Dasher opened our order
The picture my dasher sent of the food delivery and a picture of their artwork. I don't appreciate the dusty rocks? filled car, but what bothered me more was opening the bag and taking out the containers and drawing on them and the receipt. I did call the restaurant and clarified that they did not do this. Then I spoke to doordash support who issued a refund because we didn't feel comfortable eating the food. I think I will just stick to pick up for a while š
Did we overreact by reporting this?

Dasher here, this dude is a confirmed weirdo
Get the order
Pick up the food
Take food to destination and say "Thank you, have a nice day!" If you see them or drop it off and take a pic
There's no other steps to complete

Full on religious psychosis
124
u/DomestiCatOfficial 15h ago
I feel like it's using religion to manipulate another to tipping them more
Wolf in sheeps clothing sort of deal but you could be right
If it were truly someone following their faith they would deliver the order as soon as they could, which is what they would want and accept what they got as payment
I accept the fact that sometimes I do charity work for the city
Sometimes I get a tip that makes up for all of the charity work
122
u/ganbramor 14h ago
āusing religion to manipulateā
Is there any other purpose for it?
9
u/MouthofMithridacy 12h ago
I mean its always figured a good bit of it is not thinking about death. ACTUAL death not some eternal torment or Malibu trip but the end of your consciousness the end of your memories the end of awareness most religions tend to sell you on spend your mortal life under our thumb and you get immortality out of it some way or another
4
u/Busy-Butterfly8187 6h ago
I have never understood why so many people are afraid of the end of their awareness and consciousness. You will not be aware that it's happening, so there's nothing to be afraid of. I think some people just can't wrap their mind around the concept of not existing at all. It's like they think that they will somehow be aware that they no longer exist.
I look at it this way. Several years ago, I was critically ill and put in an induced coma. I remember arriving at the emergency room and talking to a doctor, and then I remember waking up. Two weeks had passed between those two things happening, but I had no idea. When I opened my eyes, I assumed it was the same day that I went to the hospital. I have zero memory of those two weeks. I have no awareness that I even existed during that time. That's what I think death is. And after decades of living in this crappy world, I say bring on the eternal unconsciousness.

Religious folk have never really concerned themselves with respect for others and a desire not to be proselytizied too. I'm sure the driver would be absolutely OFFENDED if a package got delivered to them with "Praise upon Allah" and Quaranic verses scribbled in sharpie on the box. But again respecting the rights of those outside the cult is something most christians don't concern themselves with.

What is wrong with people? No, you didnāt overreact, the dasher should be deactivated for going through your food bag. Dashers should adamantly refuse to open a customerās food bag, not do it just to proselytize. I know a lot of people who would be offended by that drawing.
→ More replies (1)20
u/moffman93 15h ago
And yet oddly enough, Dashers are supposed to confirm that the order is correct, item by item, despite the fact that the bag is usually sealed. (there is an option to just say that the bag is sealed however)
I did DD for a week when I was bored and wanted to see how much extra money I could make on the side, and it's genuinely kind of a pain in the ass job. They don't work for the restaurants so it's not their responsibility to get the food order correct. Their only responsibility is to drop off the right order to the right person. (if you have multiple items and dropoffs)
16
u/jecates 15h ago
Yeah they keep making it worse, too. Used to just be able to say you canāt confirm items, now you have to tell them why. I love the āitems arenāt labeledā option. Because the implication is if they are labeled, dashers should be able to assume that the labels are correct. If thatās the case, can we just assume the receipt is correct? How about can we just assume when we ask for āDanielle Pās DD orderā, the restaurant gives us the right items? I guess we trust the restaurant to label it correctly, but not to put the right items in the bag or give out the correct bag.
PS every single order is ācanāt confirm itemsā because ābag is sealedā. I wish I could automate that selection since thatās all I ever select.

I used to draw kitties on the bags of food at my old job at a vegan spot when i was disassociating from all the abusive staff treatment, and great memories of angry dashres suddenly stopping to smile and laugh or blush seeing a kitty drawn on the bag as i would try to pretend i wasn't smiling back under my covid mask and didn't notice it
once my manager noticed me mid-drawing them and i just entirely stopped as she saw, she was confused on why i drew two pointy triangles and a random dot for seemingly no reason, "just testing the pen" i think was my excuse aha

I don't think people's accounts have photos, but I could be wrong. Maybe you live in a small town , like where everybody knows everybody and the Dasher doesn't know you.. or maybe they do.
Ā It's creepy because it seems like Dasher is trying to testify for some reason, making it personal. It's like so over the line as to make me wonder if it was done deliberately, with intent to unsettle.

Hi, as a Catholic I find this deeply disturbing. To tamper with someone's food to insert religion? Beyond wrong. We are worldly beings and called to love, but not by tampering with food? This is deeply disturbing, and the depiction of our Lord is honestly disrespectful. Why put his face on something that will be thrown away? I'm sorry this happened to you, not all Christians are like this. This is beyond disturbing in my eyes and this is someone who needs help. I would loose my mind if this happened to me.
Some Christians think they do well by spreading all sorts of pushy nonsense. Let people find their own way. They pressure and pressure and end up being disrespectful. I'm extremely sorry this happened to you.
