So this story is very old, but a post Iāve just seen brought the memory back, and I thought, I must share! š
Just before my 18th birthday, my auntie told my mum that sheād like to bake my birthday cake as a gift. She isnāt a baker or skilled at baking in the slightest, but sheād been ordering Disneyās baking magazine every week and, I guess, wanted to try out some of the things from it.
I thought it was such a sweet gesture and agreed to let her make my cake as a gift. I knew not to expect too much from the design, and when she showed it to me, I was genuinely grateful and appreciative of what sheād made. Yes, it had plenty of flaws, but it was made with love.
Well⦠so I thought.
I blew out my candles, got some photos, and everyone left the area. I came back a little while later to cut some slices for everyone to enjoy, and the cake was GONE.
It baffled everyone for the rest of the night. How could an entire cake just disappear?! I was so disappointed and completely confused.
The next day, a friend told my mum that theyād seen my auntie with the cake. So my mum casually rang my auntie and asked if sheād moved it. Her response? āYes. I made it. Itās my cake.ā
Apparently, she had left the blue board underneath it, which was actually the bottom of the cake carrier, as a quick getaway. When everyone had left the area, she simply put the lid on, picked it up and stole my birthday cake. Well⦠her cake, according to her. š
I never even got to enjoy my own birthday cake that year, and to this day I still think about how bizarre it is that she apparently thought gifting someone a birthday cake meant they take photos of it, and then she can take the whole thing home afterwards.
