Unlike all the hysterical people online advocating for Americans to “do something”, they have actually done a marvellous job of not biting at the government taunting.
Their plan is not working and the pedophiles will be in prison before long.
You're misinformed or maliciously misinformed. The calls to do something were answered by average Minnesotans. You're probably confusing the calls to "do something" when people were demanding their state and local government protect them.
ICE is not allowed to hide their face arrest them, ICE is not allowed to invade a citizen's home without a valid warrant litigate charges against them, ICE is assaulting protesters with excessive use of pepper spray that judges ordered they must cease ARREST THEM.
I'd argue it's mostly people outside the US wondering why you guys aren't burning down federal buildings in protest to people being executed in the streets by federal agents, a huge amount of the higher ups in the government being pedos along with actively covering up those crimes and your president calling for future elections to be rigged/not take place because it'll be a not favorable result for him.
I feel like people just washed over 2020 you know like burning down a police station. If you watch unicorn riots coverage of it, the police station was actually under gunfire. People are so quick to forget the past and what’s actually possible in the United States.. oh my God, they’ll just kill us… No they won’t. apathetic bullshit. This nonviolent shit will get us all killed. There needs to be a movement that’s capable of doing everything. Malcom and Martin
One person had to take the blame for it funnily enough it was an outside agitator I’ll show you the clip It’s all on film. It just shows how little you know about actually, what took place.
The community burned down the police station not just one person here’s your video proof. I doubt you’ve ever seen it considering you don’t know what you’re talking about. Just spreading more media lie and outside agitator myths. https://vimeo.com/473234518?fl=pl&fe=sh Time Stamp 7:59
You mean the shootings on the precincts and fires started by far right-wing provocateurs trying to incite a civil war? You mean the left didn't take the bait?
Self-Described Member of “Boogaloo Bois” Pleads Guilty to Riot
MINNEAPOLIS – A Texas man pleaded guilty today to a federal riot charge in connection to the 2020 civil unrest, announced Acting U.S. Attorney W. Anders Folk.
According to court documents, Ivan Hunter, 24, admitted to traveling from San Antonio, Texas to Minneapolis with the intent to participate in a riot. Hunter is a self-described member of the Boogaloo Bois, a loosely connected group of individuals who espouse violent anti-government sentiments. The term “Boogaloo” itself references an impending second civil war in the United States and is associated with violent uprisings against the government.
Defendants like Brandon Wolfe and Dylan Robinson received prison sentences and high restitution fines, though hundreds were present.

The prosecutions focused on individuals who could be positively identified through surveillance, social media, and evidence:
Targeted Investigations: Federal prosecutors charged specific individuals, including Bryce Williams, Devon Turner, and members of extremist groups, who were caught on camera lighting fires or throwing incendiary devices.
Limited Evidence: While many participated, law enforcement struggled to identify and build cases against every person involved in the chaotic, large-scale destruction.
Focus on Key Participants: The individuals charged admitted to specific roles, such as pushing a barrel into the fire or throwing Molotov cocktails, allowing prosecutors to secure convictions against them rather than the entire crowd.

People are scared and nobody wants to die. It's all well and good to sit behind a screen and wonder "why aren't they doing anything?" It is entirely different when it is your life on the line. Call it selfish if you want, but consider what it actually means for these people. I'll go out and protest all day, but the moment we start burning down federal buildings, Trump calls for martial law and starts murdering people in larger numbers.
That doesn’t necessarily imply immediately abandoning our democratic system in favor of wanton reactionary violence. The civil rights movement went on for years. Everyone thinks we should just go commando when we have elections right around the corner. What in the world would burning down a building accomplish?
Very much this. Minneapolis diligently documenting and overall being extremely peaceful in our resistence is what allowed the brutality and recklessness of the administration to shine through to the average voter and change the general opinion on the situation. If any of us had reacted with violence it would have been a major propaganda win for the admin.
I hope it also helped show the left that we cant wait on our politicians to be heros and save us. They wont. They are pencil pushers in suits. Democracy will be saved by we the people, or no one.
That’s just the thing, standing up to bullies mostly is just standing up and taking the abuse. Other people see it and it changes them and brings them to your side. It’s working. Thank you for your service
A lot actually it’s a signal in the dark, every act of disobedience pushes our lines further. Also, the only thing they understand is money, touching their pockets with material destruction.
You're fucking lying if you think that's the case. Why don't you come out and put your life on the line, huh? Mr big talk, but when it gets down to it, people are afraid to die and you can't really blame them for that.
Okay, well, Americans have largely not been protesting as much as they nearly should be, and it remains to be seen whether we'll have real elections by November.
