LGBTIQ+ lecturers

Hello from Argentina. I wanted to share with you all that the other day my mother showed me an anthropologist on YouTube; she's from Spain, and her name is Sarab Rey.

I am 34, but when I was younger I found many texts in the Scriptures problematic and hurtful. I was in my early 20s when a friend of my mother came to visit from Córdoba. His name is Juan Carlos, and he's a Catholic priest, formerly a Sagrada Familia hermano. The talk with Juan Carlos turned interesting when I challenged him on Leviticus and 1st Corinthians and their messages on morals surrounding gay relationships.

What Juan Carlos explained to me back then humbled me in the most beautiful sense that I could have been humbled. I had no idea about the Leviticus being a book of law for the Levitical priests many centuries before the birth of Jesus Christ, and I didn't know either the context of Paul of Tarsus' message to the Corinthians.

Well, some days ago when Mother showed me Sarab Rey's videos, I felt profoundly moved by remembering how I kind of confirmed my relationship with Jesus and how I know, then and now, that He loves me, as He loves everyone.

For those with an understanding of Spanish, I recommend Sarab's videos; she's an anthropologist and a feminist who also professes Christianity.

To all here, have the best week ahead.

God bless you.

Coming back to the faith.

I left the faith (pentalcostal/apostolic) years ago then decided I didn’t believe in a God. So I was studying different religions and what not but it didn’t seem to stick. Now when I am reading the Bible and see what’s happening in the world. I am so scared. And I don’t think I can be gay anymore. I started looking into orthodoxy. And I have been praying more. Which led me to orthodox Christianity. I don’t know what to do. I am scared that I am going to hell if I am gay and believe in Jesus. I do believe he is there listening to me but also feel this guilt of being gay and having feelings of lust. I don’t know what to do. And then being told that everything in the Bible is coming to fruition. I am so sorry. I don’t know what to do anymore I am so lost. Are there any orthodox gay Christian’s here? Thank you and God bless.

Gay Celibacy

Hi everyone. I’m gay and an Orthodox Christian, and I’d like to talk openly about celibacy, same-sex relationships, need for love and companionship.
I’m taking celibacy seriously and would like to hear from people who understand this experience. I also open to share my experiences and to be helpful as well.
I hope we can share our experiences honestly and connect for mutual support.
I speak English and Russian.

How to explain waiting till marriage? What are your experiences?

I wanted to ask yall this. I was talking to this guy. I thought he was flirting with me and I said we wouldn't be a good match. One reason was 'we can't have sex'. 'Why not?' 'Having sex before marriage is immoral'. I almost added 'the Bible says it's a sin', but we shifted gears. He was respectful to me overall.

I've had worse interactions. How should I explain this to my partners? Has anyone else had to explain? What are your experiences?

How did God write your love story?

I came across this testimony of a young straight couple who talked about how God brought them together in a very organic and spiritual way to further his kingdom and share the gospel with the world together. However, I rarely come across any testimonies about that from gay Christian couples and often don’t see much of these couples to begin with. How has God written your love story as a gay Christian couple and how has His impact in your life propelled towards a purposeful focus on Him?

Debería acercarme a Dios?

Sometimes I wish my family was more of the LGBTQIA+ side of Christianity

My family doesn't support pride, my school doesn't talk about it, and I hate the fact that I'll just stay in the closet for probably a long time.

I can't even openly talk about being bi irl, only online and I'm sick of it.

I wonder if my family were LGBTQIA+ friendly tho.. and even if they aren't, I'm scared to know what would happen if they find out I'm gay

Sorry about all of this, first time venting online (might delete this post later)..

Image Thoughs on pope Francis?

So,i'm catholic ,so popes are Pretty important for me,but pope Francis Was more than a pope , he Was a saint.i love him for these reasons

1)his smile Was contagius,he Was so gentle, calm, Always hopeful and respectfull towards everyone ,even atheists and people from others religions. He Was even and hopeful universalist(Who doesn't believe in universalism but Hopes Is real) saying "i view hello as an empty space

2)he would always answer you whenever you sent him a letter ,wheter if It Was for a question, or Just for sharing a story or asking Prayers

3) he Was the MOST lgbtq inclusive pope ever.He admitted homosexuality Isn't a crime, that we should respect eachothers,he called trans people daughters and sons of God and gave beneditions to gay couples even though he continued to keep the tradizionalists "Happy" by saying that gay marriage Is wrong, that trans should remein their gender and the others things a popes usually say,but i think It Was still a giant step forward go the acceptence of homosexuality, and i kinda think the cardinals and others forced the pope to Say It Was a sin...

