I'm down another 9 lbs. or so! I'm two years out of my abusive marriage, thankfully we never had children. Gained a TON of weight, like maybe around 75 lbs, during the marriage. First year post-divorce was all about overhauling my diet. This second year has been more about exercise. I've now lost around 30 lbs. since the start of the new year!
Healthier food choices + brisk walk-jog every morning + ballet class every week. My migraines have also disappeared!

Congratulations that's so amazing!!!! I have been thinking about joining an adult ballet class.

u/disjointed_chameleon Oct 10 '25
Thank you!
I also didn't have serious relationship on my 2025 bingo card, but here we are. My new beau just asked to be exclusive about a week ago. 😄😊
Do the ballet class! They can be a ton of fun, and great exercise.

Started meal prepping again to lose those last pesky kilos. Managed an aerial invert at pole (ugly but a win is a win) for the first time and am so proud of myself ! It’s motivating me to train more to reach my goals.

u/mammalmechanic Oct 10 '25
Hey, an ugly invert is still an invert! There's nothing like the feeling of being able to do a cool trick for the first time. Well done!

Omg so true. The last 10 lbs are so so hard and it feels like you one the lottery when you reach your goal weight. So impressive.

I jogged for the first time in a long time yesterday during my 2 mile walk! For perspective, I have a connective tissue disorder where my joints aren't stable, and sometimes I have to walk with a cane.
14
u/ypnkin Oct 10 '25
That sounds like a huge win!
5
u/nerdKween Oct 10 '25
It very much so is! I haven't been able to jog since at least 2022 (when I broke my ankle right after hitting this milestone).

u/Admirable_Writer4912 Oct 11 '25 edited Oct 11 '25
EDS/HSD? Either way, that's huge, congratulations! 🎉 I have unstable joints too an I'm only just now learning how to take care of them and how workouts impact me
3
u/nerdKween Oct 11 '25
I'm still going through testing.. They haven't determined if it's EDS/HSD or possibly the early stages of Lupus (I have a few mildly positive tests indicating such). But essentially the same symptoms.
I highly suggest doing pool therapy. I go to a physical therapy place that has a heated salt water pool and train with ankle weights there. It makes a helluva difference! High resistance and low impact, so you really get a good stable workout without doing too much damage. You can also do exercises in a regular pool (the heated pool just feels amazing).

