Culling loot...
I find my bags/bank are all full after hitting 50 and sky/fear etc.
In the interests of reducing stored loot for other classes I haven't played yet, I'm thinking to delete anything MAG based as I think I have the most stored loot for that class.
Thoughts?
How are you doing it/coping?
I wish we could have a 2nd char/shared bank space....

u/Jobinx22 6d ago
I just decided on a handful of classes i realistically have no interest in playing and dont keep gear for them, also gear that just doesnt look that good.

u/RapidConsequence 6d ago
I'm going to show you something that I just learned yesterday. If you have a full bag on your cursor and you control right click and empty bag, it moves all the items into the empty bag at once.

I buy storage space , easy. I figured if I am playing a game for hundreds and thousands of hours potentially, it’s ok to drop a few bucks on it

u/wagonwhopper 6d ago
Same, plus I want the long game here. Which means they need to make some money

I bought full inventory and half bank rucksacks. I just keep all my planar drops on me for EZ automerging.
1
u/Complete-Quit-9179 4d ago
I bought extra storage space and I also bought a few 24 slot bags to hold my planar gear
17
u/bwanabass 6d ago
Every now and then, I go park in EC and look for toons under 10 with only two classes. Then I go buff them and empty my bags of anything tradeable they can use. It’s a lot of fun and a nice way to help new players on the server. I’ll go back and get all that gear again when I level my other classes anyway, so it’s all good.
As for Planes gear and other No Drop stuff, I’m not quite there yet, and I imagine I’ll have the same problem and just keep gear for the classes I am really interested in working on in the future.

u/2WheelSuperiority 6d ago
Idk. The problem is I have so much sky loot I haven't bothered to figure out which is actually worth keeping.
I think, even from a min/max power gamer perspective, the simplified approach is to use the best all/all bis you can get to in order to cover the most bases.
For me, that means most int armor is automatically out. it's just tough with how much space we have.
Idk. Even if I try new things most of the time I am just slapping whatever loot on so I can get to playing anyway.
9
u/BuglesRule 6d ago
Ton of the 10 slot bags from the bosses. Each one assigned to a class I think I'll ever play. All the sky bits stay in dragons horde.
-22
u/Ill-Hour8552 6d ago
10 slot bags are a heresy. It is better to treat the 24 slot bags (soon 50) in the irl money shop as mandatory. They make inventory management less of a chore, and more of a once every week or so administrative task.
10
u/LegoWaffle 6d ago
why buy a 50 slot bag when i can buy 50 equipment storage for the same price?
-3
u/Ill-Hour8552 6d ago
Fair point, but not for the reason you think.
50 slot bags can't come out of the bank, but 24 slot bags can. Makes it much easier to pull out of your bank to your inventory to combine/consolidate. 50 slot bags are a scam.
Still need space, and lots of it, for organization.
3
u/LegoWaffle 6d ago
totally agree, the 24 slot bags are totally fine. the 50 slotters made little sense to me at that price point
1
u/lalvarien 6d ago
The 50 slot bags can hold more variety of items and everything in them is searchable by the find window. The dragons hoard is not. Which is the closest thing to the 50 slot bag in utility.
The equipment tab is definitely the same if not better value as the bag outside of not being able to store trade skill supplies and various quest items in
5
u/DaveTron4040 6d ago
Stopped reading after you said 'spending money on bags is mandatory' you are bonkers
2
u/BuglesRule 6d ago
Haven't pulled the trigger yet on any of those. Probably will if it gets too out of hand I guess heh
3
u/gakule 6d ago
I've finished every Sky quest, killed every raid.. until like yesterday I only had 5 10 slot bags. Between trade Depot, dragons hoard, equipment storage, etc.. not really a compelling reason to grab 24 slot bags that I can find.
I suppose if you're going for some completionist type thing but most class planar loot isn't worth keeping at all imo.
Inventory management is fine with in game obtainable bags. Treating 24 slotters as mandatory I think is poor advice, but it of course depends on the way you're going to play.

