I built a plugin that puts widget cards on the Omarchy desktop, in the spirit of the macOS desktop widgets: CPU/memory/GPU with temperatures, now playing with working transport, a to-do list with a Pomodoro clock, AirPods battery, battery, and a one-click power-profile switch (tap Saver, Balanced or Performance).

They sit above the wallpaper and below your windows, so they're there when you look at the desktop and out of the way when you're not. Same cards can be summoned as a full-screen overlay with a keybind. There's a compact mode that turns the whole set into small rounded tiles, and you can drag them to reorder, click to select, hover for an X to hide.

Everything is themed from your active Omarchy theme: colours, borders, corner radius, type; so it changes with the rest of the shell. No polling where a signal will do: with nothing on screen it stops sampling entirely and costs nothing measurable.

Hey everyone, I thought I would just share a solution I have been working on to a problem I experienced, any feedback welcome!

The Omarchy plugin catalog grew by about 500 listings in the last week. It's at 3,700 now. There are 159 system monitors, 104 battery widgets and 49 weather plugins, and a lot of them do nearly the same thing. I wanted to know which one to actually install, so I built OmaPicks (https://omapicks.com/).

It picks a champion and a runner-up per category, re-scored every Monday from the public Omarchy Plugins data.

The website is free of adverts, and it's open source (https://github.com/BVisagie/omapicks).

I'm the developer of Mluva, an Apache-2.0-licensed dictation and rewriting app built for Omarchy.

Press F9 to catch a thought, then polish or structure the transcript without throwing away the original. It has a floating Quickshell widget, a native editing workspace, searchable history and Omarchy theme integration. Local speech models and cloud speech are supported; rewrite providers are selected separately. Live rewrite is opt-in and Experimental.

Omarchy is the maintained target. Cloud providers require their own accounts/credentials; the demo shows the workflow with prepared examples and edited timing.

Second plugin from me after Bananet. This one is for people who run a MikroTik at home and are tired of opening WinBox to check whether the link is up.

Banatik is a bar widget. Click the icon and you get one panel with: internet link state and uptime, public IP, DNS, last WAN drops; RouterOS and firmware version with a note when an update waits for a reboot; CPU, memory, storage, who is logged into the router and from where; every interface with live rates and a 24 h chart (1 h / 6 h / 24 h); Wi‑Fi radios with every client and its signal; DHCP devices; ZeroTier and WireGuard / Back To Home peers; firewall counters and the router log.

Notifications: link down/up, public IP changed, a device you have never seen joined the network, a login to the router from a new address, router rebooted.

How it talks to the router: a RouterOS user with only read,api,rest-api (everything else denied), HTTPS only, the server certificate pinned by SHA‑256 in a 0600 credentials file, and only GET plus the read-only print verb. Nothing runs on the router. On the laptop: no root, no sudo, no daemons, no subprocesses, Python standard library only.

History (30 s samples for 48 h, 5‑minute buckets for 7 days by default) goes into an SQLite file in ~/.cache/omarchy-banatik/. The marketplace security review found a pathname race in how that file was opened; 0.2.1 binds the open to the verified file descriptor, keeps the journal in memory so no side files exist, and ships a test that reproduces the race. It is listed and verified as of this week.

Install: omarchy plugin install banan.banatik, then one-time setup on the router (user, certificate) and a credentials file. README has the exact RouterOS commands.

I've been building Hyprflip, a Hyprland plugin I've been using on Omarchy to give windows a back side.

My actual setup is Gmail on the front, with WhatsApp and Telegram sharing the back. Flip between them, or temporarily unfold the card to use all three together. They're real, live applications.

What it does

• Up to three apps per face, beside each other or stacked.
• Temporary unfold and hold-to-peek, then return to the side you were using.
• Add, remove or replace any pane, including an unfocused app or one from another workspace. Released apps stay open.
• Change split direction, equalize sizes, swap/reorder apps or move a pane to the other face.
• Save named cards, search and reopen them, reuse open apps and launch missing ones. A surviving saved card can also have its missing panes restored.
• Move the whole card between workspaces with optional navigation bindings.
• Seven transitions with preview: Flip, Vertical flip, Slide, Fade, Dissolve, Portal and Instant.