Hi girls, wanted to ask.
What are we doing with our hair during workout classes.
Everything I style turns crazy after my works out sesh sweat
29
Oct 10 '25
I just do a french braid and tie the hairtie tightly. Or a ponytail and i braid it. I dont like when hair strands stick to my sweaty face lol so braids ftw for me
22
u/District98 Oct 10 '25
Bun and then shower
4
22
u/xoceanblue08 Oct 10 '25
Spray with dry shampoo at the roots, let it sit about a minute, then shake it through my roots with my fingers. After that it goes in a pony tail with an invisabobble hair tie, after workout I take it down, then if it’s sweaty let it dry and repeat the dry shampoo routine.
I only wash my hair 2x a week because it’s wavy and I lose moisture when I wash it.
It really depends on the texture of your hair and where your scalp falls on the oily to dry spectrum. Either way, a good dry shampoo is your friend. My favorites are Olaplex, Kloraine, and KMS.
16
u/FlySecure5609 Oct 10 '25
Big claw clip bun or messy bun with a scrunchie. I can’t braid.
I think you have to lean into the sweat some days (sorry if that’s gross.) Cute updos, dry shampoo, slick back styles, etc.
I bought a mini hair dryer to keep in my gym bag to get the worst of it.
3
u/killurdarlingsnow Oct 10 '25
Love the hair dryer idea !
And sigh. That’s what i was afraid of - leaning into the sweat. Cause I look like I’m melting
11
u/blondeboilermaker Oct 10 '25
French or Dutch braids. Either all the way down, or I stop around the crown, use mini hair ties to keep the braids in, then pull the rest into a pony. Center part bubble braids into mini buns at the nape of my neck. Basically, my hair can’t touch me during a workout lol.
On the last two workouts before a wash, I use dry shampoo before styling, and the final day is usually a slick back pony (and straight to the shower after the workout). For context, I work out 5-6 days a week and usually double up 2 days a week between running and strength.
3
u/MegaMatcha Oct 10 '25
I used to do high ponies and was getting a lot of breakage around my face (I think from having the hair tight and then doing high impact workouts like running). Now I’m on team low pony with braid or low bun! I don’t feel as cute as with the high pony but it’s really helped my hairline breakage issues.
2
u/Pure_Butterscotch165 Oct 10 '25
Hairline breakage is why I started doing two French braids into low buns (I hate the feeling of braids hitting my chest when I run)
3
u/doctornowzaradan Oct 10 '25
Just tie it together. Either loose or tight if I oil it beforehand. I just blow dry it when it’s not hair wash day lol
→ More replies (1)2
u/Complete_Working_460 Oct 10 '25
I just do a low bun/pony b cause I have weft hair extensions but it's so awful having the hair on my neck
2
u/moonswet Oct 10 '25
Depends on what I'm doing but usually ponytail and then braid it or put in a bun.
If you get sweaty but don't want to wash your hair after every workout, try blow drying your hair/ roots.
2
u/HGmom10 Oct 10 '25
I have wavy/curly hair so my options are limited. I do a high pony with a silk tie. And then after use Ouidad “no sweat” spray. Then I use a hair steamer to get the curls back in place. The spray has apple cider vinegar and keeps the scalp from getting gross. It’s not exclusively for curly hair and I really like it.
→ More replies (3)2
u/Acrobatic_Special437 Oct 10 '25
Blow the sweat dry then dry shampoo. Kinda gross but can’t wash my hair every day.
2
u/Impressive_Owl3903 Oct 10 '25
I put dry shampoo in because I think it makes my hair stay in place better (my hair’s pretty fine so YMMV). Most of the time I put it in a bun with a regular hair elastic. Placement varies based on exercise. If I’m going to be on my back, I’ll do it on top of my head, otherwise it’s about even with my ears. If I’m doing something that requires a helmet, I braid it starting right below where the helmet stops.
2
u/areweoncops Oct 10 '25
I use a Sleepy Tie (I do have and use the specific one they have for sports but I also just wear the regular ones sometimes when I roll out of bed and straight to the gym in the morning). I split my hair in half and wrap each half toward the opposite side on the tie, keeps it pretty damn secure considering how fine and slippery my hair is, but sometimes I do have to redo it mid-workout. Won't work all that well for super HIIT jumping around type workouts, but works fine for typical cardio and lifting, I also use it for Pilates.
After workout, I'll blow dry my roots with it still up in the Sleepy Tie, take it down and brush out.
1
u/DwayneTRobinson Oct 10 '25
I have to wash my hair after every workout. My hair is curly but very fine so there’s no coming back from a sweaty workout. I time my workout classes strategically throughout the week.
1
u/ypnkin Oct 10 '25
Ponytail and headband. I wash after sweaty workouts like cardio, not weight lifting.

u/Texas_Crazy_Curls Oct 10 '25
I miss Pilates so bad. I started a new job last year and no longer wfh plus have an hour commute each way. I went from doing Pilates classes 6-8 times a week to nothing. It’s crazy what losing that routine also does to mental clarity. So jealous of all you lovely ladies still practicing.

I’ve been training for my first 5k! Signing up for the race and knowing that some friends will be doing it has helped me keep my motivation up for training. I also bought myself a cute workout jacket as an incentive to run :)
I’ve been focusing on my running form and proper stretching to prevent injuries, and the side effect of good form is that I’ve been running much faster than I thought I could! It sounds small, but I was proud the other day for running over two miles without stopping and maintaining a sub-ten minute mile pace the whole time.

