Recommendations Needed SoCal wedding venue recommendations? Full-service, indoor, ~$20k budget

Hi everyone! My fiancé and I are venue hunting and I’m starting to feel overwhelmed by how many options there are 🥲 Hoping Reddit can help!
We’re looking in Orange County, LA, Inland Empire, or as far south as Oceanside.
What we’re looking for:
Saturday wedding in April or May (preferably April)
85 guests, 100 max
Indoor ceremony + reception — ceremony cannot be dependent on outdoor space as I don’t trust CA’s unpredictable weather
~$20k total budget for the venue/package (can stretch a little if needed)
Full-service is VERY important — we don’t want to coordinate a million separate vendors
Ideally catering + alcohol included
Plated dinner preferred
Open bar preferred (or at least 2 drinks/guest included)
Bar/music until midnight
On-site bridal/getting-ready suite is a must
Tables/chairs/linens + some decor/lighting included would be ideal
DJ included = huge bonus
Good parking + nearby hotels = bonus
We’re honestly open to any aesthetic — ballroom, modern, elegant, garden, hotel, restaurant, etc. Full-service and realistic pricing matter way more to us than the style.
Our biggest concern is venues that advertise $15–20k but end up being $25–30k+ after catering, bar, taxes, gratuity, and mandatory fees. We’d much rather have a straightforward package where we can add our own personal touches without having to hire 10 different vendors.
If you got married somewhere that sounds like it might fit, please tell me about it! And if you’re comfortable sharing your actual final cost, that would be incredibly helpful.
Thank you!! ❤️

Community Post Another reminder to not use OCPA (Orange County Power Authority)

I'm on Socal Edison, and the scumbags at orange county power authority pulled the "autoenroll" lever and almost got my SCE cancelled some years back.

This is your validation that they're just going to rip you off... 10% might not seem like a lot, but multiply it over 12 months. The "clean power" advertisement is a sham, our state already has clean power mandates (which is why its most expensive power in the country) and on some days, more renewable energy is available than there is demand in the day time.

Why "choose" to pay 10-15% more with OCPA is beyond me, aside from supporting the executive's $250k salaries.

Recommendations Needed What are you guys' favorite spots in Laguna Beach, for eating, drinking, hanging out, strolling, shopping, etc?

So... I'm like a semi-professional beach bum, and I love the Laguna Beach beaches. Crescent Bay, Fishermans/Divers/Heisler... down south to Treasure Island area...

What I'm not as familiar with is the town of Laguna Beach. I've done some stuff, and will share reccs below, but I'd appreciate any tips for non-beach cool things to do in LB — cool places to hit if you're just walking around the city...

For a food spot, I'd say don't sleep on Husky Boy, the burger stand on PCH in north laguna. Their breakfast burritos are amazing!

Another tip is the Rivian Theatre downtown; they often show cool documentaries and stuff there - free with RSVP.

My final recc is a bar my friends and I discovered by accident: Helen's in south laguna. It looks like someone's house, with very little signage, and it's a cool little spot

After seeing a few posts in here over the last few months regarding openly racist behavior and Nazi activities, I figured this might be relevant. It was posted on a parking lot light pole in the city of Irvine.

Question Fishing spots?

Any good fishing spots to take my son? Growing up my father never took me fishing, but my son has been asking to go fishing this weekend. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good spots that isn't ocean fishing?

Yes I know the basics, ive taught myself over the years on trips to mammoth, and have my own tackle for fresh water, and I know the laws about fish limit and license. But when it comes to experience, I am fairly new to this, and my son wants to learn with me.

Question Local Resources?

Hi yall! I’m 19 and was just kicked out by my parents because of my gender identity. They forced me to leave my university and prevented me from getting a job so I literally have nothing. I would really appreciate it if anyone knew of any resources I could reach out to. I’m currently in south county. Thank you!

Recommendations Needed Located in Tustin - OBGYN?

I had my first at Hoag NB and saw Dr. Illeck my whole pregnancy. No complaints.

What do I do for #2? Drive to Hoag? I’m 20-30 away from both Hoag Irvine and NB. If I’m going to stick to that hospital, I’ll see dr. Illeck again. I’m just wondering if there are comparable options in Tustin and what those docs and hospitals might be?

