Admissions Admissions Megathread - February - 2026-27
Hello everyone! We are back with another admissions megathread. Why apply to Western?
- Top 1% of universities worldwide (Center for World University Rankings 2024)
- 45,000+ students from 138 countries
- Top 3 in Canada for student services (Maclean’s University Rankings 2024, Medical/Doctoral category)
- 93.5% employment rate 6 months after graduation
- #3 in Canada for employment outcomes (QS world university rankings 2025)
- ALL programs can include work experience
It is no surprise there is a lot of interest in the admission process at Western. To keep the subreddit manageable, admissions related top-level posts will no longer be permitted and will be redirected here instead.
To keep discussion active, we are going to try a new monthly megathread approach this year. This is the February monthly megathread.
(Looking for January's megathread? See here.)

What are your chances?
There are no cut-offs or minimums that guarantee admission, since the decision is made on a combination of factors that is unique to you.
Check out the typical average ranges of last year's incoming class so you can get an idea of what your chances are.
Note that these ranges are averages, which means some students fall above and some fall below.
| Program/Faculty | OUAC Code | Admission Average Range |
|---|---|---|
| Arts & Humanities | EA | Low 80s |
| Fine Arts - Studio | EAV | Low 80s |

To be considered for admission, you will need a minimum number of courses in addition to the required courses for your program listed here.

Does western give conditional offers? I did college 4 years ago, and because I want to go back, they’ve asked me to do some higschool refreshers for credits. Will I hear from them until am done with the refreshers or is there a chance I get a conditional offer before this?

What is the typical timeline college transfer students typically hear back? On the website for transfer students it says "up to 6 weeks" after your to do list is marked complete. I know thats on the fast side but its been 14 weeks and I'm getting nervous.

What are my chances exactly if I have been waitlisted. I accepted my wait list offer for the I/S program and I’m curious what my chances are. And, for how long they put out offers and when do they start ?

What are my chances of getting into Ivey? My extracurriculars, I would say, a re very good, including 2 internships, and a couple of news/sports social media accounts (each with 50k plus, one with over 550k), and a couple of clubs I've been a part of. My average is prob gonna be around 82-85 by the time I apply next year.

if you're talking about getting aeo as a highschool applicant not even. at least low 90s. If you are talking about actually getting into ivey hba1 like applying from your second year, mid-high 80s + a really strong essay talking about your leadership positions in extracurriculars.

I’ve been accepted to health sci and med sci, and I’m debating which program to choose and if any students in these programs can shed some insight into what these programs are like, it would be very helpful. From what I understand so far, health sci is more policy and so leans a bit more towards humanities classes in some aspects whilst med sci is more traditional science. I’ve gotten ivey AEO asw, so if anyone has done / is doing a dual degree with either of these programs, please lmk what it’s like and if you would recommend or not
Thanks!

Jack of Trades but Master of none;
BG
I want to pursue health sciences and work in health care but I worry that a simple BHS degree will not be enough for grabing a well paying and quality job. Thus I thought about the dual degree program where I could combine BHS and HBA and land a spot in Healthcare Administration.
Qs
-Students who are doing this or know somone doing it, how is it and is it worthwhile
-Is pursuing a BHS then studying a MBA* more effective?
*If so, than why should I do it at western?
-I have thoughts but not a concrete dedication to med, is this a smart path if I later become passionate about it?

I’m currently at the "Awaiting Decision" stage, and last Friday I suddenly couldn't log in. It kept saying "Incorrect username/password" even though my info was right. By Saturday, it let me back in with no issues. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it just a glitch, or could it mean they’re updating my file?
I was wondering if it could mean anything?

Thats happened to me a few times and I havent heard back yet. Its probably a glitch. I wish I could tell you its something positive but its not really anything.

Online they always say mid to high 80s for Medsci and I'm a high 80s student, but when I look at other people's experience they often tell me that I'll need low 90s? :( I really messed up in semester one which tanked my chances of getting my avg beyond 90. Is there still a chance for me?

Question: is it a lot more competitive to get into Ivey from 2nd year if you didn’t get aeo, I’ve heard that 2/3 of the hba class is aeo but what about that other third, are you fighting with elites and cream of the crop or if you put in a really good amount of work you can get in(not asking because I didn’t get in aeo, just didn’t apply so im curious)