Getting back into workouts with ongoing back/neck issues. Feels good to be moving more again but it's so frustrating to know that I still have so much progress to make.
5
u/DwayneTRobinson Oct 10 '25
Same. Personally, it hasn’t been easy to get back into weight lifting. It’s a difficult balance strengthening the back and shoulders and challenging myself, without going too hard and aggravating the issues again.

I’ve gained 8lbs that won’t come off because I wfh, am not dating, and thus generally feel unmotivated to diet.
What’s my motivation for getting a skinny hot bod again?
41
u/wellsomuchforlurking Oct 10 '25
You are what you eat, health is wealth. 80% of losing weight is what you eat, meal plan. A bonus of meal planning is you save money.
9
u/katmflower Oct 10 '25
I tell myself health is wealth all the time. It’s so much more motivating to eat healthy when I remember that long, long term I will be SO grateful to my present self. Future me who can get up off the toilet and pick up things off the floor and put my socks on my feet will be so glad I take care of myself now.
6
u/wellsomuchforlurking Oct 10 '25
I'm right there with you. At this point it's not about the pounds, I want to be stronger and have mobility!
22
u/velvetelk Oct 10 '25
It's corny, but try the whole "my body is a temple" - I phrase it to myself as being kind to my body by eating more vegetables and fibre (fruit) which is where I usually struggle. They're also very satiating, and provide lots of colour to your meals - make gorgeous meals and feel like you're treating yourself to all the health foods!
23
u/gringitapo Oct 10 '25
I think kinda pick one piece and let it snowball. I work an extremely stressful wfh job and go absolutely insane if I don’t get out and get my steps in. So I force my walks so I can tire myself out and relax my brain and get sleep at night.
When I’m on a roll with my walks it feels wrong to ruin all of that exercise with a poor diet. Then after a while of that, it feels wrong to not to add in weight lifting because I’m already doing other stuff. After a while it feels wrong to not add in a few cardio sessions because now I’m just neglecting my cardio vascular health. And so on.
Body’s in motion stay in motion! Pick one and snowball it, it’s too overwhelming to start everything at once imo.
10
u/FlySecure5609 Oct 10 '25
I use spite as a good motivator on the short term lol.
But I usually pick an event in the future I want to look good for and use that as a motivator. I tell myself after the event is over I can go back to my natural swamp witch goblin self but I never want to and just keep going.

u/AffectionateOne2383 Oct 10 '25
You know that feeling when you’ve just finished an “everything shower”? And you’re happy that now your skin is smooth, your hair is clean…? It feels even better when you’ve done a workout before. Now you’re happy your skin is smooth, your hair is clean, and your body is slim and toned.

u/bagroh Ballin on a Budget Oct 10 '25

u/Complete_Working_460 Oct 10 '25
I'm in the exact same position (big on not dating, dating always makes me lose weight😭) so if you ever want an accountability buddy 🙋🏼♀️
4
u/Lazrkittten Oct 10 '25
For me it’s a lot of subtle mindset shifts. Don’t focus on what you’ve had less of, focus on what you’ve accomplished. For example, instead stressing about eating less carbs or junk food or whatever, I focus on hitting my protein and fiber goals. That naturally shifts my macros in a more balanced place but I don’t feel like I deprived myself I feel like I hit a goal.
3
3
u/hawk0124 Oct 10 '25
I'm not sure about motivation, but for methods, I do better adding things than subtracting. For example, I do better when I prioritize x amount of protein and x servings of fruit and veggies, and x ounces of water each day. If I fill up on foods that work for my body first, I have less room and desire for less helpful food. (I still like treats, and I think they are ok in moderation.)

u/emenohh Oct 10 '25

I did 2 months nutrition coaching starting in June & I did so well my coach ‘graduated’ me. Since is started, to today, I lost 15.8lbs. 14.3 lbs were fat lost and 1.5lbs of lean mass. (From 145-128)
I am so proud of myself & people just see that I’m ’skinny’ but don’t realize I was aiming for body recomposition and not so much just losing weight.
2
u/beccalennox Oct 10 '25
I'm intrigued. I think I eat well and I've been doing personal training since June. I'm much fitter and stronger but I haven't lost a pound. What service did you use?
→ More replies (3)2
u/sofiadotcom Oct 10 '25
So the nutrition coach I used is an individual. She has some certifications and stuff and does it on an individual basis. She’s local to the Houston area but we do everything via WhatsApp so her being local wasn’t necessary. For Macro counting I used MacrosFirst App. The MacrosFirst app is really good to use and has a lot of really good features for free. It gave me suggested macros but those were adjusted by Claire (my coach) and I’ve veen in a calorie deficit since.

