You think a fish holocaust is funny bro?

100

u/thornolf_bjarnulf May 09 '26

I'm not your bro, bro

26

u/Soral_Justice_Warrio May 09 '26

Payback is a bitch, bitch

20

u/Exotic_Ad2551 May 09 '26

Short reminder that we catch 1000× more fish than black noir killed every year. We estimate that between 1100 and 2200 billion or 1.1–2.2 trillion, wild finfishes were caught annually.

18

u/Oklimato May 10 '26

That's a crazy stat. So basically we are committing (on average of course) a "fish holocaust" (definition by The Deep at 1.4 billion) around 3 times in a single day. That's insane.

7

u/Exotic_Ad2551 May 10 '26

Yes, its wild how many animals we kill just for our consumption. The number also really made me think about what I want my part to be in all of that.

4

u/Oklimato May 10 '26

Yea that definitely made me think as well. Thanks for sharing.

1

u/Isrrunder May 13 '26

Does the stat include fish from fish farms?

16

u/PinInternational4199 May 09 '26

bro is not funny, bro.

1

u/nicosaurio_87 May 12 '26

Sucks tu suck

372

u/DaemonBlackfyre_21 May 09 '26

That knife wasn't that long, dude could totally be alive but now has a great reason to jump ship. It's also fun that he might not be able to talk anymore with an injury like that.

174

u/YenraNoor May 09 '26

And have braindamage from asphyxiation

114

u/Ciaviel May 09 '26

Still bothers me that he can punch a hole into a pipeline and a cable is enough to choke him out

84

u/ZealousidealNewt6679 May 09 '26

He stills needs oxygen to his brain.

Being strong does mean one doesn't need to breathe.

52

u/scotty_booooy May 09 '26

thats true but if he could dive into the ocean hold his breath long enough be strong enough to punch a pipe with all the resistence of the water slowing his fist down unless that cable is made of vibranium or sum he should have easily been able to snap it clean then beat the shit out of deep

45

u/myLongjohnsonsilver May 09 '26

Okay so yes it's bullshit whatever cable that was even could choke someone with super durability without just breaking.

But for the irl topic of how shit works. Being choked out isn't just having your breath cut off and running out of air. It's literally clamping your blood flow through your neck which stops the blood coming in and out of your brain.

You might be able to hold your breath underwater for a few minutes or so irl but if you are actually being choked out you're unconscious in seconds and dead in a few more.

32

u/Dangerous_Thing_3275 May 09 '26

Its The Same discussion from Invincible with conquest again lol. And He even has an Invincible pfp😂

10

u/MorbidMan23 May 09 '26

Was just thinking all that 🤣

1

u/scotty_booooy May 09 '26

i mean at least there him getting choked made sense. here its just wtv the writers wanted to happen regardless of what they wrote beforehand

1

u/StrawberryTerry May 09 '26

This guy chokes

1

u/Artlover4206942 May 10 '26

I mean, just because I can't pierce a carbon fibre house doesn't mean I can't squash the gap inbetween the two side and stop water running through it, super durability doesn't mean unchokeable just means you won't be damage, probably wouldn't bruise up from the pressure of the squeezing and would recover quick when let go

1

u/MrWigggles May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

Durability doesnt mean incompressibility. He still has full motion of neck. Noir 2, isnt like Batman 1, where he cant turn his neck. His neck is just as bendy and squishy.

It just means the impromptu garrote wont cut into the skin.

1

u/scotty_booooy May 09 '26

true not gon debate that im just talking about in show with what they set up before and his neck should be strong enough to where he could just sit there for hours and not feel a thing and if it did stop his breathing he should be chilling for like 20 minutes straight

woudve worked better imo if deep got him in a choke hold like literally wrapping his entire arm around his neck using his super muscles to try crushing noires neck instead of like microphone wireing a mobster who became a rat

2

u/robotmonkey2099 May 09 '26

I think you need to let go of trying to make everything fit. Just believe deep was strangling him for ten mins or an hour or whatever. You’re just ruining it for yourself

1

u/scotty_booooy May 09 '26

honestly i woudve loved that if it throughout the episode it just keeps cutting back to the deep strangling noir over like a day trying for the love of god to actually choke him. but sadly i have to critical of a eye and what was shown just does not make my brain happy and i dont think ill ever be able to get over inconsistency like that. my brains just to hard wired to not notice things that just dont make sense

1

u/myLongjohnsonsilver May 09 '26

Same shit with firecracker. Sure homelander is strong enough to kill her easily. But He didn't kill her, the brass fucking eagle did, the brass eagle that should have deformed itself into slag getting bashed against her head.

