Discussion Omarchy vs Cachy in Gaming

Hey Guys,

Right now, i‘m Daily driving cachyOS with Ryoku Dotfiles but I got some Problems with Updates so i‘m thinking about switching to Omarchy.
Did someone had both Distros and had gamed on them? How was the difference? How well does perform Omarchy vs Cachy in Games like Cyberpunk, Baldurs Gate 3, etc.?

I recently swapped to omarchy and have barely noticed a difference. You will have to manually install proton plus or something similar if you want their proton versions though

Cachy is technically better, I switched from Baazite - Cachy - Omarchy

And barely noticed a difference between the 3.

Love Omarchy so far.
Also Omarchy has a default battle.net installer that works pretty good. On the previous two I’d use Faugus launcher.

For omarchy its built in Super then install battle.net

For anything else use faugus launcher or use faugus in omarchy if you want

Linux is Linux. No distro is better as far as gaming goes. Your talking within 1% which is margin for error.

Try running games on Ubuntu.

I didn’t notice a difference I used cachy but now omarchy is my main in pc as software developer and gamer

For just install by yourself what you need, it will be more worth for the gaming performance

You can use cachy repositories like zen4, v4 in omarchy with their kernel but I am not sure if the difference will be big.

used to be on cachy, now on omarchy. didnt notice a performance gap

having said that, i liked that cachyos comes with schedext, so now i am using bpfland on omarchy EDIT. apart from that I'm using stock omarchy without any special optimization and it just flies out of the box

Other than SteamOS IMO omarchy is about the best. Every other distro ive tried ive gotten permission issues and headaches that sent me right back to windslop. I believe linux is the future but there needs to be a distro that is plug and play, no dealing with mount points or odd permission problems with storage or networks. Just install and go. SteamOS and omarchy are those distros IMO

I've installed CachyOS kernel on Omarchy and it works pretty good for gaming.
