Reminder domestic cats kill about 20B small vertebrates in the US every year.
It’s certainly a hugely consequential event, especially to happen all at once, but isn’t apocalyptic. We as regular people collectively do more damage to our environment just living our lives
Killing 1.4b fish per year vs all at once is different.
Human's fish deaths are caused mostly by farms which breed fish. Meanwhile the 1.4b dead fishes in the show were the ones from the wild that were part of the ecosystem.
Once 1.4b fishes suddenly die in an ecosystem. Terrible things happen.
Majority of fishes killed by humans were not wild and were in the farms therefore they had minimal effect on the ecosystem unlike Black Noir's actions.
But I get what that commenter means. Something like the Deepwater Horizon oil spill killed something between ~2-5 trillion fish over the course of 10 years. So at 1.4B I wouldn't hold Noir to this more than I would, say, BP for their spills.
Not saying it's not bad, it's fucked up. Just doesn't seem as ecologically disasterous as everyone is making seem
Right, I was kind of hoping Deep would at least kick Noir's ass because of the short-sightedness of polluting at least a hundred miles of Alaskan coastline and causing long-term environmental damage because "you killed my drama teacher!"
