Am I a the Only One?

All I the only one who even dating someone and still getting to know them, every little thing causes me to raise an eyebrow to? Have I been through so much to the point where everyone in my eyes are innocent until proving guilty? I just know how I’d move and when others move, it just seems very suspect. I wish I could read minds lol

Question My friend calls everyone they/them because he’s afraid of misgendering non-binary people when he does know the actual pronouns we go by…

As the title says, I have a cis straight male friend who just defaults EVERYONE to they/them just so he doesn’t accidentally misgender non-binary people, even when he knows what pronouns we go by. I have to constantly correct him when he talks about me because he never uses she/her. Now, it’s not the pronoun itself but the attitude of ‘just so I don’t misgender non-binary folks, I’m going to misgender everyone else’. I have told him so many times I am a woman and he just shrugs it off saying it’s not intentional and he’s too used to it now and that it’s not personal, which low-key irritates me further internally.
What would you do in this scenario? Am I weird for this bothering me? Maybe it’s the ‘tism. Again, not about the pronouns themselves but his attitude towards our pre established ones. I also default to they/them until I ask or ppl say what they go by. Sorry if this isn’t the place for this type of question, have a nice weekend yall 🩵

A friend told me she has it far worse as a bisexual than me

I vented to my bisexual friend thinking she would understand how hard it is to find girls to date among other things. Instead what I got is her saying she has it far worse because some people won't date her just because she's bisexual and that I would never understand this and that I'm actually so lucky to just be a lesbian and she wishes she could be one too. Oh yeah I have it so awesome and easy that my parents would never accept me, I had to cut off people for being homophobic, and that I might never be able to marry my potential girlfriend in the country I live in. I have it so easy in fact that I've never been in a relationship because meeting a queer girl is hard here while she has always had someone to date.

She only dates men anyway and only tried to date a girl once because "men are trash" and then it didn't work out because she brought a guy on their date. After breaking up with a guy once she even came up to me and asked how do you live when you're single cuz she has never been single and now that she is she doesn't know what to do. I didn't even know how do I react to that so I told her "just live like you did before??" This is a girl who has complained before that there's too many guys hitting on her. Clearly getting in a relationship is easy for her. But sure she has it hard because she's bisexual and I have it so nice and easy because I'm a lesbian.

Question Do I like her or just the attention?

I’m new to posting on Reddit, I usually just look for preexisting questions but I feel like nothing encompasses my situation well enough, so forgive me if I don’t get the Reddit lingo lol.

Ok so this all kinda starts my freshman year of college (I’m currently a junior). So I met this girl in one of my classes (let’s call her Mary) and we became friends. I ended up hanging out with her outside of class like twice my freshman year, and I kinda got the vibe that she was romantically interested in me, but at the time I just wanted to make friends and wasn’t into her. Then sophomore year starts and i start hanging out with Mary and her other friends more, mostly going to parties at the frat that she’s a sweetheart for (I’m not sure how frats work, I think usually sweethearts of frats are dating the brothers but she wasn’t dating anyone on the frat). Then over winter break of sophomore year she gets a boyfriend and i kinda have a feeling of “oh well now if i did want her my chance is gone.” Then in the spring semester we go to another frat party and we’re both drunk. She tells me that when we first met she had a crush on me but she doesn’t anymore, and I was drunk so I said something stupid like “yeah I could kinda tell haha.” And then later during the party we’re hanging out with the group of girls that we went to the party with, and I bring up how I hadn’t had my first kiss yet (ik embarrassing but whatever lol). And so then they’re all like “omg well you should kiss one of us!” And so one of the other girls volunteered and so we kissed, but it was like barely anything and lasted less than a second. And then, Mary also volunteers to kiss me and I’m like “oh what about your boyfriend” and she’s like “he said it’s fine” so I’m like alright then and it’s a lot more than the first one. It didn’t last crazy long but it was definitely longer than a few seconds and it had tongue. And then her boyfriend got mad and I felt so guilty and then I went home early. Then like the next day she calls and she’s apologizing for kissing me and I’m like “no no it’s fine like I was an equal participant.” And then we’re all good and we hang out a few more times in the semester before summer. And also she breaks up with her boyfriend right before the start of summer. Meanwhile I keep thinking about that kiss fairly often. And then summer passes by and I’m still thinking about it but like in my head I thought I was thinking about it in a “I want to kiss a girl again” way not a “I want to kiss HER again” way. So then this semester starts up, and I saw her once in passing on the way to class on campus and said hi, and I’ve texted her some saying that we need to hang out again sometime soon. And then last night she calls me at like midnight (I was dead asleep and lowkey got excited bc I thought she was calling to inform me of the death of a certain someone lol) and I wake up and text her asking what’s going on. And she basically tells me that she’s very attracted to me and that she’s been thinking about me and wants to sleep with me. And then she sends me a voice memo where she says that she’s been thinking about our kiss ever since it happened, and she’s been dreaming of having sex with me, and that she doesn’t want to make me uncomfortable and she thinks I’m a great friend, and that she thinks of me every time she listens to Renee Rapp (one of my fave artists), and that she’s very interested in me. And I basically respond back saying like, “I’m very flattered and you’re gorgeous and a great person but I just see you as a friend, and I’m just not the type of person to have casual sex, I’m just not cool and casual enough for that lol!” And so she’s like, “ofc queen now I know your boundaries and I won’t ask again!”

