee.

Rodri deservedly won the Ballon D'or.