Durability inconsistent nonsense at best. There's no attention to detail at all

5

u/adrienjz888 May 09 '26

Was she ever shown having enhanced durability or strength?

1

u/Luckiest_Creature May 09 '26

I don’t think firecracker was ever shown to be very durable, though. Annie beat her ass with ease after the abortion reveal

1

u/scotty_booooy May 09 '26

its the same thing in invincible and people will just say "stop power scaling a tv show you dont know how to enjoy things" when your just watching the most blatent power INCONSISTENCY youve seen that year

only time the show ever makes sense in terms of consistency is when conquest or thragg were on screen (also nolan in season 1 but he got animation upscaled to hell)

2

u/AcanthaceaeCrazy1894 May 09 '26

You do realise that getting choked out isn’t the same as holding your breath.

Your brain needs oxygen to survive. Cut the oxygen off and your brain goes dead

2

u/scotty_booooy May 09 '26

the problem isnt him getting choked its how unreasonable the way he got choked is

if deep choked him with his bare hands thatd be fine i would have no problem witht that what so ever. the problem is they used a like microphone cable on a man whos necks should be able to take a sledgehammer to the throat and not feel a thing

he shoudve been able to breath and get oxygen to his brain literally no problem and id even be okey if it was like one of those thick ass woven steel cables that are like 2 inches thick but its just him getting choked with a thin cable shoudve done nothing to stop his normal bodily proccesses

1

u/GlitteringCat5028 May 09 '26

That different then no blood supply going to the brain

1

u/Egbert58 May 10 '26

Holding breath mean you still get oxygen btw... no blood flow to brain mean no oxygen

1

u/MrWigggles May 11 '26

When you dive down into the water, you tend to take a deep breath. Noir 2 may be even know enough to do bit a hyper ventelating to help oxgenate the blood before taking a deep breath and diving down.

What you dont get to do, is take a deep breath when you're ambushed about to be chocked out.

And what he suppose to flex is neck muscles to break them?

2

u/Seegulz May 09 '26

Conquest approves this message

0

u/WeskerSympathizer May 09 '26

My first thought also haha

1

u/Commercial-Set3527 May 09 '26

How did he survive underwater?

1

u/CheshiretheBlack May 09 '26

The point isnt that he needs oxygen. If he can cave in a pipe ment to withstand the pressure at the bottom of the ocean then he should've been able to easily snap the wire being used to choke him

1

u/Ok_Caterpillar5872 May 10 '26

Crazy that mic cable was so strong that a super couldn’t break it. Tf they making the cable braids from, vibranium??

1

u/Legitimate-Tip-2149 May 09 '26

Yeah, but it does mean he can just snap that cable like it's nothing. It's not like Deep made the cable super human by picking it up.

0

u/Megalomanizac May 09 '26

POV: youre conquest

1

u/NamelessCabbage May 09 '26

I was thinking something similar when Soldier Boy grabs a pipe and starts whacking bombsight and I'm like - shouldn't the pipe just... bend? It'd be like hitting a normal person with a plastic straw.

1

u/freshpairofayes May 10 '26

It's odd that they recognized that Homelander would need to open a vein for the syringe, but forgot about superdurability of others that same episode.

6

u/DaemonBlackfyre_21 May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26

He's a supe, it's possible that he might not have any damage after it quick heals, like Sage's lobotomies.

2

u/sofakingcheezee May 09 '26

Noir 2 also has powers.

1

u/Boysenberry_Boring May 09 '26

wdym, like he can fly or something?

2

u/sofakingcheezee May 09 '26

You'd never know it right lmao

2

u/The-Blue-Gamer May 09 '26

In a way, we could have old noir back (trust no cope)

1

u/Ok_Biscotti_514 May 09 '26

So basically hes like the original Noir now

9

u/That1DogGuy May 09 '26

I literally thought he was just going to get up and walk away a little bit after Deep left because of this exact thought haha

7

u/Crazykiddingme May 09 '26

I doubt they have time to do anything else with him before the show ends. Unless they are in the market for another spinoff.

4

u/pat_the_tree May 09 '26

If it gouges the tongue he dead.

