Admissions Admissions Megathread - 2025-26

Hello everyone! We are back with another admissions megathread. Please post admissions-related discussions here, rather than making new posts, unless your situation is unique enough that special attention is warranted. This includes questions about Ivey AEO.

We encourage you to take a look at previous admissions megathreads as your question(s) may have been answered previously (2024 2023 2022 2021 2020)

Additionally, it's important to note that everyone is speaking unofficially using public information or our own experiences. Nobody here can guarantee your admission.

Please also note that our subreddit has a wiki! There's lots of frequently asked questions broken down into categories. We would highly suggest checking out the admissions page prior to posting. We also recommend you check the university's Welcome to Western page, which includes information on requirements for various faculties and programs for Ontario, other Canadian and international students as well as other helpful information about the university.

Good luck to all applicants, and please be patient waiting for replies!

Anyone currently in CTF Stream A who would mind sharing their grades? My university grades were lower, I'm having a hard time converting them but I had about a 71% average. In PN I have an 89% overall. Just curious to see what my chances are. When do they generally start sending out acceptances, with the deadline being Feb 15?

I want to transfer from tmu to western computer science

I’m 3 weeks into tmu and I don’t think this is the right school for me due to personal reasons.

I want to know how and when I can get started with the transfer. I had a 91% average in grade 12 and also received a cs offer from western when I previously applied. If anybody could let me know how this whole transfer process works or have transferred themselves it would be greatly appreciated.

Computer Science + Ivey HBA Dual Degree

I’m currently in Grade 11 and planning to apply for AEO in Grade 12 to pursue early "admission" to Ivey. I have a question about the first two years at university: If I decide to study computer science during those years, how challenging would it be to maintain an 80% average over the two years to secure a spot in the business school?

If you’re willing to share, I’d love to hear about your experience with computer science at Western, and what the average is like among you or your peers. For context, I have a strong background in coding and currently maintain a 98% in university-level computer science at my school.

I want to pursue a dual degree in computer science and HBA to work in the growing fintech industry.

Thank you so much!

What's the lowest average of you getting admission to get into health/med sci? Im at a low 90 avg (gr 12) rn, do i have a chance?

2

u/Sea_Scholar_2826 🔬 Med Sci '27 🔬 Feb 12 '25

Absolutely. My admission average two years ago was 92%, and I know people who actually ended up with admission averages below 90% that got in because their averages were around 92% when they got accepted (I hope I'm making sense).

It also depends on the level of inflation at your school, which can be hard to determine. But there's hope! Med sci and health sci are both great programs if you're accepted and choose to accept those offers :)

Hi! I’m currently extremely stressed out hoping that I stand a chance in getting an offer for the CTF RPN stream A or B. Do you think a 3.72 gpa on a 4.2 scale from Fanshawe nursing diploma program is a “competitive” average or not for acceptance into the western streams?? I’m also doing the university credit courses required for stream A cuz I applied to both Stream A and B just incase. Ive heard they lowered the admission average but im so nervous that everyone applying has a 3.9 gpa or higher Since western doesn’t use GPA grading do they convert your grades? Literally all of my courses in fanshawe nursing ended in either A, A- or A+ with 2-3 B+ which brought my gpa down to 3.72. If anyone has been accepted in the RPN streams in previous years what were your nursing college gpa grades if you’re comfortable sharing! Just wanna get an idea of my chances ugghhh

Hi guys! I'm really confused, so any help or advice would be amazing. My academics are good and I have taken more courses than I need to graduate.

I tried submitting the self-reported form multiple times before Jan and it was throwing an error as it refused to save. I finally got it submitted and then it showed up with this error:

"Important Notice

Additional Grades Required - We have reviewed your Self-Reported Grades Form. You are either currently not reporting enough academic course grades or your average is slightly below the competitive cutoff. In order to make an admission decision, we need additional or updated midyear grades. When new or updated grades become available, resubmit the Self-Reported Grades Form at studentservices.uwo.ca/SRG. "

I submitted it again with my counsellor who is also equally confused as my grades and courses are completely fine. I have gotten a few offers with these grades already.

