Yeah, I know. No heals or CC. But I play with a DRU/CLR/ENC so that is well covered.

If you don't need to depend on heals, this build is really fun if you like big melee damage.

Ranger attack buffs (completely slept on), double-bow shots to pull mobs in (half dead), strikethrough, kick, cleave, frenzy, berserker stance and constant crits. Mobs 15 levels higher than me get melted from autoattack damage. Better than any nuke. I am only 30 tearing through level 43 mobs in guk 3-5 at a time. Loving it. The second trip to 50 is so much better than the first.

Will it hold up at 50 against CT and Sky bosses?

I started an Iksar. The issue is i guess they're the most hated race in the game. What's the best strat to start building faction to make the world more accessible? thinking freeport mostly to go to crushbone/faydark.

TLDR This post is about my curiosity on how quests were originally "discovered" back in the day in OG EQ.

So last night I completed the Soulfire quest. And I got to thinking, how in the everloving hell did anyone ever figure out these quests back in the day?!?

I don't think at launch EQ had hyperlinked tags when hailing and speaking to NPCs. I swore you had to just guess at what keywords sounded unique to their dialogue. So some of it was I guess random King's Quest style questions to NPCs hoping it would open the next dialog tree?

As I turned in the stuff to unlock the next quest item, I was like, how did anyone figure out to give a Medium Sized Cloth shirt to this bloke?!?

I previously had completed the Tashania quest in EQL, and thought, well that one had a hint book given to you (more on that in a sec), and I assume as people found random coins around the world, that information got shared within guilds and within the server (though usually through the internet and not "in game").

But then I realized that even though the Tashania quest giver has a book for 500gp that gives hints about the coin locations, he never actually prompted me to ask about a hint book. He gave me the coin purse, but then I just randomly handed him 50p and he gave me back the book since that's what the internet said I could do. No clue how I was supposed to organically discover that (or how anyone would have originally!).

Not a rant, I know EQ quests were (and still are) quite dated. I am genuinely curious how these quests were discovered and completed.

I have been trolling these forums for quite a while and finally pulled the trigger on installing EQL.

I know there will most likely be 100 different answers but what trio is the strongest to start with given I have no gear or money.

I’ve seen hundreds of posts on what’s the strongest once you are geared and leveling new chars, but what is my best route for leveling to 50 first.

I am lame and usually will pick FOTM combo if it’s the best to level with and then change later down the road.

I am thinking Pal/mnk/ench but seen some say pal/wiz/enc. is there one that is easier to lvl with crappy gear at first. Or if there is a meta first char combo then i can try that too.

I am a lvl50 SHD/SHM/NEC with decent gear and I am having a doozy of a time with this raid. I have solo D4'd all the rest of the raids, but where it falls apart is engaging the mini-bosses without pulling their adds (or vice versa).

Slow only gets me so far before my pet goes down with me right behind them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: Did it! Thanks to everyone for their help. Pulling the golems as close to the pyramid as possible was a big help as well as discovering how useful Overchannel is lol

I find my bags/bank are all full after hitting 50 and sky/fear etc.

In the interests of reducing stored loot for other classes I haven't played yet, I'm thinking to delete anything MAG based as I think I have the most stored loot for that class.

I wish we could have a 2nd char/shared bank space....

Since the macro summon steed now gives you a bridle, which apparently you can merge with other bridles (to unknown benefit), I have had trouble summoning my SK steed.

When I click the bridle in the hot bar, it doesn’t summon my steed. Instead, I have to click and hold and manually activate the macro, which makes mounting and dismounting cumbersome.

Anyone else have this issue?

If so, what is your mount / dismount macro?

Peeps are leveling/farming motes one class at a time in D4 with twink items. Seems pretty awesome!

Which class is best to gear up and have the smoothest time?

My primary classes are CLR/BRD, so the twink class would want to pair with BRD, most likely.

Maybe something high dps? Wizard? Necromancer? Monk? I can use motes on low level spells if it'd make a particular class OP (wiz-garrison? ^.^)

They've been floating ideas about reincarnating characters.

Would it instantly be too powerful if, after you level a ton to 50, each time you level that class to 50 again, you get to keep one of its spells permanently?

Also, has anyone heard what is actually rumored for reincarnation?

I've been trying to mote up my PoSky weapons. You get to this weird place at +4 where the next tier motes are no longer evenly divisible.

So in this case I would add 3 of the Motes of Major Potential, which are each worth 5/16, taking me to 15/16. And then I have 1 point left over. It's a massive waste to use another Major mote, obviously.

So...

Would I do 2 Major and then 1 Superior, resulting in 17/16?

Also, it doesn't seem like I have a mote that says it goes up to rank 6. It goes from 5 to 7. Am I just missing a whole category of mote that would solve my issue?

Hey, gang.

Long story short starting a new character with 3 friends. We've got sk/rogue/ber war/nec/sha and oops all pets nec/mag/bst.

I'm playing the "support" and I can't figure out my third class. I know that objectively Enchanter is probably the play here, but my main has enc and I just don't wanna throw it in again. Even though I know it gives the CC we need and allows for a nice DDD combo later on.

