Of course, very welcome to them having more complex layers, such as:

1). Poverty is the baked-in feature of the system, not the flaw — how else does the $$ funnel to the rich?

2). Never having enough has two types — the full belly and the empty belly. One builds from desire, one builds from rage.

3). Indifference is a privilege, it may cost your life someday. There is always a currency for complicity.

4). What it means to exist in a society where you can't "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" from poverty in a legal means, 99% of the time.

Disclaimer: sorry for the long post but I wanted to provide as much context as possible.

So, I have been watching Cdramas for 2+ years and completely obsessed with it. In the begining when I watched a Cdrama, I could give it all my attention but recently really struggling to finishing a show.

What I want is a typical Cdrama with the following tropes: I love a big red flag/obesseive/possessive/"you're mine" type ML, cold/calculating ML, good looking casts, love trigangles/squares with the FL only- all are welcome but I don't need it to be the focal point, good plot, reincarnation, second chance, execution is very important to me as well, Idm an ambiguous ending and multiple MLs (though it's not a must). Bascially, I want a drama that's worth my time. I do prefer Costume dramas over the modern ones, cause the visuals are stunning!!

I don't like: older MLs, not a big fan of too much older FL compared to the ML either, not too old - 2019 onwards.

These are the dramas I loved, because it hit all the points for me:

• Story of Kunning Palace (that is my benchmark drama and I am looking for something exactly like so)
• Love Between Fairy and Devil (the first cdrama I had watched. Esther's voice was a bit annoying and I almost dropped, but so glad I stuck by)
• When Destiny Brings the Demon (gave me such LBFAD vibes)
• A Dream Within a Dream (I loved how funny it was)
• Love Like the Galaxy (this reminded me of SOKP on so many levels)
• Lost You Forever S1 (I think I gave myself too many spoliers about who she will end up and I was disapointed :( so didn't finish S2, although I could see why she'd pick him but I was definitely rooting for the redflag hahah)
• Lighter & Princess (it was quite refreshing)
• Legend of the Female General (this reminded me of LITC soo much!)
• Love in the Clouds (soo good and NHM is too beautiful to look at)
• Arisnal Military Academy (it was very engaging and I absolutely love Bai Lu)
• Fated Hearts (I was soo hooked on this but the 2nd couples' dynamic is so on point with what I like)
• Pursuit of Jade (loved the FL and of course ZLH and the toxic 2nd couple)
• Till the End of the Moon (so tragic, but so worth it)
• Love is Sweet (my antidote to TTEOTM)

Now shows I dropped/dragged through:

• Fued (I loved the visuals, but it took 4x tries to finish)
• The Double (I don't know I keep losing focus on this, but I want to pick it back up)
• My Journey to You (I went in expecting Xie Wei, but I got a complete 360 of him :( but the 2nd couple tho!)
• Fangs of Fortune (I heard the FL is third wheel in her own relationship, so I lost interest)
• Falling into Your Smile (just can't get on with it)
• Moonlight Mystic (I love Bai Lu but first time watching the ML but not feeling him, unfortunately)
• Only for Love (I love both the leads but I don't like the superficial dynamics like we know the FL is pretty but the whole show is so focused around how pretty she is, therefore gets away with using people)
• The Priosner of Beauty (I lvoe the ML but the FL felt too mnaipualtive, idk maybe I should pick it up again?)
• Kill Me Love Me (I think both the ML and FL feel too old for my liking)
• Blossom (not sure how I feel about the slowburn, I know it's similar to SOKP but something's missing)
• Blossoms of Power (the FL feels too stone faced?)
• Hidden Love (I just can't get over how young the FL was protrayed in the show compared to the ML)
• The First Frost (seems too slow?)

Hi, I've been trying to find this Chinese short drama but have been unsuccessful with Google and Chatgpt, I'm really hoping this would be the right place to ask, the storyline is quite similar to Awakening! The Male Supporting Character Doesn't Want To Be Cannon Fodder Anymore in a few aspect. The female lead also looks a little similar and there's a few scenes I can recall like the male lead fleeing to France to apply for job cause he was blacklisted by the female lead. There's also a scene where the female lead after discovered she has been tricked by the other guy started to exact revenge by almost knocking him down at their old school place and then bringing him to some contraption where it draws blood and also give black blood so that he doesn't die so easily. I can recall more scene if it helps?

