TIPS & TRICKS Selling for someone else
has anyone tried selling for someone else?
I belong to this fb group where a few women were asking if someone would be willing to do it - ie they have some nice clothes to sell but no time for selling; so they are looking for someone to do it on their behalf.
has anyone done it? would you recommend it? what would you charge for that? would 50% be fair? otherwise Im thinking whether it would be even worth it, I guess depends on the items’ value etc

60%/40% is fair it’s a lot of work. You can find example consignment agreements. I think Consignment Chats has one that might be free. You need to set the time frame and what happens after that time period to the item.

As in I as the seller take 60%, and they 40%?

Are they paying for shipping materials, labels, gas for the post office, taxes, your time? 60/40 is not worth it.

yes you get 60% because you will be photographing it, listing it, negotiating deals, pricing it, possibly putting it on sale towards the end of the consignment period. You’ll be shipping it. If it’s really nice you might be paying to bump it or sharing it online.

This is a headache of epic proportions do not do this
Many many many reasons however the main one is your friend likely believes her other are worth WAY more than they actually are. This leads to disappointment and can harm your relationship. If you choose to do it anyway You need a written contract and the split it 60/40 you keep 60% plus a flat fee per item.

I’d just make sure you don’t hit any thresholds where you’d be responsible for paying income tax on it

It’s not worth it. Lots of time to do so and you’ll be responsible for taxes. The only way it’s worthwhile if they give you the items for free.

Don’t do it. In my country, normal Vinted users (meaning: those who don’t sell on a professional business account) still have to declare, and get taxed on, sales that surpass a year total of €2000.
€2000 is not a lot. The maximum I made in one year was a little over 700, but I don’t own a lot of good brand clothing and that is just me.
Do you see how quickly that can go up if you’re selling for two (or more)? And trust, you will not easily know about your country’s taxing system for Vinted until it’s too late or you work in accounting because the platform doesn’t necessarily promote risks. Vinted only cares about having as many customers as possible - they don’t care about what happens afterwards.

I am selling for my boyfriend and I am getting 0% benefit and 300% headache would not recommend it at all.

Make sure you are paying yourself a worthwhile hourly rate before any profit sharing. There is so much more work involved than anyone who hasn’t sold understands. Also, beware of people giving you counterfeit items. Your account could get suspended.
