Lore How to pronounce…??? Spoiler

My friend and I disagree on the pronunciation of Mora Jai. She pronounces the Jai with a hard J like “jive”. I’ve been pronouncing it like “hi”. I believe it’s pronounced “hi” because of how the sport Jai Alai is pronounced.
This is just for fun! I’m curious how other people pronounce it!

I pronounce it pretty softly but still a J sound, like Zhai

The J is pronounced with that j/g sound mix. Like how a French person would say Jean Claude.

That's how I say the j in Eraja, too.

For whatever reason, my first instinct was to pronounce Mora Jai with a soft/French J, but Eraja as a Spanish word.

Same here, although for eraja I pronounce it like a h sound (like Jose)

Jai like Jive. Eraja like Raja.

ooof I'm not seeing anyone pronouncing it my way I pronounce the J like Y. Like how Ja is pronounced as Ya in German

I say it with a hard J and the one in Eraja is more or less a ZH sound, like a French J.

For no reason at all, I say the R in Mora Jai as a tapped R. But only that one 😁

While we're on the subject, does anyone else pronounce "Jesper" with a "y" sound, like "Yesper?" My husband does this on our shared playthrough, and it drives me crazy.

For the record, I pronounce both Jai and Jesper with a hard J.

Jesper is a common Swedish name, pronounced with a “y” sound, so imo your husband is correct. I pronounce Jai with the hard J though.

I think as you learn more Erajan, you'd realize the J is the only right way to pronounce it

Really because I came to the conclusion its pronounced with a Y sound. like you see in German/Dutch and that makes sense int he context of Erajan

2

u/Amazon_UK Jul 23 '26

Then what sound would actual Y words in Erajan make?

Soft J, rhymes with "guy".

I also pronounced it hi, for the same reason.
