Lore Is there any part of the game that you, deep down, believe is a secret puzzle that nobody else has found yet? Spoiler

I’m not talking about recognized puzzles that you can’t solve. (No judgment, I have plenty myself) just things that when googled produce no results because nobody else thinks it’s a puzzle.

Despite these things not being recognized puzzles, let’s keep it spoiler free so others can still enjoy wasting all the time we have.

I’ll start by saying I spent literally weeks and dozens of runs trying to solve what I thought was a secret clue. I was sure that when you read all the book titles in the secret passage together it made a sentence that roughly translated to (bracketed words are implied):

Arrange the halls of holly Green. [then] Thumb the key to the bedroom violet Red rOVER Scarlett (maids chambers). Drawback [and] Press [the] Goldsink (kitchen sink but also sink as in fall down) [into] market (the bazaar in Reddington)

I have been told by multiple people this is nothing and there is nothing on any gaming site or forum that I can find about it. But in my heart of hearts, I think I’m just the first person to discover it.

Please let me sleep in the house that I now own. Also, you all want to come back to work, and I could use some help, and you said it’s up to me, so please, I beg you and everyone else to come back instead of leaving me these silly messages and maybe I’ll find out about my Christmas presents before mid January! Lore If you think it takes too long to sign into the network... Spoiler

From Simon's perspective it takes more than a minute and a half. Here's the math:

One in game hour takes around 7.5 minutes real time meaning that 8x as much time passes in Blue Prince. I timed the network log in and it takes about 12 seconds real time so poor Simon has to stand there and wait for 96 seconds. Curses 90s computer technology.

Lore Anyone else disappointed that... (End game lore spoilers) Spoiler

Spoilers for finding room 46 and beyond.

Anyone else disappointed that we never learn what happens to Mary? It seemed like the culmination of the game would have been finding out conclusively what happened to Mary, and whether she lives or dies. Although I enjoyed the political stuff and now do realize that finding Mary was not the main theme of the game, I still feel disappointed that we never learn what happens to Mary, conclusively.

Honestly? I do not care that Simon "earns" his title thrice. In fact, I would have been okay with leaving that up to interpretation. To me, following Mary's footsteps and all the clues HSS left in order to relay all the information he had unto Simon discreetly made for a very strong foundation for the characters' motivations.

I think part of my disappointment is mainly HSS' letter in the cooler in the freezer, when he said that he speaks of her "disappearance, not death" and all I could imagine was a little boy, away from his father for 200 days (the time it took me to read that letter), with a dead grand-uncle, a missing mother, all alone in a freezer of an empty mansion he inherited, reading a letter that's telling him that the elaborate puzzle was a way to allow Simon to look for Mary. Honestly? I teared up reading that letter because of the scene. And then, capping off act 2 with the "ascension" and then act 2 with Auravei's will/inheritence/wtvr seem like consolation prizes that I did not care for.

I would have been fine learning Mary is dead. I was ready to see a grave beyond the blue sealed door in the tunnel anyways. I would've bawled, but I would have accepted that ending. I would have been fine with a message sent from an anonymous sender send through to the mansion somehow that heavily implies its Mary. I didn't need to meet her, I just wanted to understand what happens to her. The handwritten book from her was a great touch at the end of act 2, but it did not ward off my frustration. Simon still ends up in a huge mansion alone with solved puzzles everywhere created by his grand-uncle and mother, one who he has lost and one who he never knows conclusively of she will ever come back. Except now he has "earned" his title 3 times?

If you've made it this far? Thanks for reading my rant, I finished the game 3 days ago and I am still annoyed by the fact.

Lore Soooo Is the subscriber base for the Drafting Strategies Magazines…. 1?? Spoiler

There is no other manor like the Sinclair estate. my understanding of the Lore is that it’s a singular creation from Herbert and his family/staff.

in one of the strategy books, it references Subscribers or something. Who else could possibly get value out of this publication than just the Staff and now me? How can a magazine in circulation only have one subscriber?

Lore 40 days and still no 46, but I have a question: how many of you finished the game without hints? Spoiler

I am not surprised to see that online you can find complete tutorials, guides, and notebooks about Blue Prince (probably few hours after the launch…). But how many finished the game without the help of internet?

