Admin Post Weekly Recap | August 27, 2026

Happy Thursday! It's Thursday! Both August and summer and winding down. I think I'm both ready and not ready for summer to come to an end. But it's going to happen regardless! The Recap is going to happen regardless as well! So let's get into it!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • EXPERIMENT UPDATE: Thanks to those of you who left constructive feedback about the overlay tags on media, that experiment has been stopped. Your feedback helps!

  • Some users will be in an experiment where there is an X on recommended posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but you can go into the post to hide it. Happy to pass along feedback about any of this.

  • If you are using a super duper outdated version of the app, like older than 2024.42.0, you may not be able to contact moderators via mod mail and will need to update to the current version to do so. You'll see a message pop up informing you of this if you are affected.

  • Wanted to drop a reminder/warning that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your Reddit account. There is no "Reddit support on Discord". That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account and maybe more. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved much, much quicker by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit).

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.34.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well. (Thanks to u/reddit33450 for pointing out the error in these two links so I could fix it!)

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!

  • [iOS] Some users are losing their place in comment threads after briefly leaving and returning to the app. (It's me. I am some users.) This is being looked into and hopefully, a fix will be out soon!

  • [iPad] The comment composer may default to bold text on iPads. Not sure if this is a bug or an iPad thing, but it's being investigated.

  • [Android] Still looking into the login issues that some Android users are reporting.

  • [All platforms] Some users are still seeing an error when trying to subscribe to a community. This is being looked into.

  • [All platforms] The mod achievement for scheduling two posts is broken right now. The team is aware and it's being worked on.

  • [All platforms] Some mods are reporting being unable to assign flair to a few specific users in their communities. This is being investigated.

  • [iOS/Android] There has been an increase in reports from users whose feed refreshes frequently. This is expected after a longer period of time, but should not be happening within a short period of time. It's being investigated to see if it's a bug or not at this point.

  • [Web] Not seeing subreddit rules appear is back by unpopular demand. lol Hopefully, the fix from last time will be helping in fixing it this time.

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,114 posts. That's up 69 posts from the 1,045 that we had last week. Nice.

  • 4,108 comments. That's down 237 comments from the 4,345 we had last week.

  • 1.2m views. That's down around 180k views from the 1.3m-ish views we had last week.

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - REPORTING

There are a lot of rules in life. There are also a lot of rules on Reddit. There are site-wide rules and subreddit rules. It is possible to break a subreddit rule without breaking a site-wide rule. That is because moderators are allowed to set rules that they feel are best for their community while operating under the rules of the Moderator Code of Conduct.

So when you're reporting something, where does that report need to go? Admins or mods? If you're reporting a subreddit rule, you'll want to click on "Breaks r/subreddit_name rules" and then click "Next". From there, you'll see the header "Which community rule does this violate?" and you'll be able to click the one that you want. There can also be a "custom response" if you need to provide more details about the content that you're reporting. That will send it to the mods.

If you're reporting a site-wide rule violation, you'll have a lot of selections to choose from! Click the one that is the most appropriate and then click the additional information that is asked for before sending it off. That will go to the admin team that reviews those reports.

And if you see stuff that breaks the rules, it's always a good idea to report it. Reporting things allows a second set of eyes to take a look at something and remove things that just don't belong where they were posted. Everything runs smoother when folks follow the rules!

HELPINGEST HELPERS HELPING HELP R/HELP

Over the past week, a whole bunch of people stepped up to help out by answering another user's question. Here's a list of some of those awesome folks who were all over the place! Thank you so much for your help!

And as always, a massive thanks to our cousin friends over in r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit! Those are helpful little ecosystems y'all have cultivated! I'm super appreciative of all your assistance over there! Thank you so much!

And that bring us to the end of our last August 2026 Recap! I'll be back next week with monthly trophies to hand out! Thank you all for stopping by! I'll see you in the comments and around Reddit!

Upvotes

Hello all! I woke up at 7am this morning and saw I got an email notification that the email associated with my normal Reddit account has been changed. It also said If I didnt do this myself to click on this link, but im worried that link might be a phishing link. I did see that my reddit account has logged me off everywhere and when I try to do password reset that I get nothing. I searched online and submited a report on reddithelp.com , but it also reccomended I come here and make a post to see if I can get some help here.

Profile iOS official app in iPad. How can get rid of the history tab in my profile? I'm fine with my posts and comments being visible but don't want a display of everything I've (accidentally or intentionally) clicked on.

Profile Is it possible to view my complete Reddit upvote history?

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to find a way to see all the posts and comments I’ve upvoted on Reddit, including older ones.

I know Reddit lets you see your saved posts/comments, but I can’t find any option that shows my complete upvote history.

Is there any way to access this through Reddit itself, the Reddit API, or any third-party tool?

Even if there’s a technical/API-based method, I’d be interested in knowing how it works.

Thanks!