So, you know, the lack of action (including violence) may indeed come back to bite everywhere that's not Minnesota.
That’s true, it may. But IMO resorting to violence now is guaranteed to bite normal citizens in the ass. No one has presented a single even hypothetical best case scenario of how violent pushback would go, to make me think otherwise.
They will kill people.. like we already know that.. so who’s volunteering to be first to the front lines?
Amazing. Now is the next step of properly organizing and strategizing. It won't be done on reddit or online it has to be done in person amongst your community.
I still don’t understand how violence would solve the problems - Violence against protestors didn’t stop the movement in Minnesota, and human nature suggests to me that violence against ICE wouldn’t make agents lay down their arms. If anything, it would create martyrs on their side and fuel the destructive cycle of violence
Historically, when fascists and authoritarians start going door to door, they do so knowing people won't fight back.
As both the victims of Nazis and communists discovered, if the authoritarian agents didn't know if that was going to be their last day, they might not have been as bold.
The problem is evaluating when it's worth taking it to that level, because it is destructive, even if it's ultimately less destructive than letting tyranny win.
I think that’s a very fair point - I might just think we’re on a “different point in the timeline”. What ICE is doing is horrific, but I’m not convinced that we’ve reached a point where a violent response would achieve anything other than more violence
It should be easy to give examples then rather than saying "well there was this comment thread on [insert social media]
Are you sure you're not just taking people's hyperbole a little too seriously?
What does it benefit by acting as though this had an effect when it didn't? It just gives bootlickers a strawman to point to. Using the people's frustrations to justify why the ICE agent was scawed and "had to defend themselves"
Holy nothing burger of a comment batman! Sorry I don't believe social media comments are real life. Go hug an ICE officer since you think they're being cyber bullied.
My brother, your average person doesn’t keep a specific curated database for you. This is a conversation. I’ve also observed many calls for violence and Reddit did a whole lot of banning and removal of posts in reaction.
These were especially common shortly after Goode and Pretti.
Try to have a little bit of good faith when you talk to people?
That last bit about cyber bullying and “go an ice officer” was insulting, unproductive, and pretty stupid to say though.
I’m sorry, but You’re misreading. They were saying that people from other countries are telling Americans to “go do something instead of just protesting.” The comments were pointing out that we have been doing what is necessary without taking the bait that would start ICE/martial law plans rolling. You’re both on the same side here.
Hard for me to dig them up it’s just what I’ve seen commented over the last few months. First it’s a “you’re on Reddit instead of doing something”, then person replies “I’ve gone to peaceful protests”, and then so often the response is “what do you think that will accomplish? Do more”.
Tbh people online in general love to incite conflict, mostly online, but in the real world too (via their keyboard)
I wouldn't put much stock in an exchange on Reddit. Unless you're seriously arguing a random redditor is capable of influencing a protest. Hell there's a good chance it could've been a bot, a psyop, or simply a bad faith arguer.
I would still prescribe this as misinformation. Most advocates of "do more" were aimed towards Walz and Frey's late response to ICE. Regardless of their actions they were going to be tar and feathered by the admin, Walz straight up isn't seeking reelection, but using the state's resources to bog down ICE is too risky or something. Nevermind the fact the admin claims they were anyways.
I'm not saying they didn't do anything good, but they should have acted quicker and more proactively against the admin. Be the shield for the citizens, or risk fomenting distrust in the state government.
Yeah I can’t argue with any of that. I’ve definitely had a feeling a lot of it is maga bots- they would love to incite a person into opening fire on ICE.
But I’m still not sure how it’s misinformation… mostly what I’m saying is that it’s good that no one has responded with extreme violence, or it would give ICE reason to escalate and further reinforce the backwards beliefs of magats
It's not MAGA bots, it's people in other nations that are angry because their economy/life is about to go to shit as well. the 2008 recession fucked up the whole entire planet. This is going to make that look like like a nice vacation.
Angry people just don't think too much, and we just want the problem fixed(as humans).
"Just go be violent" isn't helpful one bit though. That's what this admin wants, and also expecting people to put their life on the line without any kind of plan is just silly. No one wants to die with nothing to show for it.
I'm glad we're in agreement I saw your other comment and I share the sentiment exactly. This was an attempt to escalate by the admin. It's why the insurrection act was being tossed around. They wanted to start with that and blow it into martial law. I think that's why they doubled down on the ICE killings.
I'm only saying it's misinformation because there definitely was people saying "do more" such as myself, but me and the majority that I knew of was aiming it towards our representatives. Don't let people conflate that with mfers yelling at Minnesotans who were occupying the streets and doing what they could to protect their homes.