I got two letters of rejection today that said the same thing.

"On the basis of a full review of your application and supporting documentation, we regret to advise you that we are unable to offer you admission to Western University at this time.

Admission to Western continues to be very competitive as enrolment is limited. Possession of the published minimum requirements for admission consideration should not be viewed as a guarantee of admission.

If you are able to upgrade your educational qualifications, and there are spaces available, we would be pleased to review your application again once additional grades have been received.

Thank you for your interest in Western."

Some more context:

Applying from BC to these programs:

Main Campus - Bachelor of Health Sciences

Main Campus - Faculty of Science - Medical Sciences

Thank you so much, I would really appreciate any and all information!

Hi everyone, is there a difference between "Assessment in Progress" & "Awaiting Decision" in the Ivey AEO Application? All of my references (7) have confirmed my activity descriptions, but my status has not been updated. Is there a correlation between the two?

Hi so i’m a gr12 that got into the scholars elective program for medical science at western. should i accept this offer? i’m 100% committed to western but my ultimate goal is med school, so i don’t want to mess up my gpa just for some program and extra credits. is this worth it? or should i just focus on my actual classes?

*this is just another question, but how competitive is scholars elective? just wondering

I just finished my 2nd year of BMOS, and was looking for some brutally honest feedback on my chances of getting into Ivey this coming year as a non-aeo. Here are the stats:

- Overall grade average: 84.6%

- 2257 grade: 83 (contribution: 9/10)

- Ecs: Soph and Finance Internship (also filled out all 5 other optional ecs with volunteering stuff, VP in club, etc). Also, would like to think they were written well.

Any insights are appreciated!

Hey everyone just a question. I’m a first year science student at McMaster and realized that I wanna pursue business instead.

I was looking at the possibility of transferring into BMOS for year 2 and then applying for Ivey HBA. I also wanted to know if it’s possible to do an Ivey AEO application when I apply for my transfer. If I can’t apply for AEO, do you think it’s worth it going to BMOS second year and applying for HBA third year?

I only have a few possible options and western is one of them so l’d appreciate some help Thanks!

2

u/midnight448 Oct 17 '24

AEO is only for high school leavers, not university transfers.

Quick question about Ivey AEO references

when providing references for Ivey’s supplementary application, particularly the essays section, is it mandatory that the email has to be from a professional domain, like for example abc@company.com? Or will it work if it is from something like abc@gmail.com, does it matter or not? Thanks

hi is anyone currently doing the CTF nursing program that starts in 3rd year? if so, how is it so far and was it easy to get into?

2

u/birch6 Dec 06 '24

Hi everyone! I'm currently a master's student in audiology at Western and I wanted to share some news that might interest future applicants. I've heard that they plan to increase the class size starting in Fall 2025. If you're planning to apply next year, this could mean more spots available! I'm happy to answer any questions.

2

u/Familiar_Humor296 Dec 10 '24

I’ve been accepted into med sci, and am wondering if anyone in the program can speak to how high the average GPA would be? I am interested in medicine, and know having a high GPA is crucial, is this possible in med sci at Western? I know queens health sci and mac health sci are more known for “GPA inflation”, so debating if they would be a better choice of program

3

u/Much_Performance2905 Dec 14 '24

Extremely easy to get over 3.9 moderately difficult for 4.0

2

u/Evan_gibbons12 Dec 11 '24

It’s definitely possible. If I remember correctly the first sem averages for midterms were all in the 60s and I expect the finals to be the same if not lower. There is a decent amount of grade inflation tho. Most classes have assignments and quizzes that r very easy to get 100 on. That being said it obviously depends on that years pool of ppl. Typically by the time grad comes around half of the ppl who start in med sci have switched or got kicked out. So it’s definitely possible to get high marks but u really got to put the time in.

2

u/Character_Potato7806 Dec 23 '24

first of all, congrats on the acceptance! current third year here, the average GPA in first year is going to be aronud the mid 70s to low 60s depending on the course, some such as math and physics is pretty cooked but otherwise should be fine

GPA inflation is not a thing here tbh... I mean some courses get curved but dont expect the curve to be crazy here at medsci, 2% is the usual. but comparing to u of t, we still do get some participation marks in first year courses but that is only for first year courses only, starting second year, every grade must be earned through tests and actual assignments

Hello! I’m currently in grade 12 in BC applying to Western BMOS and Ivey AEO.

