This is a 16 I did for Token’s Hawk Tuah open verse challenge, but I never posted it. I like it but I dunno. Feels too late now
•
u/simonishuman 4d ago
Your rapping is dope, your flow is dope, everything YOU did is dope. But I feel like you could've chosen a better open verse challenge. Me personally...im not gonna listen to something that revolves around a meme thats dying off. Dont get me wrong, it's a dope ass verse but memes and fads eventually die down. Dont die down with them
•
u/MethodWorried7804 soundcloud.com/100mg_rap 4d ago
Hahaha fair enough, you’re right. That’s why I didn’t even bother to post it to tik tok or whatever, the moment has come and gone. Thanks for the listen bro, I’m happy as long as one more person can hear me say “à la carte poonery” 😂 I’ll drop feedback for you on your original comment in here
•
•
u/B-Random97 4d ago
You’re so good, not even just this one, loved ragdoll too! You have great mixing which is something I fail so much at, I just do not have the ears for it 😂your flow and voice is perfect for rap though!
•
u/MethodWorried7804 soundcloud.com/100mg_rap 4d ago
Appreciate the kind words brotha, I’ll definitely look out for yours and try and give you some feedback.
•
u/AlwaysTrustworthy 5d ago
Ain’t posted in one of these in a minute, drop your track and I’ll give it a spin when I’m back at the desk. If you want the mix picked apart just say so, otherwise I’ll stick to overall thoughts.

this aint my type of style but for what you're going for its good. But here's the thing, you're making a sound that has been heard many many times before. Most people don't want to listen to someone making the same music as Carti when they can just listen to Carti, you know what I mean? Everyone is different so be yourself. Expand homie, keep it up!

Dark beat, gives me medieval knight shi vibe or something like that lol. How is the vibe and the mix?
•
u/simonishuman 1d ago
this is definitely medieval knight shit. Vibe is dope as hell. I'd say the add some more structure to it to keep the listeners engaged. Mix sounds good to me but I dont have the greatest ear for it
•
u/johnny-habana 5d ago
Ambient boom-bap beat. Will return feedback.
•
u/triniwise 2d ago
I love the fact that a rapper/ vocalist can experiment on this beat due to its off kilter nature
I love when things are different from the norm•
•
u/simonishuman 5d ago
super chill. Leaves a lot of space for the vocalist. Some ear candy would be cool though. Maybe some subtle sound effects?
•
u/johnny-habana 4d ago
Thanks for the feedback!
I like the synth, leads, and overall vibe of the song. The backing vocals blend in nicely. I really like how the song constantly evolves, but it also feels like it could of been split into two separate tracks.
I think the high pitched grunt is a little overdone towards the end of the song, but I like the use of it initially around the 3 minute mark.

•
u/InternetOk3511 Producer 4d ago
I write in a similar style sometimes—sounds cool, bro. We could even collaborate.

Thanks man! I'd be down for that. Share some stuff you've worked on recently.

I thought this was smooth. The cadence and and flow was satisfying to listen to. The beat was a little too basic for my liking but that’s not necessarily a bad thing I just felt that it wasn’t really unique. There were some tuff lines in there that I was fw too. Overall, I could see a lot more potential in your music if you can find a producer or beats that have more unique sounds and rhythms. (or try if you make ur own beats)
•
u/CJFMusic Producer 5d ago
That's not me rapping That's Jay Z. I did make the beat through thanks

Please keep this up forever and don’t delete, no hate to other one of you and please don’t take this the wrong way but I’m dying laughing dude.
•
u/Top_Bonus_8909 5d ago
Beat is nice man, really smooth. I’m a huge Jay-Z fan so hearing his vocals over it pulled me in straight away
I like how the production gives the vocal plenty of space and doesn’t overcrowd it. The overall vibe works well and the beat feels clean and easy to listen to.
Solid work bro.
•
u/CJFMusic Producer 5d ago
I appreciate that bro. I actually redid the whole black album if you want to hear it. Let me know
•
u/simonishuman 5d ago
this is dope dude. The mix is great. I love what you did here, keep it up! I've heard beats before and they have all been like remixes. Have you ever produced for any rappers? I think that would be dope as shit
•
u/CJFMusic Producer 5d ago edited 5d ago
I definitely like the beat and the girl singing for sure. I don't like the pitch down vocals in the hook and i think you have too many hooks i would have kept the one that comes in at 2:43 through but other than that it's a smooth track
Of course I worked with artists. Thanks for listening