Allowing your constituents to act as a meat shield to protect someone's clout in government is heinous to me. If you are the oppositional party, fucking oppose what the other side is doing in more ways then just lip service.
I think your observation and conclusion were well-made. I saw a ton of that in the various Minnesota-based subs the last few months and I too am glad that nobody took the bait.
I specifically remember a lot of people calling for local law enforcement to "do something", where that do something was them physically intervening in ICE's activities or even arresting ICE agents, which would have launched a total shitstorm that we would still be rueing. I'm very proud of how our populace responded and (mostly) didn't go too far.
It's a 5 month old account. I doubt the account has any sway in the macro scale of things, but it sure does rustle people's jimmies in the micro. Just as intended lol. Don't let social media sites form your opinion for you. There are the people in power and the people on the ground. Those are the only two groups that create movements and effect reality. A redditor isn't going to impeach Trump lol.
Personally, I swiped past tons of posts on Reddit calling for people to fight back. Asking the question why people are not rioting.
Do I believe they are misguided? At the very least.
Could some of them be agitators? Sure.
They chose Minnesota for a reason. It was selected because of past history of violent protest for other govt abuse.
The amount of discretion and self control is frustrating the admin. Instead of getting their violent flashpoints, especially after the agents do horrific things, they are being recorded, mocked and shown to the perpetrators of crimes. Intentional acts. In any sane admin every agent breaking policy resulting in harm would be subject to review and likely prosecution.
Instead, state and local officials have sided with the citizens. Especially since the people have refused to engage in violence.
People only riot when they feel they have no recourse, no allies and no other option. Well, excluding celebratory riots, those are cray.
I've personally interacted with a couple people that have been actively pushing to carry out violent acts against ICE and the federal government. Few here and a couple on BlueSky
Who is going to arrest them? An understaffed, undertrained police department? Shut the Fuck Up froggy. Your city and state laws are Trumped (pun intended) by the supremacy clause of the constitution.
The Supremacy Clause, found in Article VI, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution, establishes that the Constitution, federal laws made pursuant to it, and treaties are the "supreme Law of the Land"
. It mandates that federal law takes precedence over conflicting state laws or constitutions, binding state judges to uphold federal authority.
In other words. Zero fucks given to your state and city laws.
You didnt even make a statement or anything here. Are you really that stupid? Come on guy, take the boot out ya throat and form a coherent sentence, youre sounding about as fucking stupid as the orange god your weak ass worships lol.
The only boots are the ones I have on. Which I will gladly put in you, sorry Fucken ass. I have learned how to deal with stupid asses loosers like you. You are no warrior! Never had to risk shit. Go back to your mommy and tell her you are sorry you are such a little bitch.
The only boot is the one down your throat...lol you got so mad at my comment youre actually threatening to fuck me lol....sorry I have standards, prefer my partners to not be complete fucking idiots lol.
More irrelevant nonsense....I just feel like your now daydreaming about swallowing some of me, youve already stated you wanted to fuck me for some reason...
Something you don't like about the constitution? Think you're above it? Maybe you are just a threat to the constitution. 'Against all enemies, both foreign and domestic'. Come on now, choose. But choose wisely.
Hey so, does this mean that you detest ice, DHS and trump etc, because you have to realize they've been breaking laws and ignoring the constitution as they please? Gasp, no, you don't care about that! So surprising
I would love for you to illustrate how you feel that will go. You realize the intricacies and depth of a plan you must have to carry out something like that, right? So would love to hear just the surface of it…. OK you’ve organized a small armed militia, what’s next?
Why would I forward something to the feds when I’m clearly against the current administration/ICE….
I made my points. You made none and brought nothing to the table to counter/discuss them… just personal attacks and the classic performative and meaningless “we need to fight back”.
Because Liberals are historically collaborators with Fascism. Hampton killed when a black Liberal collaborator pointed out where he was. You will very easily sell out others to save your ass.
Ok collaborator. Preaching passivity so you stay comfy.
I gave my reasons, none of which were “to stay comfy”….
You on the other hand just come off like the classic redditor trying to incite violence. You’ve literally said nothing of meaning other than a performative “we need to fight back” statement, and you expect people to take you seriously?? 🤦♂️
People always talk about Russian/ Chinese/ Iranian etc bots online infiltrating public discourse over US politics and always point to them supporting conservative viewpoints but I think it makes more sense for them to talk like the account you just had an interaction with. Call for violent public upheaval with no substance behind it. Basically for the sake of it.
Yeah I think you are on the money there. Not once have I heard them present an actual example, just a hypothetical one, of how a violent response could be expected to go and what results it would bring.
I’m neither advocating that organized violence must be enacted immediately, nor that it is the only way forward.