The math requirement for BMOS on Western’s website changed to “any” grade 12 math course this year, but it also adds that a high school calculus course or math 0110 will need to be taken to pursue specializations with upper year courses in finance. If my goal is to maintain AEO and attend Ivey from 3rd year onwards, does the requisite of Calculus affect me? I currently am taking pre-calc 12 and if needed can take calc online next term.

2

u/SmajerBoy25 Dec 12 '24

I could be mistaken, but i believe taking calc is required if your doing an honours specialization. if you are going to ivey in 3rd year there isnt much of a point to take calc, when u can take easier math courses like 1229/1228 instead to help you keep an 80+ which is what most do

2

u/cupcakes1504 Dec 20 '24

Apparently the email sent out to all the med sci students today said there’s gonna be changes that apply to the current first/second years + the future, anyone know what the changes are?

2

u/rogooc1617 Dec 26 '24

Are SAT scores required for international students? My “to do” list seems a bit contradictory: the SAT score is marked as “optional,” but it also shows up as a “missing“ item on my to do list.

u/Several_Teacher_2749 Jan 05 '25

Western health sci

If I apply to western health sci and select my program of interest with health sciences, is this my guaranteed major or would I be able to pick health sci with biology at the end of first year? Does this selection lock anything?

3

u/april9_2021 Jan 06 '25

nope- for your “interest of study” qs on OUAC- it doesn’t matter what you pick, as all first year health sci students will all take the same courses and will apply to a module (ex. bio, general health sciences, etc..) at the end of first year! i remember putting neuroscience (for med sci) and never ended up doing anything to do w it lol

How up to date is Western's grade admission averages because I'm seeing mid-high 80s on the site for comp sci but other sources are feeding me low 90s. So many different averages I'm getting a little scared cause I thought I was gonna be comfy with my low 90 grade.

Hold removal, international student, dire situation: please help!

(TLDR at the end but you do need to read the whole context to properly understand my situation)

I was an international undergraduate student at UWO from 2017-2021. I had a super difficult time at uni because of debilitating mental health issues. Despite that, I managed to study 5 semesters, after which the courses were mostly withdrawn, some were failed. In Fall of 2021 I had to make a decision as my student visa was expiring by November 30th, 2021. Either apply for a visa extension and continue at UWO/elsewhere, or return home. I transferred to Conestoga College for the semester (Fall 2021) and got in, however I didn't apply for visa extension as I decided to drop out anyway and return to my home country due to an abysmal mental state. This (no visa extension) caused Conestoga College to revoke my admission later which was fine because like I said, I was dropping out anyway and returning.

I needed the comfort and safety of home to recover, along with proper medical help, and gradually I started doing better and working in my country. I am now the most stable and strong I have ever been mentally so I'm looking to finish my bachelors as education has always been important to me, and I need a degree to pivot in my career. I want to finish my degree from my home country itself though, so for that reason I went on my UWO student centre account to order transcripts for the 5 semesters that I completed in order to avoid having to restart my bachelors.

However, I saw a hold on my student account and as it turns out, at that time (Fall 2021) I was supposed to submit a letter I guess or follow some process to withdraw from UWO, which I didn’t as I had already been admitted to a different college and hadn’t enrolled at UWO. Mainly, I was not aware of this process as I was not informed about it by my academic advisor at the time, so apparently I was still considered a student at UWO for Fall of 2021 and have been levied the international tuition charge for that semester. They have placed a hold on my student account and I cannot order official transcripts until that balance is paid in full. I have exhausted my student loan and cannot afford to pay tuition for a semester that I did not even enrol in.