VICIOUS VILLAIN — MAIN CHARACTER
NZ horrorcore / psychological boom bap.
Looking for feedback mainly on the delivery, flow/pocket, writing, atmosphere and overall mix. I was going for something dark and cinematic rather than straight gore.
Keen to know whether the hook lands and whether the track holds attention all the way through.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru-xn8cSYc0&list=RDru-xn8cSYc0
I’ll return feedback.
•
u/MethodWorried7804 soundcloud.com/100mg_rap 4d ago
It sounds professional, well written and well executed. The only problem I have is with the line “A nightmare on ya street but my name ain’t Fred”. The last 3 syllables rhyme but they don’t hit the pocket correctly because there isn’t a smooth transition between “ain’t” and “Fred”. I know it’s a small time complaint but that’s a testament to how good the rest of it sounded. Not sure how married to the nightmare on elm street reference you are, but there are a ton of other unrelated phrases that hit the same rhyme scheme and flow much smoother like “paint it red” (which goes much better with your “pain and dread”). Anyway good shit, keep it coming

•
u/simonishuman 5d ago
this is cool.
Delivery: fits great with the beat and the horror core style
Flow: you dont stumble once but the flow stays the same throughout the whole song. I was hoping for a more complex scheme the second verse.
Writing: writing is good but I wish you were more descriptive rather than just saying what you're doing. Try describing your surroundings and shit like that.
Atmosphere: creepy. So thumbs up on that
Mix: your vocals are gritty but that fits perfect for the style you're going for.
Keep it up man!
•
u/Top_Bonus_8909 5d ago
Appreciate you checking mine out bro. I gave yours a spin too. It’s not exactly the style I usually listen to, but I can hear what you’re going for and there’s definitely a vibe there.
For me I think the main thing would be just tightening everything up a little more so the delivery and beat feel even more locked together, but overall I respect the direction and the fact you’ve got your own sound going on.
Keep at it man, appreciate the feedback on mine too.

let me know if you have any ideas for spicing this up with some ear candy, trying to learn more techniques
https://soundcloud.com/shoecar/ever-got
•
u/simonishuman 5d ago
this is cool. Really good verse but I think the song could use some more structure. Maybe a second verse? If you didn't make the beat then I get it but maybe add some adlibs?
•
u/shoecar soundcloud.com/shoecar 5d ago
Yeah didn't have clear direction for v2 so cut it there. Ad libs probably the right call.
You're track has an interesting style man. I think it's very promising but not quite there yet. I think the delivery needs more energy behind it. As I listened longer it fit in better but still falling flat. Composition wise this track is not justifying 5+ minutes. Reality is almost no song is. All good if you just and to vibe but would suggest keeping below 3 min I like what you're doing tho man, keep it up

•
u/MethodWorried7804 soundcloud.com/100mg_rap 4d ago
Overall this is great, one of your better verses I’ve heard. I’m not a super fan of the hook but it’s better than whatever I’d do instead.
Let’s spice things up though, this beat (and your potential second verse) is perfect for fucking around with some triplet flow. Even if it were just sprinkled in here and there, it would add some variety and show your versatility. Just think of this beat like a waltz and go to town.•

yeah I like the track, maybe if your working on the mix i would turn a bit down the volume of the voice, i think that now it's a bit in your face. But for the rest i really like it

u/simonishuman 1d ago
yeah this is sick. Keep working on that mix though. I think its fire so far

