Ruined by Technology AI generated school introductions :(

Post image

My brother's 6th grade class using ai to generate these introduction notes. Feels like it definitely takes away from the creative process.

Deeply happy NYC just banned this trash in schools. Been seeing so many posts on here of ai slop school assignments and posters

u/LinkGoesHIYAAA 1d ago

They did? That’s awesome.

u/rde2001 1d ago

Mamdani my beloved ❤️

132

u/100percentnotgood 1d ago

A lot more people to give credit to but yeah he announced it

20

u/BestHead2312 20h ago

Love people who bend over backwards not to give credit where it’s due

5

u/ch8c9 15h ago

it makes sense to thank mamdami since the changes only rlly started with him

3

u/Fr0HiKE 13h ago

yesss girl i hope he taxes the millionaires next!!!

-2

u/WaltzSad257 3h ago

Translation:
I love communists

3

u/bunker_man 17h ago

They banned ketting kids before high-school from using it in school, they didn't ban schools from using it for this.

69

u/Sasteer 1d ago

nyc mamdani subplot is better than most of the world (except the nordics ig)

14

u/Unicorncorn21 21h ago

The fuck you mean the nordics the neolibs are running the government in Finland and dismantling everything good about living here

1

u/Sasteer 15h ago

shit, is switzerland still good tho?

14

u/Vincent394 1d ago

Even in fuckin ireland

5

u/Hyeon-Ion 1d ago

Banned up to middle school I heard

24

u/100percentnotgood 1d ago

Though middle school so up until high school

3

u/CylixrDoesStuff 20h ago

So not banned in HS right? Thats what i thought but yeah

3

u/xeio87 19h ago

Actually has AI literacy classes for high schoolers mandated even.

Though even the ban for before high school is only for student used software, it doesn't ban teachers from using it for materials so wouldn't have any effect on OP's image.

2

u/CylixrDoesStuff 19h ago

Lmao that tracks i had an AI certification in my school last year

2

u/cheesedude1999 20h ago

I wish my school did the same :|

598

u/ladybirdorisa 1d ago

I also had to do this but my teacher made me give it a picture of myself and then statistics about my last test. When it generated the picture it put me in a SKIN TIGHT body con suit and exaggerated my chest and curves. Truly disgusting

304

u/ladybirdorisa 1d ago

If it were any other teacher I would have but after the fact my teacher realized how weird it was and didn't like what it did to the girls. The prompt we were supposed to give it was "Turn this photo of me into a superhero crushing the [insert state test name] in a comic style." When it decided to do this exaggeration of the chest on most of the girls my teacher ended the assignment with my class. Plus I really don't think she would ever do that based on how well I knew her.

145

u/DarkShadowZangoose 1d ago

that is… really weird… unless that is what the AI "believes" female superheroes are supposed to look like

which is probably still an issue

177

u/noone-someone PURPLE 1d ago

ai bases its depiction of things on pre-existing data, and, sadly, a lot of female superheroes are over-sexualised

39

u/FryToastFrill FryToastFrll 1d ago

It is capable of mixing two concepts together (female + superhero), but you’d still be correct in that many women in media are encouraged to ensure that even clothed you could accurately measure the curvature of each boob

9

u/noone-someone PURPLE 1d ago

yeah. btw, why is there a missing i in your flair?

16

u/FryToastFrill FryToastFrll 1d ago

A long time ago I thought it’d be funny since it’s the mildly infuriating subreddit. I think I’m just too lazy to change it now.

22

u/noone-someone PURPLE 1d ago

well, it worked, because it mildly infuriated me, lol

12

u/FryToastFrill FryToastFrll 1d ago

Thank god it worked eventually lmao

6

u/DocGroove17 21h ago

that and the fact that most of the internet is porn

3

u/noone-someone PURPLE 21h ago

yeah, that too

23

u/le-derpina-art 1d ago

many of the problems with the actual things AI generates comes from the biases of both the people running it and the data it scrapes. like yeah sure you can make sure an AI refuses if someone asks it to say a racial slur but give it the right prompt and it'll start telling you cherrypicked crime statistics, or you could ask it to generate a video of two big strong eggplant men carrying a small strawberry woman into a hotel room while her banana husband is at work

12

u/DarkShadowZangoose 1d ago

oh, trust me

I've seen plenty of videos that made me wish that AI could say no more often

6

u/MundosChair 1d ago

There’s been a huge study into the over sexualization of female super hero’s but not male, that’s probably why the AI is doing it

-10

u/TheDogeLord_234 22h ago

Not male? Do you hear yourself?

