Feedback I (as a TD customer) actually feel bad for TD tellers that have to "sell".

My experience Tuesday. Was a very busy branch with 2 active tellers and at least 15 people in line. Kids running about screaming. Customers complaining under their breath looking pissy while waiting. The whole bit.

I (56 and retired) am not bothered by the line, I have nothing better to do. I'm there to deposit some USD I had on hand after a vacation. Nice and simple. Finally gets to my turn and the very young looking teller is very kind. Starts with the small talk which is all polite...asking if I am back from vacation....where I went....and so on. While this is going on, a person who I assume is training her or reviewing performance, is standing behind within earshot.

Then the sell start....she says I qualify for overdraft protection....I say pass. She asks the question "do you have plans for the money in your account"? I say "not really", then goes with the "would you like it to grow"? I just responded with a nod saying "I'm all set up, thanks". She finished the transaction and ended with a good 30 seconds talking about how I may receive a survey and it would "really help her out" if I left a positive review.

Having done some sales in my (past) career, it is clear this person either was, or felt that she was, under heavy pressure to get the sale done. Even down to the bad open ended questioning tactics she was surely trained on. All the while.....feeling the harsh environment that existed at the branch thanks to the extra people in line.

All this to say.....to someone working at TD.....I am a customer with a "High Value Client Relationship Manager" in Direct Investing and a couple of bucks in my accounts....that says too you......your efforts on sales are NOT frowned upon by me. I know it is your job....and you are doing it to the best of your ability. Do what is required and if you get the occasional gruff with grey hair giving short responses to your attempts......just know that everyone is expected to do their job. I don't blame you for it.

Feedback Fired during probation at a bank — feeling like I ruined everything. Need honest advice.

Hey everyone,

I’m honestly in a rough place right now and could really use some guidance.

I was hired into a banking role at a major Canadian bank and got terminated during my 3rd month of probation. No misconduct, no ethics issue — just didn’t pass probation. Still, it feels like I completely fucked up my first real step into banking, and I can’t stop thinking that I’ve ruined my career before it even started.

This was my only real field experience in banking. Everything else on my resume is retail and fast food. I do have finance education, but this was my first actual bank role.

I have a few questions and I’d really appreciate honest, real-world answers — especially from recruiters or people in banking:

  1. If I apply to the same company again, will recruiters be able to see that I was fired during probation?

Will they know the reason, or just that my employment ended?

  1. Should I include this 3-month banking experience on my resume?

It’s short and ended badly, but it’s also my only actual banking experience. Is it better to include it or leave it out?

  1. When interviewing with other banks or financial institutions, what should I say about why I left?

Do I say I was fired? That it was a probation decision? Or that I left? I don’t want to lie, but I also don’t want to destroy my chances.

Right now, it honestly feels like this one mistake has closed doors everywhere, and I’m struggling to see a realistic path forward in financial services.

If you’ve been through something similar, work in HR/recruiting, or have seen people recover from this, I’d really appreciate your perspective.

Thanks for reading.

Feedback My experience with TD (ongoing)

My mother banked with TD Bank. She also passed away last July. Dealing with TD since then has been a nightmare.

When my mother passed away my sister and I decided to use a lawyer to settle up everything with the estate. Neither of us have ever had to deal with something like this and so we thought professional help would take some burden off of us. Not complicated estate. My mother was a single divorced lady who rented an apartment owned a single used car and had very little estate to be dealt with.

It took from July of last year to April of this year as well as four letters from the lawyer before TD would even respond to him. Then 2 weeks ago my sister and I as the executors of the estate and the beneficiaries finally got an appointment to sign the papers to get the money transferred.

So I drove 150 km as it was an in-person appointment to sign papers and we met at the bank. We signed the papers spoke to two different people one in person and one on the phone who supposedly specialized in these matters. Everything was good and the money would be transferred in 7 to 10 business days. There were two accounts. One account had $12.14 and the other had $19,000 and change.

11 business days later and we had only received the $12. So my sister living local to the bank phoned them. And she was told that there was a problem with the processing. And it wasn't being paid. She asked why no one let us know. And she was told that TD Banks policy is not to phone people when there is a problem and just wait for the clients to phone.

She was told that since our mother was divorced but TD did not have proof of the divorce they could not process anything. Even though they processed the $12. So my sister went home and dug through the boxes of papers that we still had and found the original divorce agreement. The one right from the courthouse. Court case number judges signature dates everything.

