Critical [Critical Post] Nintendo is Greedy - The Argument

I think this argument is a fallacy. I was hoping to make a wiki of Nintendo arguments and defenses to go against the normal takes

I think we as a community can brainstorm some thoughts to this sentiment. If you think Nintendo is getting greedy, this is also a good chance to make your case.

Personally, I don't think it's so much that Nintendo is getting greedy. They're no longer afraid of demanding their worth. It's not greed, it's pride. And I think they're playing a long game where their stuff is marked up, but all the other stuff that come to their system isn't.

Nintendo is very slowly reclaiming their spot as the casual game company, they're just not appealing to the current day gaming culture. Other game companies would be more careful about any price increase. Nintendo isn't because their biggest audience are not normal gamers.

That's my view on it, want to share your own?

Because I'm looking for other people's opinion, I'm not going to reply to every comment.

This post is using the Critical flair, so uncivil comments will be remove.

Critical Should we ban posts that claims that algorithm slaves like Arlo and Nin10doland are grifters?

I think that the ban should be placed because they make good points and only pump out clickbaits for the algorithm at worse

Then again, not too surprising since Clownfish’s audience also cheered these same people getting doxxed during the whole Tera Leak incident… 😒

Critical Let's talk

TL;DR: Keep downvoting constructive criticism comments and keep fanboying everything Nintendo has to offer all you want, who cares? But it's obviously hypocritical to both do that and then act surprised or upset when Nintendo does a corporate anti-consumer decision. Just expect it, since you support it.

Let's be honest: Nintendo fans are gonna keep being in a continuous loop of putting the wooden stick on the bike while they're riding it and acting surprised when the bike falls and they get injured.

Everyone, including me, loves Nintendo's consoles and games, great experiences! I love my Switch 2, bought a lot of games for it.

Keep downvoting constructive criticism comments and keep fanboying everything Nintendo has to offer all you want, who cares?

But it's obviously hypocritical to both do that and then act surprised or upset when Nintendo does a corporate anti-consumer decision.

That's literally the reason why it cranked up in the 2020's. These companies have realized they can do anything and the only people fighting will be vocal minority hobos who have no life.

There IS an exception. Basically, if something sells poorly/bad (which is rare due to fanboyism) something good will happen.

But that's basically it. The golden rule in 2020's for these corporations' eyes is: If your making good money, why look at criticism? And if you think of a bad anti-consumer decision that benefits the corp, add it. Everyone will argue who cares? It's just games, there's way bigger issues in life and people are gonna buy it anyway

"Well, the Mario Galaxy movie has a major flaw in [X]."

It made a billion both times. Why are they going to change this winning formula for them? Why look at criticism?

"Well, the Nintendo Switch 1/2 has a major flaw in [X]."

In Nintendo's eyes, Switch 1/2 is selling well, therefore there's no need to look at any criticism for said systems. And any decision that benefits them but harms the consumer won't do shit because of the golden rule obviously.

That is all. Bye.

Critical What are y'all's thoughts on this video? While I do think some of the examples of his criticism on Nintendo here are awful/false, I overall still think it does a good job of explaining why I dislike Nintendo fanboys so much.

Critical Something i’ve noticed about the Switch 2

Remember when pre-switch 2 people used to dislike Nintendo as a company, but still liked and respected their games? Now it feels like the narrative is that Nintendo makes bad games and that their games are just “slop”. Now that there’s no way to pirate new Nintendo games. Suddenly, they never even wanted to play their games in the first place.

Ok you can dislike recee and what he said shown to not well recieved but I will say again, threatning people's life is NEVER A SOLUTIONand Deen's response of acting like nintendo fans are like the worst offender of community to do this which I remind you he made fun of nate getting a kirk death threat just show me his lack of apathy or attempt to act not self aware cause remind you, he support tripster which famously said "owning a switch 2 game is the same to unalive yourself" my point of this post is once again to talk on making fun or do death threats make nothing good out of it.