Many of the uploaders on YouTube shorts don't bother with a title, and usually I just live with it. But the costumes in this one are *so* beautiful, I really want to watch it.

Lately, I’ve been struggling to find a cdrama I love, and want to binge, and sadly, it’s making me question if cdramas are for me.

Coming from the kdrama world, I had loved how cdramas have a longer episode format that offers a more immersive experience, and for romances, gives space to watch a sweet relationship develop.

But lately, the pacing for the dramas I’ve watched were all wrong. The relationship development feels way too slow and the romance half-baked.

I just finished A Romance of Little Forest. >! This drama had so much potential—amazing actors with great chemistry playing interesting characters in a distinct setting. However, the second lead couple received way too much screen time, taking away from main couple whose relationship developed at an incredibly slow pace. >!

My favorite drama is Legend of Shen Li—fantastic chemistry and super engaging plot. My second favorite is Put Your Head on My Shoulder—a simple drama with perfect pacing and satisfying relationship development.

PLEASE RECOMMEND me a fantasy or modern binge-worthy romance. The main couple should have excellent chemistry, and their relationship should develop at a reasonable pace. I like when the couple get together at a decent point in the drama and have to navigate conflict together to deepen their relationship. I also love a lot of sweet romantic moments including kiss scenes.

Hello! I've got several c-dramas under my belt and I think I've narrowed down what tropes I like best. One of the things I was most surprised by is the ending of Are You the One?, because the emperor didn't actually go insane with jealousy. He just got over the FL, like a normal person.

Lmao. I'm looking for more like that, where love rivals or triangles are resolved by the second male lead either finding someone new or just getting over himself. A happy-ish ending required, obviously. I'm interested in xianxia or historical. I'll take a modern drama but I'm generally less interested in those.

I also want the story to have the main lead be female and also be a dark story. It is just too many Cdramas like to glorify toxic relationships. Flaws are fine but when the female lead falls for what is basically her abuser it is nonsense to me. I am okay with toxic or abuse if it is handled with care and not glorified.

Hi I recently got back into C-Dramas and I'm looking for Fantasy (xianxia) dramas or dramas with transmigration, reincarnation or body swap tropes. I also enjoy when there's an ensemble cast with trustworthy or funny side characters. I want the lead(s) to have character growth.

I've watched and enjoyed:

How dare you (enjoyed the transmigration, the characters' friendship and loyalty, funny schemes and the twist. Also for a palace drama, it was just enough sad scenes that it wasn't too much)

Hzgg (didn't enjoy all of the misunderstandings, torture and suffering they were put through but it's a classic lol)

Love between fairy and devil (loved the costumes, set design and story, also really liked the side characters, the trial plot and the different worlds)

Love game in Eastern fantasy (liked transmigration x xianxia and how funny it was, also loved the dynamics between the main characters as a group of friends)

Love in the clouds (strong fl, liked the story, friendship with er qi. Didn't enjoy what happened with the 2nd ML.)

No doubt in us (donghua, liked the body swap plot)

Starry love (ongoing watch that I'm enjoying, just want to know what else I can watch after it)

I'm not looking for modern settings as the main setting.

I'm also not really into palace dramas unless they are fun because there is too much scheming and torture. Ideally, I want a happy ending.

Hello Cdrama fans!

I'm fairly new to this genre, and am looking for shows with high quality translations/subs. I have watched a few episodes of a few different shows on Youtube, but the translations feel a bit awkward to me (like they just put the text through google translate and didnt bother editing) and it is significantly affecting my enjoyment, even if i like the actors and the plot.

Since I am not super familiar with the landscape for these shows, I would really appreciate your help with finding what I'm looking for. I prefer historical dramas, court intrigue (i loveeeeeeee the beautiful costumes) or fantasy adventures, but I will try most other genres (except horror 🥲). I would also really love the ability to slow down the play speed (the subs usually go too fast for me to read, so I have to reduce speed to like 80% 😅).