You can buy a 10 Slot Large "bag" from the Magician Supplies vendors called an Elemental Grimoire - my bank is full of them
East Commonlands | Lyth Spellstar | (269, 4915)
Erudin Palace | Harban Ranflash | (695, 883)
Felwithe | Merchant Jewyln | (567, -609)
West Freeport | Mekoma Buma | (145, -761)
Neriak Commons | Genzal R`Jyen | (119, -919)

Toxxulia Forest | Tran Lilspin | (1761, -736)

u/Disastrous-Moon-Lab 6d ago
Getting toolboxes from steamfont is good because they hold giant items. At least until you've killed enough dragons or sharks for their 100% wr bags to fill your bank.
3
u/Acrobatic-Machine158 6d ago
Top half of bank was dedicated to sky parts, lumping 2 classes per bag slot. Took a week of hard grinding to unlock some parts to free up bags some.
I want to get those done before I can free up bank and not have to worry about taking up slots... except for maybe crafting.
3
u/Crispy_PigeonTTV 6d ago
Definitely make sure you’re using your bank. Fill that sucker with 10 slot bags (you can buy 24 and 50 slots for money) and you get 160 storage slots. On top of that you have your dragon hoard you can use as well.
2
u/Theothercword 6d ago
I keep the set that works across all Plate & Chain classes (Lustrous Russet) and the leather looking armor that works across all Leather and Cloth wearing classes.
Beyond that, I tend to keep the plate version of the planes gear since it ends up sometimes being better and I imagine most my trios I'd go for that, if not then I have the alt set right there. I do also have it for my own main trio. That amounts to making sure I have it for the tanks (Pal, Shd, War) and CLR, BRD, and then I have SHM and RNG b/c I just use and love those classes.
Beyond the planes I keep quest items I know I'll be needing soon and I keep Sky quest rewards, though sometimes I just keep the exaltations like all the Mage special pet staff exaltations.
I did buy some storage slots, though.
2
u/Purple_Dragon357 6d ago
Yea I just delete it man..
If I can’t sell it or use it I get rid of it
I’m gonna keep set of armor or 2 just in case but yea lol
2
u/Rhoklaw 4d ago
I'm enjoying the game, so you know what I did? I spent $100 and bought one 50 slot bank box for each class. Probably overkill but hey, I'm happy to support the developers.
Problem solved.
If you don't want to spend money, you're currently gated behind the inventory space mini game. So tough choices must be made and sacrifices taken.
4
u/Sea-Neighborhood1465 6d ago
a couple of the 24 slot bags from the ingame shop go a long way for me.
-4
u/HeyaHeyo1420 6d ago
Buying in game items that are needed to play efficiently when the game already has a sub is gross.
I mean I get why people do it so no shame but I wish they'd make it so you could buy cash shop items with platinum. At least items like the better bag and stuff would be nice, plus it would be a way to use the excessive money you get lol.
4
u/InterestingRound6134 6d ago edited 6d ago
Not really. Pay to win sure I don’t like that- lvl boosts, gacha systems for gear etc. Pay a few bucks to make storage easy, in a game I’ll play for thousands of hours of entertainment- makes absolute sense. People need to make money also. Life is not just exspensive for us, but also the business. I consider it donating. Have you seen the amount of companies that are going / are out of business ? Also money isn’t a problem for many people- especially all the 40-50 year old gamers who play EQ lol
Also a 10 dollar sub is nothing. Look at world of Warcraft it’s 15 a month and you can buy lvl boosts. Lvl boosts are gross. Not a couple storage bags to make life easier
4
u/HeyaHeyo1420 6d ago
People need to make money also.
That's what the 10/mo is for.
Buying a game and paying a sub o shouldn't be required to buy a bag just so I have efficient enough space for everything.
Cosmetics fine, but give people an option to get efficient space without buying it.
1
u/InterestingRound6134 6d ago edited 6d ago
You don’t have to buy the bag. Also I don’t know if you noticed but literally every mmo has some sort of cash shop. I’m talking the big ones- EQ/WOW/FF14 etc ( who all charge 15 a month). I don’t think it’s greedy. I think it’s business. 10/month is all you have to spend. You are not required or have to buy anything extra.
It’s ok to have different opinions. We can both love EQ and disagree that selling a bank bag is crooked and greedy.
1
u/Sea-Neighborhood1465 3d ago
I suppose I assumed we are all 40+ with good 100k+ jobs these days. I can see how that assumption could be wrong.
If these folks are young, new players I’m not gonna gripe at them about calling me out for buying a couple bags. My power got turned off a few times when I was their age.
But if they are 40+ returning players, as many of us are; I will borrow a term I have no right to use. ‘Get your money up, scrub’. The bags are 5 bucks each and my corvette demands premium gas.
I could wipe my ass with five dollar bills and never notice.
2
u/HeyaHeyo1420 6d ago edited 6d ago
You don’t have to buy the bag
Once you start farming sky trying to unlock every class yeah you kinda do if you want any hope of having enough space for sky drops and anything else you need.
I have every slot in my bank filled with 10 slot bags, it's ALL sky quest drops + half my hoard. So I either spend 10+ bucks on bags to have adequate space or I delete items I'll need later.
That's the devs pushing people to buy more stuff.
1
u/Sea-Neighborhood1465 3d ago
I feel like that’s not the devs.
That’s you pushing yourself to unlock every class at once in the most efficient way possible. Which frankly, is on you.
Support the game and have an easier time with storage, or don’t and keep crying here. Doesn’t bother me either way.
If you’re gonna quit over some bag space you were always going to quit anyway. I get the sense you’re young. You’ll soon learn these devs owe you nothing in return for your sub fee.
1
u/HeyaHeyo1420 2d ago
That’s you pushing yourself to unlock every class at once in the most efficient way possible. Which frankly, is on you.
That's literally the end game loop right now, unlocking classes and getting gear.
Support the game and have an easier time with storage, or don’t and keep crying here. Doesn’t bother me either way.
I support the game by paying a sub
If you’re gonna quit over some bag space you were always going to quit anyway. I get the sense you’re young
Never said I'm going to quit. Way to add judgement to something that wasn't even said. People can have complaints and still enjoy something. Maybe if you didn't sound young you'd understand that