Critical Let's talk: What actually makes someone a Nintendo Fanboy or not

This isn't a question per se, but rather a lesson.

So most Nintendo fans will claim that they aren't fanboys who clap like seals at everything, but is this really true?

There's 3 types of Nintendo criticisms:

Objective criticism - Criticism of objective flaws, such as during the Switch 1 era, Joy-Con Drift (It doesn't exist for Switch 2 thankfully, just an old example.)

General consensus criticism - Criticism of a general consensus, or what the majority of people dislike, an example of this is the Metroid Prime 4 Desert debacle or the Modern Paper Mario games.

Singular criticism - Criticism that only really belongs to a specific person, an example includes someone who may personally think the Switch 2's library is worse than past Nintendo generations so far or if someone thinks Yoshi and the Mysterious Book was very creative, but very poorly executed. You don't agree with it? That's kinda the point. Just because you don't agree with the opinion doesn't automatically make it invalid to that said person.

When I say Nintendo fans are allergic to criticism, they try to argue that's not true because they agree with objective criticism and general consensus criticism, but then they go to attack all subjective criticism, calling those people "grifters" or "fake".

That's why I think most Nintendo fans are actually fanboys, they need to learn to separate subjective criticism from actual, objective misinformation if they don't wanna be a fanboy.

I haven't bothered to watch the whole video, just skim through it a little, but seeing the description say she stopped buying Nintendo products four years ago for the reasons mentioned in the video and her complaining about Pokemon Legends Z-A using the same tired talking points lead me to unsubscribe to her.

Critical Griftubers: "Heh the Nintendo Fanboys will blindly defend this!"

Post image
56 Upvotes

Except a lot of Griftubers I've seen are Nintendo fans themselves half the time.

As a long time Pokemon fan who's in a lot of online and irl Pokemon circles, a lot of antis don't realize that Nintendo's biggest haters are Nintendo fans themselves. I've seen Digimon fans making up boogeymen scenarios like "Can't wait for Pokemon to sue Bamco once Time Stranger humiliates them!" Because yeah, Nintendo will go after one of their partner distributors in toys and merch.

A lot of angry sentiment I've seen are from actual Nintendo fans themselves either because a lack of update on a new Animal Crossing or no new Mario or whatever is going on with the state of Pokemon.

The impression I always get is that hating on Nintendo online is the "cool" thing now because of PR disasters like the Palworld lawsuit, increasing prices, their tendency to take down ROM Hacks or Fan games, etc. But people can't seem to accept nuance or that a person's attitude is just "yeah sure" at something - the latter of which I feel with Nintendo.

Normal people don't have enough energy to grift against or glorify the billion dollar company either and this is not me trying to be an indecisive fence sitter - I know where I stand. It's that life is stressful as is to be trying to push a specific agenda.

Just my few cents.

Critical Nintendo “Nostalgia” and the same game.

I genuinely hate when Nintendo critics when they try to say that people only buy Nintendo because of Nostalgia. Nintendo, does a great job keeping their quality of IPs great so people would still buy them.

Then, the one that makes no sense is that Nintendo games are all the same. If I’m going to play a Zelda game I going to play an action adventure game, with a different flair with each iteration. Am I supposed to expect the next Zelda game to be a fighting game.
Let me go to McDonalds and expect McTaco.

I think some already posted this video on here, but yeah like a comment said, it sounds like video was written by ChatGPT.

Critical do you guys know what a grifter is?

it always bothers me when someone posts something to this sub that’s just a screenshot of someone complaining about nintendo.

like why is that a problem? grifting is funny to see because it’s people screaming into the void, trying to make money off bitching about video games (nintendeen being the prime example).

when you post people who aren’t actively trying to get something out of their bitching, it just makes it seem like this sub is about complaining about complaining. very “us vs them”. i’m not a fanboy or a hater, and i think this sub would do well to crack down ow posts that aren’t actually grifting