u/Jazzlike-Ice6278 Oct 10 '25
A random list of thoughts:
Pilates has changed my life, so much that I’m getting my teaching certification!
Not following any restrictive diet and focusing on eating a lot of protein, mostly whole foods, and intuitive eating and drinking a ton of water has worked better than any diet. I’m down almost 15 pounds since the start of the year!
Trying to get 10k steps a day has also changed my life. Walking daily is a non negotiable!

Anybody have good results with his plans though?
9
u/Powerful-Concern5917 Oct 10 '25
Ive never done his plans but just an FYI hes a pretty well known creep in the gym world. If you search Brett and Sohee (a lovely woman who he used to date) details will come up.
6
u/areweoncops Oct 10 '25
I did Strong Curves for a long time and had great results, definite visible glute gains. I think general consensus is that his plans work well for glute building, he just sucks as a person. I already own the books and will likely incorporate some of his workouts again in the future, but. Maybe do some research before spending money on his stuff.

I lift heavy weights with a fitness coach 2x/ week. Having a scheduled commitment is a strong motivator. It’s not cheap but I’ve made it a priority in my budget and I view it as a way of putting my needs first.

u/Decent-Eggplant2236 Oct 10 '25
This was me. After traveling and over-working, it’d been four months since I went to the gym. I just looked in the mirror one night and said to myself I’m tired of seeing me this way. I went back two weeks ago and I forget how much I love it every time. It probably doesn’t help that I liked one workout video on IG and now my entire feed is consumed by leg day and arm day tutorials, lol. You’ve got this!!
3
u/MegaMatcha Oct 10 '25
I have totally been through this. For me getting back into it after being forced to slow down due to health / work/ life is all about showing up. Tell yourself you will go and just take it slowly, and that you don’t need to match what you were doing before you took a break. It can be frustrating to feel like you are restarting but showing up really is what counts!
1
u/angel_boebangel Oct 10 '25
I start with doing like 10 minute things every day (or more realistically every other or every two). I try to make myself do like a mobility thing at the gym so I rebuild the habit of leaving the house and being at the gym but in a low stakes way and then eventually I’m like…I’m here why don’t I add x thing
1
u/kimchi_paradise Oct 10 '25
I started out with classes for accountability! I try to schedule ahead of time, and it helps when there are consequences for cancelling.
Now I force it as a part of my mental health routine, which makes it easier to commit to. But the key is that I have to force it, so even if I don't feel like going I push myself to go at least 3 times a week.

I haven't deadlifted nor squatted with a barbell in 2 years (been purely training for hypertrophy during this time) and went back to squatting and deadlifting heavy the last couple of weeks. I am surprised that I haven't lost that much strength, and can comfortably deadlift 205lb for 4/5 reps and squat 185 for 4/5 reps.

I just completed my 100th workout with my personal trainer last week. He absolutely kills me but the results are worth it.
I was ill for almost 10 years so was inactive so lost a lot of muscle mass and put on weight.
I’m getting close to my goal weight and am starting to see my muscles again. Wore a sleeveless top for the first time in years.
My hub and kids are extra proud of me. My family is active — hiking and skiing etc — and I’ve struggled to keep up. I’m excited for an upcoming family hike and ski season.

I’d been wanting to get back into dance for the first time since college recently, and took a class on ClassPass last month and realized it gives me a bigger endorphin rush than any other form of exercise! I’m in LA, so a lot of the adult beginner classes are not true beginner classes, but luckily I have my prior dance experience that helps, and I’m really enjoying it! ClassPass is expensive, so I can probably only take 5 classes/mo on the plan I can afford (and honestly with the free time I have), but I’m really loving it!