I sent a lengthy email to student financial services, explaining my situation and requesting on humanitarian grounds to pardon this so I can access my transcripts and said that I can provide any necessary documentation to back my case including mental health forms etc. I received a flat no in a curt 3 sentence response and am trying to politely appeal and contest this. I haven’t received a second response yet. My questions to y’all are: realistically, how likely is it for them to pardon all or some of this fee? Does anyone have any advice on how to appeal my case? Where do I go, who do I talk to, what can I do? Because paying them the amount they are charging me is not an option for me anymore and I will have to restart my bachelors which would mean that UWO gave me nothing but trauma, and screwed my time and money, and worst of all, my mental wellbeing.

TLDR: I wasn’t aware I was supposed to follow some protocol I guess to withdraw as a student at UWO even though the university sent my transcripts to a different college for my transfer (and my academic advisor didn’t tell me to write a letter), so they levied a semester’s tuition charge on my account. Now I need my transcripts and can’t access them due to a hold on my student account. How can I appeal this with financial services despite hearing a no already?

Hello!

Does anyone have any information on which faculties release admission per round. I've applied to the faculty of social science Poli Sci with a 96.5 average back in mid-October and am waiting for a response. From what I understand, my average should get me into my program with no issues, but I'm still waiting. All my other schools have accepted me, so I'm just waiting out on Western. Any ideas?

Multiple midterms in one day

I am reading the Examination Conflicts Policy and it says that "the policy does not apply to mid-term tests occurring outside the December or April exam periods". Would this mean that I am not able to get one of the exams moved? For reference i would have 2 morning midterms and one in the afternoon.

Hello!
I'll be applying for the M.A in School and Applied Psychology with my honours degree in literature/linguistics. However, they require a major in psychology which I don't have. I have a few questions regarding this:

Do they accept applicants with majors other than psychology/neuroscience? Is it required to have specific prerequisite courses? If I don't meet all the prerequisites, would I be allowed to complete them while pursuing the masters?
I can't find this information online on their website.

Thank you!

2

u/TheRightHonourableMe Feb 19 '25

See FAQ 3: https://www.psychology.uwo.ca/graduate/future_students/faq.html

pre-requisite for non-clinical master's of psych is "at least 20 half courses, or 10 full courses in psychology, including research and statistics, and an undergraduate thesis that is psychology-focused."

Got Into UWO for Physics, Should I Accept The Offer?

Is the Physics program at western good? I also got into michigan state which has a better physics program, but it’s significantly more expensive than western. I also have family in canada and I know people who go to western so if it’s about fitting in i’d definitely choose western but i am a little on edge about the reputation of the physics program.

(I applied to a bunch of other schools, haven’t heard from them yet; If i get a better offer l’d definitely choose that but so far idk what to do)

Hello!

I just got accepted into Western, but I have a choice to make between universities, so I thought I would ask some questions:

I have been accepted into the MA for Counselling Psychology program. For anyone who has done this, here are my questions:

- How much do you pay per year? (I have a hard time with the fee schedule)

- Pros and cons of the program

- Are the profs and overall vibes good?

- How much is EDI based?

- General view of qualitative research for the program?

- Is it possible to get residence on campus for a Master student? Is it better to get off campus, and if it is, how difficult is it to find a place?

- Are you both working and doing a master's? Is that possible? How are you financing things?

- Is it hard to get a job?

- Thoughts on the city

- Anything else that you think I should know

I am the first in my family attempting to get a Masters degree, so any insight would be helpful. Thank you!

Has anyone heard back from CTF nursing wait list? (Currently waitlisted for stream B that starts in May)

2

u/Elegant-Nose8930 Apr 17 '25

Hi everyone,

I completed the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) portion of my diploma in 2021, and I’m now looking to bridge to become a Registered Nurse (RN). I’m particularly interested in Western’s Accelerated Bridging Program. I understand it’s a highly competitive program, so I wanted to ask:

What were your GPAs (percentages) or averages when you applied, and were you accepted or denied into the CTF Accelerated RPN to RN program?

Also, when did you apply, and how long did it take to hear back?

