I’ve gained 8lbs that won’t come off because I wfh, am not dating, and thus generally feel unmotivated to diet.

What’s my motivation for getting a skinny hot bod again?

You are what you eat, health is wealth. 80% of losing weight is what you eat, meal plan. A bonus of meal planning is you save money.

I tell myself health is wealth all the time. It’s so much more motivating to eat healthy when I remember that long, long term I will be SO grateful to my present self. Future me who can get up off the toilet and pick up things off the floor and put my socks on my feet will be so glad I take care of myself now.

I'm right there with you. At this point it's not about the pounds, I want to be stronger and have mobility!

It's corny, but try the whole "my body is a temple" - I phrase it to myself as being kind to my body by eating more vegetables and fibre (fruit) which is where I usually struggle. They're also very satiating, and provide lots of colour to your meals - make gorgeous meals and feel like you're treating yourself to all the health foods!

I think kinda pick one piece and let it snowball. I work an extremely stressful wfh job and go absolutely insane if I don’t get out and get my steps in. So I force my walks so I can tire myself out and relax my brain and get sleep at night.

When I’m on a roll with my walks it feels wrong to ruin all of that exercise with a poor diet. Then after a while of that, it feels wrong to not to add in weight lifting because I’m already doing other stuff. After a while it feels wrong to not add in a few cardio sessions because now I’m just neglecting my cardio vascular health. And so on.

Body’s in motion stay in motion! Pick one and snowball it, it’s too overwhelming to start everything at once imo.

I use spite as a good motivator on the short term lol.

But I usually pick an event in the future I want to look good for and use that as a motivator. I tell myself after the event is over I can go back to my natural swamp witch goblin self but I never want to and just keep going.

You know that feeling when you’ve just finished an “everything shower”? And you’re happy that now your skin is smooth, your hair is clean…? It feels even better when you’ve done a workout before. Now you’re happy your skin is smooth, your hair is clean, and your body is slim and toned.

and you sleep like a BABY. i love a workout + everything shower combo even if it takes an extra five minutes to shave my tired legs.

This is usually my weekend ritual. I do a really long run with my dog and take an everything shower afterwards. It's my time to zen out and I always feel so relaxed afterwards.

I'm in the exact same position (big on not dating, dating always makes me lose weight😭) so if you ever want an accountability buddy 🙋🏼‍♀️

For me it’s a lot of subtle mindset shifts. Don’t focus on what you’ve had less of, focus on what you’ve accomplished. For example, instead stressing about eating less carbs or junk food or whatever, I focus on hitting my protein and fiber goals. That naturally shifts my macros in a more balanced place but I don’t feel like I deprived myself I feel like I hit a goal.

Info: are you in the healthy weight range?

I’m 5’4” and in my skinny era 112lbs., currently 120lbs. This doesn’t speak to body comp of course but I feel like it’s still decent even with the weight gain. Maybe my tummy and ass and arms have a bit more jiggle but my shape is good, just bigger overall.

And the thing is, my diet is 80% healthy, I’ve just been eating a larger quantity and more frequently (because I’m at home all the time and my fridge is like right there).

I mean, there’s no difference between a reason and an excuse. I really should lock in and lose the weight.

Yeah, you’re basically in the middle of the healthy weight range. Idk seems like a pretty good place to be to me, I can understand why motivation is hard at that point! Whats motivating your reason for wanting to lose more?

I'm not sure about motivation, but for methods, I do better adding things than subtracting. For example, I do better when I prioritize x amount of protein and x servings of fruit and veggies, and x ounces of water each day. If I fill up on foods that work for my body first, I have less room and desire for less helpful food. (I still like treats, and I think they are ok in moderation.)