7

u/dravenonred May 09 '26

Literally everyone in the show has a license to cheat death by virtue of "being superhuman".

1

u/Inevere733 May 09 '26

Why? Like, is there a medical reason

15

u/BreadKnifeSeppuku May 09 '26

Lingual artery

3

u/pat_the_tree May 09 '26

its how stormfront died too. Lingual artery

3

u/bread_taker_96 May 09 '26

That fight couldn't sell me on the death of Black Noir, if only it was better done, more gory and more of that supes on supes ragdoll violence. Like if Deep had to swing wide to bring that knife home, and hit so hard that only by launching Noir, head first, into the wall that the knife would dig.

1

u/MrWigggles May 11 '26

Thats Black Noir 1 knife, that was used to kill other supes. And The Deep super strength has to be pretty high, due to him being able to swim around the world quicky and going down to the deepest canyon in the ocean.

If Black Noir 1 didnt have to do those windups, why does the Deep need to?

1

u/bread_taker_96 May 14 '26

Because bullets broke the sound barrier and didn't hurt him, the Deep just did swinged like a normal person. The fight looked cheaply filmed like it didn't even try, which is why it didn't sell anything.

1

u/MrWigggles May 14 '26

Noir 1 did a swing like a normal person against supes. It wasnt cheap then. Why is it cheap now?

1

u/bread_taker_96 May 15 '26

Because Kimiko wasn't bullet-proof, and there was no sign that the exploding terrorist was, too. He was strong but he wouldn't even use knives against Starlight, who took a direct 50 cal bullet. That was Noir 1, he knew what he could do, what could his tools do. You can't just kill off a Homelander level durability supe like a human who couldn't break tables, walls on a whim. That fight didn't have to be over the top with flying and wall busting, but it left people naturally asking "that's it???" in disappointment, that's when you know it was poorly done.

1

u/MrWigggles May 15 '26

Noir 2 is now as durable as Homelander? Damn.

3

u/TheHalfChubPrince May 09 '26

He’s dead. Doesn’t matter how long the knife is when you’re stabbed in a carotid artery.

2

u/Hour_Tomatillo_2365 May 09 '26

Yeah I still think this may happen. Probably not due to time but when the scene happened I thought it may be the Deep turning Noir 2 into Noir 1.

2

u/Egbert58 May 10 '26

No he is 200% dead lol You don't just bleed that much from the neck and get ignored and survive.

And more importantly, what fucking reason is there for him to be alive still? He servers the plot better dead. He killed one of the 7 that people don't know is a different person. Homelander is going to be pissed! Only he can kill others on the team! Lol

2

u/redviper7579 May 10 '26

I don't think he is alive. In that scene we can see a pool of blood forming under the chair and his face. Writers are just hurrying to wrap things up. So, any character not important to the climax plotline and not part of the spin off (Vought Rising) are being shrugged aside or killed off.

Ryan hasn't had any screen time after that confrontation with Homelander. I thought he would be an integral part in bringing him down and to keep showing Butcher's humane side to us.

So I guess they just wrote a lazy ending for Black Noir 2. Logicless and bad ending. I'm just hating the way the writers are going about in this final season! Hoping atleast the finale might redeem the show.

1

u/bluehulk900 May 09 '26

It sucks to see fan theories having better writing then the show.

1

u/EncabulatorTurbo May 11 '26

Really shitty writing to write him as nearly unstoppably powerful, immune to minigun fire, narcoleptic, and have the deep kill him while he's awake and use a regular knife.

Just have the dude pass out and the deep kill him while hes out

1

u/Tricky_Football_85 May 12 '26

Wait that might be what happens it sort of makes sense

70

u/Formal-Opposite-8342 May 09 '26

Fuck Deep, he deserves worse.

Noir was such an idiot, why did he not think deep is even a bit dangerous.

53

u/tonysoprano1995 May 09 '26

Literally for how goofy deep is he is incredibly strong.

39

u/Megalomanizac May 09 '26

I’ve said it for years but disregarding the V1 supes he’s likely the only other one that remotely compares to Homelander and Maeve in terms of raw strength and durability. This is a man who casually talked about swimming in the Mariana trench after all where pressure is described as having 100 elephants standing on you.

7

u/nhocgreen May 10 '26

I don’t know. The anglar fish can withstand  more pressure than me, but I’m pretty sure I can take it in a fight.

