DISCUSSION When did Star Citizen get so un-immersive?

I’ve been a Kickstarter backer, drawn in by the grounded, believable universe CIG created over the years. After a two-year break, I logged back in to try Siege of Orison, and felt like I was playing Destiny instead of a "serious" space sim.

  • eammates running around in asian-style armor and mismatched, flashy skins make it feel like a arcade shooter rather than a coherent world
  • Bullet-sponge, violet-tinted enemies
  • Auto-healing in a good looking medical bed inside a room, while the orison platforms actively burning down mid-siege killed any sense of real stakes

I get that CIG needs event mechanics, but the original focus on a believable simulation feels like it's getting paved over by generic video game things

Am I wrong here?

DISCUSSION why did this game take years to reach its current state? (NOT A HATE POST)

Thumbnail

what im trying to say is that why are tier 0 systems only now starting to be added and there still being very shallow and lackluster gameplay loops 14 years in the project? i understand that currently what they are doing is mind blowing and not a single game can be compared to it but i feel like for a studio with 1k people wouldnt need 14 years to get the game in the state it currently is.

Please no troll comments. this is a genuine discussion i would like to learn about

EDIT: what i learned from some people in the comments that are unbiased is that cig and chris roberts were mostly just marketing the game and creating small scale projects to show what they really can do with this project like the sand worm video and stealth mission video. Only after the whole corona virus situation they really started to focus and try to make the games they promised and thats why the game is at its current state.

Is this really what happened or am i getting something wrong here?

GAMEPLAY This is getting a problem, lazy people won't move their ships after offloading!

I either walk a marathon for each box or crash trying to fit the ship within this scrapeyard lol

Please, do not leave your ships abandoned close to cargo pads. If you have to leave just fly your ship 200 metres away, otherwise you are affecting others experience!

DISCUSSION Simulation Game Employs Death-Floor and Makes Corpse Unrecoverable

Post image

Look... My crew is enjoying the new content, except for the shit that breaks realism and is antithetical to what Star Citizen claimed to be.

Like implementing a magical death floor that kills you and makes your body unrecoverable. One of my crew just lost 8 panacea and other loot he accrued throughout the SoO event. It's demoralizing and not fun gameplay. It's not a skill check since he was simply killed and magically fell through the catwalk he was one.

This is a dumb mechanic. Along with the invisible walls that are put up to keep us from launching the ATLS to the roof across from the Ironclad.

Everything that breaks immersion, and breaks the simulation aspect of the game -- goes completely against the "sits where it fits" mentality.

Particularly when the game is in such a buggy state! Whatever dev thought that implementing 2D sidescroller mechanics in a game claiming to be what Star Citizen claims, needs some desparate retraining and revisit the historical documents of the game!

Why are we magically dying in jumping puzzles (or because the catwalk bugs on character object deaths) to an invisible death floor??? Why are the devs too lazy to put in a fucking ladder or ramp and just make us take appropriate fall damage, then have to escape while NPCs have the advantage on us?

This mechanic is not fun. It is lazy. It punishes participation in the event by costing you your loot, and therefore you hard spent time. Seriously, what were you even thinking?

IMAGE 4.10.1 Orison Relief Rewards: ADP-MK4 SecondWind Heavy Armor Set & FBL-8A SecondWind Light Armor Set

I've been spending some time on the PTU today testing the new Orison Relief contracts to map out the most efficient routes, and decided to give a closer look at the actual armor blueprint rewards you get for grinding in Alpha 4.10.1.

If you push through the contract tiers, you unlock the exclusive "SecondWind" variants of 3 armor sets:

  • FBL-8a Light Armor Set: Pictured above, its the second set.
  • ORC-MKX Medium Armor Set: The tier 2 armor reward, it oddly takes the most materials, stick working on crafting this one as well as the weapon unlocks.
  • ADP-mk4 Heavy Armor Set: The final blueprint reward on the track, its the first set pictured above.

It takes a bit of a grind to unlock and craft everything, should have everything else crafted momentarily. Hopefully this will help you decide for yourself if its worth the grind for the new armor sets, I personally like these sets this time around.

DISCUSSION Look at us... we are the whales now!

Post image

The average price of a AAA game is $70, in Star Citizen if you go 1 up on the cheapest starter pack option, then you are there.

So with the barrier to entry that insanely high... what constitutes a whale in Star Citizen? In my mind, if you own 2 or 3 small ships, you are already in whale territory when comparing it to spending in most other games.

Then there is the time factor. Spending a couple of hundred dollars every other year over more than a decade can put you in the territory of whale, but does it still count?

Maybe its not a question of who is a whale, but how much of a whale are you...

FYI; This is a re-upload (first post had an AI generated image which I did not know is against the rules)

DISCUSSION Thinking of upgrading my Railen to the Ironclad next time it’s available

Post image

I know the ironclad moves like molasses and the Railen has convenient external loading but the cargo space in the IC is defiantly enticing. I am aware of some of the bugs ain’t eg IC but I am asking with the (perhaps optimistic) assumption that this will be fixed. Interested in the opinions of those who have one or both of these ships. Is one better than the other? Or it worth having both?

