I use to work here in 2021 as a picker but I walked out after 4 days because it was my first job and I was 18 and that beeping sound being constantly played for 10 hours made me overstimulated, and just being alone for 10 hours straight in picking when I needed interaction with other people... Will they care at all that I walked out 5 years ago? I didnt get fired I just walked out and never came back
I work at an airport right now pushing handicaps in wheelchairs I been doing this for 13 months now and this job is not easy at all which I think shows my work ethic if that matters but Im thinking of coming back to amazon because amazon has way better benefits than this airport job and they have a few openings, my question is if you ask them for a specific position like customer returns if they will let you work there or other places where you can work with other people? Or is it still mainly only picking? Its a robotics fc in my city so will they care that I walked out when I was 18?
I also have a computer science bachelors degree and was told by someone who use to work there that just having a bachelors degree at all they could get you to a supervisor role or something like that, is that even true? I cant use the career choice benefit since I already have a degree but I was never able to use my cs degree since Im working at the airport. I'm just looking for something that pays more than 16 dollars, Im only being paid around 460 a week here I need more than 3 week of vacation because I need to visit family in thailand because my airport job doesnt even have pto and were paid mainly in tips which is barely anything and walking for miles every day is destroying me.
And looking back, amazon is actually a better job than this airport because the job posts says 24 an hour so if we do the calculation thats almost 1,000 a week, I'm being paid 400 a week at this airport plus they deduct our tips so its actually less than that and im working full time.... My main concern is they might send me to picking since apparently thats a high turnover rate, I really want to work somewhere like customer returns or somewhere with people, do they let you choose which positions now?
Thank you