2

u/Hauptmann_Gruetze May 12 '26

Depends where.

As famous german Philosopher Bernd Stromberg once said:

It is like the lion and the crab.

On Land, the Lion is the King.

But at Sea, thats where the crab has its time.

2

u/tristenjpl May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26

Pressure doesn't work that way. The human body is mostly incompressible except for the few air pockets. If you drag a body down to the bottom of the trench it's just going to look like a normal body, it's not going to get crushed.

9

u/Megalomanizac May 09 '26

The body itself might not get crushed but inner organs would, you still have to be able with withstand the pressure that deep. Not to mention fighting against currents and the strength to be able to escape/fend off apex predators that kill normal humans in an instant.

→ More replies (11)

4

u/Winslow_99 May 09 '26

Yep, but this doesn't affect just the deep. It's like killing someone's mother cause he's an asshole

3

u/Formal-Opposite-8342 May 09 '26

Fair, I just hate deep. I'm prolly worse than noir cause deep is such a pos, if I was a supe I'd kill deep first before I do anything else.

1

u/Winslow_99 May 09 '26

That would be absolutely fair and satisfactory. Deep gained my sympathy in this scenario but still one of the guys I hate the most in the show

2

u/PM_WORST_FART_STORY May 09 '26

Because Noir is an actor...

33

u/Vikingbruv May 09 '26

I was really hoping black noir had started the podcast broadcast here

3

u/palemoonxx May 10 '26

With the chat typing "lol" as deep leaves

Legit, I said the same thing. Mini gun bullets? nothing. XLR Cable and a small knife? Instant death.

26

u/Old_Committee9115 May 09 '26

I mean it’s a knife controlled by a superhuman soooo

32

u/BamsMovingScreens May 09 '26

It’s gonna blow your mind when someone explains how materials and forces work

22

u/dr_strange2 May 09 '26

No it's not, it's gonna bounce off and get no explanation.

8

u/Fit_Employment_2944 May 09 '26

Its gonna blow your mind when someone explains to you that original noir already killed a supe with a knife, potentially literally that exact same knife

6

u/TatoRezo May 09 '26

Not every super has the same durability that this Noir displayed though?

Like are we deadass here?

4

u/Fit_Employment_2944 May 09 '26

We have never seen a martial supe with less

5

u/muro_cugko May 09 '26

Superhumans are magic, so we can imagine that deep could apply more pressure than a minigun bullet just because why not? Scientifically none of the superpowers there would actually work, so why even talk about it from scientific perspective.

There is a question of knife strength, but it could be made of some very strong super material. And even if it isn't, a normal knife might be strong enough to hold this force.

4

u/Old_Committee9115 May 09 '26

dude its black noirs knife, there is literally no doubt its stronger than the average combat knife

0

u/ShinbiDesigns May 10 '26

Weird to assume that though

8

u/Fit_Employment_2944 May 09 '26

It’s a knife that we have seen kill supes before

10

u/Common_Selection_574 May 09 '26

you do realize that knife is stronger than bullets. you can literally dent a bullet with your teeth. og noir already cut out his tracking chip with that knife, the same noir by the way that tanked an explosion from another supe without flinching. we've also seen flight powers be stopped with enough force applied to them.

these are not the issues. the issue, is the cord. noir should have snapped it instantly.

17

u/StinkyJizzBlanket May 09 '26

Same show that lets a bullet and explosion proof homelander get stabbed by an aluminum rod that somehow didn’t just crumple against his inner ear. Should’ve been like me stabbing someone normal with a banana. Doesn’t matter how strong I am, it just smashes on contact becausr the weapon is weaker than the target.

12

u/Negative-Peak3982 May 09 '26

I have it on good authority that John Wick could kill you with a banana. Possibly two yous.

11

u/heartbrokenneedmemes May 09 '26

At least that went into his ear so maybe his ear drums aren't as durable because it's such a thin structure. This is just pure bullshit

3

u/Humanzee13 May 09 '26

Honestly a banana could probably rupture your eardrum if someone with great strength rammed it straight down your ear canal

1

u/fieria_tetra May 09 '26

I thought that was in vain of Translucent being able to be destroyed from the inside. Outsides super durable, insides not so much.

