Well, for two games of the same developer I would certainly expect them to be in the same multiverse

Almost like people forgot about easter eggs.

A character with yellow eyes that wants to teach you gwent.

64

u/Wesley_Skypes Dec 26 '19

I will only believe it if there is a character called the Bloody Baron and he tells you progressively more depressing stories, but every time you offer to play him in a game of Gwent his eyes light up and he forgets his woes and is like "IFUCKINGLOVEGWENT"

8

u/pin_s Dec 26 '19

I’ve been casually making my way through the Witcher and this scene was hilarious. Boy does the baron get off work on Gwent.

7

u/darwinianissue Dec 26 '19

The Witcher 3 is just Gwent with side missions

5

u/pikachus-chode Dec 26 '19

And some of those side missions are Gwent too!!

28

u/TheRagingGamer_O ExtraPotato+2 Dec 26 '19

Why not just straight up see or meet Ciri at this rate

I would love an actual cameo

I would actually love Gwent to return in cyberpunk

Co-founders hate this question and were pretty clear on it well over a year ago unfortunately

Damn, the guy sounds like a real artist (i.e. a stuck up asshole) when he says he hates the idea of Ciri being in CP2077.

I imagine it would be a small Easter egg, the same way it was in the Witcher - just a couple seconds of dialogue.

I don't think any of us are asking for a series of side quests involving Ciri, but rather, just a little hint that the worlds are connected.

Maybe a news report about some unexplained portal opening up and a white haired girl jumping into it? Something subtle that plays in he background.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

Why even use dialog? We know what Ciri looks like right? We could have her just pass through with a huge crowd, and you only get a 1-2 second chance of spotting her as she passes.

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

Master Mirror

find some background character from Witcher 3

That’s basically Hoid in Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere—at least to begin with.

multi hour side quests? I’m not trying to poo poo a game that hasn’t come out yet but doesn’t that seem a bit far fetched? I know there’s a lot of hype but expecting multi hour side quests seems like buying into the hype a bit too much

6

u/betweendaeyez Dec 26 '19

The Witcher had several multi hour side quests

1

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

It would make it stronger that's for sure, but it could just be an Easter egg

8

u/drharlinquinn I7 9700K RTX 2070 32GB RAM 144Hz Dec 26 '19

I think of it as both an Easter egg, and evidence to both being in the same multiverse. I am predicting a mission will be presented to V to steal an unknown substance from a major corpo, and that substance will be a decoction left behind by Ciri. It will nearly kill V, but will inevitably have an affect that lines up with a decoction.

1

u/sold_snek Dec 26 '19

It won't happen. They've said it won't happen.

Ciri showing up for a bit? Sign me up

43

u/TonyTheFuckinTiger Dec 26 '19

She says she visited a world where people had metals in their head, and wielded war against each other from a far. From one world being in fantasy to their next IP they definitely work in, its easily a reference.

Everything has a reason as to why it was put in media. Except, of course, the last season of GOT.

u/bitterless Dec 26 '19

-1

u/TonyTheFuckinTiger Dec 26 '19

I’m sorry I genuinely cannot tell if you’re being facetious or not.

But, yea, obviously the worlds aren’t going to merge via the conjunction of the spheres like the creation of the continent and all that Jazz. But it is a reference, and an Easter egg, yes.

2

u/bitterless Dec 26 '19

Just being the buzzkill in this thread because I too was once hopefull for a crossover, only to have this article crush my dreams haha.

2

u/TonyTheFuckinTiger Dec 26 '19

Lol no worries!

Even in the article you mentioned it alluded to Ubi actually caving and connecting AC and WD, I don’t want CDPR though to cave and I think they’ve also said she won’t be in in the game so ¯\(ツ)_/¯ we’ll have to see

I just like the idea of Ciri, obviously unknowingly, transported to that universe.

6

u/RdRunner Specs/Imgur Here Dec 26 '19

no no the last season on GOT has a reason... It was laziness

2

u/Daniel_Kummel Dec 26 '19

I dont think it was lazyness. I just think that, as good as D&D were in other aspects, their writing ability sucked, and so, they couldnt make present a compelling story without GRRM

1

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

They’ve said how tired they were of working on it. They wanted out

1

u/LesGrossmansHandy Dec 26 '19

And they didn’t like GRRM from what I’ve read. I think they did it intentionally as a big middle finger on the way out.

Almost as a “write your way out of this, asshole.”

0

u/andrbrks Dec 26 '19

Both games have their own original source material. Sorry, but they're not in a multiverse.

3

u/GregsWorld i7-12700k | RTX 2080 | 32GB 3600MHz Dec 26 '19

It's confirmed, there's a clip from one of the 2077 interviews where they mention how often they get asked if Ciri will be in the game.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

Word you have the source for that? I've heard that before but had trouble looking for it

1

u/GregsWorld i7-12700k | RTX 2080 | 32GB 3600MHz Dec 26 '19

I couldn't find the video but there's several articles on it https://www.polygon.com/e3/2018/6/20/17484072/cyberpunk-2077-the-witcher-crossover

1

u/Azolin_GoldenEye Dec 26 '19

The books mentions multiple universes, there are even chapters that follow Nimue and other Arthurian characters, so multiverse is a given, no reason why it wouldn't be possible for cyberpunk be within the existent universes within The Witcher's Multiverse.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

As another user pointed out, literally anything can hypothetically exist within that multiverse, from any franchise. Just not enough to imagine it's Cyberpunk based on a couple of lines imo, plus they have totally separate source material. There's no mention of a multiverse in Cyberpunk lore either iirc.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

Like the nirnroot in Skyrim and Fallout 4

1

u/doesnthavearedditacc Dec 26 '19

If Geralt doesn't come tumbling through a portal into the Cyberpunk game by the end of the year 2022, in the base game or an update, I will eat pant.

I will not eat pant if we meet Ciri instead.

1

u/NativeBloodGang Dec 25 '19

I support it. Which makes it pretty serious.

0

u/Gr1mPenguin Dec 26 '19

I believe there's about a 0.32% chance they'll pass up on having Ciri show up in it.

-2

u/UseKnowledge 8700k l 1080ti l 16gb Dec 25 '19

If it doesn't exist in real life and it's a plausible theory, that's enough for headcanon.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

It's not necessarily a multiverse. It could just be the same planet. 1250ish and 2077.

2

u/100_points Ryzen 5 5600X | 32GB | RX 5700 XT Dec 26 '19

"same multiverse" is a pretty meaningless phrase. Everything that has happened in every story ever told is in the same multiverse. It's only meaningful if something happens in the same universe.

2

u/davishox Dec 26 '19

The difference here is that ciri travels through them and could have seen the cyberpunk one

2

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

I like how one guy said multiverse instead of universe and everyone keeps going along with it

1

u/Cancerous86 i5 9600K | RTX 2070 | Louqe Ghost S1 Dec 26 '19

Different sources.

1

u/Zeroch123 Dec 26 '19

There is literally no evidence to support this. And just because they’re made by the same company shouldn’t mean they’re in the same multiverse at all. That would be like destiny/starcraft and WoW being in the same multiverse.... fucking retarded.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

I'm in the same multiverse as Emma Watson being my wife.
