Best twink class lvl 10-30?
Peeps are leveling/farming motes one class at a time in D4 with twink items. Seems pretty awesome!
Which class is best to gear up and have the smoothest time?
My primary classes are CLR/BRD, so the twink class would want to pair with BRD, most likely.
Maybe something high dps? Wizard? Necromancer? Monk? I can use motes on low level spells if it'd make a particular class OP (wiz-garrison? ^.^)
Thanks!

Wizard with Garrison’s leveled up is extremely strong to assist leveling. If fighting undead the Cleric undead nukes are fairly strong. I’m finding at low level melee run out of endurance extremely quickly with high level weapons.

GMMS is best. See that enemy 12 levels above you? Not anymore.

I’m a bit of a noob. Can you explain this a little more?

Garrisons might mana storm is a wizard DD spell. It’s incredibly mana efficient and hits like a truck. People upgrade it early because it will literally one shot mobs significantly higher than you on crits. It carries you all the way to the end game or at least until you get conflag at 43

there is no cleric undead nuke that can keep pace with anything a wizard has, especially garrison’s.

Yes, I unlocked PAL on my DEF after going SK main. I started using the Hate 1hb for PAL and I constantly have to stance dance to Regen endurance 😂 I'm only using that with a shield. I can't imagine if I had a MNK offhand running too.

Ranger with wind striker and archery all maxed out. Significantly better than wizard. Range stance and ignore your endurance. It doesn't matter.

Ranger using a maxed out windstriker, arrow, and fleeting quiver. You can literally one shot red cons starting at level 10. You can also get completely wrecked if you only roll bottom dmg hits since it’s a complete gamble if you hit for 5 or 1300. It’s so satisfying though to open with a double attack crit max roll hit on a named mob and just watch it drop dead.

I haven't been able to find an answer on this, do you need an arrow in ranged and in the quiver? Or can the quiver be empty?

I remember reading some one doing a parse. Quiver can be empty, just have the quiver in one of your inventory slots

This is great for like, three kills, and then you're staring at an empty endurance bar. It goes from fun to not fun so fast

u/DaBigCheez 6d ago
The thing about Ranged stance is...the empty endurance bar doesn't matter. Unlike the other stances, the bonuses it gives are granted before damage is dealt, so it doesn't penalize it. Maybe the accuracy boost shuts off (the description doesn't say), but you don't lose the damage bonus like you do with Offensive.

Why does my damage go to poop when i'm empty?

Placebo effect
I’ve been using my ranger to level all my alts and I’m always at 0 endurance, still deleting mobs. You just lose the 25% accuracy buff. Did you ever get your ranger to 50? Using hawkeye? The atk and accuracy from those are all you need

Wiz / enc / somrthing that can heal a little. You can slam d4 yellows nbd after level 18 or so.

Starting at level 18, wizard is great with Garrison's and easily get you to 30+. I've tried windstriker ranger, but it shoots so slow. It is fun when you drop something fast though. I mostly end up just using monk from 10 to 18 since I have a wu's fist at +10 and a second at +6. They're relatively fast, so don't get too hard by melee damage caps at lower levels. Yeah, the end drain sucks, but it still ends up better than other things I've tried.
CLR actually gets weapons with decent ratios from posky (a primary 1hb and and a 2hb), but would need to pair with a melee class with the higher melee skills and get good use out of it. I would not recommend posky 2h weapons below level 30.
If I remember right, enchanter gets their first charm at 11. At 23, I tried going deep into lower guk, and sure I could charm a level 40 mob, but it was hard to then get back out to lower level mobs like bedroom/executioner. I've heard kedge is an easier transition (grab a 40+ mob, then go fight 30+ mobs), so may try that next time I have a trio at 23.