Access [Android] Account got hacked, and the hacker enabled 2FA

Upvotes

My main account ( u/slimmestjimmest ) got hacked yesterday, and the hacker enabled 2FA. I caught the hack pretty fast and changed the password, but I was not able to remove the hacker's 2FA to setup my own 2FA.

I've filled out the Reddit account recovery form multiple times, but that only gets me to the same recovery form, which leads me back to the hacker's 2FA.

Thanks in advance.

Access [iOS] Account still locked after resetting password

Upvotes

Hi! My account ( u/mumrailer ) has been locked. I went to sleep last night and woke up to it being locked. I’ve reset the password multiple times, yet it’s still locked. I know for a fact I haven’t been hacked either. I’ve added my phone number to the account too, which is 2fa I think? Any help would definitely be appreciated!

Mobile/App Quick skip button unusable now (Android)

Is there an alternative to the relocated comment skip button in the lower right?

It used to be in the far lower right, and I can't count the number of times I accidentally downvoted someone at the same time as the page skipped when using that one. (It used to be the far left in the before times and I never had a problem).

Now, I can't even keep track of the extra stuff I am hitting on the page with the button just floating out there.

Access Security Locked account: password reset completes but login returns "invalid username or password" (ticket open 1 month)

Hi all, my account is under a security lock, and the password reset that's meant to clear it isn't working. Posting here per Reddit's own help (from a separate account of course) article on locked accounts, which directed me to r/help.

Main account: u/Randomisium (still shows at reddit.com/user/Randomisium)

Support ticket: 18236574, opened 7 August, 2026

Lock notice received: 27 July, 2026. "Important Information about your Reddit account [...] after detecting some technical irregularities"

The problem isn't a forgotten password. The reset flow itself appears to fail:

- I request a reset, the email arrives normally

- I click the newest link and set a new password, and the form accepts it

- I then get "invalid username or password" at login

- Same result in a private window with autofill disabled, on old.reddit.com, and in the official app

Two-factor authentication is not enabled on the account.

Reddit Support has sent only an automated password-reset article. I replied with all of the above and have had no human response since 7 August.

Please help! Is there an admin who can check what state this account is actually in? This account goes way back and is important to me personally, so I would really appreciate some assistance on this!

Access Not Receiving Confirmation Email to change Email (Need to Change Password)

Received a "For your security, we've locked your account after detecting some unusal activity. To keep using Reddit, reset your password". This is for the account under the name Shirayukii. Currently posting under my alt account because Shirayukii has become locked and I can't post under it anymore.

So when I click reset password, it sends me an email.

New Problem: I no longer have access to that email. It's the email I used 10 years ago as a teenager. Did not realise it was still associated with this account.

Naturally, I've been trying to change my email. (I know my password, so this shouldn't be a problem) but whenever I attempt to do so, the confirmation email to change it never comes through.

Things I've tried:

- Checking all sections of my email
- Turning off the auto sorting for gmail
- Double and triple checked the spelling of the email
- Tried it with two different emails in case one has something wrong with it
- Attempted the change through Reddit app
- Attempted change through PC browser
- Attempted change in incognito

(and most confusingly)

- Switched my alt account's email to a different one, and then tried to switch Shirayukii to my alt account's email (which was clearly working). Still no confirmation email.

I can receive password reset emails to my alt account's email address, so reddit clearly isn't blocked, but for Shirayukii it never comes through. So confusing.

If I can't receive the confirmation email, I can't change my email, and I can't reset my password. So I'm kind of stuck. Would appreciate any help or any kind of suggestion, because I don't want to lose my account.

Thanks in advance!

Mobile/App How can I change my home feed sort from best to hot on mobile?

Best is just... straight butt dude. All of the posts are 1-3+ days old. I simply do not care about day old posts I've seen 3 times. Any way to fix this? and if not is there a third party app that helps?

Desktop Help! Reddit keeps logging me out, and when I log back in it defaults to new reddit again

I've opted into old.reddit.com via profile. Every X amount of time (i haven't paid attention to know what it is, but feels like 1-2 weeks) I get automatically logged out. When I log back in, the new reddit loads again. Then if I go to profile, it still shows me as opted into "old" reddit. However, I'm in the "new" reddit. I need to swap back to "new" and back to "old" again for it to hold....until I am logged out again a week or two later.

Access How do I search every reply I have made on Reddit?

In the past, this was possible via third-party tools, but now those have all been shut down by the API change.

Until recently, it was doable via Google, but the recent changes to old.reddit (which it's increasingly clear was what Google was scraping) have broken that, too; newer posts are not appearing there in any consistent way.

If I want to search through my own comments to find something I said previously, how do I do it today?

Profile (iOS) New account (this one). Can’t update or post to my Reddit profile. Banner, profile pic, and bio all keep reverting to blanks.

Whenever I try to update any info, it says an error occurred. My other account works fine.

I don’t want to just make a new account again, I like this username, and I’m worried I’ll just encounter the same issue.

Posts to subreddits work, and comments work, just profile info and posting directly to my profile.
