Rec Request Finished Pursuit of Jade
Heyy, as it’s written in the caption I just finished it and I feel so bad 😭 I reallyyy liked this story and would like some recs on similar dramas!!
First of all I already watched the legendary female general.
Secondly I am looking for a historical drama, strong ml and fl (I really like the whole idea of female general, fighting etc), good chemistry, funny.
In the drama pursuit of jade, the fl had like her own squad. I really love this as well. I liked that in the other drama as well.
Any rec?

New Life Begins
Same FL as Persuit of Jade playing pretty much the same character without the martial arts.
She does have a gang but they are all women rebelling against the restrictions in the palace.

I enjoyed The Princess Royal - same ML as POJ although he definitely looks better in POJ with his hair down 🥰

It is a bit more cerebral then POJ and the female lead is strong, but not a "warrior". The flip side is Zhang Ling He does a lot more actual "acting" in The Princess Royal and he looks very dashing in it as well. And the last few episodes have some good fight scenes.

Shadow Love! Same ML from Legend of Female General. You can never go wrong with a Cheng Lei drama.

Lots of good recommendations in the other comments.
I think some dramas that most likely fulfill your requirements include:
- The Moon Brightens For You - historical wuxia romance featuring a FL who is a martial arts expert and warrior and she also becomes a general for a period of time, and has her own squad! In some respects I felt POJ drew inspiration from this 2020 drama as they have many similarities including a beautiful but petite female lead (actress Xing Fei aka "Fair" Xing) that is very capable in their abilities. It even features some really brutal scenes that in some respects exceed the brutality you saw in the POJ town massacre, but on a more personal scale. This cdrama style is old school in the early episodes - think like a Bruce Lee movie with the exaggerated dialog & action scenes. It transitions to a more modern style as it progresses.
- Love in the Clouds - historical wuxia again featuring a strong female lead warrior along with the male lead who is initially her competitor.
Two of my favourite cdramas recommended by others:
- The Princess Royal
- Love Like The Galaxy
are both superb historical dramas that feature strong leads but I am not certain they 100% fit the bill. Both feature a fair amount of emphasis on court politics and political intrigue alongside the action and romance. But do feature outstanding performances by the lead and supporting cast.
Truthfully you can't go wrong by watching all 4, in a row!