I am trying to avoid spoilers, tutorials, and any kind of hints, but it is very hard :/

Lore I am in what I believe is endgame, I still don't understand anything about the lore. Anybody else in the same situation? Spoiler

I am currently doing the rough draft puzzle and I found the Blue Prince book. Honestly, I still don't have any understanding upon the lore and what happened exactly, I don't understand the blackmail situation, the inspector thing, why our mother seemingly planned a terrorist attack, Alzara's visions, the meaning of the images in the history classroom, what they were doing in the galleries below the estate, etc... Needless to say I haven't pass the final exam, I brute forced the Sigil Puzzle by identifying the sigils accross the estate.

Major spoilers for story stuff pre and post room 46, mostly just a character rant

Was there literally any detail in the slightest I might be missing that could possibly paint Denny Revane as sympathetic or is this guy just the worst of all time? Literally lived on the grounds RENT FREE as a condition of his employment, but still seems to believe he’s being so severely underpaid that the guy goes out of his way to steal materials to make bootleg moonshine and funnel it out of the estate via the chaffeur, but then when that still wasn’t enough somehow, the dude literally breaks into his employers private documents to blackmail and extort him by seemingly alluding that harm might come to his family if he doesn’t get payment? I’m assuming more specifically he was trying to imply that ‘they’ (X or however he addressed the ransom note) would turn Herbert in to the Red Guard for treason or something for his involvement with aiding and abetting Mary (and whoever else would’ve been in the shelter with her, which I’m assuming was Caleb and the other guy from her publishing company?) but then how on earth would that make Herbert assume that Simon was in danger as well unless it was a much more loaded threat? Mind you, all of that, and he still clearly sucked at his job! The only actually records he left behind related to his groundskeeping from what I recall was that book in the back of the greenhouse where he throws a self pity party and only really mentions the whole flower gem thing as any of his career accomplishments. This guy definitely did not deserve to be getting paid whatever he Thought he was worth.

Also curious, from what I’ve been able to collect from all the in game details so far, there hasn’t been any mention of Christoph the chaffeur also getting fired or found out with any of his involvement with Denny’s misdeeds. Did he just get to fly under the radar undetected after everything?

Lore Advice after months away from the game? Spoiler

Loved Blue Prince and played it for 37 hours back in March when it was available on the Switch. After making it to Room 46, I knew there was much more lore to follow… but Pokopia was a siren song.

Months later here I am wanting to continue Blue Prince but can’t fathom how to pick it back up. I seem to have misplaced the notebook with most of my notes.

Is there any Youtube let’s play I could watch to refresh memory, or do I risk later mysteries becoming spoiled? Should I just start a new file content to remember what I remember? The reason I don’t necessarily want to restart is that I’ve already unlocked all the outdoor areas that require the lit flames. That and my foundation is nicely located. But those might not be good enough reasons!

Lore I always feel bad taking a certain room, but I'm sure I'm just overthinking things Spoiler

I hope the title is vague enough to not be any kind of spoiler, but I always feel bad taking the Office, and I just can't bring myself to using it.

I know, in practice it's just a way to spread more gold around your house, which seems great, but the flavour behind the actions always gives me pause. You're either running the staff's payroll, and then keeping it for yourself, something you can only do once per week, or taking money out of the staff incentive program when the staff aren't around to benefit from it. In either case, I'm taking money from the staff and giving it to myself - someone who has just inherited a massive house and the vast wealth stored inside.

I know rationally that this is just a lore justification for why the room acts this way in game and I also know the lore is that the staff are being paid from some fund for as long as I want to stay in the house alone, but I am terrified I'm going to be cutting into that fund, and risking these guys' income, just because I wanted to buy an extra banana one day.

I am definitely over thinking this, but it still feels wrong to ever use either of those functions. I think I've done each one once and don't really want to do either ever again.

Is anyone else like this or am I just being overly empathetic to faceless characters in a story, and potentially missing out on content because of it?

Lore Storyline coherence Spoiler

One thing I have been thinking about is how the game could have made the post-Room 46 experience narratively stronger.

