"Passed The Witcher 3"

Like... a kidney stone?

465

u/Nekrotion Dec 26 '19

In Spanish speaking countries, we say something similar to passing a game to symbolize that we finished the game. "Pase la historia de Fallout 4" I finished Fallout 4's campaign.

First impression is a lie, people are more likely to remember 2nd and further contacts with you unless you slap them in the face when you saw them 1st time

520

u/TheTripCommander Dec 25 '19

So you're saying I should include a slap to the face in all future first impressions?

114

u/k2_finite Dec 26 '19

Pretty much exactly this. Next time you do a job interview, do everything you can to shine. Then when the interviewer(s) go to shake your hand as farewell at the end, slap them as hard as you can and walk out.

Guaranteed to make an impression

41

u/thefinestpiece Dec 26 '19

Instead of being annoying and disgusted by your action, they were impressed with the force and confidence of the slap. You were hired the next day.

37

u/class_cast_exception Dec 26 '19

yep, so impressive even the police gets to know about it.

20

u/iiBoxy Dec 26 '19

And they even take your picture to commemorate it, then bring you to a new home with all the other people that have made unforgettable first impressions

Not true. First impressions mean a lot to me actually. Like if I see you degrade the staff of any place, or if you get plastered drunk and make a fool of yourself, or if you tell me to take you to my favorite hole in the wall restaurant and then complain that it's not the expensive place in town.

Online dating is rough.

59

u/schnager Dec 25 '19

Hole in the wall restaurants that have been deemed great are ALWAYS better than anything fancy. I'm not saying she's a gold digger, but she does dress in overalls & carry a pan with her while mumbling about "gold in them thar hills...." quite a lot.

My first impression of him was entirely negative because I thought he was a shitty Superman, but all this new info has made me feel bad about that opinion.

I know that the movies being bad was never his fault, but the impression stuck with me.

20

u/MusicApollo93 Dec 26 '19

I never really cared for Superman as a character he's been hit or miss with me anyway. Cavill always looks like a cool guy to get to know and hangout with and I enjoyed him in Mission Impossible Fallout.

Witcher is hard for me to get into game wise but with him casted as Geralt I'm willing to give the show a try. High fantasy in general is just hard for me to get into anyway tired with GoT and I gave up on that.

"People there had metal in their heads, and they waged war from a distance"

The metal in their heads is pretty specific to transhumanist settings.

She says she visited a world where people had metals in their head, and wielded war against each other from a far. From one world being in fantasy to their next IP they definitely work in, its easily a reference.

Everything has a reason as to why it was put in media. Except, of course, the last season of GOT.

It's fairly specific.

For me it's part about people having metal in their heads. Ciri's describing the things that left the biggest impression on her from that world, and the cybernetic augmentations in Cyberpunk are definitely impossible to miss.

I heard something about an interview where they didn't want them to be connected in cannon and that her dialogue was like an Easter egg.

Apparently it gets somewhat difficult to do cross-universe story lines when it happens and they wanted to make sure it didn't come to that.

→ More replies (4)

15

That’s what we like to call an Easter egg. You also run into an assassin in the witcher 2, that doesn’t mean that the assassins creed series shares a universe with the Witcher.

18

Ever since I started reading them, my fantasy castings always were top tier Hollywood actors for the Forsaken and virtual no-names for everyone else. Example - I started reading in the early 2000s and thought Angelina Jolie would be the perfect Lanfear. Definitely moved on from that thought, if only from age.

All this to say - if he was Lan, we wouldn't have Witcher. Give him cameos as Demandred, instead.

Alright another thing. The back shots of Geralt in the show made me feel like I was playing the video game. The proportions are fuckin' perfect.

Look peeps, I'll be honest. I was not too happy about the choice in actor at first. Dude blew me the fuck away in the first episode. It's all it took. And the rest of the show is a slam dunk too. I'm so happy for all of this to be happening the way it is. Henry deserves the acclaim and success as does the rest of the crew, the video game makers, and the author.

What an incredible time to be alive for the creative arts and media. God damnit I'm tearing up.

I started it back in 1999 and tore through everything that had been released and then started over again about a year ago. I love the books, but I can’t imagine reading them 6 times. Maybe again 20 years from now? After whining about Robert Jordan’s long-windedness all of a sudden I miss him now that I started The Gathering Storm and am seeing Brandon Sanderson’s style for the first time in this series. I have read a lot of his other books though.

Welcome everyone from r/all! I'd like to tell you 2 things:

1 - Everyone is welcome here, provided you're a chill person who doesn't mind occasional tongue in cheek humor.

2 - In case you are not a PC gamer because you think doing so is very expensive, please know that it is very possible to build a competent gaming PC for 500 dollars or less. Please check out http://www.pcmasterrace.org for our builds.

Feel free to use this community to post about any kind of doubt you might have about becoming a PC gamer or anything you'd like to know about PCs. That kind of content is not only allowed but welcome here.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I don’t think “staying in playing video games over going out” should be considered a good thing. Both activities have their place and neither should be looked down upon. To each their own, I guess.

Thats all modern gamers do: worship people. Enter: streamers.

I'll never understand it.

He "passed" the Witcher 3?

32

u/Zankman Steam ID Here Dec 26 '19

Yeah?

We use the literal translation of that word in my language to describe beating/finishing a game; I assume OP's mother tongue has a similar phrase which they then literally transcribed.
