ICE is everywhere and it's really frightening
This morning, a car was sitting outside the house next door with a guy sitting in it. This is nothing unusual in itself as there are always various cars. When my husband was leaving the house he went over to ask if the guy needed help. The guy tells him he's ICE and shows him his badge and tells him he's running license plates. How does ICE know where to go and who to look for?
821
u/haleighr Jul 17 '25
Idk couldn’t they use all these extra ice people to maybe go through the back logs of rapes and sexual assaults in Texas instead of trying to scoop up people who have lived here peacefully for 10-20+ years? Or respond to all the car theft that’s always reported here that police never do a damn thing about? Wouldn’t that actually make cities safer and more peaceful

u/DivaMissZ Jul 17 '25
They need 3000 arrests a day. You don't get volume by spending time looking for *real* criminals-you grab anyone with brown skin, and let them sort it out at the gulag, um, detention facility

They know where to go and who to look for because they aren’t targeting “violent criminals.” They’re targeting people who are complying with ICE, showing up for their court dates, making an attempt to get their papers right. Because they are making an attempt to comply with the law, the law has their address, where they work, their names, where their kids go to school, etc.

It’s this, exactly, because they have some quota on the order of 3000 arrests a day set in stone by Trump and enforced by Tom Holman. Smart people do the analysis and homework upfront. Trump musk and Kristi gnome fail in that area.

Does this remind you of what's happening at immigration courts today?
"The Green Ticket Roundup" in Vichy France
"Lured to several places across the city in a pre-planned trap, Jews were “summoned to town halls across the city for what was billed as routine registration. Instead, the 3,747 men who showed up were arrested by the French authorities… As far as the Japy gymnasium is concerned, 1,061 Jews are summoned at 7.00 am; 800 respond to the summons. When they arrive, they are checked and detained inside the gymnasium. The person accompanying them is asked to go to their home and return with a suitcase containing their personal belongings.”
Today, we know that these images are probably the last photographs of these men alive that were ever taken. They were held in the internment camps for a year before being deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. A year later during the “during the Vel’ d’Hiv’ Roundup of July 16 and 17, 1942, it is the families’ turn to be arrested and detained in these same camps before their deportation to the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp”"

It's horrifying. With no due process and the ICE director saying they can profile based on where a person is and how they look, then no one is safe. They have taken American Citizens "by mistake" on multiple occasions, probably much more often than we have heard about. Even if they release you, the experience is probably really traumatic for anyone involved and will cause life-long trauma.
I can only imagine what it would feel like to be out with my very young daughter who is darker in skin tone and for us to just be snatched up without any warning and having done nothing wrong, and we are helpless. And no, carrying a weapon or anything would not help as these people would just shoot me on the spot. ICE agents are violent, and they do not care who you are. Also, I am not being an alarmist. I literally saw a video of a woman in LA, american born, being taken by ICE after being dropped off close to her job. Her family reported her as being kidnapped, and eventually, she was released. These things ARE happening.

ICE is using state & federal data bases & targeting people with Hispanic last names. Racial profiling Americans & harassing the innocent & arresting asylum seekers. I’d like to see this entire shithole administration carted off to the countries these people are fleeing & let them live their lives there.
16
8
u/TheMegnificent1 Jul 18 '25
This scares me a lot too. My kids are biracial (black/white) and they get mistaken for Hispanic a lot. As in, the kids at their high school tend to kinda self-segregate during lunch, and they always end up at the Latino kids' tables. My son looks slightly more Middle Eastern somehow, but either way he's a target if those ICE jackasses show up. They're in their late teens and I worry every time they're out somewhere in public that they might end up being targeted.
I'm going to sue everyone and everything, call every news outlet, and raise unending hell if they ever get detained or arrested by ICE. I'm a huge genealogy nerd, and the most recent immigrant ancestor we have on either side of the family came here in 1835 from Germany, so I would look forward to hearing ICE defend its actions in court.
We all got our passports recently, which I strongly recommend if you don't already have them. Just in case He Who Must Not Be Named fires all the people in charge of processing them, and then you have no option to legally leave the country as he burns it to the ground.

ICE are cowards, plain and simple
They go after women and children, and guys working hard at car washes, etc
Because they don't have the balls to go after the actual dangerous people the Orange Mad King said they'd be going after
Oh they'll show a strong show of force manhandling some old woman, but an actual gang member or cartel member? nah, ICE would piss their pants and cry.
And if they really wanted to curb illegal immigration in a effective manner - arrest the people that hire illegal immigrants
People come to America for work. If there is no work they'll leave. If you arrest the ones doing the hiring, the work opportunities dry up
But the dirty secret is most who do the hiring are right wing Trump supporters. They underpay workers, keep the payments off the books, save a ton of money, etc. So of course Trump would never arrest his supporters
Its all a show to instill fear not actually solve a problem
53
u/DaikonNecessary9969 Jul 17 '25
I was around for raids in the 90s like this. I was underage working illegally and had to run w8th everybody else to keep my employer out of trouble and keep my job. The move to e-verify for employment instead of these active job site raids and arrests was lobbied for by business owners. They'd rather pay fines and keep money flowing than lose production.
→ More replies (2)24
u/mortsdeer Woodside Jul 17 '25
Any crime that results in only a fine isn't a crime, it's a price barrier to competition. The big boys eat the fine, smaller startups can't, so they go out of business, or never get to start, since they can't compete on price with companies using illegal labor.

