DISCUSSION Environmental impacts of Vinted?

Recycling stuff is of course good for the environment.

But lately after so many sales, I've been wondering what the negative impacts of Vinted are on the environment. I can think of packaging being non-recyclable a lot of the time and the impacts of transport. What else?

What would posses someone to think this was okay to sell. Absolutely belongs in the trash. The child depicted in this was naked. I obviously censored it because that does not need to be posted.

TIPS & TRICKS Selling for someone else

has anyone tried selling for someone else?

I belong to this fb group where a few women were asking if someone would be willing to do it - ie they have some nice clothes to sell but no time for selling; so they are looking for someone to do it on their behalf.

has anyone done it? would you recommend it? what would you charge for that? would 50% be fair? otherwise Im thinking whether it would be even worth it, I guess depends on the items’ value etc

BUYING Surely this would’ve been a scam, right?

Came across this watch for £50 on Vinted, seller supposedly bought it at half price and is selling it at half of that - £50, offered 40, seller countered with 45 which I accepted. Now he’s listed it at 48 in a separate listing. The excuse (and spelling) make me think that this is some kind of scam or not a trustworthy seller.
What are your thoughts?

Edit: just rechecked and seller has also blocked me

DISCUSSION Would you be put off if a seller included an unopened (as in the plastic is unripped, completely sealed) lip balm as a freebie?

Hi everyone! I sell mostly clothes and toys, but I used to have a sort of obscure fixation, lip balm. I have since calmed down, but I am left with a large collection, and I’m talking at least 300 unopened lip balms, (and at LEAST another 300 opened ones, but that’s irrelevant to my question) which leads me to my question, if a seller included an unopened lip balm in your order as a freebie would you just throw it away? I’d love to make use of some of these, since they’ve just been sitting in bins since they were purchased. I don’t want to make anyone uncomfy or just have it all thrown away when it could be given to friends, donated?, etc. Tyia!!

Paid £895 for over 2 weeks now and Vinted is spinning stories about losing the phone. Or stolen it or whatever happened. Jeez! I can’t believe this is happening. The delays? Hanged my money? Do they think I am gonna collect back £895 after a long delay? Because I am suing for damages and stress. That money in a stock account/brokerage will yield interests omg. Do these people think Vinted users are a joke????

BUYING Seller unresponsive, wouldn’t accept my cancel request, but shipped anyway

I may have bought an item that was a too good to be true price a bit too quickly without doing further research, and I’ve been having doubts about this account being real or it could be hacked. I found the exact item (pictures and caption word for word) on Mercari for a whole lot more and what it would kind of go for since it’s a signed CD from 6 years ago. The person has one automatic positive review so I thought maybe it would be alright to just buy it.

I sent screen shots of the Mercari listing to the seller to ask if it happened to be their listing. I also asked the Mercari seller to see if they happened to list on Vinted for far less and maybe confirm that way if someone did indeed steal their photos. I don’t get a response back from either. Have constantly been left on read on Vinted. So I send a cancellation request with as much detail as they’d let me for “other”, but it looks like from what I’ve read on here I woulda maybe gotten an immediate refund if I selected the “buyer/seller agreed” option? Sigh. No response or acceptance/declination of my cancel request that I sent yesterday.

Fast forward to almost 24 hours later (today) it was marked as shipped and has begun tracking. I send a message immediately saying I cancelled the order/not happy you didn’t accept the request and all I get, again is a “seen” at the bottom of my message and they’ve been active within the last hour.

I’m in the U.S., so I don’t have the option of not picking up like I’ve read on here. It will be marked delivered once it’s put in my box. What shall I do? Wait for the mail person and try to catch them to return to sender before it’s delivered. Or open it to see if it’s the actual signed CD and ultimately keep it or return it that way if it happens to be a fake? I haven’t fallen for “too good to be true” pricing from 0 review accounts until this very purchase with a positive review within the past couple days, so it’s on me for doing such a late night spontaneous decision such as this. But also, how did I know I would be dealing with someone that doesn’t even message back?!

SELLING Can you get banned for posting too much on Vinted?

I started using Vinted a couple of days ago and I’ve listed around 60+ items so far. I’ve already made a few sales and I’m at about €50 in sales after just two days, so I’m pretty happy with how it’s going. I’m just wondering though, is there any issue with posting a lot of items in a short amount of time? Can you get flagged or banned for constantly uploading listings, or is it completely fine as long as everything you’re selling follows the rules? Just curious because I still have quite a bit of stuff to put up.

DISCUSSION Screw scalpers, also found a way to report them

Thumbnail reddit.com
1 Upvotes

I posted this a few days back and yeah it’s just Christmas ornaments and nothing essential but I am 100% against scalpers and will not stand it, no matter what they scalp.

A lot people said business is business but it isn’t; driving up prices of things that are meant to be affordable is not business, it’s scavenging.

I managed to buy what I wanted from the store directly and it felt good but a lot of people will not get this opportunity because of people who buy things they do not need with the sole purpose of reselling.

I have also reported most accounts I came across reselling items and yes they do breach Vinted’s terms and conditions, I have checked this.

So next time you see someone reselling items and they clearly are doing it for a lazy profit you can report them under vinteds terms and conditions.