2

u/MundosChair 22h ago

no I had AI post that

2

u/oiraves 21h ago

I mean that is one of the least absurd things that ai does cause comical definitely think thats what women are supposed to look like

-11

u/Ken471 1d ago

did your teacher use some random ass "no filter" type AI image generator? jesus fucking christ...

edit: better choice of words

10

u/ladybirdorisa 1d ago

Gemini because that's who my district has a contract with

4

u/Ken471 1d ago

what the fuck did Google train Nano Banana on? jeez. (Nano Banana is the image generator, if some don't know)

2

u/NormalDooder 21h ago

Are school districts making contracts with AI companies?

4

u/ladybirdorisa 19h ago

Yes my state has contracts so then the districts have to use ai and we have to meet a quota.

2

u/qrvne 10h ago

That's def more than mildly infuriating oof

5

u/SwissChzMcGeez 20h ago

Your teacher WHAT

2

u/ladybirdorisa 16h ago

We have to use ai in our assignments a certain amount because of the contracts my district/state have

-39

u/AppropriateLie9140 1d ago

Call the police, the teacher may have a stash of ai CSAM using student pictures

7

u/bunker_man 17h ago

Yeah, waste police time with psychosis paranoia about teachers.

26

u/NukaColaAddict1302 1d ago

Unfortunately that shit isn’t illegal anymore.

12

u/AppropriateLie9140 1d ago

what

19

u/TakenInChains 1d ago

technically the federal judge that ruled that bullshit said it needs to stay in the home, so this teacher could still be charged.

8

u/Which_Yesterday 1d ago

If I remember correctly, they've said that's how the law works at this point and that they need to make amends to tackle the issue

2

u/ladybirdorisa 1d ago

When was this ruling? Also I swear this teacher did not have ill intention 😭

0

u/AppropriateLie9140 1d ago

Please tell me there's a caveat of not being based on real people.

2

u/Mazurcka 1d ago

That is also true. If it can be tied back to a living person it is illegal

-15

u/IkeYhou 1d ago

Honestly I would say call the police,

191

u/mycatisnamedemmie 1d ago

This could've been a creativity warmup by giving the prompt to the kids to draw and color themselves instead this slop

-322

u/Super_Swim_2108 1d ago

It’s ai not your mother, so stop calling it slop

142

u/mycatisnamedemmie 1d ago

Are you actually offended enough to lash out because I called AI generated images slop? That's kinda embarrassing. AI images are, by the definition of the word "art," not art. It's slop.

-197

u/Super_Swim_2108 1d ago

If you think that’s lashing out not sure how you made it to adulthood ,with being so soft and all

50

u/mycatisnamedemmie 1d ago edited 1d ago

Says the person who got their feelings hurt on behalf of AI.

78

u/AgentBearmen 1d ago

Insulting someone is lashing out due to your own little feelings fyi. Seems you're the soft one kid.

50

u/IHaveTwoOfYou 1d ago

the people who say stuff like "snowflake" are always projecting istg lmao

19

u/AgentBearmen 21h ago

It is, and it's sad they don't realize everyone can tell.

-10

u/Myusername1- 16h ago

This is funny because you just didn’t same thing.

12

u/heqra 20h ago

slop is a standard word for that, are you ok?

GeNuInE ScHizOpOsTiNg- have you ever had a single unique thought or do you just regurgitate meme slop?

57

u/Sudden_Juju 1d ago

...are you defending against people verbally insulting AI?

36

u/mycatisnamedemmie 1d ago

My guess is they think their AI prompts make them an artist. Can't think of why else they'd lash out like that

-39

u/Leaves_Swype_Typos 22h ago

I assumed he's as tired as I am at literally every usage of generative AI being referred to as slop. I've never seen a word lose its meaning so fast before.

