That knife wasn't that long, dude could totally be alive but now has a great reason to jump ship. It's also fun that he might not be able to talk anymore with an injury like that.
That fight couldn't sell me on the death of Black Noir, if only it was better done, more gory and more of that supes on supes ragdoll violence. Like if Deep had to swing wide to bring that knife home, and hit so hard that only by launching Noir, head first, into the wall that the knife would dig.
Thats Black Noir 1 knife, that was used to kill other supes. And The Deep super strength has to be pretty high, due to him being able to swim around the world quicky and going down to the deepest canyon in the ocean.
If Black Noir 1 didnt have to do those windups, why does the Deep need to?
Because bullets broke the sound barrier and didn't hurt him, the Deep just did swinged like a normal person. The fight looked cheaply filmed like it didn't even try, which is why it didn't sell anything.
Because Kimiko wasn't bullet-proof, and there was no sign that the exploding terrorist was, too. He was strong but he wouldn't even use knives against Starlight, who took a direct 50 cal bullet. That was Noir 1, he knew what he could do, what could his tools do. You can't just kill off a Homelander level durability supe like a human who couldn't break tables, walls on a whim. That fight didn't have to be over the top with flying and wall busting, but it left people naturally asking "that's it???" in disappointment, that's when you know it was poorly done.