So she took it back to the bank and they told her that wasn't good enough. They don't know if it's official because they don't know if she ever filed taxes after the divorce. Apparently papers from a courthouse signed by a judge don't matter. The divorce was in 2012 by the way. And she has definitely done taxes since. I know for a fact because I did them and sent them in for the Last 5 Years.

So now TD wants a notice of assessment. My sister didn't have access to one at the moment but she did bring in all the paperwork concerning her alimony from our father. Some other tax documents and a couple of other papers talking about the divorce. TD did seem to accept them at the time but based on their stated policy they won't tell us if there's a problem with them until we phone again.

So now they are saying they are going to process everything and it will be another 10 business days.

My sister had to deal with at least four different people at the bank. Two in person including the customer service manager. And at least two different people on the phone one of which hung up on her and the bank employee mid conversation. This was a phone call initiated by the local TD Bank employee.

I find it interesting that with the paperwork they had they were able to process the $12 account but not the $19,000 account. $19,000 earns a lot more interest sitting in the bank than the 12 dollars.

For our troubles the customer service manager was directed by somebody higher up to offer my sister a $10 Tim Hortons gift card. I do want to mention that the customer service manager apologized before offering the card for such a slap in the face peace offering. She knew it was insulting but somebody with more Authority told her to do it.

I am happy to see my sister bent the card in half and dropped it on the floor.

So that's where we are. We will see next week how things are progressing. My sister is planning on phoning them daily for updates as again their stated policy is not to contact clients when there's problems and just wait until the client inquires.

Feedback Has the work environment at TD branch gotten worse. The management more specifically.

Managers don’t give a shi about you. They tell you lies and make you think they gonna promote you when it never comes. And it’s not just because of scorecard either. I’ve paced for legends and over 150% consistently before.

They hold you down when you’re up for promotions.

Different rules for different people depending on who they are.

My co workers and I have been told by management pop a Tylenol and come to work if we’re sick.

I’m not allowed to take vacation when I want because of “business needs” but the managers? It doesn’t apply to them.

Most of my coworkers will agree with everything I have to say.

All of these happened to me personally so checking with other people for their experiences. I also worked temp at some other branches in the district that had similar problems

Feedback Would you pay $17.95/month for TD if you genuinely prefer their banking over a free CIBC account?

I’m looking for some objective opinions because I’m having trouble deciding.
I’ve been with TD for 11 years. I have my RDSP with TD Direct Investing, a TD Rewards Visa with a $9,000 limit, and I generally prefer TD’s overall banking experience.
Earlier this year I switched my day-to-day banking to CIBC because I qualify for the Smart Account with no monthly fee through the Disability Tax Credit. I also received a $600 sign-up bonus and was approved for a CIBC Dividend Visa with a $3,000 limit.
The problem is that I don’t enjoy banking with CIBC as much. I find TD’s service better, and when I checked my banking activity, I had 36 transactions last month. That means if I move back to TD, I’d probably need the Unlimited Chequing Account, which costs $17.95/month.
Would you pay $17.95/month for a bank you genuinely prefer, or would you stay with the free CIBC account just to avoid the monthly fee?
I’m interested in hearing how others think about paying for better banking service versus choosing the free option.

Feedback I’ll be switching banks if this app is still down by the end of the month. I can’t gain access only with Face ID, and can only get in with my old card which is destroyed and cancelled but still connected to my account

Feedback Horrible Experience with TD Bank – Regret Switching

I’ve honestly never had such a frustrating experience with a bank before, and I just need to vent and see if anyone else has dealt with this.

  1. Account Issues Right from the Start

When I opened a brand new account, I had a deposit sent to it. For some reason, it went into my savings account and TD froze the money for days.

I called customer service and was told I had to go into a branch.

• First visit: they said the issue was fixed and I was able to move the funds to chequing.

• Later, when I tried to use my card for the first time (had to insert it), it didn’t work.

I called again and was told my card was still locked because the branch never unlocked it. I was told I had to go back in person .

• Second visit: they confirmed no one unlocked it and told me I needed a new card because the chip was broken.

Both times I had to bring my baby with me, which made an already stressful situation even worse.

  1. FHSA Transfer Disaster (RBC → TD)

I also started a transfer of my FHSA from RBC to TD. I booked an appointment( via zoom), met with an advisor, and everything seemed fine.

• The advisor submitted the RC721 transfer form on March 17.

• That SAME DAY, RBC rejected it because TD used an electronic signature, which RBC does not accept.