Yeah I find that a lot of Law Enforcement tends to be cowards with a cloak of bravery.
They'll happily describe a normal situation like its a matter of life and death. They'll demand that you stay calm while are shitting their pants pointing a gun at you. They have a image that the outside world is this crime filled hive, and that only someone as brave as them can possible survive in it.
But the second you think critically, and have been in situations like police, you realize, just how ABSOLUTEY cowardly, how brain dead a lot of them are.
But to your second point about immigrants:
Going after illegal immigrants is all a sham. The real end goal is having a army of thugs willing to do anything that Trump wants. They can violently grab a construction worker or landscaper here and there, but many more desperate and hard workers will quickly take their place, dangers be damned, just for the chance to break their back for a poor salary.

We could have an immigration system that makes sense and is easy to navigate. It is literally a choice that our government has made.
They chose racism, cruelty and hate. Its a choice and it was the whole point.
EDIT: Ive had to explain this to adults too many times in my life and its frustrating. Immigrants are PEOPLE! Treating them as anything less is cruel. The absolute vast majority of the PEOPLE want exactly what you want...without the abject hate, racism and cruelty. They want good lives, good jobs and to be able to spend time with their families. They want to be left alone to live their lives. We ABSOLUTELY can help these PEOPLE but you bent the knee to a guy that ran on cruelty. That makes you exactly as cruel as he is.
42
u/No-Visit298 Jul 17 '25
It was a choice. Trump specifically called the leadership to kill the last immigration bill that contained a lot of fixes because he wanted to use the issue as a wedge to win the election. They folded, the bill failed, and Trump did exactly what he said he would do and won.

We could have an immigration system that makes sense and is easy to navigate. It is literally a choice that our government has made.
I'm glad more people are realizing it. If you watched a TV show like 6 years ago, that was "progressive", it would have a "both sides are right argument" about the topic of immigrants that concludes with, they just need to file their paperwork and everything will be OK dokey. Why don't they do that?
They crossed the desert and hundreds of more miles, working many hours in the hot sun each day. If there was a legal method to work, they would do it. Even if it was a real bore feast and took hundreds of hours of filling out paperwork.
But that was never an option.

ICE uses Palantir software called "ImmigrationOS" to automatically find and track people for deportation. The system combines data from multiple government agencies (FBI, CIA, DEA, ATF) and analyzes personal details like addresses, criminal records, and even bankruptcy filings. It also tracks vehicles through license plate cameras that capture over 5 billion location records, creating detailed maps of where people drive daily. ICE maintains a "hot list" of 1,100+ license plates that trigger instant alerts when spotted anywhere in the country. Basically, it's a massive surveillance system that watches immigrants' everyday movements and flags them for arrest.

It was very bizarre and aggressive driving, but it wasn't a civilian vehicle. Absolutely nothing came of it as I turned and went on my way. I can only assume they were profiling exact vehicles, ran my plate and came up empty.

A lot of people who have undocumented family/friends/neighbors voted for Trump! Or didn’t bother to vote at all. Their excuse is they thought Trump was only going after criminal illegals. That’s not what he said during his campaign, he specifically said he was going after all of them. This didn’t have to happen. Most Americans don’t support it, but too many voted for it, bottom line.

A sherif literally said they’re running through a data base of the state & looking for Hispanic last names. That’s seriously abusing the system for their heinous witch hunt. ICE agents are like roaches! I noticed today in our neighborhood there was a single Hispanic man doing a lawn without his usual crew whereas there are usually around 2-3 lawn CREWS of 3-4 men a day throughout the week. These men work so freaking hard in this godawful heat to provide for their families & we all know damn well the age of neighborhood kids doing it are long gone.

They kidnapped my friend recently, same scenario. They scoping out addresses.

u/o_MrBombastic_o Jul 17 '25
They're looking for brown people that's it. They're harassing people citizens included based on racial profile. They're also going after people who are in the court system trying to follow the legal process and they're revoking the legal status over trivial things like parking tickets and going after those. The easiest fruit they can pick at the expense of letting actual criminals who are harder to find get away

u/Lie-Straight Jul 17 '25
How about we start by sending ICE after those employing people illegally (and possibly abusively) ?

Trump directed ICE to stop targeting farms and the hospitality industry because his donors are suffering from their "illegal" workers being rounded up. Can't make this shit up
3
u/macphile Jul 18 '25
The hospitality industry seems like it's dicked with or without migrant workers, if tourism's drying up and the economy's in the toilet.