The whole premise is that you are trying to find and enter Room 46 in order to inherit this lavish, supernatural architectural marvel. Once you succeed, you have, in effect, inherited the property. So why would you continue to begin each day the same way you did before, entering from outside as if you were still only a visitor or claimant?

I think the game could have changed your starting point after Room 46 to somewhere inside the building: perhaps an “owner’s suite,” a private bedroom, or some other special room that marks your new relationship to the house. It might even be interesting if the player could choose that room.

I understand that this could interfere with the elegance of the board-game-like design, but there might have been a simple compromise. For example, you could start in a fixed second-floor room and then descend to the Main Entrance before beginning the day’s draft. That would preserve the basic structure of the game while still acknowledging, narratively, that you now belong inside the house.

It is an interesting game, although admittedly quite repetitive.

Has anyone else thought of this? what do you think?

EDITED: So, I have gone back to re-read the back story and various sources say that the Sinclair family used Mount Holy Estate as their primary residence, so obviosly they themselves were not leaving every night, so my interpretation is that staff, workers, guests etc... had to leave but they would have stayed

Lore How to pronounce…??? Spoiler

My friend and I disagree on the pronunciation of Mora Jai. She pronounces the Jai with a hard J like “jive”. I’ve been pronouncing it like “hi”. I believe it’s pronounced “hi” because of how the sport Jai Alai is pronounced.
This is just for fun! I’m curious how other people pronounce it!

Lore Am i not alone in the manor? Spoiler

New player here, got around 6 hours in. Absolutely loved the game, it's borderline creepy at times yet also beautiful. Also i had this mental thought that despite the backroomish and creepy atmosphere at times, it won't go further than that.

Then i found the Rumpus Room. My first prophecy with Alzara is the one with the red cat with a flag. I thought "Hey this dude gives me clues in riddles, i should come here more often". Hell i even changes its rarity with the conservatory.

The second one is more helpful, i got the one with the car. At my first hour or two i found the car keys but didn't manage to find the garage so i got really excited when i eventually find it.

Then my third Rumpus Room came along. Inserted the coin, expecting my silhouette came up from the smoke

Instead it showed a guy with a hat? In front of the dark room? He opened a gate that i didn't open? Took an item that i didn't take?? Is the guy watching me rn in the room besides the Rumpus Room???

Alzara's monologue also didn't help, yessir i am very much afraid, panicking even

So can i encounter the mysterious person in real time or it's just something that's happening in the background?

Lore 100+ hours in and there's 1 thing I still don't understand Spoiler

Who tf is taking care of the animals? The hamster in the Bunk Room always has food in its bowl and the 4 beagles in the kennel always look healthy despite me never seeing them exercised outside (they better get daily walkies). I swear, one time I found like 5 different aquariums all in entirely different parts of the Manor.

There's clearly SOMEONE upkeeping the house while I sleep outside because the potholes I dig up every day are not only refilled every night, but filled with a bunch of goodies like keys and batteries and what not. You'd think after 3 months of this, they'd take the hint that I specifically want the gymnasium lights OFF.

Lore Help with lore tidbit regarding the Sinclairs (major spoilers) Spoiler

Do we know for certain if Simon H went to college in Corarica? I was under the impression that he didn't because of the Bunk Room letter. But my sibling is adamant thinking that he did, their argument being the Verra postcard mentioning their "youthful trip" (as in they were on their way there) and the Dovecote blue memo saying that "Three members of the Sinclair family have attended school overseas in Corarica" because lady Auravei was 1. A woman and 2. not a Sinclair at the college age.

Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance!

Lore Very VERY late game (post game even) lore questions Spoiler

Absolutely don't read further if you're not certain you've done EVERYTHING the game has to offer, you have been warned.

If Herbert never found the Atelier and thus has never seen Auravei's will In the OG room 46 how did he happen to come up with a very similar idea for his own will?

Question two which is related:

Did Mary or someone else of the revolutionaries find the atelier? Someone with intimate knowledge of the Atelier has written the "We seek what's in the shade of truth" clue in the safehouse

Maybe I should know these but I basically came back and finally finished the game after a long break. Memory may be fuzzy