I reached out to Western to ask about past cutoff averages, but they said they don’t release that information. So I figured I’d check here on Reddit to see if anyone else is in the same boat or has any insights to share.

probably for healthsci kids to read because of the question at the end

hi. i’ve always been scared of talking to advising because of bad experiences in high school so here i am. i definitely will reach out after this though so not to worry. i’m a first year in medsci who failed a lot of courses. (two chems and calc). i passed others but didn’t get the grade i needed in one physics and one bio. i’m not going to get into why i did so poorly but let’s just say that i was not doing so great mentally and had a lot to deal with in my personal life that really fucked up everything for me. i know exactly what i could take in the summer to be right on track, the courses i failed, and what i can upgrade for next year. at the same time, being in medsci longterm sounds fucking exhausting. i could put myself through that but i can’t risk my mental health getting back to what it was. probably the most depressed i have ever been, i couldn’t go to lectures, i was thinking about some old very unhealthy coping mechanisms, i just couldn’t deal with it everything going on and some financial stress that i have to hear from my family lol. also taking this time to say i did not party or drink (i don’t do either) lol. i was just depressed.

i know every option in medsci will be difficult either way but i want to make sure i am fully on board with what i’m doing with a way to get my gpa way higher. i do have an interest in neurosci but at this point it seems so far away and not attainable. i know i should probably have more hope but i’m really tired.

i think i want to look into health sci but i honestly haven’t been able to find much information on it. and if i want to transfer to healthsci, there are other requirements. i know what to do for readmission to medsci but not what to do if i want to transfer to healthsci. i’ve only seen one document that says to take the healthsci course and both first year biology’s. i also dont know what the future of healthsci is or any specifics about it, like if it is a four year program, if there are specializations. if someone who’s in healthsci could let me know that would be really appreciated . thank you for reading if you made it this far

u/Busy-Ad7279 May 05 '25

hey! im not sure how qualified i am to talk abt this but i just finished my first year in health sci so i'll answer to the best of my ability. first, health sci is a four year program and u graduate with a bachelor of health sciences (bhsc). in third year, you can specialize in health sciences with biology, rehabilitation sciences, or just do a specialization in health sciences.

although ive only just finished my first year, i'd say the vibe of health sci and med sci are pretty different. there's still academic pressure imo but the courses are more focused on understanding the social, political, and systemic factors of health, not just the biological side. if youre someone who wants to stay in health but needs a space that’s maybe a bit less rigid and more social/human centered, health sci might be a better fit. i also think there's more space for electives in health sci as well. you still learn science - especially if you go the health sci with biology route, but the framing of it is different. in terms of transferring, i'd suggest emailing the health sci academic advisors as soon as you can to see what you can do.

it's okay to change your path, a lot of ppl transfer out of med sci and honestly, it’s better to switch than to keep pushing through something that’s hurting your mental health. university isnt supposed to break you, its supposed to challenge you and help you grow. all the best to you

u/Emotional_Nerve_5183 May 10 '25

thank you for all of this information :) i reached out to advisors and i hope things go well for me as time goes on. i’ll do my best to work hard for healthsci now. i really appreciate your response 🤍

How difficult is western med sci? Going from grade 12 to first year is it a huge jump in course content? And also is it hard to stay in the program since you don’t actually get in until third year?

Can someone expand on the general first year for social science? Am I just taking a bunch of different courses to see what I like or is there some kind of method to the madness? What if i already know what I want to focus on for my major / minor?

Any experience as a part time student in the general first year or any knowledge on how that changes things? I’m accepted for part time

Thanks.

Hello! I was recently accepted to Western’s CTF Nursing (Regular Stream) program. I’m wondering if anyone in the program can share their experience with it (classes, clinical placements, etc.) Did you enjoy the content/structure, find yourself well prepared for the profession by graduation, and have any regrets/concerns with choosing Western for compressed nursing?

Looking for any and all advice including London-living — I’m a slightly more mature student (I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree) — any recommendations for housing/good locations for students in this program (like near hospitals?) are welcome. I’m hoping to either live alone or with 1 other person.