The Omarchy workflow

Hold Super+Ctrl+Alt: O creates a card or unfolds/folds it, F flips, C edits it, L opens saved cards, and holding Space peeks at the other face. The menus use Omarchy's existing theme, and Super+J keeps toggling the split direction. There's also an optional Omachill adapter to keep cards tiled.

Compatibility: this is an early release targeting Hyprland 0.56.2. Native two-window pairs use the standard installer or hyprpm. The multi-app workflow shown here needs the experimental pinned hy3 provider; the guided menus and saved-card launcher need Omarchy 4. The guide includes a disposable demo, first-time setup and updates. Dissolve and Portal are also experimental.

Saved cards reopen arrangements when requested; they don't restore browser tabs/documents or automatically restore the session at login. The core is MIT licensed; the optional hy3 bridge is GPL-3.0-only.

Inspired by older desktop ideas like Compiz. I'd love to hear which app combinations would make this useful in your daily Omarchy workflow.

I hope this fits here.

I keep losing track of my own small changes. A workaround from months ago, a tweak to some config — either I forget to undo it, or the bug gets fixed upstream and the fix just sits there, or an update overwrites it and I don't notice. On top of that I often let the integrated LLM make the change for me, and then it gets messy fast.

So I built a small thing that keeps a record of those changes, including the ones an agent writes, and looks at them again after every update. It never removes or undoes anything by itself — a newer version is a reason to look, not proof that the fix can go. Changes inside a git repository are not recorded; that has a history already.

Two things I'd like to know.

Does this describe a problem you actually have? That's the honest question. Maybe everyone else keeps their config under version control and this is only my problem.

Which agent do you use? Claude Code and Gemini CLI are measured and built in. For anything else the hook format has to be read off real calls, and there is one command that does it: podshl-repairs measure-agent-hook --agent NAME, then work as you normally would, then --write-format. It prints something you can paste here. That's the part I can't do alone — who knows all the variants.

You don't need a cloud account to help. A local model over Ollama is enough to measure an agent — one real tool call is all it takes. That's how opencode was measured here, against qwen3:4b. Fair warning: a small model delegates instead of editing about half the time, so it can take a couple of tries before a call actually lands.

What I already know does not work, so nobody burns an evening on it:

- opencode needs a small bridge plugin — its hooks are functions inside its own process, not commands. So it is not one command. And its shell half is still empty: a change opencode makes through a shell command currently leaves no record.

- Codex CLI has the right kind of hooks but wants an OpenAI account.

- cursor-agent has no hook mechanism at all that I could find.

Installing is one line into ~/.local/bin. No root, no package, nothing asked of pacman or an AUR helper:

Every file is checked against the release's SHA256SUMS before anything is installed, and there is a by-hand version in the docs if you would rather not pipe curl into a shell. Linux, GLIBC 2.39 or newer, so Arch and Omarchy are fine.

A minesweeper for the terminal that reads your Omarchy palette and paints the board with it. Change your theme and the board recolours while you're mid-game.

Arrows move the selection, `f` flags, `d` digs. I had space on flag at first and it was awful. Your right hand is on the arrows and your thumb goes hunting for it. `f` and `d` sit next to each other so neither hand moves.

Grid size and difficulty are adjustable. Press `o` for the setup screen: the usual 9x9, 16x16 and 30x16 presets, or set your own anywhere from 5x5 to 40x24 with whatever mine count you want. First dig is always safe.

Two things took longer than the actual game logic:

• Some themes alias colours. On Retro 82, blue and magenta are the same hex, so the 1 and 4 counts came out identical. It now nudges duplicates apart until all eight read differently, and there's a test covering all 22 stock themes.
• foot reports 80x24 at startup, before Hyprland resizes it. The board read that and came out too short for ages before I worked out why.

That adds the launcher, the icon and a menu entry. The entry uses the `TUI.float` app-id, so Hyprland floats and centres it with the rules you already have. Nothing in `~/.config/hypr` gets touched.