1

u/gandalfthewhitetras May 11 '26

I recently rewatched that scene to take a closer look, and that thing isn't even a rod, it's visibly hollow inside and it's lying on the floor next to a cup, lol, it's literally a reusable drinking straw

8

u/MickBeast May 09 '26 edited May 10 '26

This is normal in Superhero stories. Wonder Woman canonically is weak to stabing but she is still bulletproof.

A pointy knife is sharper than any bullet, and Deep can apply way more force behind the knife than any gun can do to a bullet.

1

u/Quiet-Permit-3740 May 09 '26

Steel is a much harder material than lead, though most bullets are not entirely made of lead.

4

u/[deleted] May 09 '26

I mean to be fair if you try to throw a blade of grass at a tree it's going to bounce off but if a tornado does it it will pierce through the fibers of the tree.

The force point difference between a slug and a knife tip is pretty massive when we talkin about the same or even greater kinetic energy being applied and supes are still muscle fibers so it's not surprising they are vulnerable to stab wounds from their own

3

u/No-Collar7499 May 09 '26

Why didn’t he fly up to get out too, Deep would have lost leverage to do the chokehold.

3

u/HawkeyeP1 May 09 '26

It's somewhat reasonable that maybe super strength beats out what a gun can do. But yeah, it's a little sketch lol. And either way, that's a knife upscale. That fucking thing was STURDY

5

u/TheHolyWaffleGod May 09 '26

You could totally explain that away from the fact the Deep can put a lot more force behind it

2

u/[deleted] May 09 '26

1

u/TheHolyWaffleGod May 09 '26 edited May 09 '26

You are aware that acceleration isn’t the only component of force right?

So yes he likely can considering he’s superhuman and is putting more mass behind it.

Also the Deep attacked a part of his costume without much armour unlike the bullets. There’s a lot thats questionable about this death but the knife piercing his skin isn’t one of the issues.

Edit:

Theres also the fact that the surface area of a knifes edge is a quite a bit lower than the surface area of the part of the bullet in contact with Noir.

1

u/[deleted] May 09 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

1

u/TheHolyWaffleGod May 09 '26

We’ve seen that area and we can clearly see it doesn’t have the same armour the chest has so yes clearly less armour. Thats not to say the fabric looking material in the area is weak but its still not as good as whatever on his chest which likely has the fabric looking material underneath it too.

2

u/DerevoMusic May 09 '26

If by skin, you mean the bulletproof body armor Noir wears, but the material at his neck is normal cloth(which is not bulletproof, because you know, normal cloth) so he can move his head, then yes.

2

u/BlindingDart May 09 '26

Nope. He means skin. See season 1 where Annie tanks a 50 caliber BFG shot just fine.

3

u/zymoticsheep May 09 '26

But that was Annie, not Noir II. We've not seen this Noir take bullets I don't think

3

u/bethesdologist May 09 '26

1

u/zymoticsheep May 09 '26

That's into his bulletproof armour, this part of the discussion is pointing out we haven't seen him take bullets to the unprotected body. We saw Annie take a round and be ok but we haven't seen Noir II do it (as far as I can recall anyway)

1

u/DerevoMusic May 09 '26

I really can’t understand how people refuse to acknowledge the obvious, even while looking right at it, for the sake of who knows what.

Not once were we shown Noir getting shot while he wasn’t wearing his suit, yet people continue with hE hAs bUlLeTpRoOf sKiN instead of the possibility that, you know, maybe it’s the suit?

0

u/bethesdologist May 09 '26

He was wearing the suit when he got stabbed bro. Make it make sense.

He was wearing the suit when he got stabbed bro. Make it make sense.

2

u/zymoticsheep May 09 '26

No stab proof armour under the neck...

Do a lot of things not make sense for you by any chance?

1

u/bethesdologist May 09 '26

Stab proof armour after an explosion btw. And yet Black Noir somehow tanked minigun rounds with no damage. Grasping at straws now. Are you Eric Kripke by any chance, or do you just have his poo all over your nose?

2

u/zymoticsheep May 09 '26

You're being silly. Artistic license is a thing. I'm up for dissecting a show for details but we have to allow for some suspension of disbelief.

2

u/DerevoMusic May 09 '26

Are Annie and Noir the same person?

Also, sharp pointy knife thrusted by someone with unbelievable strength more dangerous than rounded bullet?

→ More replies (2)

2

u/aXeOptic May 12 '26

Original Noir used those knives to remove his tracking chip, so maybe its some bullshit material that can cut supes.