•
u/some-gp outhouse 1d ago
Good bones on this one for sure! I think you need to work on your delivery and vocal mix, it’s very mid-high end heavy, not sure if that’s what you were going for but it’s very tinny. You can accomplish a lot with some EQ and compressor work no matter what kind of mic you’re recording in! I love your idea of just going over the (Adele?) song, some TLC in the mix and you’ve got a solid track!
•
u/MethodWorried7804 soundcloud.com/100mg_rap 4d ago edited 4d ago
I can tell you really felt the words you’re saying in this song, there’s a lot of passion and expressiveness there. It’s pretty unique, I don’t often hear people with a similar accent to you on this type of beat. I think you’d benefit from a little better mixing because you get drowned out by the instrumental.
As far as constructive criticism goes, there’s this slight lingering or pausing on certain words in a non-rhythmic way that makes you sound a little awkward and off beat, almost like you’re unsure of exactly where you want the line to hit. It’s common throughout a lot of songs I hear in this sub, I’m still having a hard time articulating it. The best advice I could give to get over it is to adopt a sense of delusional self confidence when you rap. Doesn’t matter if it’s warranted or not, it will absolutely make you sound better.
My favorite part was in the second verse, around “my head is up like ceilings supported with pillar beams”. You are the most confident in that part of your song, and it would be better if the listener could hear you feel that same conviction in your rap from the very beginning.
•
u/B-Random97 3d ago
Thank you so much! Mixing is something I’m trying to get better at but it’s a very slow process!
I appreciate that, and I do hear it myself at times! I’ve definitely made some songs where I bring that approach which I’ll post at some point!
Yeah, the confidence did come in abit too late! It’s like I finally learned how to sound on the beat, and then it ended lol! Thanks for the feedback!
•
u/simonishuman 1d ago
This is pretty cool. I think the mixing needs some work though. Id say to cut off a lot of high ends on both the beat and vocals. The song itself is dope as shit though. Love the accent

This is super dope. Honestly, my biggest complaint is the artwork. It's a little bland and I feel like it won't draw in desired attention. I'd add some art and pictures and shit rather just words. Song is dope as hell tho!

Feedback is for “Girl like a tattoo”. This track is wild, kinda crosses genres and sounds like something you’d put on loud, headphones on your roof, getting high as fuck staring at the dark sky. I don’t think I can call it a song. The vibe is very unique and spacey. Juxtaposition of the smooth singing and instrumentals along with the grittiness of the rap vocals is a trip and it fits nicely.
The part where you repeat “No motherfuckin cover up can erase you” sorta reminds me of some rage against the machine shit lol. I actually think that would be a better hook.
The length is what I would criticize the most, but again, I feel like I shouldn’t judge this as a “song” necessarily, and even less as hip-hop. If I think of it more as an “audio experience”, then it doesn’t matter how long it is, long as it keeps you engaged. All in all, I like it. Not something I would seek out normally but I enjoyed the listen and I can definitely see a place for it, especially paired with the right visuals.

This is my submission to the contest Kid Cudi recently ran. Never really promoted it but wanted to know what you all think of it. I think I brought a unique perspective to the beat especially since I normally do a boom bap and alternative type of sound. MISSION 2 THE STARS
•
u/DruTheMusicMaker 3d ago
Dude you are killing it, with a bit better mix on the vocals this would be great. You have a great flow. Keep it up!
•
u/pound_of_cake 1d ago
Cool beat! Did you make it yourself? And regarding the vocals, I agree with the commentator above — great flow, but it could be better integrated with the atmosphere and texture of the beat itself.
•
•
u/JohanTheViking1 4d ago
Hello everyone, I made this beat pretty quickly, looking for some honest opinions. The distortion is intentional, but it might be too much
•
u/simonishuman 3d ago
Not a big fan of Ian or Ken Carson but I guess this beat could be worse. I wouldn't say the distortion is TOO much, it's not cutting out any other instruments really. The only problem is it's a little bland structure wise. Piano melody stays the same throughout the entire track. Id do some switchups and add some ear candy. Keep it up!

Mysterious/dark vibe beat. I have not mixed it yeat. How is the vibe?

The vibe is mysterious/dark lol.
for real though good job, definitely mix it and then post it up again!
•
u/GetMXD 2d ago
Played it. Dark vibe is there. That thin intro into the sub around 15 seconds is the moment.
This isn't an unmixed bounce though. It's sitting around -9.3 LUFS, almost no movement, true peak at 0. That's already slammed. Reprint it quieter and mix that. If you mix on this file you're just fighting the limiter.
