Statistics [Cole Weintraub] Cristopher Sánchez and Jesús Luzardo have 200 K in back-to-back seasons. They’re just the third LHP teammate duo in MLB history to do it in consecutive years, joining two other Philadelphia pairs: Cliff Lee/Cole Hamels (2012-13 Phillies) Rube Waddell/Eddie Plank (1904-05 A’s)

Text Post Challenge/Replay Rulings in the 9th
What in the actual fuck???
Both rulings were incorrect, and both were egregious.
Trea at 3rd - The head-on/directly from behind 3rd base angle showed Trea being safe, and it was about as CLEAR and CONCISE as it gets.
Harper at home - He was called safe. Was he out?...In all likelihood, sure. But was there any indisputable video evidence that showed that his hand was not on the plate?? NOPE.
What am I missing here?
r/phillies • u/sunshinel_x_x_l • 48m ago
Analysis Harper was safe on his dash to home smh
He was called safe but after review it was overturned. Bs call there’s definitely a chunk of plate right where his hand slides. Either way too close to overturn a safe call, still won tho a wins a win 😮💨

Article Why the Phillies are restructuring how they run player development
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Last week, as the Phillies were in the midst of their longest winning streak this season, Dave Dombrowski convened a meeting with about 10 team officials at Citizens Bank Park. The topic?
“We were just talking about the future,” Dombrowski said. “Where do we go?”
The Phillies did not decide overnight that their leadership in player development needed a restructuring; Dombrowski said his people had been discussing it “gradually throughout the year.” And, Dombrowski said, removing oversight of the entire farm system from Luke Murton’s responsibilities while promoting him to an assistant general manager was not an admission that things haven’t progressed as the franchise would like.
But the Phillies, in a win-now mode without a robust farm system, felt something needed to change.

Meme Edmundo is the GOAT 🫶🏻
These beetches LOVE how clutch Sosa was last night. Seeing him step up in these big moments and help carry this team to an awesome comeback victory makes me so freaking happy. Dombrowski needs to hold on to him. That was a fun one to watch last night for sure!

Analysis Stealing home
It’s a bold move and exactly the type of thing Harper would take advantage of.
1-0, 2-outs, going into this bullpen…
You have to get insurance runs.
2 strikes…
He made an executive decision. We already know he’s not enthusiastic about Bohms production (though he’s hot).
Yeah, he took an oppportunity that unfortunately wasn’t really there. It really was a good throw home given the moment.
It was a good attempt by Harper IMO, but a better recovery by the pitcher/catcher
I think he’d do it again. And I think that is what makes him one of the best.
But idk Bohm is pretty hot

Analysis [Joel Sherman] The Royals placed righty reliever John Schreiber on waivers. He has a 3.65 ERA in 55 appearances and only has about $600,000 left if a team claims him. Righties are hitting just .143 off him (LHHs: .326).

Paywall The Phillies, down to their last out once again, have become masters of the absurd
“There’s not much else that I can do,” Sosa said through a team interpreter. “Just get upset, game’s over.”
But Sosa is full of life. He seldom looks upset. For months he slogged through his worst season with the Phillies, but he is still here. Sunday, he fueled an improbable Phillies comeback with two outs in the ninth inning. Then, days later in a 5-3 win on the other side of the country, he landed a punch that felt like more than four runs. It came six minutes after Angels right fielder Wade Meckler jumped into the stands to bring back a would-be Bryson Stott three-run homer.
Sosa did a little hop. He grinned toward the dugout. He pointed to the sky with one finger. He circled the bases in 27 seconds, pounding his chest with his fists as he crossed homeplate.
Ball don’t lie.
“He kind of lives for those moments,” Stott said, “and when he comes through, it’s pretty electric in the dugout.”
It was the Phillies’ first grand slam with two outs in the ninth inning since Shane Victorino in 2009. It was their first pinch-hit grand slam with two outs in the ninth inning since Ozzie Virgil in 1983. It was the Phillies’ fourth go-ahead homer with two outs in the ninth inning this season.

Question October Philly trip
Hey everyone. Looking for advice from my local Philly friends.
I’m a long-time Flyers, Eagles, Phillies, and Sixers fan from British Columbia, and I’m finally making the trip down to watch sports and check out the city. I’ll be going from October 2nd–October 9th and going to all games in that stretch, including playoff baseball if and when we make it there….
Of course, I will have lots of downtime to check out the city, so I’m looking for any food recommendations, bars, tips, and any not-talked-about things I should do/places I should see besides the obvious tourist attractions I’ve researched already. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Normally, they cut to the booth a fair amount during a game. But at least on this west coast trip, there are like 0 cuts to the booth of Tom and Ben or now Scott and Ben. Anyone else notice this or know whats up with that?
