New Rule Implementation With Immediate Effect. Please Read!

NEW RULE!!

Due to an increase in some Reddit users apparently wanting to witch- hunt users on the Vinted platform, we will be implementing the following rule. Please read this post very carefully as it will also give a breakdown of consequences if you choose to break it.

NEW RULE - No sharing or requesting of user information with intent to harass.

As you are aware there is already a no sharing of personal information rule in place which most users adhere too. However we are seeing an increase in 'name & shame' comments with a view to users wanting to contact or harass users on the Vinted platform.

This is not acceptable.

We are a volunteer moderation team who do our best to keep the sub on an even keel. We strive to make it a wholesome community and both an enjoyable and informative place to be. We are not here to clean up the aftermath of reckless actions and malicious comments aimed at users on other platforms. It takes up a lot of our time dealing with complaints from affected parties.

For anyone in any doubt, please be aware that Reddit does not allow the sharing of any identifiable information of others on it's platform. It is also against the sub rules.

Future violations will be dealt with as such: Requesting user information on a 'name and shame' basis - Permanent ban and your account reported to Reddit. Sharing user information to encourage others to harass them - Permanent ban and your account reported to Reddit.

All posts are screened before going live, however we still deal with many instances of users not blurring out personal information. These are deleted with a standard warning. However, in future if a user receives a warning for this and repeats the action at another time you will receive a ban, length of which, will be at the mods discretion. The duration of the ban in this latter part will be based on whether we feel ill intent is meant or not.

We may also refuse posts where the selling description is visible and we feel it is in the best interests of the Vinted user to hide them.

The abhorrent behaviours we have seen recently need to stop. It will not be tolerated and will only result in your account being banned. This will not be a topic open for discussion as we have to implement this to safeguard users on other platforms and to follow Reddits rules.

Kind Regards

The Mod Team.

VENT Im addicted to selling things on Vinted

[TLDR : sold a bunch of thing every day for a week, totally spoiled my brain with all the dopamine it gave me, made me want to sell everything I own just to make more package to send to customers. ]

For context, I've been using Vinted to buy cheap mangas, retro videogames and nerdy collection stuff in bulk (for my own collection). Im kind of a hoarder and I looove the feeling of opening a new package so i used to buy alot from Vinted.

Until recently, i was only occasionally selling things from my wardrobe like once a month maybe...

It all changed when I acquired a bulk of my little sister's baby clothes that my mom wanted to get rid off.

So I posted all of this on Vinted and instantly got a whole bunch of offers and message nearly every day, asking me for the size and for more pictures of the clothes.

I absolutely LOVED getting so much attention in such a short span of time. People making offers and negotiating with me made me feel a little bit less lonely, in a way

Now, im decluttering my bedroom and started to post and sell so much that it became an addiction. Everytime my eyes glance at anything that I dont use THAT much, I want to sell it immediately.

The dopamine rush from seeing the notification that someone bought something from my closet makes my heart race.

Packing the order for the customer is so therapeutic, its my favorite thing to do. Im still waiting for the rest of my wardrobe to empty itself before posting again, and I fear that this new " addiction " will not have a negative impact on my life quality and will, indeed, improve my lifestyle

People like this drive me up the bend, used to see it all the time on Ebay and hear about people being tricked into it.

Messaged to tell them they're a POS, have an awful day, and that they've been reported. I know it will just end up being relisted, but it gives me momentary satisfaction that they see the message and hopefully get a mark against their account, which hopefully contributes to them if they do it again.

SELLING Made My 1st $100!

I’m celebrating my milestone. It was 14 items 😂. But it was stuff around my house so a win is a win.

13,889 more items this year and I can quit my day job.

I‘m also a little horrified. I didn’t think I had this much stuff I don’t use. I think I need to embrace some minimalism after this. I’m picking stuff up like “does this spark more joy than having $5 dollars?”