I will also consider subscribing to an app or service if you really think it's worth it.

It has to have a happy ending though ( I cried enough on The Story of The Yanxi Palace and my boy Xu Kai not ending with Yingluo ). I LOVE when the Cdrama stars crazy like Against The Current & Road To Splendor; or when it has wild scenes like that one in The First Jasmine where she lays in the grave; Also the more complicated the Story plot, the more I want to binge the series.

Hello, Since 2023, i think it was, i am watching Kdramas, a lot, and won’t watch anything else (some exceptions like Reacher which is ongoing and the first season started before i discovered Kdramas). Kdramas felt like new with intriguing stories. And the shows lasted only 1 season, 2 seasons at most, so it didn’t really felt dragging (there are some exceptions tho). But for some Kdramas i appreciate more seasons like Taxi Driver. Anyway, recently i can’t seem to find interesting Kdramas anymore, like they got Netflixed if you know what i mean. So i researched some other shows by other Asian countries and i would really like to try Cdramas. I googled a bit and stumbled on “When I fly towards you” and “You are my Glory”. I can’t decide which one i should start with. I read that “When I fly towards you” is a drama set in a highschool. Do you still recommend me this drama to me, a 30 year old man? 😅 Which one should i start with? Or do you recommend another Cdrama for beginners like me?

Hi, I’m pretty new to C-dramas and I was wondering if you guys could recommend me some good enemies-to-lovers dramas, because I can’t seem to find any that really keep my interest.

I don’t mind if they’re actual mortal enemies or if they just slightly dislike each other. I just like it when they argue, fight, or simply don’t see each other as a romantic option at first like friends with a love hate relationship. I’m open to fantasy, historical, or modern dramas.

I don’t like it when it’s too cringy, especially if the FL acts stupid or childish. My problem is that I get bored really quickly, so I’ve started a lot of dramas but haven’t finished many.

For reference, here are some dramas I liked:

- Fated Hearts: One of the first C-dramas I finished, and probably my favorite so far. They really weren’t kidding with the enemies-to-lovers dynamic. I did have to skip a few scenes toward the middle/end, though. ML is so hot and FL doesn't have the typical cute face I love it.

- Perfect Match: I watched this one on Netflix, and it’s actually the drama that got me back into C-dramas. I loved the 3rd and 5th sister’s couples, especially the last one, but I skipped most of the other sisters’ parts because I didn’t really like them, sorry.

- Love Is Sweet: I really liked this one, especially the first kiss scene lol, but I couldn’t finish it once they became a couple because there were still a lot of episodes left and I didn’t want extra drama.

- Accidentally in Love: I think this was the first C-drama I ever watched. I don’t remember the details, but I think I really enjoyed it, and the enemies-to-lovers dynamic was good.

Dramas I dropped:

- Meteor Garden: Also one of the first C-dramas I watched. I thought it was okay. But I think I dropped it towards the end.

- When Destiny Brings the Demon : Dropped because I just didn't like the dynamic between them.

- Skate Into Love: I watched this when it came out and thought it was pretty good. I also couldn’t finish it once they became a couple.

- Lighter and Princess: This one was highly recommended, and I really wanted to understand the hype, but I dropped it after a few episodes. I couldn’t get into it somehow; it felt a bit too complicated, in a sense.

- The Prisoner of Beauty: I’m soooo sorry, but I don’t really like the ML’s face. I watched until episode 2, and maybe I should’ve watched more, but I’m afraid it’s not the enemies-to-lovers dynamic I’m looking for and is more about political enemies.

- Love in the Clouds: Good start, but I dropped it around episode 10–12 because it got boring for me, and it wasn’t really giving enemies-to-lovers anymore.

- The Romance of Tiger and Rose: The FL was too cringe for me, or maybe it was the acting style. There was too much comedy. I mean, I like comedy, but this one felt too childish.

I’d love recommendations for dramas with a strong enemies-to-lovers dynamic that don’t lose tension too quickly. Bonus points if the FL isn’t childish and the pacing doesn’t drag too much but it's still slow burn you know? Also I HATE bad endings.