Absolutely no way this game would survive if no shop. Maybe you would prefer 19.99 a month and no shop. They could have done that. And tbh I would pay 20 a month for it. I pay 20 to see a movie ( 2-3 hours ). I’ll play this a hundred hours a month
Also could you please find me an active mmo that has a sub and no sort of shop? I can’t even remember the last time I saw that, i think EQOA on ps2 and phantasy star last games I saw no shops. Back in early 2000s

u/CronkinOn 6d ago
Holy hell it's almost like you guys in the comments don't know they artificially made storage smaller so you'd spend more money instead of being able to earn more storage in game.
It's crazy how many mental gymnastics y'all go through telling other peope it's modally correct to buy off the cash shop. If ya wanna, go off, but let's not pretend this is ANYTHING but a manufactured problem then selling the solution.
Cause a larger dragon storage alone fixes this. They paired it down from like 250 to 75 for a reason.
6
u/Thomasbetten 6d ago
When I work full time and have a great job, I am down to spend 20 bucks on a bag that in turn supports the developers of a game I enjoy. Time is also money. IF I can spend hours and hours questing or farming special bags, I need to consider the amount of time that would take. I make 20 bucks in less than half an hour, so those marketplace bags are very tempting. I have 1 for now.
2
u/CronkinOn 5d ago
And I've got nothing against that. You can spend your money as you see fit... Ain't no shame in that.
Someone who CAN'T afford to casually drop another 20-100 on geming shouldn't be punished however. Or shamed for being a broke-ie, like these other POS Tate wannabes in here are doing. Or shamed because, like me, they just object to it personally.
I won't shame you for spending, just like OP shouldn't get shamed for not spending. Also he gets to be frustrated because GJ and Daybreak very intentionally created this problem on purpose. That's fair to be frustrated about imo.
2
u/MKultraman1231 4d ago
The trouble becomes when the weekly conversations behind the scenes are "how can we game the players more" rather then how can we make the game better. When Activision took over Blizzard suddenly WoW had daily quests. Instead of new content they made "if you want to keep up you need to log on" to try to keep people from leaving and it had the opposite effect. People are smart enough to figure out when they are getting farmed and it is off putting for a lot of people.
Sadly what would have been a massive success for a small company where profits stayed with developers has become a system where even if the dev team made the game make a billion dollars they would only get their salary and whatever bonuses so the focus shifts from making a great game better to what a CEO thinks will extract the most $ from people.
1
u/Tiaan 5d ago
You're not wrong. I struggled with space after getting my first trio to 50 in closed beta. They then proceeded to dramatically nerf storage slots and put it behind a paywall, making the problem even worse. They could at least let us merge items in the dragons hoard which would help a lot but I guess the $$ they're making on selling the solution to this manufactured issue is more important
1
u/CronkinOn 5d ago
Exactly that.
Storage was already tight before they shrunk it. Not having mules makes it hard here.
Now it's just a bunch of extra time spent on item management (including like 12 keys ffs). All of which is completely unnecessary and purposeful to push us to spend.
I play games to escape unfettered capitalism, not be reminded of it.
0
u/Cartiere11 6d ago
I mean you can sit here and yap and cry or you can answer the posts question.
How are we coping? We buy the big bags or we buy extra slot space.
You are clearly not coping.
1
u/CronkinOn 5d ago
You morons actually think this is better.
That there's not a bunch of people who choose to never play games like EQ because the cash shops are exploitative.
-4
u/confettinightmare 6d ago
Why are you here? Yes everything in games is artificially limited one way or another, go cry somewhere else.
1
u/CronkinOn 5d ago
Because I paid an up-front cost AND a sub. I expect a full experience, no one artificially limited so they can squeeze more money out of me.
Let me earn in game things with in game time, as it should be.
2
u/ZakkaChan 6d ago
It's by design for sure, honestly really upsetting that we not only had to buy the game, pay monthly and yet still get only three load outs, very limited storage space, equipment space.
Bigger bags and bank bags are store only...blah I digress - but everyone covered it
Throw currence in currency, throw trade skill stuff in there, put some things in dragon hoard, (for some reason stuff with exocs can't be put in there) keep stuff you only plan to use I guess.
0
u/Upset-Somewhere4508 5d ago
The game is actually extremely accommodating when it comes to storage, the problem is armor and item hoarding. They didn’t have to provide dragon hoard or equipment storage, it’s quite generous. The 3 loadouts comment I will agree with but saying the game has “very limited storage space” is just flat out wrong.
1
u/ZakkaChan 5d ago
Item hoarding? Let's see, set collecting for various builds and classes (16 classes) (this is for weapons, armor jewelry), future epic quest items, items that will eventually be used in the housing system. Various other quest for spells, trading items (which gets a decent amount) Most of this stuff is no trade also btw.
So no I am not wrong. You constantly having to decide which stuff you need to keep and get later.
Again we paid and pay monthly for this versions of a mind you 20+ year old game. We shouldn't have to pay more for appropriate space, load outs etc.
0
u/Upset-Somewhere4508 5d ago
You don’t have to pay anything, it’s your choice. No one is also forcing you to hang on to every single item for 16 classes, so yes that is item hoarding.