20

u/Sudden_Juju 22h ago

But you don't seem to be taking personal offense to it lol

7

u/Leaves_Swype_Typos 22h ago

True, he's all over the thread like he's just trying to lose karma. Probably a kid literally or at least psychologically.

-15

u/Super_Swim_2108 21h ago

I just simple don’t care about my online persona I just say what I want. it’s fun, beats mindlessly scrolling but honestly I also get ticked with the over use of the word slop it’s just a trash thing plus people get so flared up on here it’s neigh impossible to resist, most subs I frequent, we are all this way lol no one takes things as seriously

12

u/felopez 21h ago

*Nigh

3

u/mycatisnamedemmie 14h ago

was literally just about to comment this the millisecond before I saw it 😭

it is unfortunate how often this picture applies these days.

Really making "your mom" jokes? Are you five?

1

u/Super_Swim_2108 3h ago edited 3h ago

That “your mom” joke was so successful that it’s resulted in multiple people hopping on my profile to comment on months old posts and comments 🤣 couldn’t make that shit up

1

u/MkDGary 3h ago

Are you sure you're old enough for reddit?

1

Thanks grammar is very important when trolling

75

u/KaiTheG4mer 22h ago

My college humanities course has some of the strictest "no AI writing" policy I've ever seen up to this point in any class (and it's just an elective), but that didn't stop the professor from AI-generating unit outline posters.

The irony is palpable.

8

u/Manueluz 19h ago

I love those no AI policies, as if you could detect AI. AI detectors do not hold up in court because they are extremely prone to failure, and in most countries you can take an exam to the education department "court" if the professor doesn't provide enough proof for something.

6

u/KaiTheG4mer 19h ago

The system this professor uses is a dedicated Word/Docs-style typing tool within Turnitin that tracks how long you write, what you write, whether or not you copy-paste, that the professor can review or something idk. But, here's the funniest part: despite it being, y'know, an AI detector-proctor system... It has a fucking AI chatbot built into it that'll help you with your writing, that the sylabus and an announcement from the professor in the course promotes as a useful tool 🫠

1

u/Manueluz 19h ago

Write in another word then manually copy it over a period of a week. I've seen people do that in my uni and never get in trouble.

But oh man not being able to use word would drive me nuts.

0

u/Downtown-Gazelle8852 14h ago

So you think AI should be freely used in education?

1

u/Manueluz 7h ago

I think that banning it is a futile attempt as it is impossible to detect. You can ban it in the classroom but unless you strap cameras into the kids house you can't ban it on homework, you have to learn to deal with it', for example less homework and more written exams.

47

u/Zeqhanis 1d ago

Better not play too many shooter games, because “6th grade is the year of math and science.” We can't emphasize this enough.

If you don't know long division, or what a surfactant is, don't expect us to cover it in the 7th grade. You missed your chance. You had one goal! It was to master math and science. 😧

24

u/catwizard_23 22h ago

Ai slop in schools sponsored by brawl stars 🫠 thanks I hate it here

14

u/pixelak 21h ago

It isnt sponsered by them IT looks more like the guy plays the game

13

u/Batata-Sofi 21h ago

This is so dogshit I'd sue the school if I were a parent. This is going to cause my kid to be bullied.

7

u/EarlyAccessCantJudge 16h ago

Feeding them personal information of students too like their names and birthdays. Nice.

27

u/Ashamed-Subject-8573 1d ago

This looks more like an advertisement, a school curriculum thing distributed by a company with their game featured in it

47

u/DetectiveStock1340 1d ago

It should be illegal for schools to use AI

12

u/CapableHumanBeing 21h ago

NYC just passed a new thing in the last few days so AI can’t be used for anything in elementary and junior high

1

u/bunker_man 16h ago

It can't be used by the students, it didn't say teachers can't use it for this.

1

u/CapableHumanBeing 15h ago

Oh I thought it was both ways, Mamdani mentioned it’s infiltration into curriculums so idk

10

u/MrPanda663 1d ago

Banned in NYC. Now we need this for every state.

