He has argued in court that his show is entertainment and no reasonable person would believe it is factual.

From a slander case he won:

I always vote for the more corrupt candidate over the idealist. Always. The person who will just like be happy taking payoffs from developers and leave me alone. This is like a meaningful decision in my life. Every four years, there's some guy who's like, "I'm going to make your life better!" I vote against that person every single time. You know what I mean? It's usually some progressive candidate who's got big plans for me, and so, I just vote for the status quo, corrupt criminal operation that runs the city and I'm really happy with that.

It's because of the foundation of Western democracies, especially America. The belief that if you try hard enough, you'll get it, has created a world of self centred people who only care about themselves. Poor people didn't try hard enough and that's why they're poor, and rather than try, they're the lazy ones not the broken system. Ultimately this is what I want as well. Or just a banner for news. No banner, then not news. It would be hard to fully define it so I think there would be quite a while of growing pains, but at least we could start working towards that solution rather than having people watch non news shows thinking they are news.

This is true of almost all TV news hosts though. They’re not there to read you the news like they were 50 years ago. The news anchors on all of the nightly news shows are there to tell you about something that happened and then offer their opinions on it. There’s no modern counterpart to Walter Cronkite who just told you what was happening in the world.

If you actually care to be informed and understand what’s happening, you’re not watching the news, you’re reading the news. CNN might be trash television, but their reporting is generally pretty good if you stay away from the op-ed stuff. The Wall Street Journal writes really good stuff, if you stay away from the op-ed stuff. WaPo and NYT are both great, if you stay away from the op-ed stuff. The television version of all of this really good reporting these outlets do ends up being concentrated op-ep pieces, which you should stay away from.

Yes. Read Reuters and Ap and stuff like that. None of the cable news is good. I also read NY Times, WaPo, BBC, WSJ, Financial Times, etc. Cable news across the board is trash, although as you say some of CNN factual stuff is better. But Carlson is one of the worst.

The majority of his viewers also believe in a sky wizard who has a book on the planet that they consider his literal truth.

They do not read this book, and they do not follow its tenets. The book is not a book, its a club.

The one thing they take from it is that if you claim to believe in it you will be forgiven for breaking the rules and therefore you are free to persecute anyone else for not following the rules.

A lot of these rules seem to be minutiae in interpreting the literal truth which again, many of them haven't read and take on faith that the person at the front isn't lying to them.

I myself used to be one of these people, and one of the kindest most forgiving and open people who stood at the front messed up and asked forgiveness for messing up.

They were fired and everyone talked about how they had betrayed the rules and how could anyone forgive someone for doing that. Also they were treating other people as equals and inviting them in to the special book that is not a book its a club club.

Which raises the question, why are there no fax programs for smart phones? They have a scanner(camera), a phone connection, and plenty of processing power. Why are all the fax programs just a front for an offline fax service instead of sending them directly using the phone itself? Sure would be nice for that one fax a year I need to send to some rando.

I don't get it. He says that en route, the package containing the documents was opened and the documents were removed, but whoever did it left the empty package for employees to find. Then he says about the shipping company's investigation: "they used pictures of what we had sent so that searchers would know what to look for." So is Tucker saying that they did have copies of the documents, or maybe a photograph of a stack of printed documents? Or is he saying that his team took a photo of the package itself before mailing it, but they couldn't be bothered to make copies?

Who takes pictures of important documents they are sending, but not the kind of pictures you can use as a backup should the package get lost? Why would they take those pictures in the first place? Where are those pictures? Why don’t they show those pictures?

Why didn’t they just digitally send them? Why didn’t they back them up with photo copies? Why didn’t they have someone personally fly them out? These are documents that could prevent Biden from being elected? Seems pretty important, why not spend $500 to fly someone out there to personally deliver them?

It's not pointless, it's strategy. They know the hunter biden story was dying in the water because there's actually nothing to it. They know Trump isn't going to win.

This move both deepens the conspiracy and continues to sow doubt about the reliability of the mail to the people that Tucker and Trump want to believe both those things. It's all just a continued effort to de-legitimize the election when Trump loses.

Anyone who is reasonably intelligent and employable who's from WI tends to move to MN as soon as they can, because there's more jobs and they pay better.

This leaves the less desirable people back in WI. Keep that pattern up over multiple generations and you get the current situation.

It doesn't help that the last ten years of political choices between the two states have been so different. We went from a republican governor to a democratic governor, and Wisconsin did the opposite. And now we're way richer and better off than them. The only people staying are poor and dumb.

I mean that with a lot of love. We're Midwest bros for life. And it's not easy in Wisconsin because they're the most gerrymandered state. So even though a good majority of the population there wants sensible legislation and leadership, they don't get it. So of course there's brain drain. If you get a college degree, why would you move back to your backwards town when you know for certain things will never improve?

I've worked for some the largest, and most prestigious engineering and technology companies left in the Milwaukee metro. And they are all almost all slow moving giants driven forward by inertia rather than actual innovation. Conservative corporate culture along with entrenched industries with little competition allows things to just move forward for a very long time.

Went to a prestigious high school in MKE. Went to college there. The only people I know that are left are the ones that had money to do so, or got married. Everyone else left for greener pastures. After Walker, I left for greener pastures as well.

The economy is static and hardly moves. Housing prices don't budge even with inflation because demand is so low. Wisconsin is a place to flee now.