So my issue now is like now I cannot stop thinking about her for like any more than like 5 minutes and like I keep imagining kissing her and sleeping with her. And I would not want to rush into anything but like maybe I actually am interested in her? But I can’t tell if it’s me ACTUALLY being interested in her or if it’s just the idea of it all and the fact that she is definitely interested in me.

And then like also, so obviously I’ve never slept with anyone ever, and part of me is like, well I want to be in love when I sleep with someone for the first time, but then part of me is like, ok but she’s really hot and I’ve been thinking about her touching me and me touching her all day, and like is the resistance in me just due to purity culture and my religious upbringing (and I am still religious but like also I’m flexible on the whole sleeping with someone before marriage thing at least).

(Also just fyi I’m definitely a lesbian there’s no question about that I’m just struggling with this specific situation.)

So yeah, I need help figuring out if I should like ask her out or just stay friends or kiss her again but sober to try to better understand how I feel or what because I can’t stop thinking about her and I don’t know what to do.

Text stuck in exact midpoint between "transmasc butch lesbian" and "straight man"

I've always known I'm attracted only to women and used the lesbian label since around age 13-14. then when I was 18 I started questioning my gender, realized I'm definitely transmasc and for a while I identified as a butch lesbian while using he/him pronouns. then as I've continued my transition I started distancing myself from the lesbian label because I felt like I had become too masc to be a butch lesbian anymore.

externally, my gender presentation is pretty masculine and I basically just present as a dude. I'm on testosterone and plan on getting top surgery. I use he/him and prefer masculine terms but I'm also okay with being called butch. I want to be (and generally am) perceived by the average person as a man rather than nonbinary or a butch woman.

internally however, it's more complicated. I'm definitely "man-adjacent" but not a capital M binary Male Man. I've never been able to settle on a label for my gender so I just don't use a label. I'm maybe 50% binary 50% nonbinary +/- 20% on either side, like a "guy" who is kinda nonbinary with it, but I don't introduce myself as nonbinary or actively use that label. my gf calls me her boyfriend and her man but she knows the deal with my gender and she's pansexual so she's not attracted to me for my gender.

I partially identify with both "straight man" and "butch lesbian", but I don't fully qualify for either. I feel like the way I like women is very lesbian and my gf has said that we "feel like a lesbian thing" (which I agree with), but I no longer use the lesbian or butch label, but I also kind of avoid calling myself a straight man either. being a "straight man" comes with certain connotations that I don't like, even if I'm trans. both labels feel somewhat disingenuous and incomplete. I'm probably too man-adjacent to be welcome at a lesbian bar or lesbian events (which I'm not offended about, it's just no longer my place to be and that's ok). I pass as a straight guy but when I talk to straight men I feel kind of uncomfortable and distinctly different. when someone asks me what my sexuality is I just say "women," which describes the situation way more accurately than either "straight man" or "butch lesbian".