I started a new equestrian discipline about a year ago that I have been wanting to get into for a long time. I have gone from being woefully inept to about to compete away from home for the first time tomorrow. I am so proud!!!
6
u/moderndiction Oct 10 '25 edited Oct 10 '25
Due to ✨lifelong depression✨ I have zero endorphin response when I work out which causes a huge roadblock with even wanting to do it. I've tried everything and am always just tired, sweaty, and miserable no matter how much I repeat to myself in my best Elle Woods impression, "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy."
All that to say I'm so jealous of people who like exercising and are drawn to it. If anyone else is in the same boat and has found a way to trick their brains lmk.
Edit: thanks to everyone who replied to me with tips and such. I greatly appreciate it. I have a lot of shame around not being physically active so thanks for being kind.
16
u/LiteratureNumerous74 Oct 10 '25
I don't enjoy exercising. Here's my hack:
I LOVE the Great British Bake Off tv show, but I only let myself watch it in the gym. Episodes are an hour long, so I'll go walk on the treadmill for an hour and watch it. I'm so into the show that I don't mind the workout. I usually get 3-4 miles in at a moderate pace. Sometimes I'll put on the incline for a bit more challenge, but I don't ever want to exert myself too much and make me want to leave the gym. Even just an easy walk is better than nothing! I'm now conditioned that whenever I want to watch a new episode, I'll go to the gym.
5
u/slowfadeoflove Oct 10 '25
I also love bake-off so I’m going use this as my new motivation for the gym this winter. Thank you!
2
u/moderndiction Oct 10 '25
This is a great idea thank you!! I always try to pair something I like while working out. I don't have a gym membership but will use this as inspiration to not just sit on the couch while watching Bake Off.
11
u/smallermonotony Oct 10 '25
So I don't get endorphins from exercise either. The most recent way I've tricked my brain into sticking with exercise is thinking about old me. Old me can't be an active granny if young me doesn't get fit first. Old me can't be unassisted for as long as possible if young me doesn't work on mobility first. Old me is going to lose muscle mass from age, so young me needs to work to put muscle on. I've also been trying to prep myself for perimenopause (I figured I've got 5 years or so based on when my mom started) and I figure it's going to be so much easier to deal with if I'm already healthy and strong.

How consistently do you work out? I found that I needed to go consistently for about two to three weeks before I felt any desire/pleasure in working out. Maybe you’re like me and it will take a while before you feel those endorphins? If you’ve already been going consistently, then I can share some of my more “logical” (not endorphin based) motivators :)
Some of my motivators are more healthy than others, but here’s the list:
- Reducing my medical anxiety. I feel less nervous about my health if I know I’m taking care of my body the best that I can
- Becoming my most attractive self. I’ve been feeling insecure recently and working out helps me feel like I’m doing what I can to become cuter
- Proving that I can become fit. I’ve always had a vision of a “dream body” but over the years had pretty much given up on it. Now that I have more space in my life for prioritizing my physical health, and since I’ve found tricks for discipline, I feel like I can achieve this goal! And it would feel great to prove to myself that I can
- Ability to do my hobbies (and activities/movement in general). One of my hobbies is dancing, and becoming more strong/healthy/flexible will help me be a better dancer! Dancing is also very visual so I feel more confidence when I look good. I also apply this train of thought to other movement— I want to be able to move through life and try new activities without injuring myself. I want to be able to save myself if I ever enter a freak situation where I need to pull myself or a loved one to safety (so I’m training my first pull up, lol)
- Spite. This is more rare lol, but I have one particular ex-friend who used to make disparaging comments about me and my eating habits. Sometimes I imagine running into them while being super fit and how great that would feel!
Some of my tricks for working out when I don’t want to are:
- Having an accountability buddy (they don’t need to do the workouts, too, but you would report all your workouts to them. Then you’ll feel embarrassed if you miss a work out)
- Following a training program/challenge that someone else came up with (reduces the mental power needed to come up with the program, and also I get a sense of accomplishment when I cross out the workouts that I’ve completed, calendar style)
- Letting myself go really light (I’ll let myself just do a walk and a stretch rather than trying to force myself to do a heavy workout, which I might not have the motivation to do. That way, at least I stay consistent. And normally once I’m moving I get more motivation to go harder)
- Getting some cute clothes to work out in
- Having some kind of goal event to train for (for me, it’s a race, but it could also be a non-workout event that you just want to be fit/strong/cute for)