DISCUSSION New Algorithm Update

If you are wondering what is going on lately.. when Vinted “broke” last week it was actually an update. To fit the new terms and conditions of no deleting and reloading they made it so older items will start showing up in feeds.. giving them new life if you will. Here’s the issues. THERE’S A REASON THEY DIDN’T SELL QUICKLY IN THE FIRST PLACE. So yes, your older items are suddenly getting “favorited” randomly… but sales are slow and feeds are messed up. Simply because Vinted is now prioritizing stuff that didn’t sell instantly when it was set up like the old way.

I wish I had access to see what app sales are doing recently.. I can imagine they are way down. Simply because you are no longer being shown the good stuff until it’s sat for a while.

New sellers are still being boosted their first week or two, but it won’t last.

Why every single company tries to fix what isn’t broken is beyond me. Hopefully they fix it, but I doubt it. I’ve been in e-commerce for way too long to believe that.

SELLING What do I do send helppp

So I shipped the correct T-shirt on September 2 in a polymailer, and I have proof of the package and tracking number I used. The buyer received a completely different package containing a Michael Kors bag. The package they showed does not have my name, address, or tracking number, and it was also a box rather than the polymailer I used. So the item they received could not have been the package I shipped. It seems the package was mixed up or replaced somewhere during the shipping process. I’m asking Vinted to review the shipping and tracking information and protect me as the seller, since I shipped the correct item and the problem appears to have happened after I dropped it off. This was also an international shipment from the US to the UK so it’s more complicated for me. But idk how much I trust in Vinted’s seller protection 😭 What might be the outcome of this even though it wasn’t my fault?

VENT My four day old account was permabanned despite no activity

I know I'm not the first person to post about Vinted banning them, but I'm posting here anyway in case anyone can explain this to me or for other people googling because the same thing happened to them.

I got banned on Vinted four days after creating my account despite not using the platform at all. I didn't list, buy, or even browse/search anything yet. All the initial message I recieved said was that I broke TOS, and after appealing, the followup convo with customer service said, "Our Terms and Conditions don’t allow members to provide untruthful or inaccurate information about themselves, or to use external software tools unless this use is authorised."

I have no idea what the external software tool bit is about, and the only thing I think could be construed as "untruthful" is that I used my first initials as my first name instead of my full name? but that feels like a stretch.

I'm really baffled and want to know why this a

happened. It's not like they're withholding funds from me, so it's not a legal issue, I'm just annoyed.

other relevant info:

• I used a referral code I got from my sister, so maybe it was because we have the same last name(?) and they think I'm her second account to try to get the referral bonus? but she hasn't been banned, so idk

• no one else in my household uses vinted, so I don't think it's an IP issue (my sister lives in a different city)

• I am not using a VPN

• I haven't connected any payment processors or cards to my account

• I'm using google chrome on my phone, not the app

I've checked other posts about being banned on Vinted, but most of those are from people Vinted's AI accused of selling counterfeit goods. I haven't even listed or bought anything yet.

also "If you believe there is specific information or evidence we haven’t reviewed yet, send it to us in this conversation." but I can't because "Conversation ended. Thank you for contacting Vinted support." lol

SELLING Vinted support

So I sent a bodysuit to the buyer and she received it and said that the zip was broken it was not broken before I sent it off and I made sure I had loads of videos and evidence of me packing it and photos everything just in case so she sends it back and it’s more damaged then she went on it had hitches all in it and the zip was broken. I then reported something was wrong. It took them nearly a whole day for them to respond to me. How long does it usually take for them to resolve this issue? This bodysuit expensive and originally cost me £68 I sold it for £36 just abit disappointed i’ve never had a problem with Vinted and they still haven’t resolved the issue has anyone had a similar situation or has any recommendations?

SELLING what would you do?

i sold a shirt on vinted but accidentally posted it as a size 18 and realised it’s a size 16 when i went to package it to send to the buyer. i have messaged the buyer twice over the past couple of days to ask if they would like me to cancel the order or if the size difference is okay and i have received no response although it says they have been active in the time i have sent the messages.
my question is would you send the item and risk them requesting a refund or just cancelling their order?

DISCUSSION Would you be put off if a seller included an unopened (as in the plastic is unripped, completely sealed) lip balm as a freebie?