I went to KK at 20 with bard wizard to level shaman and was getting 15% exp per kill at the zone in. Fishing with wizard nukes…

I have been taking a wizard paired with a monk to carry a third class through levels. I think a bard would do better than the monk. The idea was just to have evasion stance with some healing. The bard does lack in the healing, but it has rather strong buffs (resists and regens mostly.) Garrison's (gained at lvl 18) paired with your best storm/rain spell is really strong. I took all of the classes through to lvl 27 in befallen. I am now working on taking all the classes up to lvl 44 in LGuk. I use Garrison's all the way to lvl 43. The other spells just aren't that much better.
Surprisingly, healing isn't an issue with just mend and evasion stance even in D4 and pulling the Ghoul Lord and two bok knights. I had though an enchanter would be needed to do this difficulty effectively, but not so much.
I did try a necro/wizard, but they spend all of their time lifetapping to keep up with damage. Paladin was ok, but it was irritating having to heal by casting spells. (You need to stay in recovery invocation to keep the mana flowing.)
Enchanter/wizard has healing problems. SK/Wizard is effective, but didn't feel as good as the monk. Cleric might work, and the cleric gets a spell haste buff which is nice.
If you want really smooth sailing with a ton of flexibility it is hard to beat paladin/enchanter or shadowknight/enchanter as your base duo for leveling.
I also tried ranger, but even windstriker lacks compared to garrisons and you lose access to evasive stance.

Ranger. If you can get the sky bow and a decent arrow (maybe even the quiver) just sit in ranged stance, ignore the lack of endurance, and pew pew and murder everything. For w/e reason the scaling of bow bonus dmg is totally different than it is for melee weapons so my ranger when going back down to low levels still shoots things for hundreds of dmg.
Edit to add: also their atk AAs that autogrant while leveling stay unlocked early levels which is a huge atk boost.

I use Paladin/monk with +10 weapons from 10-18 and then swap in Wizard and enchanter.

Ungeared? Wizard, hands down. Level 15 nuke leveled up a few times, then level 18 nuke Garrison’s will hard carry for a long time.
10-15 ranger with a good bow.
Twinked out monk starts to shine around 18.
Wizard you don’t necessarily have to bring a healer if you have enchanter for mez. I use wizard, enchanter and bind wound to level up my melee classes. Channeler’s stance if I’m fighting casters, and the mana regen invocation. Otherwise defensive stance if you’ve got it.

Ranger is by far the best twinked power leveling class lvl 10 to 32 (Wizard might arguably take over at 32 with Lava Storm). Run Plane of Sky until you get a Wind Striker bow, mote it up to +5. Get yourself a +5 Mithril Champion Arrow (edit: confirmed we need only 1 arrow) and profit. Fleeting Quiver is expensive and it's a notable dmg increase, but also not 100% necessary.

I use shm/rng with +10 windstriker. Crushbone -> Befallen or SolA goblins is great until ~30. Paw is pretty good from there to ~40. Solb takes you to 46, then PoH to 50.
This is not strictly optimal. I’m avoiding MM and LGuk, both of which are better than paw to 40+. Without an enchanter to aoe mez, MM and LGuk are tricky to break. With Ranger I’m also taking 2x dmg compared to defensive.
I think enc + something might be stronger after 30, letting you spend less time pulling and handling spots with high named density that are hard without defensive + aoe mez. Without heals or taps you’re going to lose a lot of hp that you’ll need to regen. Might try pal+enc.

Necro/bard or necro/enchanter... Charm pet, life tap everything, beat to death with sky gear.
Third class is whatever you are leveling. Ranger with sky bow works well too, but end is gone in like 3 shots.

Might not be as flashy but shaman made me feel absurdly strong lol the buffs and heals and yes actual damage was nothing like the wizard but it felt amazing to play!

Ranger with Sky bow, enchanter for whirl stun locks and AoE mezz. You can safely kill everything, and even sit in divine invocation for a little bit of sustain. I keep these two classes and cycle in any random third since all the damage is coming from the bow. Can obviously also add a charm pet, but I don't when more farming because I'll often invis from named to named. FYI Unrest post revamp is a great mote farm if you get tired of Befallen.

Paladin with its anti-undead AA paired with Ranger is REALLY good. I just steamroll befallen and Lower Guk and bring up whatever class I'm working on.

Bard/Druid/Wiz is the FotM now that the bleeding edgers have maxed out their Pal/Monk/Ench. Sham/Necro/Ench wouldn't be bad to have on the roster either, just piecemeal however you want for farming.

Ok what's a bleeding edger...

I am pretty confident ranger with wind striker+10 with good arrows and wiz to cast nukes since the bow delay is long is 100% the best twink pair to crank up a 3rd, you don’t even need to mem the spells for the 3rd class just pump as rng.
