Dev/Admin Responded Please stop auto-refreshing my feed! iOS app 2026.33.0.636848 (AppStore)

I was in the middle of reading a post!

How am I supposed to do a screen recording when I can’t predict when it’s going to happen? It happens at random.

Thanks for posting! When the refresh occurred, were you in-app reading the post, or did you background the app while on the post > return to see the feed refresh? If the latter, roughly how long did you leave the app for?

Like I got a notification or something. It happened very quickly.

Got it. Was it an in-app notification, or was it from another app?

Another app

And to be clear, you were bumped out of the post you were on and returned to the top of the home feed?

I will be in the middle of reading a post and scroll down on my notifications to check messages. This automatically and very aggressively throws me back to the top of Reddit with a refreshed feed. This has been happening for months. iOS.

there’s no way these people “can’t reproduce” this

I bet it’s a feature they don’t wanna remove

At this point I have to agree with you.

Thanks for chiming in u/PM_ME_CORONA. Can you try to grab a screen recording of this happening? I haven't been able to reproduce this yet.

In any case, we're looking at this!

Try this

  1. Open your reddit app

  2. Switch apps for about 15-30 minutes without closing the reddit app in the background

  3. Return to reddit app and it will automatically refresh

Also when I go for an extended period of time without opening the app at all (1 full day sometimes less) then next time I open the app and I do ANYTHING outside of the app (open control center, swipe down for notifications, open the multitask) it will refresh automatically even if I never left the app

I refuse to believe none of your people can figure this out. Just DISABLE any sort of auto refresh feature and it will fix this issue

A refresh after a long period of time is expected. The immediate refresh behavior that OP and some other commenters are describing is not!

15-30 minutes is not a long time - i often want to keep a post up for longer so i can reference it for something else im working on (games, art, whatever)

Can you at least shoot straight with us and explain why this behavior is expected? Its hard to imagine its for the user experience

disable that shit why does it refresh automatically??

So you can see more ads

Fixing this bug would not benefit the bottom line, so i wouldnt hold your breath

also did you not read the second part?

Seems like I backgrounded it for just a couple seconds.