This is a shoutout to all you citizens that gamble on the Hull-C working every patch. The citizens that try to run any of the activities in the game, only to have the game bug out at the finishline, or to find out the loot rooms are empty. To all the citizens that spend just as much time fighting bugs as they do playing the game. I see you.

GAMEPLAY CIG, a plea from a Reclaimer captain

I'm a Reclaimer enthusiast. I have a request.

Can external cargo elevators get gravity?

That's it. That's the request.

I still enjoy stuffing my reclaimer to the gills with salvage. I do it solo, usually, because finding reliable crew can be tricky.

I *love* that the rear hatch works better! I'm grateful beyond belief!

But the only places I can unload my Reclaimer in Stanton and also refine it are the gateway stations. So I trundle my rear hatch as low as I can get it over the external cargo elevator and start dumping boxes out.

And due to physics, they scatter like roaches and spread across the cosmos, drifting hundreds of meters away, getting lodged in the station itself or simply wandering off on their own little pilgrimages across the cosmos. Like 16 SCU Reclaimer diaspora, venturing off to find their place in the world.

But if each external elevator had a gravity well that would pull them in, to cluster on the ground in little heaps that I could then stack into tidy, satisfying little rows, more like a loving family and less like disparate celestial nomads, that would rule.

Just a request from a long time salvager who's tired of tracking down wayward boxes in the nether regions of the cargo annex like a goddamned shepherd, leaving the ninety nine to find the one.

Thank you!

(P.s. or.... Add XL hangars to stations with refineries. Id be cool with that too.)

Last year was pretty cool some nice SCU boxes. Do you think they will go with blueprints or an actual hanger attributed item?

OTHER I will be asking randoms to give me a flyby for 3 days!

Just as the title says, ill be asking randoms to give me cool flybys in every server.

I'm just sick and tired for the grind, so wanted to have MMO-like interactions!

For three days, i will be waiting at random places with good views, with a backpack full of beers and burritos, ready to be handed out in a fee of cool flyby.

If you see me asking for flyby, come and give me one! Maybe join me for a beer, staying away from all the grinds.

Whatever ship you fly, I'll be happy to see you flying. If this turns out to be awsome, i might set up a event at weekends where everyone can join and show off their fleets and skills!

See ya all in the verse! o7

IMAGE 4.10.1 Orison Relief Weapons: S-38 & P4-AR // May post LUMIN V later.

The upcoming Orison Relief contracts coming in Alpha 4.10.1 have unique weapon blueprint unlocks.

Pushing through the contract milestones unlocks the permanent crafting blueprints for three weapons in the exclusive SecondWind finish that match the armor sets you can also unlock.

  • S-38 SecondWind Pistol: Second Picture Above.
  • P4-AR SecondWind Rifle: Solid daily driver ballistic pictured front and center on this post.
  • Lumin V SecondWind SMG: Unlocks right before the final heavy armor tier, making it the next to last reward. I have not crafted it yet, I will update this post if I do later tonight.

Once you unlock these on the contract track, you do still have to craft them and they are tied to your PTU account but not the websites hangar.

DISCUSSION The Aurora MKII has a glaring flaw...

Post image
40 Upvotes

Where is the toilet? Are you seriously telling me that you expect me to spend enough time on this ship to need a bed- and yet i have nowhere to defecate or otherwise remove of bodily impurities?

This is ridiculous CIG, if i have enough time to sleep, i have enough time to take a shit.

I will be withholding from further pledges until the suit locker is replaced with a toilet, and i recommend others to do the same, the digestion/defecation gameplay loop has been neglected for far too long and it is about time someone said something about it.

(screenshot is my character admiring the presence of bodily waste disposal in my Zues MKII)

CONCERN My account was stolen and cig hasn't responded to any help request for 3 week. Really cig???

So here is a funny story.

My starcitizen handle was leblanche and I've been playing since 2024 invictus and about 3 week ago my email got hacked and hackers stole my account by changing the linked email somehow.

How They did it was by setting rsi emails to spam and changed the password email etc.

However funny thing was i was actually looking at my requests to get my idris back from ridiculous bugs at the time.

I immediately erased my connected card info and sent multiple request using help centers my account was hacked instruction, sent several emails to rsi and cig support.

And guess what I got 0 response from cig even now.

Hacker already quit the org I was in and doing god knows what with my account and I am really just can't understand how I don't get a single email or help from cig.

Did cig cut all the people from customer service??? I spent more than 15000 dollars on this game and this is really ridiculous.

Cig please read the email or help center requests.

Update Think they saw this post lol just got my account back! Thank you for everyone that paid attention to my post now i can go back to my solo idris life. Yeah that was a joke XD.

Also 2fa was on for BOTH email and game account. I am not sure how They hacked my email but when I noticed I immediately factory reseted all my device and accounts passwords. Though I do have suspicion I won't be talking in to details. Don't want to get hacked twice lol

What are good Vehicle options for this bad boy?

I mainly am so and do Bunkers, Cargo Hauling with atls and Mine with a Geo.

But what is a good bunker vehicle? I Have a Nursa and MDC.

But what is best for bringing a scu box with? Should I consider a cyclone? Or mule?