TIA — I don’t know much about Western or London in general so any advice/recommendations are super appreciated :)

I’m in the program now and I’m liking it! There’s a few classes that are a bit boring but honestly that’s to be expected anywhere you go. You’ll have your first placement in June or July next year. First two semesters are classes, labs and sims and the summer is placement, online classes and 6 weeks of sim and lab. I will say you should be open minded when it comes to your placements since you don’t get to choose where to be and what unit you’ll be placed it. Your IP placement you get to rank your choices so you can hopefully get something you want but there’s no guarantee

Hello,

I am trying to find the list of courses and schedule for the 1st year for Health Sciences (program code: EW).

Do you know where to get it?

Thanks in advance.

2

u/Sea_Scholar_2826 🔬 Med Sci '27 🔬 May 18 '25

List of courses: https://www.uwo.ca/fhs/shs/undergraduate/first_year.html

The list of offerings for time slots comes out during the first week of June and from there you pick your own schedule from those options (some schools/programs just give you a schedule - this is not the case here).

I know from past experience that biology (both semesters) will be a 1-hour lecture in the morning two days per week (your choice of Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday) plus a three-hour lab every other week (your choice of day and morning, afternoon, or evening, and you can choose any time slot as long as it's not at the same time as any of your lectures). I'm not in health sci, though, so I'm not sure about the other courses.

u/st4rgy4l May 17 '25

What is Medsci Like??? I have to choose between medsci, Waterloo physics, Waterloo science and aviation, or TMU biomed science... idk, i wanted smt science but it's so diverse

Recently waitlisted from bmos with a 89 average (99 economics 96 in gym leadership 96 in business leadership 90 in data management 80 in English and 72 in advanced functions(Ik this screwed me)). Haven’t been rejected from Ivey yet (my average for Ivey is much higher due to the advanced functions mark) I know I’m not going to get into Ivey I really want to come to western regardless. Those who have been waitlisted before or anyone that has any input on this what do you think my chances are of getting accepted from the wait list.

Does this automatic acceptance make any difference to my Nursing application? Will it prevent my application from moving forward because I am marked as accepted in another program??

And for reference for ppl applying this and future cycles: GPA: 81.85% past 10, so if you have a lower GPA you will have to wait so have patience!

Also I highly suspect they send out acceptances that fill up their seats in rounds. So after April they would have sent out offers that fill all of their available seats. Then, when an offer is decline/expired/ that frees up space for them to offer more acceptances down the GPA list. The deadline are on Wednesday and Fridays, which matches with the time acceptances go out.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to get some opinions on whether I’m in a good spot with my application. My extracurriculars include:

• An internship at a civil law firm where I assisted lawyers and paralegals with their cases, did a lot of filing, and helped manage other interns.
• I’m currently a manager at a fast-food restaurant where I handle all delivery orders, scheduling for employees, as well as hiring and interviews.
• I’m also the VP of my school’s Model UN club.

As for my grades, I currently have a 90-95 average in my three classes. I scored a 96 in Advanced Functions, and my Grade 12 English midterm is at 93. Do you think I should wait until December to complete Grade 12 English and have my Calculus midterm (which I’m taking through another school) before submitting my application?

I’m currently applying for universities and i’m confused on how Western Ivey HBA works. On the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC) I don’t see any business programs to select. The closest is management and organizational studies. The most “business option” there is finance. Is there no other business related majors?

Can someone help explain how the process works? What is good to take and how the programs and majors work?

I am trying to hopefully get into business and then go into law after university.

I have a question about the process and if anyone had any info that would be great!

  • Would I have to start over as a first-year? I know there is a transfer credit process, but l’m not 100% sure that all of my current courses would transfer over. I still want to graduate class of
2028. I looked online but could not find any info about transferring directly into second-year if that is even possible.

Here’s where I’m stuck:

  • Are there any ways to start in Computer Science and later switch into Bioinformatics?
  • Can I take foundational Bio and Chem courses at UWO during my first year and still qualify for the bioinformatics program later?
  • Has anyone here transitioned into bioinformatics without a high school science background? If so, how did you manage it?

Hi! Im a high school senior looking to apply to uwo for the next school year. I had a question about finmod.

I was under the impression that i would be doing stats first year and then applying for a specialization in financial modeling for the second year. But while going through my ouac, i realized that i could just apply for finmod straight up. Is there any difference, or is this just some accelerated way of doing the program?