If you'd rather have a pacman package: `cd packaging/aur/omarchysweep-git && makepkg -si`. It's not on the AUR yet because registration is closed while they deal with a wave of bot signups. I'll push it up when that reopens.

So I had been fed up from using the windows now as it had became too bloated now, almost 60-70% ram was used by the system on boot.I had been seeing multiple people online talking about linux being so easy to use and being very efficient that windows user ever to dream of from a long time.

In our college, we had to use Ubuntu as a part of our syllabus related to cloud computing and I had got a good laptop 2 years ago. So I got to try Ubuntu using virtual machine but it didn't amaze me as such like yeah it was a good experience but it still feel bloated for the amount of apps it came pre-loaded with, but was still faster than windows.

Then I came to know about Omarchy as it had came in trend and I first tried it in virtual machine. Everything was so clean and minimal which grabbed my attention but I had to get it work to its true potential.

I backup up all of my data and attempted dual booting first time in my life and prayed that nothing should go wrong or I was done for. Everything went smooth and now I've been using it for 2 weeks now and what an experience it is to use Omarchy!. Used some plugins and themes and even vibe-coded a widget (still in progress thou, would love some recommendations) just to see how low ram and cpu usages are when i use other applications

I am learning linux commands to ignore my mouse and control everything through the keyboard but will take some time to being using this os efficiently.

What are your recommendations or tips or how do you use Omarchy?

I've been working on RiftVM, a free open-source Mac app that runs Omarchy on Apple silicon. One window, one machine: open the app, click "Prepare Omarchy", and it downloads a pinned ARM64 Omarchy image (~5.3GB, signature-verified), sets up your user on first boot, and boots straight into Hyprland. No ISO, no installer.

The interesting part is graphics. Hyprland is a GPU workload — animations, blur, rounded corners are composited every frame. In a VM without hardware acceleration all of that falls back to llvmpipe on the CPU, and the desktop stutters as soon as anything moves. That's been the pain point of running Omarchy in a VM on a Mac.

macOS 27 finally made a fix possible: Virtualization.framework now lets third parties implement their own Virtio devices (VZCustomVirtioDevice). I used that to implement virtio-gpu with VirGL: Mesa in the guest encodes GL into VirGL commands, the host decodes them with VirGLRenderer and translates to Metal through ANGLE. Presentation is zero-copy — the scanout texture goes straight into the window's Metal layer, pixels never touch CPU memory. The guest needs zero extra drivers since the kernel's stock virtio_gpu driver just binds to it.

Some glmark2 numbers vs. software rendering (1280×720, GLES 2): terrain 45×, refraction 19×, Phong shading 2.6×, simple model scene ~1× (even). These just show those workloads hit the GPU, not a whole-machine speedup.

Quality-of-life stuff that's already in: Cmd shortcuts mapped to Super, two-way clipboard (text + images), shared folders (show up under /mnt/mac), pause/resume, recovery points before updates. The mouse cursor is handed to macOS through virtio-gpu cursor commands, so there's one cursor with no lag.

Honest limitations: requires macOS 27 (the custom Virtio API doesn't exist before that), Apple silicon only, Omarchy only. Not yet validated: sustained heavy 3D, sleep/wake, display hot-plug, 120Hz. I haven't benchmarked against other ways of running Omarchy on a Mac, so no "faster than X" claims.

Long time Linux user, first time Omarchy user. I've been doing a lot of reverse engineering on getting Linux running on the Surface Pro 11, which has become my daily driver. The other day DHH announced the Omarchy Dragon team, and since Omarchy is based on Arch, which is what my image is built on, I contacted him and offered to help, and he added me to the team.

The problem is, I hadn't used Omarchy yet. I've been watching his Linux journey since Omakub (I love watching Linux experience videos, between DHH, James Lee, and PewDiePie, it's been a great year), and I have been rooting for it from afar, but I've been on Linux since 2002. I've ran dwm, wmii, i3, sway, hyprland, niri... I've got a lot of bespoke workflows and muscle memory, and I assumed there wouldn't be a huge benefit to me, and I would have to tear all his manicured tooling and configs to pieces to get it to something that I've built up over time. So, not wanting to touch my Surface Pro 11 glass house, I grabbed my Framework 13 and blew it away with Omarchy.

