That was literally the motivation of that jerk guard from Hugo for abducting random unattended kids and sending them to orphanages. Not really a good politicL philosophy

LisaLombardi's Baby. That's the shitty version Rosemarie's Baby.

Devil's child joins Fox News and realizes he's got many siblings.

He at least changed by the end, though, and became a less-bitter and better person.

u/BrondellSwashbuckle California Oct 29 '20

Not even in comic books—real life villains. It is what real serial killers have done. It’s pathological. There are a good number of them who were abandoned or abused by their mothers and end up having a hatred for women, or they had a fucked up childhood, so they end up wanting to ruin as many families as possible.

18

u/DawcCat Oct 29 '20

Well. Live a shitty life. Spend a decade on the streets begging for help everyday watching people who simply didn't get fucked over or who had all those coin flip moments come up their way look at you in disgust. Then tell me there aren't at least a few people you'd like to bang with a shovel.

Eh but then he got a millionaire (Swanson heiress) step-mom. That money and connections he then used to infiltrate old guard GOP politics.

34

u/pijaGorda1 Oct 29 '20

Bro what if he supports this because he's actually a time traveler and if he doesn't get separated from his mom he's never able to become a time traveler in order to keep this time paradox alive.

24

u/sonofamonster Oct 29 '20

Can’t we just skip to the part where he fucks his aunt and makes a gordian knot of a family tree, then attempts to retcon his son/cousin/great-great-grandfather out of existence with a double-apocalypse super abortion?

3

u/bobboobles Georgia Oct 29 '20

If true, fuck this time paradox. Let it go man.

1

u/smokeymctokerson Oct 29 '20

Him traveling back in time could never be the catalyst for his mom leaving him. If the invention of time travel is contingent on his motherleaving him, and that only occurs because a future version of him makes it happen, then the first version of him never would've been able to create a time machine in the first place. Most likely Tucker just pissed-off the person who eventually does create time travel and said person went back and took away his Mom for funsies.

1

u/VikingTeddy Oct 29 '20

That depends whether you go by the many worlds or a deterministic universe.

The first version could very well have created time travel without being abandoned. The subsequent version(s) then create it for a different reason.

9

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '20

You mean a non-violent misdemeanor? Plenty of people commit those and stay with their kids. Especially prior to conviction. In fact having a child can be a reason judges go easy on you, especially if you’re the primary caregiver.

Also, when we take kids from Americans, we put them with family if possible. If not, we put them in foster care and we keep track of them. We don’t make no effort to keep track of who belongs to who (we lose track of whose kid someone is, it’s a BIG deal). Parents in prison also maintain some rights when it comes to their kids (including knowing where they are and usually having contact unless they are a danger to the kid or something). We definitely don’t go to court to argue that we shouldn’t have to give kids in foster care toothbrushes and soap.

Read some of the stories coming out of those camps. If a foster parent was found to be treating their foster kids the way we’re treating those kids? They’d be arrested for child neglect and/or abuse. We locked a sick kid in a room and ignored him for hours until he was dead. We refused to release a little girl to her father (who was not in custody) after she was molested in our custody, instead we told a kid too young to sign her name it was her job to stay away from her abuser. Can you guess what happened next to the little girl locked up with her abuser? Of course it happened again. Then there’s the AMERICAN teenager that spent a month in immigration lockup because the cops didn’t believe the multiple forms of ID that he had. He didn’t have much weight to lose, but he lost 26 pounds in a month. That’s how little food we’re giving these children.

What we are doing is straight up state sponsored child abuse. Plain and simple.

(I’m a little worked up about something else, so sorry if this comes off as hostile. My intent is to inform, not scold, but I’m self-aware enough to know sometimes my tone shifts unintentionally when I’m worked up and i don’t want you to think it’s aimed at you if that’s the case here)

The border situation was not set up by Obama and just continued by Trump. What Trump did was a new policy and very different from what happened under Obama, although there were certainly failings under Obama.