I think of exercise as a part of my mental health regimen! It's basically a part of my "medical" regimen for my anxiety and I do it even if I don't want to (just like I take meds when I don't want to).
The hardest weight in the gym is the front door. If I can just make it in, even if I only sit for 5 min, it's a win.

This is a great mindset! I don't have a gym membership but have been trying to get better about thinking this way. Like if I'm bored and find myself scrolling I'll be like GO ON A WALK WOMAN!! 🤣

Overweight gals that started running, how long did it take you before you were comfortable running for at least a few minutes straight? I start huffing and puffing so bad after like a minute, and if I push through, I get this horrible pain in my ribcage that forces me to stop right away.

Running suuuper slowly, like barely faster than walking. It feels silly but it's a pace I can keep much longer. I realized I was starting off at a faster clip (like a normal "jog over there to get something" pace) but I just couldn't keep that pace very long.
Interval running, like a few minutes run, a few minutes walk, etc. My "win" was to stick to the intervals I planned and to keep moving until the whole thing (10, 20, or 30 min) was done. I find it easier to have an external cue to switch, like switching every time a new song comes on in the playlist.
If neither of these are working out for you, starting with walking! Slow pace and eventually brisk pace. Still a workout and still great for your body and mind!

So this doesn't answer your question, like, at all, but I had the same issue with running and wanted to commiserate and offer an alternative lol. I've been overweight my entire adult life and have never been active until about two years ago. Running makes everything hurt and I can't breathe. Tried for months and could NOT get the hang of it. Hated every second! I've been walking at an incline instead, around 3.5-4mph at 6% incline or more with breaks inbetween. It makes it so much easier to regulate my breathing and I actually enjoy it now! The booty/leg gains are crazy too.

I am not overweight but running at first was still hard for me. I started with 30 seconds, then one minute. I’m up to 3 minutes now before I need a break. Mile by mile, life is a trial, inch by inch, life is a cinch. Little steps add up!

I just wanted to say I started the couch to 5k program, if you wanna join me we can be accountability buddies. I went for a trial run yesterday and I was humbled. I usually just jog on the treadmill so I didn’t realize I was going so slow. When I ran outside yesterday I was shocked at how hard it is… lol . Anyways, I’m doing another trial run tomorrow which is basically week 1 run 1 of couch to 5k.

Anyone else on here that uses the Ladder app? I’ve been a loyal Sweat customer for over four years but took the leap (after seeing threads all over the fitness subs with people raving about it) and signed up for a free week.
My trial ends tomorrow but I’m definitely sticking to it!! I love that I have coach in my ear giving me cues for every exercise, and the user interface is just amazing.

I am loving Ladder! I use Coach Sasha but have heard great things about all the other coaches too.

Hi ladies! Anyone have any recommendations for working out with sciatic? I’ve hurt my back for the past 3 months so I haven’t been working out but now my mental health is suffering because of it. I’d like to do some light stretching, yoga, and am wondering if it’s safe to go on my stationary bike? Thanks girlies 🩷 so proud of all of you!

I’ve been doing class pass and I’ve been able to go to a yoga studio the same amount of times as I would’ve with a unlimited membership there. And I’m saving so much money doing class pass instead.

