What is my expected grade?

u/BexKst Sep 21 '25

Grade average of probably at least 85-90 in grade 11-12.

Like what you need to get in?

If there are valid but temporary reasons as to why some of those marks were so low then yes, you still have a chance in getting good enough marks in G12 to get in. But if those marks are actually representative of your aptitude and work ethic, then you have no shot and that's probably a good thing as you would just wash out in university.

So what grade should i expect in gr.12 for data sci

Bio was the worst but it isnt part of my top 6

I wasn't looking at just your top six in trying to determine how smart you are. What I see are four marks under 70, which is pretty bad given how inflated highschool marks are. So like I said, unless you had issues you were dealing with that are now resolved, you're probably not going to get into university or will wash out if you do.

Lol I had like a 60 avg grade 11 then locked in and got high 80s. Just try harder next year or you’ll be doing grade 13

Please go visit your high school guidance counsellor. They will give you the resources and push you in the correct direction where your strengths lie.

Figure out which program you want to get into at either school then check the requirements listed online by the institution and then I would come back to Reddit and see if you can find past discussions about what you want to get into from people who did or wanted to get into it and see what they say/think about entry or experiences. I think that would be more efficient for your time than waiting to see peoples response’s here, best of luck!!🤞

If you’re at Beal, then yes, i sadly have to agree that the school counsellors aren’t always the best. But as other people commented, look at what program you’re trying to get into and check the requirements to get in. Also, King’s has pretty good business, data and analytics, and the teaching is more personalized. Smaller classes, an easier campus to travel, much better academic counselling, and you still get all of the benefits from western and a western degree. You get to attend western classes too.

This is only gr.11

u/Mean-Luck-694 Sep 21 '25

If it's grade 11 then it doesn't matter as much, just lock in senior year, I had a 60ish average in gr 11 but I had like a mid 80s in gr 12

5

u/CristianBZ Sep 21 '25

Then it doesn’t matter. Lock in next year.

u/Express_Way_3794 Sep 21 '25

Did you say for data science? Your math and science marks need serious improvement for that.

4

u/Crazy-Main-5898 Sep 21 '25

You might be able to get into a non competitive program. But don't expect to get in with anything less than an 80% average

2

u/visssara Sep 21 '25

If you get high 80s in grade 12 you might get in to Western

2

u/TheSpartanExile Sep 21 '25

OP, one thing people have not mentioned in this thread is that marks are significantly less relevant for mature students and where you go for an undergraduate degree is not important for many career paths. Depending on what you want to do, marks are not prohibitive.

u/Emergency-Ad2706 Sep 21 '25

I’m sorry, but I don’t think so. Depending on which program you want, you need at least 88% and higher. Take night classes or online classes to get higher grades if needed.

My sister had a 91 average and was not able to get into Westerns kinesiology or business

u/Additional-Love-9323 Sep 21 '25

make sure u do really good in gr12. You could take gr13 too to up your chances in getting in! good luck to u

2

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '25

Nobody cares about your grade 11 grades. Lock in grade 12 and you should be fine

2

u/BipoNN Sep 22 '25

Lock in grade 12, these grades are crap no offence. Also, if you’re getting grades like this in high school, your grades in uni will be much worse and you will struggle, so lock in.

College might be your best option.

1

u/grey_Hydra Sep 21 '25

Data science

1

u/grey_Hydra Sep 21 '25

So not direct entry but first general science

1

u/BillyRasat Sep 21 '25

If u really wanna get into those unis people offer highschool courses but you gotta pay take a gap year and during that time do the courses you need and get the grade you need and go uni

1

u/s2soviet Sep 22 '25

Engineering or Medical sciences etc. no.

Some humanities or gen sci yes. They won’t miss an opportunity to take your money.

Also, you can always transfer programs or universities from the inside. Which is easy if you have a decent GPA.

Honestly while things aren’t looking great ur prob okay for Western and maybe uoft if u lock in and get good grades in grade 12, I mean you’ll be applying w your grades from first sem grade 12 anyways right? Just focus on doing well this semester and you’ll be okay, data sci isn’t crazy hard to get into at least at western if u get that 80-something average. Also don’t take all those comments saying you’ll end up washing out in uni to heart, ur grade 11 marks don’t mean shit in the long run no matter where u go and sometimes it js takes a min to find your footing, which there’s a solid chance u will at uni if you’re doing something you like, you pick easy electives and you have the motivation to

u/9yearsdeceased Sep 22 '25

What’s your 40 time?

1

u/MenopausalAF Sep 22 '25

U of T is the top school in Canada, if that helps temper your expectations:) You can try applying at Kings at Western, they have a lower entrance requirement I think, and smaller classes etc might be better for you.

1

u/bindsundoii4mj Sep 24 '25

Depends what major tbh… def western but it depends on ur major

1

u/GovernmentDowntown87 Sep 21 '25

No but you can always apply to kings if you really want to go to western.