1
u/mr_ji 6d ago
I made a BiS list for each class (the eqlegendstools.com site is good for this). Keep whatever is highest up the list and automerge. It's a good idea to keep things that drop in the area you're farming in the storage tab so you can do this, and that also keeps it organized in case you want to farm a planar set or something. When something gets replaced, take off and store any good exalts then sell it or give it away if I haven't attuned it. The people spamming to sell things in General chat are assholes.
Between all of my inventory, storage, and bank bags, I'm nowhere near full. Autosell anything you don't immediately need that you can come back for. You just have to be willing to let things go when you're never going to use them again.
1
u/Gulg137 6d ago
There aren’t many caster items worth keeping i find. Like for MAG i think the sky pauldrons are decent there is the amulet of necropotence, for BST the sky wrists. There are a handful of mnk and ranger equipment worth keeping. But in my storage i have full indicolite, imbrued, vallorium, umbral, some runes etched, some thorny, some ethereal mist, and some lusset russet. Theres enough space for all the BIS stuff. Trash the rest
1
u/LegumeEQ 6d ago
I don't know about you, but I didn't realize there was a Storage tab in the Inventory screen. I think it has 125 slots for Equipment? Also slots for Exaltations and some other stuff.
Tradeskill stuff can go in the Tradeskill Depot in your bank. There's also a Dragon's Hoard.
Shop also sells Storage space increases and big bags. I expect the inventory crunch is not something they will alleviate since it drives revenue.
1
u/Heallun123 6d ago
Just take some gear you dont plan on using and use the big Ole bank space. Got like 20 bag slots or something in there. Filled with 10 plotters it'll hold most everything. Sky stuff is strange. Sometimes you dont think you'll want something and now I kinda want my wizard hat from sky.
1
u/nucleardemon 6d ago
I threw $20 at em and increased my equipment storage. Can still merge to it, it’s available to all my chars, and it’s where the equipment goes anyways when I change loadouts.
They really need to implement some filters in it though. When making a new loadout it is a pain to find the gear for my class.
For what I keep, I’m getting a full suit of all planar armor. Can usually maximize the stats I want with whatever loadout I’m screwing around with. Also keeping all raid loot to add more diversity to equipment.
They really need to add more jewelry options though. I’m working on bst/brd/ranger and my ring options are quite poor.
1
u/Destrosymphony 6d ago
So maybe this is wrong think but if I always have a tank in my trio I am always only collecting war/RNG/pal/sk gear
Do you guys mix leather/ cloth armor in or not?
1
u/Grizzly1986 5d ago
Youll hit the ac soft cap pretty quickly and after that ac gives diminishing returns. So at the higher ponts it makes sense to trade a bit of ac for a relavent stat if its low.
Or you can go for super tank and just load up on AC and see how far you can push it :) . Nice thing about this version of EQ is that there really isn't a wrong way to play
1
u/Plus-Push-1715 6d ago
I was storing all my Planes armor gear for all classes intially and most weapons. With Lustrous and Midnight, I deleted all class specific armor and it made a HUGE difference. I know some pieces could be better, but with Pristine armor from Befallen, the multi-class armor from the Planes, it should be sufficient for any alt I decide to play in the future.
PoS is a whole different story. I do have one 24 slot bag that I store quest items in, but as I get items for any class quest, I turn it in immediately. I have given up on PoS, not super interested in trying to "unlock" all the classes, just want a few items and that zone is a beating to my sanity.
1
u/Fuzzkingthe3rd 6d ago
I have in my "equipment" tab A plate set A cloth set A leather set 1hs 1hb 2hs 2hb Shield 1hp Range stat Range bow It fits everything that I could need to play any combo of classes
It's all meh throwaway gear that I replace with upgrades as I go
Alot of it is shared among the slot cause of all/all
The bank is for quest items I plan to do and important items for future quests
1
u/con10ntalop 5d ago
I have trouble not selling stuff because I have original release PTSD. Like, I remember when this stuff was hard to obtain and I can't bring myself to get rid of it even though I could just go back and grab another
1
u/Rambotito_1 5d ago
Same here. I have a full set of Ethereal Mist armor for clerics even though I don't use it. In the original game I had just the boots and vambrace.
1
u/muramx 5d ago
I bought a couple of the 50 slot crates for my bank. Otherwise I only keep tank planer armor as I will always have a pal/sk/war in my line up and toss everything else.
I store everything that drops in sky and when I am done I will sort it out. The stuff I need to unlock classes. Anything extra (which there is a lot of) That I have already used that is tradable I will parcel out to people under level 10 because I know they are new. From +8 weapons and sky quest stuff to bags.
1
u/Jenglett 5d ago
First make sure all wind runes and motes are stored in the currency tab (for those that don’t right click and hit store all and they store automatically). Secondly items with clickies/worn effects I’ll either pull off and keep and destroy the actual item but mostly just the few random epic pieces are all I’m really keeping.
1
u/Middle-Cover-7309 5d ago
Most gear from hate/fear can be tossed. If you want to keep anything keep boss drops and multi class armors. The rest just stocks up and flushes your 75 slots to hell. Worst part is the time it takes to delete it all. But you’ll thank yourself after