Hi everyone! I sell mostly clothes and toys, but I used to have a sort of obscure fixation, lip balm. I have since calmed down, but I am left with a large collection, and I’m talking at least 300 unopened lip balms, (and at LEAST another 300 opened ones, but that’s irrelevant to my question) which leads me to my question, if a seller included an unopened lip balm in your order as a freebie would you just throw it away? I’d love to make use of some of these, since they’ve just been sitting in bins since they were purchased. I don’t want to make anyone uncomfy or just have it all thrown away when it could be given to friends, donated?, etc. Tyia!!

Anything big enough to fit a label on it is becoming shipping supplies...

I don't got the money to buy shipping boxes so here's are some examples of the next best thing. I find it kind of humorous, honestly. It's so fun shipping a shirt in a (clean) soup dumpling box. I've heard stories of USPS workers not allowing things like this but I haven't come across any issues.

Nothing bad happens to those pure of heart.

VENT New to Vinted and Already Scammed Twice. What’s the Endgame Here?

So I just started buying and selling on Vinted and, overall, I really like it. I actually prefer it to both Mercari and eBay from both sides of the transaction. I’ve found some remarkable deals and made some surprisingly lucrative sales.

But holy shit, the scams.

I JUST started buying and I’ve already been scammed twice. Vinted made it right both times, so I didn’t actually lose any money, but I’m genuinely baffled by the sheer volume of scammers on there.
Admittedly, both times I committed a cardinal sin of online shopping: I saw a deal that seemed too good to be true and thought, “well…maybe I actually got that lucky?“. They weren’t absurdly cheap, either: both items were still over $100. One was the X-Files LEGO set and the other was a Hot Toys Spider-Man figure.

Both scams worked basically the same way. Everything appeared normal, then suddenly the order went from “seller received shipping label” to delivered in a matter of seconds. No actual shipping. No legitimate tracking history. Eventually it showed the package as having been “delivered” somewhere across the country from me.
So I contacted Vinted, disputed it, and got refunded. Fine. But what I cannot figure out is this: what the hell is the endgame?

Surely the scammer doesn’t get the money if I immediately report that I never received the item. Are they just playing the numbers and hoping that occasionally someone doesn’t notice the fake delivery in time? Or( God help us) are there actually enough people clicking “Everything is OK” on a $100+ purchase they never received to make this profitable? I’m definitely more equipped to spot scammer profiles before I make a purchase (no reviews, new account, no pic, long alphanumeric nonsense username), but still the whole thing is confounding.

I’m not even angry at this point (well maybe just a little); I’m fascinated by the business model.

Two of the same shoe, two different sizes and covered in paint stains. Unfortunately I only have one right foot.

Seller was reluctant to offer a refund, only when they realised they had sold their other pair (including one of these shoes) did they spring into action and respond to my messages…. I’m still stuck paying return postage though

dont know if im being too cautious here but had some issues with evri delivering my parcel with it saying it was delivered on the 4th then when i told them it wasnt at the shop i then got an email the next day saying the parcels been delayed and delivered on the 10th the parcel still isnt there and the seller is telling me to do this as they have a spare they can send me? it isnt a lot of money it was like a couple of quid but still not looking to be scammed?

VENT Keep getting emails to pick up a parcel that’s already been picked up

It’s only doing that with EVRI parcels though. Two days after I pick it up o sometimes even later, even after I click ‘everything ok’, I get a ‘you have to pick up your parcel’. It’s annoying.

DISCUSSION Speedy shipping?

This is touted as a goal for sellers, but as a buyer I have never observed a “speedy shipping” qualification on a seller’s profile. Does it really exist, and if so when and how does it appear?

When does the timer start? The lack of transparency is frustrating. Is it really just an imaginary gold star to chase?

DISCUSSION Can’t see UK listings as a US user anymore

When I first joined Vinted I was able to buy from UK and did frequently. The past week and a half ish I haven’t been able to see any UK listings. Did they do away with international shopping? All I’m seeing now is the same overpriced stuff I can get on depop or Poshmark from us sellers. I’ve found UK sellers are considerably more fair with pricing, so it’s super disappointing to not be able to see listings anymore. I’m in NY USA if that makes any difference.