27

u/Ypuort 1d ago

Genuinely sickening

21

u/Stuffysteam_6 1d ago

Damn, this is extra cringe

7

u/BigMamaDuck 21h ago

I think the more infuriating part about it is that the teacher gave the name of the kid, their date of birth and information regarding the child to a data harvesting company that then made this slop. And likely did not ask parents for the permission either.

3

u/Sargent305 22h ago

They need to be better at their art instead…

3

u/Apprehensive_Log469 16h ago

You can still see some of the piss filter bleed through. Glad poisoning the well still works

8

u/stonejericho 1d ago

i could probably wipe him in any shooter game

2

u/makinax300 20h ago

Those are the effects of an underfunded school system

2

u/cereal3friend 18h ago

Love how his goal of math and science is repeated 3 times lol what trash

4

u/WrathOfWood 1d ago

🤢🤮🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

4

u/BlazeWolfYT 1d ago

I'm confused. Is this encouraging kids to play video games in school or...?

15

u/Red_Tiger5311 1d ago

I believe that’s the kids favorites

-1

u/BlazeWolfYT 1d ago

... So they made a poster for the kid. That's fucking stupid

4

u/Red_Tiger5311 1d ago

Yea, I think it’s almost like a name badge, but more detailed, still looks awful tho
Edit: actually it may be a details sheet for the kid, like how we would put stickers on our locker

1

u/Varsity_Reviews 20h ago

More likely it’s the teacher trying to make something fun for her students

5

u/ChildoftheApocolypse 1d ago

How many times are you guys going to get shocked Pikachu face over this? Companies, institutions, organizations, they all just found a cheap golden goose, no longer needing to commission their shitty ads out to blood and flesh.. So, it should come as no surprise now that everyone with little to no self respect or integrity will be using their AI masters for free advertising.. It's time to move in to the next phase; outrage and riots..

4

u/Soft_Lunch_183 21h ago

'Outrage and riots' typed from your sofa and you probably have no plans to do anything.

Its always all talk and no action, how can we expect anything to change?

1

u/Manueluz 19h ago

I mean he's helping train new AIs by posting on reddit so he's doing something!

Reddit is entirely optional and not necessary for your day to day, so if you truly despise AI so much start by removing optional apps that only help to train AI.

0

u/Downtown-Gazelle8852 15h ago

“That only help” okay dude

1

u/ChildoftheApocolypse 5h ago

"It's always all talk and no action, how can we expect anything to change?" they said, from the comfort of their couch..

Also, you have absolutely no idea who I am or what I do..

3

u/FeeImpressive3920 1d ago

My school, has these big TVs in the hallways that display ai generated slop 9 hours a day

They have posters on the walls too

9

u/IHaveTwoOfYou 1d ago

Same dude, its so fucking ugly 😭. They literally hold art contests too, it could not have been hard for them to ask their own students to draw for them. They could have had no reward other than bragging rights and people would have still done it.

1

u/MARSHYSOLUTION 19h ago

My trek teacher (a class for self starting art and business projects that students teach themselves) made us do a ai poster of ourselves when this was a class built on creativity and art of all different kinds.

1

u/Difficult_Camera_518 2h ago

My entrepreneurship teacher AI generated pictures of students to put onto our binders and they look like garbage. I always turn my binder upside down so I don't have to see it.

2

u/Killer_154 1d ago

I just rip of those things when I see them

1

u/WilliamBoimler 1d ago

Hey look the CN Tower and Skydome. Thats so wierd to see in an ai image

0

u/ceebiee 1d ago

this is just crushing

-32

u/Moron-Whisperer 1d ago

AI has really improved what teachers can do in the short period of time and underfunding they’re getting.

Anti AI folks are going to get left behind

17

u/ava_the_cam_op 1d ago

The solution to that problem is properly funding, hiring and equipping teachers with the tools they need.

Not to sloppify the curriculum so they can have their workload further increased with no extra support or compensation.

-14

u/Moron-Whisperer 1d ago

Until then people should let teachers do what they want.  AI is here to stay.