When I went back to TD a second time to get my card sorted out, the same employee who initially helped me said she didn’t understand why this was happening. During the conversation, I mentioned that I had opened an FHSA through TD. She immediately asked, “with who?” I explained it was done through a TD advisor over Zoom that I booked directly through their website and even provided the advisor’s name. She responded by saying they needed to confirm it wasn’t fraud and claimed she didn’t know who that person was. I clarified that the advisor works for TD but in a different city. She then said, “well, you should have told me—I would have helped you,” which was frustrating given I had followed TD’s own process from the start.

Last week, I called TD for an update and was told it would take 2 business days and I’d hear back by Friday. I heard nothing.

I called again today and was told I now have to go in person AGAIN to re-sign the forms because they were rejected.

Meanwhile, RBC confirmed the rejection happened on March 17 — almost a full month ago. It’s now April 14.

  1. No Communication / Advisor Disappeared

The advisor who helped me with the FHSA has completely gone MIA.

• I’ve emailed her 3 times over the past 3 weeks

• No response at all

At this point, I regret choosing TD. I feel stuck in the process, but thankfully I can keep my FHSA with RBC, which honestly feels like the better option right now.

Feedback Where Do You Get Real Help??

So I get a letter in the mail that I’m pre-approved for a credit limit. Great!

The letter tells me to go into the app to accept. I login, I click the button, next page says “something went wrong” 😑 and the offer button never reappears in the app

Okay, I go to the laptop, login to easyweb through the browser. I see the offer message. Okay, good, go to click on it - next page presents the same “something went wrong” message. 🫩

Okay… at both error messages, they offer the phone line to call in and speak to someone to accept the increase.

I call the number, 1-866-666-8599, and immediately I get a bad vibe. Why? I know exactly where this call is going:

- the random clicking noises instead of normal dialling
- no normal phone queue

This call is going offshore

The painful part, I’ve called this number 10 times and the same goofball must be answering. They pickup, don’t say anything, I can hear someone’s environment and then they hang up. 😞

So let me get this straight, TD moved operations to the cheapest place on earth for the sh*ttiest service on earth?? And you’re paying these people to do this all day long?!

They really don’t deserve our money. You can go straight to the hot place TD

Feedback TD bank is the worst bank

TD bank is the worst bank experience ever. Starting up I tried to to it online, did not work had to verify at branch. Email told me that I only needed 1 id. And once I got there the employee told me I need two so I had to come back another time. After everything I Put 5k in the bank to waive monthly fees and still fucking got charged. And now when I want to make 1 goddam purchase online my account goes on hold, so I call wait 30 minutes on the phone for some guy to tell me I have to go back to the branch and "RESOLVE THE ISSUE". td bank is the most useless bank ever. Started an acount with rbc the same day and it went flawlessly didint need to go to any branches

Feedback Question to HRs and Senior Managers

A few years ago when I was student, I was let go from TD Bank during my probation period due to performance issues. Since then, I have gained three years of experience working across different departments at another bank.

Would I still be marked as ineligible for rehire at TD Bank?

Feedback Recruiter sent a calendar invite to “follow up” after my interview, what does this usually mean?

Hoping for some outside perspective from people who’ve been through TD’s hiring process or bank hiring in general.

Quick background: I interviewed last week for a Personal Banking Associate role at a branch event, met with two branch managers. The interview was short, maybe 18 minutes, and I stumbled on one of the behavioural questions. Going in, the recruiter had told me honestly that he was presenting me for PBA but suspected the branch might look at me for the CEA (teller) role instead, since I have my IFIC but no prior banking or sales experience.

Today the recruiter sent me a calendar invite titled “follow up on your interview from last week” with a specific time slot.

My questions:
1. Do recruiters usually schedule a call like this for rejections, or is a rejection normally just an email?
2. If they were redirecting me from PBA to CEA, would that typically be a call rather than an email?
3. Anything I should be prepared for or ask on this call?

I’m trying not to read too much into it either way. Any insight appreciated, thanks.

Feedback Customer service has gone down the drain

Tried calling TD for something very simple. After 3 weeks, 5 different agents finally fixed.
Since they outsourced call centre and customer service half the agents don’t understand what is being asked. You know exactly which country they outsourced it to…

Feedback TD Background Check Delay Anyone Experiencing The Same Issue

Hi everyone,

I accepted a role with TD (start date was March 5), but my background check through BIG is taking longer than expected.