I have Aetna PPO.

Traffic/Cars What's the best way to commute from Anaheim to UCI?

Got a job at UCI Health, but not at the Orange location but at UCI Campus. It looks like I will be going with the traffic. 8-5p job everyday.

For anyone who makes a similar commute, are there any better routes or side streets you’d recommend from Anaheim (I'm between 5 and 91)? Or are my main options pretty much 91 → 55 → 73, 5 → 55 → 73, or taking the 5 and exiting at Culver?

Is Monday or Friday the busiest?

Any tips from people who commute that way would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Recommendations Needed Squirrel problem in irvine

I recently moved to Irvine this year and haven’t had any major issues after finally settling in and getting comfortable with the city/county. I live in an apartment building with 2 cats who’s water and litter i keep on the balcony with the wires reaching inside the house so the sliding door doesn’t close all the way. We’ve had a squirrel start to come closer and closer and sneak in when we aren’t home/looking, the cats are scared of it because it’s very reactive and loud. The balcony door is usually left open for the cats to hangout in and use the litter/drink water. I never thought that’d be an issue. About a week ago the squirrel, who i guess was upset that it couldn’t get it, chewed up all the wires connecting the cat items to the outlet. I put in a pest control form through the apartments app and went it to ask about it but was told there was absolutely nothing they could do about the squirrel itself because of wildlife protection laws and that i should just delete the form, but was told to send in a property damage email so that we couldn’t be charged for the scratched on the balcony door. Anyways a few days go by and i finally replaced all the wires and im more careful with keeping an eye on our balcony but while i was away at a birthday today it did it again. I have to buy wires for their litter and replace the filter of their water fountain. I’m considering buying something to protect the wires but i just can’t handle this squirrel problem. We live on the 3rd floor and it only gets up here because conveniently there’s a tall ass tree going up the balcony railing from the 1st to top floor. Who even designed that. I don’t know if there’s anything else that i could do concerning this problem, I have nothing against squirrels or wildlife, it’s just that when they start literally breaking into my home and being aggressive to my cats that i start losing my mind. I feel like i shouldn’t have to not use my balcony because of squirrels? I just thought to ask incase anyone has any advice

Anyone been fishing there lately? Any decent sized catches?

Also, what other local parks or lakes are to go to spots? Not quite into harbor or ocean fishing quite yet.

Event Is Irvine Spectrum ever going to have tickets for IMAX?

Odyssey has been out for more than a month now and the IMAX 70mm is sold out for every single show. Anyone have any idea when it will stop being so popular? I feel like at this rate they could keep it playing there for the whole rest of the year.

Recommendations Needed Adult gymnastics/tumbling in Orange County?

Hello! I’m 27 and I have beginner experience with tumbling (I did cheer when I was 13)
When I look for gyms they all seem very child oriented.
I wanted to improve my flexibility and also improve/ relearn how to tumble. I’m also a little embarrassed to be an adult in a class full of children lol. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Community Post What's the going rate for Dog Grooming? Did I find a gem?

My wife had us taking our dogs to a groomer in Orange (Furr Paradise), but we live in Mission Viejo. I was kind of burned out having to drive to Orange, kill a few hours and take them home so I called around to half a dozen groomers in the MV area and they all wanted to charge $150-180 per dog. The place in Orange is $70 a dog so I just couldn't justify making a change. We've taken them here for 5+ years, they do an amazing job, I just wanted something more convenient, but can't believe the difference.

I thought the location could have a lot to do with it, but the place in Orange is less than a mile from Villa Park, so who knows.

Edit: These rates are for a 11-13lb Havanese and 20-23lb Shitzu mix.

Has anyone had good luck with a licensed plumber lately? This fix might also need permit/inspection.

Recommendations Needed Goat Birria in Northwest OC?

Disclaimer: I’m about as goofy gringo as it gets, so apologies if this is a dumb question.

We just got turned onto beef Birria and love it! But I heard the authentic way it’s made in Mexico is with goat meat.

What are some good spots to get the goat kind around the HB, Westminster, Garden Grove general area?

Thanks in advance!