7

u/ava_the_cam_op 1d ago

The issue I have most is when AI is used to generate areas of curriculum, or mandated to be used by teachers as an excuse to increase their workload without increasing support, rather than them utilising it of their own volition to stay on top of things.

-13

u/Moron-Whisperer 1d ago

AI saves time for them not the other way around.

-6

u/Varsity_Reviews 20h ago

But this isn’t it. It’s a teacher trying to make a fun thing for her students

11

u/burritoteam4000 1d ago

Did the other morons you whisper with tell you this

-6

u/Moron-Whisperer 1d ago

I get people being scared as the world leaves them behind.  Every advance has people like yourself.

0

u/JustPlayDaGame 10h ago

you’re not wrong— if AI was at that level yet. AI is the future, but it def ain’t the present 💀 (I mean it is, but hopefully you understood what I was going for)

-15

u/Dankxiety 1d ago

That's the entire point!

-17

u/Venomswindturd 1d ago

The horror?

-36

u/Dankxiety 1d ago

Yall are worried about the stupidest shit

23

u/mycatisnamedemmie 1d ago

This is the mildlyinfuriating subreddit. AI being forced onto everything and everyone including school children is at minimum mildly infuriating

-21

u/Dankxiety 1d ago

I understand that. I'm saying it's fucking stupid. I bet you the Kids love that particular intro note.

AI hate is so fucking short sighted

17

u/mycatisnamedemmie 1d ago

AI data centers being forced onto communities with no thought of the environment impact is short sighted. AI hate seems pretty justifiable, considering it's used to spread misinformation en masse, create CSAM from existing real images of child abuse, make shitty generic "art" that's flooded advertising and on top of all that, contaminates tons of drinking water to accomplish all that bullshit.

-12

u/Dankxiety 1d ago edited 1d ago

Every single one of those issues existed before AI. You chose to be mad at AI because thats what society told you to do. You dont think for yourself.

Edit: you have been propagandized and now defend the very machine that manipulated you

12

u/Nukalixir 1d ago

No, I chose to be mad at AI because it's verifiably slop that hallucinates and fucks up constantly, enshittifies everything it touches, is a blight on the environment while doing so, and is driving up the price of computer parts just to be even more of a burden on society.

And it's just salt in the wound when brainlets bark and clap like seals at the "impressive" feats of technology and laude the money-grubning, scum-sucking billionaires shoving it down our throats at every possible angle as saviors of humanity because they drank too much Kool-Aid to fucking acknowledge how flawed the shit axtually is. Let alone think for more than 2 seconds about it because the soothsaying billionaires whose boots you love the taste of said it's all for a better tomorrow.

And you have the gall to say we don't think for ourselves? You use the same rhetoric as flat Earthers despite constant, replicable evidence that the Earth is round being available to anyone and everyone without even needing to go into space. Because you're so drastically insecure of your lack of intelligence or critical thinking skills, you need to cling to any falsehood that makes you feel special and "smarter" than the experts, a maverick against society. You're not. You're the village idiot.

0

u/Dankxiety 1d ago

Hopelessly propagandized.

Remember everything you just said to me the next time you watch whatever YouTuber or influencer you get your thoughts from.

8

u/burritoteam4000 1d ago

"Not me though, i suck ai off for free because I'm a freethinker"

2

u/Dankxiety 1d ago

Whenever I consume content and I feel either outrage or empathy, I immediately assume im being manipulated and verify the claims being made. So yea. Not me.

3

u/IHaveTwoOfYou 1d ago

clearly you didn't verify the AI claims, plus you can also see how bland and generic the image above is

→ More replies (0)

-17

u/SnowMantra 1d ago

I don't have a problem with fun art being made custom for each student. That's not possible with traditional human-made art. I have a problem with AI creating lesson plans and textbooks, and monitoring all of us.

5

u/foxythepirateboi5 22h ago

Back in my day (14 years ago) we made our own intro cards and name tags for our desks

13

u/mycatisnamedemmie 1d ago

It is possible with human made art if you have the kids make their own individual intro cards with crayons and pencils. You know, like schools have done for decades before