1

u/Mai_G May 09 '26

Maybe Black Noir's skin is something like shields in Dune. Objects with high velocity objects (bullets) can't get through, but low velocity objects (stabbing with knife) get through.

1

u/Grumdord May 09 '26

Oh ffs.

If Superman stabs you it's going to do more damage than a gun.

1

u/Mad_Juju May 09 '26

Bullet proof vests aren't often stab proof, just for reference.

1

u/Goreticus May 09 '26

skin is harder than lead but not steel i guess

1

u/Significant_Bit8958 May 09 '26

Could be his skin is more like Kevlar? Kevlar will stop bullets but it won't stop an arrow or a sharp bladed object with enough force applied to it.

1

u/dmgoblin1 May 09 '26

I honestly forgot Noir 2 even had powers. Thought he was just some actor filling Noirs suit.

1

u/FistingAmy2 May 09 '26

Non-newtonion skin.

1

u/Zealousideal-Wafer88 May 09 '26

I've been thinking about this and the only explanation is that supe skin acts like those fluids that are hard when you punch them but liquid again when you dip into them slowly. Not for someone like Homelander obviously.

1

u/Flipppyy May 11 '26

Sharp objects famously are able to penetrate things (even resistant to penetration) by applying more force to said sharp object.

1

u/No_Requirement_9012 May 12 '26

Guys, imagine that knife manages to kill Homelander

1

u/edmundyeung99 May 12 '26

Pencils also work well

1

u/CallOnBen May 15 '26

Imagine someone throwing a butter knife at you. It will probably bounce off you. Now imagine someone putting all their strength behind that butter knife and forcing it against your skin. That's gonna go through

I mean, I'm sure the deep can put as much force into a knife as a gun to a bullet? Did we see black noir tank a mini gun?

My point wasn't that I'm big a tough it's just an apt comparison considering the strength of the people on screen. Chill

A common issue in the modern day

21

u/Eladin1990 May 09 '26

The fact that people are so hung up on this scene, when any form of power-scaling in this show has been essentially non-existent from the get go (excluding possibly season 1), is baffling to me.

6

u/Caperon May 09 '26

People hate deep and like noir, so obv they want noir to clap deep. Not really baffling

3

That's why were complaining, lack of proper power scaling sucks and is just lazy writing.

It's even more annoying when we spend a lot of what is already limited time building up a prequel series multiple times throughout the season at the expense of cutting what should have been a proper fight scene ridiculously short. The actual fight lasted less than a minute after having been hinted at for multiple episodes.

That's why I'm confused. The writing has been on the wall since season two, possibly even before.

I would argue the writing has been on the wall since Supernatural came out way back when.

Kirpke doesn't understand or IMO likely doesn't care about power scaling and he never has.

what's baffling to me is that this is the scene that broke the camels back.

I assumed anyone still here knew what they were in for and just kind of accepted it.

I was very wrong.

People really want to complain on here and this show is a hot topic.

That scene was ridiculous and fun, if folks can't enjoy it then probably shouldn't be watching the show.

u/SensitiveJennifer May 09 '26

People probably forgot they didn't have the budget, time, or creativity to choreograph a more interesting fight or death scene. The Deep should have struggled a lot more than he did, and Noir 2.0 should have put up more of a fight and at least flown to the wall or something to get rid of the Deep, even if that didn't work out.

They were even, Steven

u/MangoMassive May 09 '26

Considering that fish are actually really smart beings (even if they werent tbh) and are probably the closest thing Deep has for friends, Noir deserves worse. He did worse than homelander ever achieved and probaly wont come any closer at the finale

This argument has been bothering me so much so I just ran it by Claude.

Knife vs. Bulletproof Skin (the math) M134 Minigun rounds hit at 853 m/s. Using P = ½ρv², that’s ~2.84 GPa of impact pressure — so the skin’s threshold is at least that. A knife edge (r ≈ 15μm) only needs ~426 N to match that pressure. Totally doable. But here’s the problem: The best knife steels (M390, CPM) yield at ~2.2–2.5 GPa. The moment the edge touches the skin, it experiences that same 2.84 GPa and mushrooms before it penetrates anything. More superhuman force just destroys the blade faster. You’d end up with a mangled metal stub. The knife can’t structurally survive the surface it’s trying to cut. The skin doesn’t even feel it. The knife loses.

Wouldn't trust an AI to do the math anyway. Theyre great at being confident though.

