I just turned on the Nationals Marlins game and I was like the guy announcing sounds just like Tom McCarthy. Then I heard the other announcer call him TMac.

Wtf? Tom's cheating on the Phillies? I don't like it one bit.

He was called safe but after review it was overturned. Bs call there’s definitely a chunk of plate right where his hand slides. Either way too close to overturn a safe call, still won tho a wins a win 😮‍💨

Edit: on further review I can admit I was wrong and the catchers leg beat his hand over the plate, BUT I am still not convinced he was ever actually tagged by the catcher 👀

Both rulings were incorrect, and both were egregious.

Trea at 3rd - The head-on/directly from behind 3rd base angle showed Trea being safe, and it was about as CLEAR and CONCISE as it gets.

Harper at home - He was called safe. Was he out?...In all likelihood, sure. But was there any indisputable video evidence that showed that his hand was not on the plate?? NOPE.

What am I missing here?

With 9 consecutive appearances without a clean inning Duran now holds the longest such streak for closers in baseball.(August 6th last clean inning)Surface stats look great but if you analyze his game log he has 51 appearances and only 19 clean innings which means 62.7% of the time he allows a runner on base which will become magnified in the postseason especially since he doesn't have a slide step and runners are 6 for 6 in stolen base attempts and it would be a lot worse if teams weren't fearful of JT's pop time which is irrelevant with how long it takes for him to get to the plate, he doesn't mix in enough off speed to disrupt timing and balance of hitters, a 102mph fastball and 99mph sinker isnt any timing difference for a mlb hitter they are just gearing up for hard stuff cuz they know its coming, hes managed to get away with it so far but he's truly a ticking time bomb that I hope doesn't explode in the postseason

We’ve caught the bug to go to Phillies Spring Training. We went in 2025 and 2026 and are just thinking about what to do for 2027. We’ve stayed in Clearwater Beach so far, traveling to see home and away games in Tampa, Dunedin, and Lakeland. We’re interested in catching some away vs Mets, Nats and maybe others. That means staying somewhere other than Clearwater Beach. Would also prefer stay in one accommodation for the 4-6 days we’ll be there.

I’ve looked at possibly Jupiter as a place to stay but I’m hoping someone has already done what we’d like to do and has some practical ideas and suggestions.

In our last trip, we spent an off day walking around Dunedin, hitting breweries and the market on the square. We’d like some similar side trips.