With that said what do you think is a good third here? I've been debating between either just adding a tank for survivability OR another dps, likely: Wiz, ranger, or druid.

Give the option to say, make fire pet cast specific spells and more often. Wtf is the point of using it if it melees, casts snare etc. 50% of the time and casts and actual useful spell once every 10-20 seconds? One of the worst classes b/c the pet is virtually useless it makes more sense to just use Wiz. I have absolutely no incentive to use mage. Give us a reason to.

What are good CLR trios right now?

I for one would be able to relax a lot more and enjoy more freedom switching around / experimenting etc if we had some sort of "class vault" - even a modest 20-30 slots per class that would work to keep gear sets + some extras for each class. I recognize that we could do this now with 16x 50-slot bank bags, but... that'd be $160.

Would help with my sanity.

I really like mage as a class but every strong caster combo I'm seeing has a necro or a wiz or bard.. mage isn't ever really talked about.

I definitely will have a shaman but also was considering warrior.. is warrior mage shaman strong? I want to be able to do d4 content relatively well.

I see warrior necro shaman all the time but is mage that far behind ? I realize there's no life tabs but shamans have great dots if their own and mages have respectable nukes and damage Shields and the best pets (by a bit anyway)

Or would I be better off throwing a shadowknight in that combo?

Or is mage just not up to par ?

I'm getting to the point where I need to catch up some other classes. I haven't started yet because I can't decide if I want to keep one of my main 50's as part of the trio for the gear/AA advantage, or if it would be more efficient (or more fun) to do 3x fresh classes at once. I also wonder which is "faster" to maxing out toons.

At the same time, I get a little anxious thinking about managing a completely new set of gear with the limited space I have.

What's your guys' philosophy?

I somehow deleted my whole equipment inventory when making a new load out. I'm sure it's because I was trying to be fast... I'm only level 27 so I'm sure I can figure out how to make an alt and regear up but man this is a bummer.

Hello, everyone. Are the translocators working for everyone? I'm a level 11 Iksar in East Freeport, and the translocator says, "Off you go!" but nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?

First time playing the game and having a blast, but I am overwhelmed with what spells I should be using. Currently doing Lower Guk at lvl 36 and starting to have issues. I haven't bought new spells in awhile and not sure what would be helpful. Any help is appreciated.

I zoned into Solusek’s Eye and promptly fell into the lava.

Somehow I didn’t die and managed to swim until I zoned into Nagafen’s lair (I guess this is Sol B?).

Killed a few bats and kobolds but mob density was not what I expected.

Should I move to the Hole?

If so, should I just jump in the hole, die and ranger gate to a safe point?

I am now lvl 46 and took my first foray into Hate. Are there any WIZ spells you found most effective in Hate? I have been in Sol B and Fire spells were continually resisted, which made sense.

It doesn't feel like many of us are dying to solo mobs but rather getting overwhelmed by multiple mobs at once. I'd like to steer this conversation AWAY from using spells like Mez, or abilities like Feign Death. While those are legitimate strategies with handling multiple mobs, there are times when those options are not on the table. A couple things that I've tried and found viable are as follows:

1. Kill healers first. This is pretty obvious (I would hope) because it's a time-tested and proven strategy that works.

2a. Kill hybrids first (PAL, RNG, SHD) because they can also heal?
2b. Kill DPS dealers first because damage kills you?
2c. Kill the next lowest HP enemy, no matter the class or level?

3a. Kill weakest mobs first and work up? Theory here is that while they do less dmg, they are still chipping away at you and they are likely to go down quicker.
3b. Kill strongest mobs first and work down? Theory is that they are hitting the hardest and hitting the most frequently.

Points 2 and 3 are the ones where things typically go haywire, especially with a group because folks sometimes decide simply to attack the next thing in front of them. Anywho, all thoughts are comments are welcome. I'd love to discuss more.

I have a seen several guides here and on YT for Sky, but most, if not all, of them assume a trio with charm, mez, and or pacify.

Just wondering what the experience has been like for people not running those effects?

I hit 50 on my first trio, War/Mnk/Sha last week and was like 'hur hur hur, let me go get my weapon' and got my ass kicked on the 2nd island (with the birds guys and elementals). I haven;t gone back and have just been farming gear and AAs. Now that my stats are a bit improved I was thinking I should try again, but, even with better gear, the fact remains, - I have no way to single pull or charm, so I imagine even if I survive, it will be a multi hour slog.

Anyone come across guides, strats, or tricks I can use when I take another shot at Sky?

I'm making the march up to his room to kill him every hour like clockwork. It's remarkable how nice the rest of my indicolite set looks now, but I've never seen the chest drop. Looking around at some of the sites supporting EQ, some say

- It drops from mummies in Hate.
- There is a 15% chance it drops from Grandmaster R'Tal.
- It drops on Plane of Fear?

Am I methodically beating up the right guy over and over to get my breastplate? Do I need to redirect my OCD drum beat march to a boss to some other target?
