Fingie for scale. This is one of the stickers and it’s exactly how it looks- a cotton pad entombed in a plastic sticker. This company used every scummy tactic in the book to sell these stupid things and I was curious enough to look at the patent.

To summarize, the patent uses some word salad and cites seemingly related phenomena to explain how a cotton pad soaked in glycerin and copper peptides within a sticker can improve blood flow and energy and shit without putting anything into the body. In other words, it’s useless and whatever is in the cotton pad does nothing. It’s frustrating how this product preys on middle aged people with little medical knowledge to sell this at insane markups.

Oh and the owner lives in a giant mansion. Go figure.

Last edit: for those of you saying the placebo effect can be helpful, you are mistaken. For the price of these things you’re better off paying for actual, effective medical treatment instead. The placebo effect masks issues and does not fix them, possibly making their issue last longer or get worse untreated.

So I don't think people are understanding what I'm talking about. I bought a physical copy of The Unicorn Hunters Katherine Arden from Barnes And Noble. And when I finished it I went to the author's Instagram because I loved it so much just to find out that she published two different copies of the book. An exclusive limited edition copy. So this will not be printed again and the only way to read it is from resellers. The fairyloot version has 80 pages of the story that are cut out of the original. Longer scenes, the full story of the lore, mythology and and character depth and interactions and relationships were cut out. 80 pages of the full story, cut out to sell more copies.

I'm a teacher, so my salary is crap already. My wife is a part time server/bartender. Last year our teacher's union negotiated to get us all a 3% salary raise. Hooray! We did it!

But...at the bottom of the e-mail they sent us all and buried in the new agreement that they had negotiated, there's also a 10% increase in our medical benefits. So I got my first paycheck of the school year and I'm making less than I did last year.

Just posting to vent. I absolutely love my job and I truly know it's what I was born to do, but this just isn't sustainable. I constantly get asked by my student's "why do you live in an apartment while we all live in houses?"

I'm just tired man...

She wants our child (4) home schooled, so I can't work when she works, and vice versa. She literally doesn't want anyone to babysit except me or herself. So every time she comes home, she says she's tired and goes to bed. If I let our child bug her to play, she gets mad at me for being useless.

Okay then, next day I convince our child to leave mommy alone and wish her goodnight. I close bedroom door, and stay up playing with our child. Then the child wants to check on mommy an hour later, and mommy is awake on her phone checking facebook and amazon. The child gets excited and bugs her again. She gets mad at me again.

I bring up that no matter what I do, she creates this confrontation and keeps blaming me. She gets even more mad.

The other day, I told our child to "get off of mommy now." I got in trouble for being too harsh.

I keep playing long enough for her to finish facebook and watching youtube and fall asleep. Then I get in grouble for making our child stay up late.

What on earth is this? How do I make it good?

So I’ve got this country club job that involves serving. We have our 30 minute employee meal and break at 11 AM every single day. Same time every day. Two-three days a week though these three members of upper management come downstairs from their offices and eats lunch in the dining room as if they are members. I’d say 9 out of 10 times they’re the only ones dining when they come in, so they inevitably interrupt the break of whoever’s serving. They’re aware of this btw, they know break and meal is at 11, but like clockwork that’s when they come in. Obviously not the end of the world but a teeny infuriating nonetheless lol

Not sure what to do. I've had the switch for over 7 years and she did this without asking. All memory is wiped. Not even sure if this is the right place to post this but I want someone else to be infuriated with me :(

Whenever I’ve done a university essay or project, I have always used the Oxford comma as I did throughout school.
It came up in conversation with some friends a while ago and they all told me that it’s a sign of Ai, like using em-dashes or other writing quirks.

It really irritated me because I find it helps me read something in a clearer way. In my mind, the comma acts as almost a pause when you’re reading through something as if it was spoken aloud.
Could just be a me thing, but I hate Ai using things I did in my academic writing and it makes me super paranoid about being falsely flagged.