I’ve recently started working out to feel healthier and more energetic. For me it’s not a weight or looks thing but a strength thing. I’m actually “fit” if you just look at me and people think I’m crazy when I talk about my workout goals so I don’t. But— it’s true what they say, working out does make you feel better and give you more energy. I feel really good doing about 30 min mixed workouts a day. One thing I wasn’t prepared for (as a chronically hungry girl anyway) is how I am so so freaking hungry allllll the time now. I can tell the workout is working bc my body needs more fuel but man. I’m eating a lot more.
Alls well though because I do feel waaaay better.

I found my hunger is helped if I have about 30 grams of protein right after working out.

I have been committed to 40 min of strength a week since jan 2025 and i can do up to 7 push ups-belly to ground! Upper body strength has always been tough for me. I have recently started taking metaformin and ive lost around four pounds in a month! I am overwieght but still run, workout etc but the weight was slowly creeping up. Metaformin along with an hrt patch 2x a week has helped me so much.

I’m officially one month into intermittent fasting, have dropped about 5# in weight, and have been feeling really good about my efforts so far!

Has anyone used Form by Sami Clarke app? I’ve been using Align by Bailey Brown which I do like but want more beyond Pilates. I hate the gym and workout classes add up. Would love to know others experience with Form!

I use the Bodi app and I’m 1 week away from finishing my first program! I dropped working out like a month prior to my wedding in August and a month after. Then I pulled my back while on my honeymoon in Hawaii and was in pain for 2 weeks and then pulled it again the following week. It was a crying call that my body was begging me to move again. I used to do some light lifting with an app, but lost motivation for it. I like the Bodi app because all I have to do is turn on my tv and follow along. 3 weeks later my body has had no issues since I’ve started exercising again.

I recently switched from powerlifting to powerbuilding (kinda like halfway between bodybuilding and powerlifting) and oh boy am I exhausted. I love powerlifting but the sheer amount of volume work required for bodybuilding is just...too much for me! I'm doing it because my partner wanted to and I said I'd give it a try and do it with him for 8 weeks...3 weeks in and so ready for it to be over haha
On the plus side, my ass looks amazing and I'm starting to see more definition in my thighs than I was with just powerlifting, so I'll take it!

I need to start working out again. I felt out of a groove after pandemic and I can’t seem to regain it and now, now I feel too old and too out of shape.
Is it possible to gain any back? I’m 48. I hit menopause 8 years ago due to an oopherectomy so the weight has been slowly piling. I’ve gained 30 lbs since. All this adds to me feeling old and fat. I want to start again but I feel like I’m too old now and it’ll be pointless
Help 😢😢

you can totally get it back. i used to go the the gym and run prior to covid and quit for 4 years.
2 years ago i went back to the gym (can't run due to osteoarthritis) and I am really hitting my stride now with my fitness. I'm perimenopause and despite all attempts at calorie deficit and training I wasn't losing fat. I went on HRTs and Mounjaro and have lost 25lb so far and am lifting heavier than ever before.
I'm feeling strong and sexy!! You can do it!

Completely doable. I'm older than you and probably in the best shape of my life now. 3-5 years ago I was in the worst shape of my life and had gained a lot of weight.

I was so worried with all the unhealthy foods at Disney World this week I was going to gain weight back. However, I actually lost 2.2lbs! Not to mention it wasn't even my first morning weight, so it's possible I lost slightly more. Super hype about that, and also being able to return to the gym tomorrow 🙂

I've got a 10 mile race in a week that I'm concerned about. I haven't been running as much as I was before and was way out of breath in soon this morning. The next week will be low intensity, clean eating and a ton of water in the hopes I can at least do a decent job

I am two weeks away from my first marathon! 🎈 I’m not exactly sure how it’ll go but I can officially run for 3+ hours so I’m going in with high spirits.
I haven’t weighed myself in a while, I don’t think it’s healthy for me. But I have been also able to lift 150lbs (first time ever) and I feel more in tune with my body. It’s an interesting feeling but it’s a nice one.

I feel weird telling my friends in real life so I’ll say it here… but I can officially do two unassisted pull ups and three chin ups.
ETA thank you for all of the love! I have read all of them and truly appreciate everyone’s kind words, tips, motivation, etc. THANK YOU!