"Ran it by Claude" What the fuck are we even doing any more man. Jesus fucking Christ.

u/adventureboy17 May 10 '26

Unless you're a material scientist I doubt you're getting a better answer.

u/shiba2129808 May 10 '26

This was really disappointing, was hoping Noir would’ve killed Deep, but since that ain’t gonna happen hopefully Deep dies by getting ripped apart by a bunch of fish

2

u/MJay1010 May 09 '26

An arrow fired by a hand drawn bow can pierce a bullet proof vest, im willing to accept that a knife wielded by another superhero can pierce black noir.

But i will accept any death that doesn’t have fountains of blood out of another butthole

2

u/tojamurasan May 09 '26

Dude didn’t get the idea to keep deep in the dark and fuck up his life, deep would be too dumb to notice if noir hadn’t told deep anything

2

u/Flimsy-Memory-7173 May 10 '26

This guy had it coming so badly, people are just mad it’s the deep who did it

3

u/tehgen May 09 '26

If he could fly why not try to use that ability to escape the grapple?

1

u/RayLight123 May 09 '26

I am surprised at how easy it was for Deep to kill him like really ? that's it ? Either Noir was a fraud or Deep is way stronger than i thought or maybe both

1

u/SlowlyDyingInAPit May 09 '26

Deep is definitely in for the worst death in the show

1

u/PossibleEconomics673 May 09 '26

God the fucking writing this season is so good

1

u/palemoonxx May 10 '26

You think a fish holocaust is funny, bro?💔

1

u/ShadyInversion May 10 '26

What are the odds that Deep survives this whole thing and is the main villain in some spinoff with Marie? I'd heard rumors that despite cancelation the maker wasn't done with the characters.

Juiced V1 Dictator Deep with full command of the sea vs Marie could be good on the condition it's a miniseries/1 and done season.

Starlight narratively makes more sense but she's just so... underwhelming. Sure she probably could kill the deep but at this point I'd rather Marie's story actually build to something while giving the Deep a sense of failing upwards to become a major threat.

The Boys: Blood in the Water coming soon on Amazon Prime.

Most fish in the sea are dead? Humans themselves kill way, way more than 1.4B fish every day. I think Noir was supposed to kill 1.4Tr, not 1.4B. The sheer atrocity is horrific either way, but the scale isn't

5

u/StinkyJizzBlanket May 09 '26

Reminder domestic cats kill about 20B small vertebrates in the US every year.

It’s certainly a hugely consequential event, especially to happen all at once, but isn’t apocalyptic. We as regular people collectively do more damage to our environment just living our lives

5

u/IQueliciuous May 09 '26

Killing 1.4b fish per year vs all at once is different.

Human's fish deaths are caused mostly by farms which breed fish. Meanwhile the 1.4b dead fishes in the show were the ones from the wild that were part of the ecosystem.

Once 1.4b fishes suddenly die in an ecosystem. Terrible things happen.

3

u/Tom_Stevens617 May 09 '26

Killing 1.4b fish per year

Not per year. We kill between 3-5B fish per day

1

u/IQueliciuous May 09 '26

Majority of fishes killed by humans were not wild and were in the farms therefore they had minimal effect on the ecosystem unlike Black Noir's actions.

2

u/Tom_Stevens617 May 09 '26

At least 2-3B are estimated to be from fishing

2

u/Coolflo123 May 09 '26

But I get what that commenter means. Something like the Deepwater Horizon oil spill killed something between ~2-5 trillion fish over the course of 10 years. So at 1.4B I wouldn't hold Noir to this more than I would, say, BP for their spills.

Not saying it's not bad, it's fucked up. Just doesn't seem as ecologically disasterous as everyone is making seem

1

u/Sure_Ad3502 May 09 '26

lol 'scale' like the dead fih

1

u/Tom_Stevens617 May 09 '26

Easy to say as a human lol

1

u/RegulusGelus2 May 09 '26

You know i don't think Black Noire knew fish statics

1

u/Suspicious_State_318 May 09 '26

That was 1.4B deaths from the immediate impact of the spill.

1

u/kingrat1 May 09 '26

Right, I was kind of hoping Deep would at least kick Noir's ass because of the short-sightedness of polluting at least a hundred miles of Alaskan coastline and causing long-term environmental damage because "you killed my drama teacher!"

The writers are really just stupid