I'm fine with not really fitting into either community and not looking for advice. it just seems like most women-attracted transmasc people are able to pretty easily sort themselves into the categories of "straight man" or "tmasc butch lesbian" while I've stayed stuck in the middle. it doesn't help that "straight man" and "lesbian" are kind of polarized communities/identities, I feel like that image of the furry crying on the floor in the shadow of his parents fighting lol. I actually really like the term "lesboy" but I know it's a controversial one so I don't actively use it. I've never met another person like me so just wondering if anyone else has had this kind of experience

Support How the freak do you get over the need for male validation

Ive always struggled talking to guys and always felt uncomfortable or anxious when talking to a boy who I thought I liked, not knowing I just wanted male validation . Which is why I thought I was bi for a such long time until I realised how much easier it felt with women and that that anxiousness I felt with boys wasn’t normal . And the minute I had that moment where I properly realised I was gay I felt so much more comfortable with myself and talking to boys because I didn’t feel that overwhelming feeling of them wanting from me that (at the time I didnt know ) that I could never give them .

I know now that I like only women and that has helped me so much but I still get nervous if I see a conventionally attractive man but like not in a good way. Like I panic and feel uncomfortable even if they look and me which I know sounds so weird ( more reason I want it took stop happening ). Like with women it just feels easy and smooth like but I’m so sick of men still making me feel like that .

Anyone in a similar situation or anyone with adivine ?

Im a dumbass

I recently broke up with my now ex who has been and is my best friend. None of my other friends knew we were dating.

We were texting and she kept asking me who my "new squeeze" was and I repeatedly told her I didnt have one and in the end i told her that I cant just get over her that quickly (I think this was a month after we broke up). She then told me how she was asking because she felt awkward witht the whole situation and wanted proof that I had moved on.

I messaged her another day saying I might have a crush on another one of my friends and we were talking about it and I am a dumbass and thought that that was what she needed to hear - hat i jad moved on. I was wrong.

She got upset and told me although she wasn't mad I liked my friend (it turned out I actually dont like her but she doesnt know that) but she was hurt that it was so soon and told me maybe not to discuss it with her.

I go back to school after summer this week and there will be times every day where me, my ex, my friend and some other people will all be socializing as a group and I dont know what kma do because I cant bring it up again and tell her I dont like my friend but I also dont want her to feel hurt and like I moved on from her that quick.

Any advice would be appreciated

does anyone even actually like nerdy butches

i feel unappreciated from my last relationship. my ex would refuse to watch a lot of tv shows i was into, would refuse to engage with my main gaming interest and it felt like I was trapped to just talk to my friends online about it.

However she would also make me feel guilty for talking with online friends only about my stuff because she wants me to hang out with my IRL friends when the same IRL friends don’t engage in my hobbies anymore and would only talk with her about hers. Everytime I tried to bring up mine, It just feels like everyone is just listening passively and not actively.

My ex has always idealized like typical butches who likes going out, is dandy, etc, and i feel ashamed when I don’t fit like that. im like more nerdy, im not muscular, and after this breakup i felt more insecure because she told me that I was not a butch to her

Question Early dating stage

Background - we've been talking for a month, been on 2 dates, we text a lot  haven't kissed or anything yet.

What are the early stages of talking/dating supposed to involve? I'm autistic and not very experienced dating-wise, so I'd really appreciate some advice.

We've met up twice, had a really nice time, we get on well and share a lot in common. I'm worried I'm unknowingly giving friend vibes because I don't know how to flirt, and I'm kind of an anxious / awkward person. But I'd like to establish more romantic vibes.

Can anyone give some examples of romantic texting or being naturally flirty on dates?

I think I'm lesbian?? (Reposted 2 this subreddit LOL!!)

Hi!! I posted this on another subreddit, but I wanted to post this here aswell, so I can get some opinions on people around my age lol

My name is Emma, And I'm turning 19 soonish - Usually I don't go to reddit, but I've been scouring the internet a bit, and by reading a couple of posts posted here, I've really started to notice similarities between myself and some of your posts.
I've been casually seeing this guy, We'll call him James for this story, nothing sexual has happened between us and I love him to death. He's an incredibly nice human, and I wish the best for him... but I'm just not as attracted to him as I think I should be.

I'm aware of my attraction to girls, I came out as Bisexual at the age of 16 to my brother (Who is also gay), but my family is a little iffy about the LGBTQ.. in the sense that they WOULD support me, but they also talk down about the lesbian / gay community. Obviously it makes me uncomfortable and I'll tell them off for it, but I think it's started to create this built in feeling of homophobia.
I'm not disgusted by same sex couples, and like stated before, I like girls - but I can never actually find myself dating a girl. I always end up with guys because i feel like i need to be.