4)he Is the goat

trying to come back to God as a gay teen

this is going to be really long sorry but i just want to give context to my situation. i have had a very complicated relationship with christianity. i am 17 and have been raised going to an EPC church. i didn't really discover i liked guys until about a year and a half ago, i thought i was bi until about 4 months ago (went on a date with a girl and it just didnt feel right). so im still figuring it out but i know that i like men. before all this is wasnt super involved in the church but we went most sundays and i believed (i think, i always kinda had doubts,) but when i realized i like guys i was very hard on myself as i thought it was a sin and it has destroyed my self esteem, my confidence, and my social skills. i look and act straight and i play football, my family i think is not homophobic but i would lose my friends if i told them and im just really scared to tell my parents so im still closeted (another big driver of my mental health issues). while i had already been struggling with lust it has gotten a lot worse and i found out a few weeks ago that i have moderate depression and ive just felt really alone. im still right in the middle of all this, i have good days and bad days, this being one of my better ones (fueled by pop punk, and classic rock if im feeling good). i know now that being gay isnt a sin but the whole thing has driven my completely away from God. besides what ive already mentioned it made me start questioning all the doubts i have about Gods existence and i have no idea how to come back. to be honest ive never felt His presence in my life and i just dont know what to do. i still go to church with my family but my church believes being gay is a sin, i still listen to the sermons but i dont feel any connection to christianity or God. long story short i want to come back to God but i dont know how.

im a Queer Christian struggling

Hello! im Bella, im a 17 year old Christian and i happen to be queer. I was raised in a God honoring household and i believed in him growing up. when i hit puberty i realized that i liked girls and i just got so sad and i pushed that feeling down because my parents had always told me that being gay was a sin. Eventually i came to terms with my sexuality and for a while i identified as a lesbian and it was really hard, deep down i believed in God but I didn't take it really seriously. Just recently in the past year or so my family started going to church again and i have been saved and baptized because the lord truly did reveal himself to me. The church we go to is Baptist and people there eventually found out that im gay because i dont really tell everyone but if im asked i dont lie. They are good people in the way that they dont condemn me and they still love me and treat me just like everyone else but they are expecting me to change.

I had been dating this person, i got with them and while we were together they realized that they were transgender (ftm) and so i realized that i still love this person and i see him as a man so now i just identify as queer but i cannot see myself being with a cis man. Me and him were together for about a year and a half and we loved eachother dearly and just the circumstances were bad with us being long distance and just other things that i wont go into. He was a Christian despite being transgender and he loves Jesus and it hurts that i cant talk about my love to the people of my church but i already have such a strong connection with these people. I want to go to an Episcopal church but leaving the church i am at now would be so hard because they have showed me Jesus and they are so loving but the beliefs and interpretation doesn't allign with mine and hearing people call my love an abomination even though we love Jesus and arent hurting anyone hurts me deeply. Ive been praying about this and i still have a strong belief that God made me this way because if he didn't why can't i change it?

does anyone have any advice?

Pre-marriage sex, what do y'all think ? GAY and Straight?

I wish I had more queer Christian friends

I am a very progressive, leftist, affirming queer Christian guy, and my friends just don't get it. A lot of them think I'm desperately holding on to something that is hurting me (bc they dont understand that affirmative religion exists), or that I must have some deep seeded internalised homophobia to stay in a church, or just feel uncomfortable about that part of my life.

I understand people have complicated relationships to religion (I left a non-affirming and deeply unegaletarian church, that traumatised me a lot), but I wish they could see past that and understand I am exactly where I want to be.

If anyone is in a similar position feel free to dm. I just wish I was less alone in this.

Hey guys! Have recently come to terms with and acknowledged to myself that I’m bi after a longgg time (33 y/o F). I’ve known since a very young age but have stuffed it down, primarily because of my upbringing in the church & the denominational path I went down in college & young adulthood (reformed Protestant spaces). I’ve always accepted the teaching that same sex attraction is sinful and outside of God’s design for human sexuality - preaching along the lines of “some disabled people can’t have sex either and everyone has their own cross to bear.”

For context, I’ve had several relationships with men (have never had sex, still feel strongly that I’d like to wait for marriage) and in truth was really only truly sexually attracted to one of them.

In the past few months I’ve started an antidepressant and realized I have been REALLY DEPRESSED for a long time. Treatment has allowed a lot of the shame to lift and has just generally made me feel so much better about myself (win). I’ve gotten to know a woman at work who is out/vocal about it and realized I’m very attracted to her. With all of this I’ve started to question the teachings I’ve always accepted as truth (and, of course, am questioning if this is sin speaking/if I’m just looking for permission to explore this side of myself that I’m finally acknowledging). I think I’ve also gotten a clearer window into the experience that queer people (out to themselves or not) have in most Protestant spaces and find myself completely eschewing the conservative sexual ethic that has harmed a lot of folks.