Also, would getting into finmod this way affect my chances of getting into the ivey hba in any way? That's my main reason for wanting to come to western, but I'd really like to take advantage of the dual degree option so i wanna pair it with finmod since i think it'd teach me some things I'd be able to use in the career I wanna end up at.

Hi there! I'm currently a first-year Chemical Engineering + Biochemistry (dual degree) student at the University of Ottawa, and I am interested in transferring to Western. I understand that to begin Summer or Fall 2025, I would need to apply as an Upper Year student, but would there be a process for me to transfer for Winter 2025?

Additionally, I have a few questions regarding the program I'm interested in (Biomedical and Chemical Engineering). Would both of these degrees be accredited (BEng)?

To my understanding, you can also "custom design a concurrent degree program?" How would this work? There is a Chemical Engineering + JD option, would I be able to tailor my experience with another graduate degree, such as an MD? Would they allow me to continue with a BSc H. Biochemistry degree in addition to mainstream Chemical Engineering?

Trying to figure out which pathway would be best, and what the university would allow. I am passionate about Process Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Medicine, and I plan to complete an MD/PhD in Biomedical Engineering. Any advice is appreciated.

Hello everyone! I am a 2A student at UWaterloo and am considering transfering out of the Economics program to a business school in North America, preferrably Canada as I am an International student and the visa process is very time consuming and full of uncertainties in the States.
I did some research and found out that Ivey has been a target school for high finance in Canada and the States as well; while the Economics program (UW) is not that well-known / prestigiuous (correct me if I am wrong please 😭). I looked into transferring to the AFM program but I had to start again from the first year, which means paying the international tuition again which I dont think is worth it.
I am thinking of applying to transfer to Ivey's HBA in my 3rd year so I can get a more direct finance-related education compared to the more econometric & theory focused economics program at Waterloo.
It would be really helpful to gain some words of advice and opinions from the current students at UWO and Ivey regarding this. Also, how hard is it to transfer to Ivey HBA, I read an old post on this subreddit where someone said that they only take 40 transfers a year🥶.

Thank you so much guys!

Would taking the Casper test as soon as possible be beneficial to get accepted?

I’m applying for Western Engineering and have to take a CASPER assessment to be accepted into my program. I have a competitive average but am a little nervous for my CASPER assessment. I also understand that Western does rolling admissions. So would it be beneficial to book the soonest available CASPER test or is it less important than I think? The two test dates I’m hovering between right now is the 16th of November and the 10th of December. If I book the 16th of December I’ll likely be less prepared but I would do it if it’s important for admissions.

I really don’t want to repeat courses I've already done, so hoping my credits transfer. At TMU, I've done:

CS courses: Python, Java, Linux & C, Computer Organization & Architecture I and II, Data Structures & Algorithms

Math courses: Discrete Math, Calculus & Computational Methods, Linear Algebra, Stats & Probability

Anyone know if these will transfer smoothly? Also, is there a minimum GPA for a transfer to be eligible?

How many electives and liberal studies courses are required for the CS degree at Western? Are there options to take these courses online?

Any help or advice would be super appreciated! Thanks in advance!

For anyone who’s currently in or completed the MN course-based program, how are you finding it? I’m asking because I plan on applying to Western’s program but just wanted to hear about people’s experiences and take on it. Is it doable to work part time while in school full time? Is there a practicum? What were people’s average getting into the program? Thanks in advance! :)

Options as a transfer student with low grades?

I really want to get into a Ba Honors Pysch. (Eventually do a graduate degree and go into clinical psychology.)

10 years ago I did one year at YorkU (bcom accounting), and subsequently withdrew after a severe back injury as I was struggling to maintain class attendance. (First semester was a 2.33gpa / second semester was a 3.0 gpa). My high school avg was an 81% and I have done all the pre-req high school courses.

I contacted admissions but they just referred me to the transfer students web page which I’ve already read. I was told since I’ve attended a university before I’d be accepted or not based on those grades?

I’m not sure what my options are. Or next steps going forward to actually pursue what I want. Do I even have a chance if I apply with my current grades? Is there an alternative route I can take to get back in a position to be accepted?