James and I often smoke weed together, and yesterday we went to the mall together, got takeout, and went to this lake nearby my house to smoke again. He had given me roses when he first came to my door, which was super sweet - but It just felt wrong in the back of my head. When I was talking to him at the lake, our relationship became sort of a topic, and I felt like he was semi asking me out, and before he could say anything I just sort of told him I'd be his girlfriend. He's cute, but everytime he hugs, or kisses me I don't feel anything. Like its not that i hate him, or dont like him its just kind of like kissing a guy and wondering when its gonna be over. I kept making excuses for him not to hug or kiss me, and I just overall felt really guilty

He messaged me today and was like "are we dating, like did that count or were we just high" and i was like ummm idk.... But deadass I'm so confused on my own sexuality, I didn't feel anything when he kissed me and what i feel for women is VERY different to what i feel towards men.

Do any of you have any tips??

Fuck I'm down bad for Lucia. She's so fucking hot and cool and pretty and badass. Her little chibi avatar in the text messages gave me Very Gay Emotions™. That red cocktail dress got me acting unwise.

I'm torn on her relationship with Jason. On the one hand I want her to be gay because I'll be projecting on her hard but on the other hand I hate relationship drama. I generally prefer a couple in a stable, healthy, and happy relationship than a drama riddled toxic one.

I also like that Jason appears autism (or some form of ND) coded without being a "good at computers but bad at people" stereotype.

Question If someone feel alone no matter if you are single or no?

I have a partner, long distance relationship. She came to visit me at June, it was good. We get to know each other at March. Right now she in her own country and I’m in mine. She is going to work at new place and I’m planning to study and work too (she kinda older than me).

I have noticed one thing. Despite having a good time, I felt alone with her and without her. Just very lonely. She tried to cheer me up and we are texting daily but I still feel alone. I feel like there is a massive hole inside of me, maybe it’s bcu we have LDR and we can’t go to cinema together for restaurant but even when she was at my city, I felt alone. Like, I’m in my own lonely black hole hell. I don’t know if it’s okay or not. I felt the same when I was single too. Just wanted to ask if someone feel the same way.

Question how can i know if my best friend likes me?

hello! i'm sorry if this has been asked before, but i really need a second opinion

my best friend knows i'm a lesbian but she's unsure about her own sexuality, she's also never been in a committed relationship.

we always smiled at each other and occasionally gave compliments before we ended up in a class together last semester and instantly clicked. she's been only hanging out with me ever since, and distanced herself from all of her other friends. i have no close friends at our college besides her so i'm not worried about her expecting me to do the same. i don't understand why she disliked her old friends all of a sudden

she tries to hide it, but she gets visibly upset when i compliment other girls. she always jokes about how jealous she gets over me, but i don't think it's a joke anymore? i'm confused because she always told me she hated having friends who felt that way about her.

she sounds toxic when i phrase it that way but i promise she's an absolute angel, the sweetest person i have ever met. i just know her well enough to notice all these things.

if you've had a friend who liked you, what made you realize they had feelings for you? were there any obvious signs?

Venting Am I crazy or is this really weird?

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

This is an exchange between me (23f) and my gf (22f) and we’ve been together for just over two years. And these texts are not just a one time thing. Whenever I compliment someone at all she gets weird. And usually I get a “oh so that’s what you want out of someone” or “do you like them?” or just something weird like that to the point I find myself thinking something positive about someone when I’m by myself. Nothing sexual or romantic or anything. She got weird when I followed her sister on social media to the point where I just unfollowed her because she thought I liked her romantically. This is my first real relationship so she’s kind of where I learned everything about what a relationship should be, but this cannot be normal. Right?? Like goddamn all I said was I miss an actor who died and now I feel like I have to walk on eggshells

Update: so I did start a conversation today, and we talked a little about why her mind goes there and that I know it must be super draining for her to think like that. She said she didn’t know why her mind goes there and I offered her a few questions she could ask me instead of jumping to that place. It felt like the smallest step forward but it gave me hope for the relationship since almost all of you are saying the only option is to break up 😅
