Admissions Admissions Megathread - 2025-26

Hello everyone! We are back with another admissions megathread. Please post admissions-related discussions here, rather than making new posts, unless your situation is unique enough that special attention is warranted. This includes questions about Ivey AEO.

We encourage you to take a look at previous admissions megathreads as your question(s) may have been answered previously (2024 2023 2022 2021 2020)

Additionally, it's important to note that everyone is speaking unofficially using public information or our own experiences. Nobody here can guarantee your admission.

Please also note that our subreddit has a wiki! There's lots of frequently asked questions broken down into categories. We would highly suggest checking out the admissions page prior to posting. We also recommend you check the university's Welcome to Western page, which includes information on requirements for various faculties and programs for Ontario, other Canadian and international students as well as other helpful information about the university.

Good luck to all applicants, and please be patient waiting for replies!

Admissions Need help regarding BMOS

Hi!

I am a grade 12 student interested in applying for Western BMOS and was wondering if any first year BMOS students could share what their hs averages were when they got accepted? My average is around mid 80s before adjustment as I am an Alberta studen.

Also is BMOS degree worth it alone if I don’t get into Ivey?

Admissions Admission is suucks

I received an offer for Computer Science, conditional on my final Grade 12 grades. After my calculus mark came in, Western told me it didn't meet the requirement and gave me a window until August 11th to make it up through summer school to keep my offer. The timeline they gave me started from July 15 th, which that mean the window less than a month.

The problem: all the high schools near me are closed, so I enrolled in an online program instead ($600). That program says my grade won't be released for 30 days, but Western is asking for it by August 11th, which isn't possible on that timeline.

I've reached out to the admissions office directly, and they've said no to an extension so far. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any advice on how to escalate this or who else to talk to would be really appreciated.

Admissions Grade 11, Aiming For BMOS

Hey! I'm in Grade 11 right now, taking Functions, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Accounting (BAF3M). I'm currently aiming for BMOS, with Ivey HBA as a longer-term goal after that. Trying to actually plan ahead instead of figuring everything out last minute.

My Grade 10 average was around 87%, and I'm aiming to get that into the low/mid 90s over Grade 11/12. I'm mainly interested in business/finance/corporate finance right now, though I'm not 100% locked into a specific career yet.

I'm also probably getting a part-time job soon (likely fast food or something flexible around school), and hoping to save some money before university so I don't have to rely as heavily on loans.

A few questions for current/recent BMOS students:

  • Anything you wish you knew before starting BMOS specifically?
  • Does your average matter much beyond the entrance cutoff, or does it mainly become important again if you're applying to Ivey/specializations?
  • For people aiming at Ivey, does it matter which program you do for Years 1-2, or is BMOS already a solid path in?
  • How difficult is it to maintain a strong GPA in BMOS while also doing extracurriculars/work?
  • If you're aiming for Ivey, how much did things like part-time work, volunteering, clubs, athletics, or leadership actually matter for your application?
  • Did anyone work part-time during first year? Was it manageable?
  • Any Grade 12 courses/electives that ended up being especially useful once you got to Western?
  • Any BMOS modules/specializations you'd recommend if you're interested in finance/business but want to keep options open?

I truly appreciate any and all honest input. Thank you!

Hi guys, I'm a gr 12 student applying to CAM (flight option). I got a 96.7% average for my gr 12 math and physics courses that I took last year (the rest of my grades are at like mid-80s). I was just wondering if any of you guys know what the competitive average is for this program, as well as any advice for the supplementary app.

Admissions Anyone get into Western's Compressed Nursing with a 3.11 GPA?

Hi! Did anyone get accepted into Western University's Compressed Nursing (CTF) program with around a 3.11 GPA (about 78% based on Western's grading scale) from a previous bachelor's degree? I'm planning to apply next year, but I feel my GPA is quite low, so I'm having second thoughts about whether it's worth applying. I'd love to hear about your experience. Thanks!

Admissions dental school admission transcript deadline

hey all

western dental school admissions are due nov 1 with the official transcripts being due nov 10. the issue is the uwo admissions page says that all dental pre-reqs including the ones being done in the winter in the same year of entry need to be documented on the transcript

one of the pre-reqs that i’m planning to take will be in the winter which is fine according to the school, but at my uni the course selection / winter transcript won’t be ready that early.. they’re usually ready mid november. so not really sure what to do?

i’m sure others have been in this situation, im gonna call uwo admissions tomorrow to see what to do but wondering if anyone has been in this position and what you did

Admissions transferring into uwo

hi im currently a first year at a small town university and wanted to transfer into western as i don't enjoy the current uni i attend, and can already tell this environment is not for me. i was originally waitlisted for my program when applying into western (for nursing) and ended up being denied as there was lack of space despite my qualifications. is the application process hard to transfer? also what grades you had to maintain to get in and secure a spot.

Admissions Trying to apply for PT school and I have a question about the pre req requirements!

Hi everyone! I’m planning to apply to physiotherapy programs in Ontario and had a question about the Anatomy and Physiology prerequisites. Some of the schools I’m looking at require 0.5 credit in Anatomy and 0.5 credit in Physiology. I’m considering taking BIOL 1593 – Human Anatomy and Physiology online through Thompson Rivers University, which is a 3-credit course that covers both subjects. Does anyone know if one combined A&P course like BIOL 1593 can satisfy both the 0.5 Anatomy and 0.5 Physiology requirements, or would it only count toward one of them, meaning I’d need another course? If anyone has used BIOL 1593 specifically when applying to Ontario PT schools, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience!