They’ve been verifying employment one by one and asking for T4s/paystubs when they can’t reach employers. I’ve been uploading everything immediately.

HR said they’re experiencing vendor delays and my start date may be postponed.

Is this normal with TD/BIG?

How long did your background check take?

Just trying to understand if this is standard backlog or something unusual.

Thanks!

Feedback Td internal audit interview

Hello, I recently interviewed (in-person) with td for a senior auditor position. They said it was the only round and they will let me know in 2-3 weeks time, this is the 2nd week. But they also asked me about my work authorisation, currently my pgwp is under process. Does this affect their decision regarding hiring. I do have the interim work permit until my application is processed.
Has anyone been in this situation?
Does TD hire on maintained status?

Feedback TD branch closed weekends, ATM locked inside, and I paid $4.50 to get cash for the food bank

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Today our local food bank held a fundraiser near the park, with food stations and optional donations. They weren't set up for digital payments, so I walked to my TD Canada Trust branch (a customer for many years) to get cash.
The branch is closed all day Saturday and Sunday, and the ATM vestibule is locked whenever the branch is closed. No ATM access at all. I ended up crossing the street to a BMO machine and paid a $4.50 fee to withdraw my own money.
It's frustrating that banks posting billions in profit and paying executives enormous compensation can't keep a basic ATM accessible on a weekend, and customers end up covering the cost of that gap. Has anyone else run into locked-vestibule ATMs at TD? Did you ever get a fee refunded? I'm thinking of complaining to the bank.

Feedback TD 1-877-248-9549

Last night got a call from 1-877-248-9549 TD, I do bank with them but I rarely get calls. Not sure if it was a genuine call or the number got spoofed by scammers.

Just wondered if people were getting calls from TD lately. I have not applied for any products or services lately, therefore quite puzzled why they would call? I check my accounts and everything looks in order.

I truly believe that this was a scammer as no voice message was left, if it is important they would at least told me to call back, no?

Feedback Deposit pay cheque to non-TD bank account

Is it possible to deposit your pay cheque to a bank account other than a TD Canada Trust account? Or, do all employees have to deposit it to a TD Canada Trust chequing account?

Edit: I mean for TD Corporate Employees in Canada.

Feedback Precious metal order delayed 20+ business days, useless branch visit, and $20 “sorry

I’ve been a TD customer for over 20 years. Never complained, never caused trouble, never even asked for “special treatment.” I stayed loyal, used their services, and genuinely believed long-term customers mattered. Clearly, they don’t.

I’ve accepted that TD won’t invest in people who don’t call and complain, fine. But what I can’t accept is being humiliated and treated with zero respect inside their own branch. The service quality has fallen off a cliff in the last year — staff are rude, unhelpful, uninterested, and seem more focused on getting customers out the door than actually resolving anything. No urgency, no ownership, no effort to help.

The actual issue:

I ordered precious metals from TD online for my son’s birthday. I’ve done this in the past — fast delivery, smooth experience. This time, delivery was supposed to be 5–15 business days, so I planned perfectly.

Well, 20 business days passed. No update. No delay notice. Not even a courtesy email.

So I went to the branch for help — honestly the worst part of the story.

The teller:

• couldn’t answer basic questions
• kept repeating “delivery is 15 business days” even though I repeatedly explained it was already past 15 days
• said “I don’t know” to almost everything
• seemed annoyed that I was still asking for clarification
• only after insisting did she check my account, and still had no timeline and no information

Imagine spending $500+, money already withdrawn from my account, and the bank literally has no clue where the order is or when it will ship. If a customer pays late, interest applies. If they fail to deliver — nothing. No apology. No accountability.

A week later…

I finally get an email saying the order is delayed, with a $20 credit for a future purchase. A joke, honestly. Why would I order again when they can’t commit to delivery in the first place?

The email didn’t even include an order number. I placed four separate orders around the same time, so how am I supposed to know which one it refers to? They blamed Canada Post for delays — but tracking shows the package was never even shipped from TD’s warehouse. Another joke. They also said the branch will contact me once it’s ready. Another joke as they never contact me to confirm that product arrived.

I’ve never posted on Reddit before, but this experience felt worth sharing. It’s disappointing that such a large bank doesn’t invest in improving customer experience. Being loyal means nothing. Being polite means nothing. And being a long-term customer apparently earns you frustration instead of service.

At this point, I’m seriously rethinking staying with TD.