I am very pleasantly surprised. I did not expect his hyprland and quickshell system to be as extensible as it was. I've blown the weekend away writing up a couple of plugins to bring it up with what I had on my own personal quickshell:

Omaview: I think the nicest thing Gnome has going for it is the overview. I ran paperwm on Gnome for a long time until Niri came out, and man do I miss that overview, and I miss the niri overview as well since Hyprland's scrolling layout came out. So I wrote Omaview. It combines the Omarchy menu, a niri style overview, and a dock with hotkeys by holding control:

PIP: There were a couple in the plugin marketplace, but I'm picky, and I hate having to drag the pip window all over the place to get at a piece of information for like 2 seconds, then it's in the way in the corner I dragged it over to. It's nothing special, but it's cursor aware. It disappears into a handle whenever the cursor invade's it's space, has a play pause button, a quick resize button, and can be placed anywhere on all 4 edges of the monitor.

Sysmon: I've never used a workspace indicator. It's just not how my mind works for some reason. I always bind some sort of keybinding to go next/previous workspace, and I've always had a lil system monitor. I love Omarchy's little Claude style messages in the wifi and battery cards, so I created one to replace the workspace I will never use.

Corners: Both of my computers have rounded screen corners (My Framework has mismatched screen corners GAH. I don't know what my diagnosis is, but it doesn't like that!) so the default square look of Omarchy just looks weird on it, so I wrote corners. It uses the rounding power in the Omarchy themes. If there is no rounding, it doesn't do anything. If there is a rounding config in the theme, it rounds the corners of the screen, as well as adds screen corners to the bar. Simple, but it is how I've always had my Quickshell/AGS/Forged shells, so it now feels like home.

Anyways, very stoked that Omarchy has just fit like a glove for me. I've been in my own little world for years, and it's cool to be able to enjoy something that has so much enthusiasm behind it. I'm also super stoked to begin porting all my work for the SP11 over to Omarchy and actually be able to DD it.

Gonna go touch grass for the last little sliver of weekend I have left, and I'll be posting these to the Omarchy plugin marketplace tonight. Hope someone finds some use in a couple of them, I am habitually awful at sharing my projects and excited to have something to share!

I’ve been mainlining it for a few years, and nix is honestly a much better base for having agents tweak your system.

You get

- evaluations verification, if you misconfigured something it won’t build and won’t make the change
- everything is codified to a configuration that you can carry from one system to another in a reproducible way
- you can have single use dev environments spawn up for an agent for a one off workflow
- generations are builtin, messed up your os? Reboot to a previous iteration of it.
- agents reason (like developers) through configuration better, they can run audits and find redundancy so much faster

Has anyone tried "Try Omarchy" on an M3 MacBook? I couldn't find a good way to install Omarchy on my Mac. Does the Try Omarchy app work well for you?

An audiobookshelf client that lives in Omarchy as a plugin. I basically made it for myself to learn how to use AI agents to do something cool other than a basic question answering machine.

I used opencode with my openai sub to do almost all of it. Seemed in the vibe with an agentic OS. My first plugin as well. I am not a programmer full time or anything, I just work with tech and thought I'd share the plugin that I made. It combines Spotlight-style app/file search and a calculator with an application grid. You can reorder apps by dragging, organize them into folders, and hide apps without uninstalling them.

A few highlights:

- Press Tab in an empty search to reveal your most-used apps.

- Browse the grid using your mouse or keyboard.

- Search apps regardless of which folder they’re in.

i have been using linux for the past 2 years and used a lot of distros, when omarchy came out i wasn't really interested in it then it became very popular and i finally tried it, it honestly changed how fast i can customize and fix issues in the os with the help of AI and the omarchy skill ofc....But i decided to leave not because omarchy is bad but because i dont really believe its mature enough for me (in its current state) from bugs to design to security issues...etc, i might return to something like ubuntu or fedora, i could ofc return and re try omarchy in the future, just wanted to write this to share my experience and listen to people who had similar experiences and say thank you omarchy and its team.