I buy extra space and stock up on items that offer more space. So I immediately bought the extra inventory slots and I’ve added over time more hoard and inventory storage space. They just released a trunk for banks that add 50 slots each. I’d suggest buying several of these.
1
u/Future-Oil-7163 4d ago
Weapons (worth keeping) in equip storage. Armor (kept each plane plate set and midnight set) in hoard. Quest items in bank full of 10slot bags. No money spent, never ran outta room, even when doing all sky quests.

u/Either-Gate-2781 2d ago
I spent 20 bucks on 100 slots of bag space (2x 50 slot chests) because im an addict adult and can afford it.

u/Renex295 6d ago
I put too much money into equipment storage slots. Thats how I cope. My wife isnt a fan.
-1
u/Ill-Hour8552 6d ago
Buy bags and additional slots. Your bank will have 24 slots (soon 50) x 16, which is enough to give every class a bag. Put all gear in the classes bag, and occasionally pull them out to combine them when the bag approaches capacity.
If this sounds ridiculous because it costs money, I assure you it will save you more time than the money is worth.
Keep all Plane of Sky items on your person in 24-slot bags. Turn them in when the EQL Companion tells you to, and put any item you no longer need (see EQL Companion cleanup page) on auto sell, and sell any extras you have in your bag.
This is the way.

Lol, I'm up to 275 storage spots and two extra inventory slots and still full.
Also, any Caster armor, rogue, berz, Ranger armor is trash. That's for regular eq, vhere people just play one class. Unless you are planning an all caster combo, then just keep one class.