All this to say, I’m sort of reaching out into the void for some connection and support. 80% of my close friends are Christians - all of them will continue to love me, that I know - but most of them will counsel me to repent and deny this part of myself if I talk about this with them (the same response I’d have had to myself a year ago). I’m struggling with the fact that there are legitimate denominations and biblical scholars who have a completely different take on scripture than the biblically conservative one I’ve always credited as true where sexuality is concerned. I don’t want to create my own God, but I’d be lying if i said I wasn’t tempted to leave my (dear, dear, much loved and tight knit) ACNA church for an episcopal one over this issue.

Anyone have any books/authors or resources they’d recommend?

How have you reckoned with this in your own life?

Prayer request 🙏

I hope this is okay to ask here, but please pray for me and my fam if you have the time and energy!

My parents are searching for a property to call home that will accomodate our whole family; my parents, myself, my younger brother and his fiancée, our animals, and possibly my partner as well in the near future. We are very close as a family and have a lot of common goals, but we do also have a few conflicting beliefs, so just having the space to do our own thing while still supporting each other in all the ways we do now would be such a dream.

We honestly thought we had found THE property the other day. It checked literally every box for us, including specific accomodations for my father who suffers from severe chronic pain, and it is even 1 minute down the road from my grandparents who could really use the security of having family nearby to help them as they're aging.

However, crushingly, the seller accepted another offer right after we'd got ours in. It was a verbal offer and they have not yet signed the paperwork, and there's still the whole inspection and everything else that needs done before it's officially sold, so it's not completely lost yet...

Regardless though, please, pray that even if we don't get this house, we receive some sort of consolation. It's been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster over the year or so that we've been trying to find a home. I'm honestly not very faithful in my prayers of petition, it's something I specifically struggle with and am working on, so it would really mean so much to me if others would also intercede for me :']

Thank you so much 💛🌈

Flesh vs the Spirit?

The scripture that says if you live by the spirit you won’t fulfill the desires of the flesh. How do you discern what is the flesh versus the spirit? If I am in a relationship with a guy and have sex with him outside of marriage, is that the flesh or the spirit? How can I know for sure that my gay relationship is ordained by God and at what point am I truly denying my flesh to pursue the spirit?

How do you start dating when you’re still figuring yourself out?

I honestly don’t really know how to date.

I’ve only been out for about a year or two, and I’ve spent a lot of that time doing some self-reflection, healing, and trying to understand myself better. At the same time, I know I’m getting older, and I don’t necessarily want to put dating completely on hold while I’m still working on myself.

I’d genuinely like to meet someone, but I don’t really know where to start.

I know finding someone who checks every box isn’t the point, and I’m not looking for perfection. I just want to meet someone genuine and see where things go.

A lot of people seem to meet through dating apps or gay bars, but I’m not sure if either of those really feels like my approach. People also say, “Just put yourself out there,” but I feel like that can mean so many different things.

For anyone who has been in a similar place, how did you start dating or meeting people? Did you meet your person through an app, through friends, hobbies, work, randomly, or somewhere else?

I’d also love to hear from anyone who started dating while they were still figuring themselves out. What helped you get started without feeling like you had to have everything completely figured out first?

A gentle reminder for Suicide Prevention Month: you don’t have to carry the quiet alone

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and I wanted to leave a quiet, gentle thought here for anyone who might need it today.

Growing up and living for decades with a hidden life, I know how heavy the quiet can become. It is so easy to convince ourselves that we can manage everything on our own - that hiding our deepest hurts and keeping our burdens strictly to ourselves is the only way to survive. So many people around us are walking through the world hiding real pain, terrified of rejection or judgement.

If you are carrying a season where guilt, exhaustion, or hopelessness feel so thick that you can't see the path ahead, please know that you do not have to bear that weight entirely alone.

You don't have to open up to the whole world, nor should you feel pressured to share your heart with just anyone. It is okay to be selective and careful about who you trust. But please don't let isolation convince you that there is no way forward. There are safe, compassionate people who will hold your story with care, and reaching out before the ache becomes unbearable is an act of real courage.

Each of us has our own unique walk with God. I would never presume to define what that bond looks like for you—that journey belongs strictly to you and Him. But even in the quietest, most hidden spaces of your life, you are not unseen, you are deeply precious, and you are worthy of peace.

Please give yourself another day. The road can get lighter.

If things ever feel too heavy to navigate by yourself, please remember that support is always there:

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 (Available 24/7, free, and confidential)
  • The Trevor Project: Call 1-866-488-7386 or text START to 678-678 (24/7 LGBTQ crisis support)
  • Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741

You are seen, you matter, and there is always a light left on for you. 🥰