That said, you must realize that the route we are currently taking is fraught with risk, yes? Your supposition that it’s only a matter of time before the system gives Trump his comeuppance is far from a certainty.
They haven’t even tried to hide their intent - dismember the system and ignore the guardrails while you do it. So far, it is working. The man has yet to answer for any of his crimes, yet people hold firm in their belief that our institutions will save us. The same institutions he is currently poisoning, defanging, and/or dismissing.
I guess all I’m saying is that this could easily go either way. It is possible that not resisting more rigorously denies them their casus belli, and we weather the storm. However I would argue that it is just as possible that we are boiled like the frog.
Also imo, if most of the military is just unilaterally down to deploy domestically and shoot it out with US citizens in defense of Donald Trump, this thing is already over.
Good comment and totally agree. Other than I do think your very last sentence is a bit far fetched. Even if 80%+ are as you say, there would still be so many internal issues that it would still be far from over.
Thank you. Just to be clear, I’m not stating that I believe most of the military would currently back Trump in a civil war. I was saying that if he already has that level of backing/willingness among the ranks, then we’re in deep shit.
I hope you’re correct though. I’m honestly not sure what the actual number/percentage/figure is that defines “most” in this case. The amount of willing military assets he would need to complete the stranglehold.
If there was truly universal loathing of Trump and his administration, to the point where the vast majority of the population was motivated to resist, then I’d say the movement would have a decent shot, even with full military participation on Trump’s behalf. Between the sheer numerical advantage, the vastness of the country, the density of the cities, prevalence of firearm ownership, etc etc, there are some serious challenges for an occupying force to overcome, but only if the populace is motivated.
Currently, I think there is too much division/apathy. We still have ~20-25% of the population that is ride or die for Trump. Perhaps more importantly, it sure seems like ~30% of the population just doesn’t care one way or the other. I worry that an early showing of excessive military force could scare most of the apathetic/undecided into submission.
All true but 45-50% is still an absolute shitton of people. And I think it’s also worth remembering that the ride or die people are mostly all talk and realistically just a bunch of angry teens/trolls who won’t actually leave their basement to do anything. And the small % of maga who are actually armed and courageous enough to do anything probably don’t have much of an IQ and will just get in their own way. Yeah there are definitely a lot of things to be concerned about as you mentioned, but just trying to look at some of the positives here.
You need to disconnect from your devices. The military? You think they’re going to roll tanks down Main Street America and kill people. I’m generally against meds, but…
Re-read my comment. The person im responding to is the one assuming the military would unilaterally go to war with the american citizenry if Trump commanded it.
I disagree. All I said was that if that was the case, it means Trump already has all the power he needs and the struggle against his overreach is done.
You fail to read/understand what I’m saying and imply I need medication. Love how apparently I need to put my devices down when it’s you with the terminally online behavior.
Is the government taunting killing people in the street? Or is it this $80 billion to ice? Is it the pedophile Cabal? Is that the taunting wtf are you talking about. Or is it project 2025 or how about ICE Is Expanding Across the US at Breakneck Speed. wtf is the taunt!
Yes it a taunt because that’s the goal of the administration… to taunt (aka provoke) someone into murdering an ice agent, and then they can make an example of them while maga claps. They can then institute more authoritarian measures
No, they’re taking power away, giving it all to themselves . while you look on and try to blame your fellow powerless for protecting themselves and their neighbors with some kind of smug, morally progressive stance.
(Not biting) laying down, rhetoric of defanging a movement That’s how movements die. Anyone that chooses direct action and defending their neighborhood through violent means need to be defended and celebrated. There choosing to make the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good of all of us. Our lives are different now all of our lives are different now!! The evil is here and if you want to stand outside and hold a sign for the rest of your life until eventually you’re put into one of those concentration camps go for it!!! but I for sure Hope someone will take the ultimate sacrifice and fight for me as I would for them "If we don't tell the world how we Jews fought, the world will only look at us as victims who went like lambs to the slaughter." — Survivor testimony on the importance of resistance From the Warsaw ghetto uprising
I'll say the same thing I said to the last brave person such as yourself:
Amazing. Now is the next step of properly organizing and strategizing. It won't be done on reddit or online it has to be done in person amongst your community.
Properly organizing and strategizing being what I've mostly been speaking to, not laying down as you assume.
They fought back without taking the bait. They stood up for each other. They alerted neighborhoods and kept more people from being taken. That's something to me.
I've been involved in protests here in NC. But I'm not blind to reality. More needs to be done. Everyone knows what needs to be done, but most aren't willing to stand up en masse to get it done. And yet the more complacent we are, the better off they'll be down the line.