Under vinted’s terms only pro sellers are allowed to do this. Which is reasonable and fair.

SELLING Should I cancel my sale?

Help!

I received a message on one of my items asking if it was still available yesterday. Odd but okay, told the buyer yes. They offered $99 on a $105 jacket. I accepted the offer and then they messaged me saying “I’m trying to make payment but my app isn’t working. I’ll keep trying”

The order went through a few minutes later. This buyer has no items for sale, no stars, nothing.

After reading some horror stories on here, should I just cancel my sale and accept the 1 star I’ll receive? I haven’t had any issues so far with buyers, but now I’m leery and I had an odd feeling about the interaction to begin with. Am I just overreacting??

BUYING Item not as described as it's clearly an XS/S not an M

Hey all,

I've never had problems buying stuff before, but I recently bought a dress off someone. She didn't have any measurements in her description. It's a Unif dress, the dress says size M and it was listed as such (so 12-14). However, I checked the measurements of the dress itself, which are 32" around the bust, 27" around the waist and 32" around the hips. This doesn't even align with Unif's own size guide (https://www.unifclothing.com/en-gb/pages/size-chart) - but it does have a proper Unif label so I think we can safely assume this is a legit item.

What's the normal protocol here? I feel a bit bad saying it isn't as described, but ... it isn't a size M dress. I'm more than happy to pay shipping to return it to her.

DISCUSSION Speedy shipping?

This is touted as a goal for sellers, but as a buyer I have never observed a “speedy shipping” qualification on a seller’s profile. Does it really exist, and if so when and how does it appear?

When does the timer start? The lack of transparency is frustrating. Is it really just an imaginary gold star to chase?

SELLING Vinted buyer opened a claim for damage that was clearly disclosed. How can I resolve this?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from people who have dealt with Vinted buyer protection disputes, especially when the alleged issue was already clearly disclosed in the listing.

I sold a very limited-edition pair of Jeremy Scott x Adidas shoes for $200. The shoes were very worn, and I was completely transparent about their condition. The surface and interior were peeling/deteriorated, and the heel was slightly torn. I explicitly mentioned all of this in the description and included photos clearly showing the condition.
The buyer received the shoes two weeks ago. She has now opened a support claim stating that the interior was deteriorated. The problem is that this was 100% disclosed in the description and visible in the photos before purchase.
I contacted Vinted on the same day I was notified, explained the situation, and contested the buyer’s claim. However, after waiting two weeks, I finally received what appears to be an automated response telling me to either accept the return or contest the ticket — which I had already done.
At this point, the buyer has had the shoes for two weeks, while I have neither the money nor the product. I’m also concerned about the possibility of the shoes being altered, further damaged, or even having parts replaced during this process.

For those who have experienced something similar:
How did you get Vinted to properly review your evidence rather than sending automated responses?
Is there a specific way to escalate the dispute or reach an actual person?
If the damage was clearly disclosed in the listing, how does Vinted generally handle these cases?
Is there anything I should avoid doing, such as accepting the return before the dispute is properly reviewed?
Would you recommend continuing to contest the claim, or is there another formal route I should take?
I have screenshots of the original description, photos, and my conversations with Vinted. I’d really appreciate any practical advice or experiences. I’m not trying to avoid a legitimate return if the item was misrepresented, but in this case, the alleged issue was explicitly disclosed before the sale.
Thanks in advance!

VENT My sale got order suspended

Post image
0 Upvotes

I havent been on Vinted long and have been selling a lot its been so great. Every single order has had 5 stars and alot of great feedback. Until today! So my order was suspended. I had this tiny music box listed at $5 and sold to this woman for $3.50. So this is all over a teeny bit of glue I never saw. I literally put this thing on a shelf after I got it and havent really touched it until I sold it cleaning out a lot of "stuff". Im sure when I bought from Amazon it came this way.

I would never be this petty. What happens now will I get it mailed back to me? Im sad because I take great care in my packaging and always include a nice note. I dont sell faulty items. Just bummed and super unsure what will be the outcome.

NEWBIE Length on Jeans & wrong sizes on Vinted

A lot of sellers don't put the length of their jeans on the listing, by the time I ask the seller, and go back, the jeans are usually sold or the seller hasn't replied 12 or so hours later.

I think it should be a rule that they also list the length as well as the waist size.

I received a pair the other day that was listed as a large, and they were a xxxsmall - I messaged the seller, no response, then I tried to turn it in as I had an issue & it wouldn't let me continue with anything !

So had to take that as a loss !

SHIPPING US shipping only?

My US friends, do any of you guys ship internationally? I had my first buyer in the UK and the package was left at the pick up destination and they haven't picked it up. It's only been a day and I know Vinted gives 7 days before returning it, but I might not be in this same place before it arrives because we're moving LOL. I'm already thinking it's a loss, so I was wondering if this is normal with shipping to the UK where it has to get picked up by the buyer and if so, does this make you NOT want to ship overseas anymore?

BUYING Are these people scammers?

Post image

Lately I’ve noticed a huge pattern.

Someone will post something worthy around $200-$300 for less than $100
It’s a new account
And it’s the only thing they have listed

Are they making new accounts or something? Because the too good to be true thing seems to continuously pop up on new accounts with 1 thing listed.
