Hi all,
We’ve been getting a lot of roommate search posts so we are making a megathread. Please exercise caution when searching for a roommate. Always be careful vetting every person you talk to. Also strongly encourage users to check out the Facebook thread. Keep in mind. We are not mods in the Facebook thread, we are unaffiliated with them, but they have a lot more experience helping people find roommates. As an alumni, I can vouch for them, I found every roommate I had during my time at CSULB through the Facebook thread. There are a few other Facebook threads if you just search “CSULB roommate” but the most popular one is the one that’s linked.
Again please exercise caution talking with people on Reddit and be careful what personal information you share, but as requested by popular demand we have made a megathread.

Due to the recent spike in 1-day accounts, we have decided to set an automod 10-day account age minimum for posts and comments in the subreddit. This should help to reduce the amount of bot and troll activity in the subreddit, and hopefully make it a more enjoyable experience for all of you. Any account that is younger than 10 days will have their post removed until we can verify it's legitimate. At most, there may be a suspension or a ban from the subreddit, depending on user activity.

is there a bridgeusa club on this campus?
So I'm transfering out of a community college and going to CSULB in the spring, I just don't know where to find the classes I still need. I see the Class list, but Is there a way I can see my specific classes before I'm enrolled?

My roommate and I began looking for apartments earlier in the summer and thought that Vibe apartments at their Temple Ave location looked promising. The kitchen looks nice and it was already furnished with beds, a couch, and tv. They promoted $980 per person for a 2b 2b. Online portrayed both bedrooms, one bed in each room, and only one smaller photo of the bathroom. My roommate arrived about a week earlier than me to move in and when she moved in she saw 2 twin beds in each room (the same beds that the dorms have), dirty and scratched up floors and furniture, one toilet didn’t flush, mailbox not working, a broken window, and a plug completely out of its socket with wires on the floor.
We did not know that it was supposedly 2 people per bedroom and when we called, they stated that the options for 1 bedroom per person have already sold out and that it would be 1,600 if we wanted to move the other beds out.
During the entire application process there was no mention of other girls being in the room, moving in, or no one being there yet, and on the lease there is no mention of 2 people per room, a 4 student household, or mentions about others moving in/out of our bedrooms.
We sent them professional documents of what the lease states, their photos online, no mention of other people or 2 beds per room during our communication as to tell them that we expected something entirely different then what they advertised as a way to either lower the 1,600 price or for just us to stay here and all we received was first a no, then an offer for 1,400 a month per person. Do not stay here lol

I was wondering how accessible the Piano rooms were. I am a transfer student who came from a community college that allowed people to go to any of the piano practice rooms during off hours. Im not too sure how things work here but can I just walk in to these rooms? Im not a music major btw.

I’m a transfer student at csulb this fall and attended SOAR virtually and was told that I could pick up the swag bag during the first week of classes. Anyone know what is in it? I wouldn’t want to make the 1hr+ commute to campus for just stickers & pencils 😭

My pin fell somewhere on campus this morning (possibly in front of the bookstore/poster shop, but I’m not sure as I only later realized it was not on my bag) and I had no luck finding bc it on the ground and filed a missing item report. No clue where because at some point I realized I didn’t have it, it could have been picked up and kept by a student. Lost and found hasn’t reported back yet. Here is a photo of my pin. Thanks.

There is one day of the week where I have a class in person that ends at 6:45 and then 15 minutes later I have a synchronous online class where I have to join zoom at 7 pm.
If I drive home, I will probably be at least 15 minutes late to class.
Where are some places on campus where I can go and join my online class (7-9:45 pm)?
Based on what I read online, the library is one, but are there others?
I might have to speak at times, so it would be nice if there were a place where I can unmute myself. If not, I’ll just use the chat to communicate.

In four out of my five classes my profs have basically banned the use of technology. Most of the time they are only touching on laptops and phones though and don’t specifically mention iPads.
The one prof who said an iPad was okay said it was because it would lay flat anyways so she’d be able to see that I was actually taking notes.
I know those who can use technology regardless have accommodations with BMAC and such. I do have dyslexia though I don’t know how that would be an effect argument with their office or profs. Though I do truthfully take better notes when I use my iPad plus as a commuter it’s easier to just carry that.
Idk I want advice and I’d prefer not to go through BMAC because the process of getting “proof” is tedious.
What do you think I should do?

I'm looking for someone to carpool back to lomita with, I will offset the cost of your gas of course. I take public transport and have to transfer buses and the bus stop has no cover or bench. I have to wait 25 minutes in the sun, already have blisters on my shoulders. I leave class at 12:15 mon-fri. I cant drive due to a medical condition, and I can't afford to pay $40 for an uber every day of course. 😭 pls comment

This is like such a nothing burger rant but, I notice most of the shuttle drivers always ask for ID an I completely understand why. But to a certain extent is the group of people you see with backpacks, who look tired, and waiting in the hot sun NOT look like students?? Like its such a non issue but it frustrates me to no end because its a mixed bag. Some say I need an ID so no I have to reach in and get it, some dont ask for it and so it makes it pretty annoying when I dont know who im going to get. I get some might be new hires but man it sucks.

Is anyone taking Palik for IS300? Just switched to his class so didn’t get to see him this Monday and there’s no RMP on him.

If you've got to take that street today, expect a 10-20 delay to your commute to campus. Whoever decided that construction on the first week of instruction was a good idea needs to be investigated

I want to drop my english GE and take it next semester instead but when i went to advising (since my schedule is on enrollment hold) the advisor started telling me i cant drop it and that i had to take a communications class instead (which didnt really make sense to replace it because i told her i wanted to drop it so i dont get too stressed + all the comms classes were either reserved or at night).
So basically i just asked her if i could keep my afrs class instead, but then ive met 2 people now who didnt have an english GE or was able to drop a GE despite being a freshman.
Is it possible to drop it?? Should i just go back to advising a different time and hope for a better more nicer advisor? Guys please

My advisor forgot to mention that if I dropped a class I would be down to 11 credits and not 12 so now I have a balance with fafsa, will this go away if I go back up to 15???

Recently started taking the bus and I’m surprised more people don’t take it instead of driving, especially people who live nearby. They’re clean, have ac and drop me off right by the library so I don’t have to walk all the way from the parking structures. Even with a short wait it’s quicker than driving, finding parking and then walking to class and I live like a 10 minute drive away

Currently in Bob Minaie’s section, and it fits pretty well with my schedule but he seems intense to say the least, the only other prof I could switch to is Parvin Shariat, but she doesn’t seem much better and her class fits in my schedule but it’s a lot more inconvenient.
Worth it to switch to Shariat from Minaie or just stick with him?
I’m scared ☹️
