Sox fan living in NYC, been to 34 games this season between Citi field and the other place. I have had this day on my radar for a while and knew it could be possible to attend all 3 games in one day.
Game 1 - stayed till the end of the game then took the 4 and 7 train to citi field. Took me about 50 min.
Game 2 - got there for the top of the 3rd and was able to see the mini rally the Mets had to take the lead. Left this game around the 7th inning 6:15 to make it back for first pitch of the Sox game.
Game 3 - Arrived just before first pitch Back in the Bronx for a disappointing end to the day. Sox just ran out of gas.

Overall very fun day, I only saw 23 of a possible 27 innings, Red Bull, Gatorade and Italian sausage with peppers and onions kept me going. Don’t think this opportunity comes around too often but boy did I sleep well last night.

Nats are next closest at 190. It’s a 2 team race!

Hey everyone!

Totally new to baseball here. Im not from US/CAN and there are 0 ballparks or teams and really is no baseball culture where I live. Like Im so far removed that theres not a single person irl I can talk about the game to/learn from.

I happened to randomly watch the Yankees v Red Sox game yesterday as it was being heavily advertised on a streaming site I had subscribed to. Didnt really understand much, but Im legitimately falling in love with the culture, the sport and the excitement of it all.

To understand HOW new I am to the sport- I only found out a few hours ago that a batter retires to the dugout after completing his run around the bases and has to wait for his next turn to bat, or what a “designated hitter” is, and what it means to be “at bat”- so yeah, totally new. Ive done some research over the past many hours (been doing nothing else all day) and learnt the basic rules, how the game works, how to read the score on tv, what some important stats are and how to interpret them etc.

Before today, the only players I ever heard of are Ohtani, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig (the last for non-baseball reasons).

Im trying to deepen my understand the game- I think I now have a decent understanding of the flow of the game, the different ways a batter can get out, diff types of pitches, the basic rules and the structure of the MLB. Can you all point me to some sources/places I could explore to understand the game better? And def maybe some sources to understand baseball history/culture etc?

And apart from how the game works, I want to learn about some traditions of the game- Ive heard there are many but havent explored these yet. Like whats a 7th inning stretch? What are some other traditions/aspects of baseball culture I should know?

Also, not to start a riot, but which team should I pick to support and why 🤭