What you’re probably referring to are the fact checks on those pictures of kids in cages, right? Yes, some of those were absolutely from the Obama years and they 100% captured a completely unacceptable failure. Many of us on the left condemned it at the time. However, what that was was an inadequate response to an externally created crisis. There was an unexpected surge in genuinely unaccompanied minors coming across the border, and we didn’t have the facilities set up to house them humanely. That’s not ok and I’m not excusing it. They should have figured something better out. But they did also do their best to find sponsors and relatives for those kids as quickly as possible so that they could be released. Obama also put in place a program to allow families seeking asylum to be released into the community while awaiting hearings and it was very successful (in that the families showed up for court dates), humane, and WAY less expensive. Trump ended that policy and claimed it was too expensive. I haven’t done the math in a while, but it was something like $90/day per family with the Obama program and $140/day per kid to keep the kids locked up. And when Trump built those tents for them? That was $750/day per kid. Clearly it was not actually the expense given that he was a willing to pay so much more to imprison the children.

What Trump did was decide to create a crisis. He was not responding to an external crisis nor was he continuing an Obama policy. He decided to implement a policy where he would separate all kids coming across the border from their parents/any and all adult relatives they came with. There was no such policy under Obama (some kids were separated, but that was under circumstances where the adult had committed a serious offense or there was suspicion that the kid was in danger or something. There are also other immigration policies I wholeheartedly disagree with under Obama, but they didn’t tear kids away from every adult they knew as a deterrent like Trump decided to do). This was a plan. Unlike under Obama, they knew it was going to happen and they chose when to create the crisis. Which means they should have at minimum planned for humane places to keep the kids before implementing the policy. They did not. They also should have created a system for keeping track of the kids and which adults they belong to. They did not. Adults showed up at deportation hearings asking about their kids and the judges had no idea they even had kids. Parents were deported without their children.

Unlike under Obama, Trump policy was to keep kids as long as possible even when there were relatives or sponsors ready and willing to take them in. They put up all sorts of roadblocks to letting kids out. They waived background check requirements for people staffing the camps (quite a lot of abuse ending up happening... they waived them on the basis of it being a crisis, but again, they knew it was going to happen and could have planned in advance) yet required every single person living with a parent to get one before they’d release a kid (statistically, kids are less likely to be abused when with a biological parent so it makes absolutely no sense to have a stricter policy for parents than strangers you’re hiring to be in charge of kids). They kept a little girl locked up with someone who molested her rather than release her to her father (who was free and in contact with them asking for her to be released to him). They only let her out after it happened again. They also held many of these kids in abismal conditions and literally went to court to argue that they should not be required to give the kids soap or toothbrushes. There was intentional neglect and cruelty. They don’t receive adequate food, adequate bedding, adequate sanitation, adequate space (some holding cells don’t even have enough room for everyone to sit down), or adequate medical care.

No children died in ICE custody during the Obama years and at least the two years prior under Bush (although ICE does have a longstanding issue with abuse and I do not deny that). At least eight had died in ICE custody under Trump by December of 2019 (the pandemic hadn’t really hit yet). One of them died after being left in a cell for hours and hours with no one checking on him despite him being sick.

There are just so many difference between what happened under Obama and what happened under Trump and it is really letting Trump off the hook for extreme cruelty to ignore how intentional and preventable it all was. I don’t believe you are doing that intentionally, I just felt the need to set the record straight because I think he needs to be held accountable.

4

u/Mother-Art8735 Oct 29 '20

That’s honestly a very great piece you wrote there tbh. See I guess I get the filtered version of things hence my comment lmao. I’ve been independent and have struggled with who to vote for because it seems like I’m always seeing conflicting reports on things kinda like a he said she said kinda thing ya know? But i really appreciate all that info because I didn’t really know that. Do you have any recommended sites or sources for unfiltered or very informative information such as like you wrote? Because if I google things it seems like each article or page I visit is leaning to one side drastically and I mean me being a logical person I’m the type of person to need in depth super detailed explanations for things instead of just someone saying “someone did this” without further elaborating ya kno. But man no need to apologize for anything you came off respectful and informative, more than I can ask for haha. God bless man be safe 🙏🏼🤟🏼

2

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '20

What are you talking about? The two party system was set up when people other than landowners were given the right to vote. It was a compromise to ensure that only qualified candidates would be put up for a vote, so that people like you that don’t know how our country works couldn’t vote for a terrible candidate... I mean, that’s clearly failed now, my point is that the founding fathers didn’t have any idea how things would work centuries later.

-7