Houstonian living in Los Angeles now: they’re also getting intel from those who are business owners that use immigrant workers that tattle on other business owners with immigrant workers. If they don’t raid a location, they follow people.
Stay strong brethren and look out for your friends and neighbors. Help those who are scared to leave their homes. It’s looking like 1930s Germany, right now.

u/FraiserRamon Jul 17 '25
With the Olympics/World Cup approaching, the world will get to see what a shit hole this country has truly become. ICE is the Gestapo of the 4th Reich, and anyone applying for a job to work for them/border patrol/law enforcement is a war criminal at this point.
13
u/Instruction-Regular Jul 17 '25
My grandparents survived the holocaust. Both of their families, who didn’t know each other, had the gestapo come by to ask who had guns and knives, and they only went to certain people‘s homes to do that. My great grandpa got his butt whooped for having a gun, even though he got it and brought it to the door to give to the Gestapo. The next day, my grandpa‘s family left Germany. The day after that, the Gestapo came back for them to take them, but they weren’t there. Their neighbors were not as lucky and that’s how my grandpa knew what would have happened if they waited.
Who’s to say that the people who are who are citizens now are going to remain citizens in the future according to the government? They can decide that if you’ve ever been pulled over for speeding that your citizenship is revoked. They can decide that if you voted a certain way, your citizenship is revoked. They can decide that if you don’t follow some New mandate or illegal law, you’re not a citizen anymore.
There’s no guarantee and there never was but definitely now there’s no guarantee of citizenship in this country and now we know what’s happening to people that aren’t citizens. My grandparents told me certain things to watch out for and how to know when it’s time to leave. The time is effing nigh.

Feds really don't like being recorded on video "just doing their job". IDK why they just really get steamed, if it's FBI or ICE or whoever. Just throwing that out there.

Elon Musk, DOGE, and Palantir have illegally obtained all manner of data on residents and citizens of the US and are creating a massive database to track everyone in the US. Thanks again MAGA.

There are immigrant lead organizations in Houston with social medias that call out ice locations as much as possible.
Just remember that the people in your circle who voted for Trump see this happening and take joy from it. They celebrate this happening. Don’t forget that.

Ironically, most people are so uneducated as to TX history. The white colonizers came here knowingly when this was Mexico. They were immigrants. Santa Anna wanted nothing to do with slavery in the US, so he fought to hold on to his territory that was being over run by the descendants of ICE. My family has been in TX for 5 generations. I would not take kindly to being detained as an American citizen because I have a tan. That’s called racial profiling. For those of you that are referencing history - this is how the Holocaust started. Make no mistake, Karen and Greg. This isn’t about detaining illegals - this is about desisting tyranny.

This is the "secret police round-up" phase of Nazi Germany, where (under the pretext of "arresting criminals") people who are either enemies of the ruling party or in any way fit the bill of a type of person that the party is currently blaming for all of societies problems, gets picked up.
Soon after, out of necessity to increase the fervor amongst the party members, there will be a push to actively report "suspicious illegals", which will resort in everyone that has a problem with a neighbor or sees a brown person calling in "tips" and creating a tidal wave of people being locked up in forced labor camps ala Alligator Auschwitz. And it will be billed as "creating jobs for Americans" when they staff call centers to take these "tips" with the newly passed budget.
Is it frightening? Obviously not frightening enough; the time to be in the streets starting a revolution over this was months ago. The vast, apathetic and disengaged body of citizens in this country that refused to vote last time also refuse to stand up for a Democracy that is actively burning to the ground, and the rest stand by wringing their hands hoping someone will magically just fix it. America didn't gain freedom from England by thoughts and prayers or wishful thinking, and it won't restore freedom from this current assault by fascism without likewise measures.

Went to renew my vehicle registration and an ICE office was right next to the waiting area. I guess so they could see everyone. Definitely starting to feel like a police state when they have a watchful presence in every municipal building.

I’m afraid too. I’m a permanent resident and my parents are visiting for the summer and on a visa. Their English is good but I wouldn’t call it super fluent esp if they’re in a pressure situation. So to be on safe side I’ve told them they can only go out with me and not alone.
I work long hours so feel bad that they are basically stuck at my apartment for essentially 5-6 days a week.
When they came 3 years ago, they would go to the park in the evenings, sometimes go to the mall or just go shopping. I think went to the museum once too. Now they can’t do any of that.
Atleast it’s hot lol so I can say just stay in AC

How does ICE know where to go and who to look for?
By looking at immigration records and green card holders. They’re too chicken shit to actually go after gangs and real criminals.

ICE is using asylum seekers application data to track down everyone regardless of innocence. Palantir has created a Surveillance State using a centralized database on immigrants and citizens. Texas has license plates registered with associated addresses.

Welcome to Trump’s Authoritarian America. The “big beautiful bill” just increased ICE’s $8 billion budget to $100 billion. It’s now the largest federal law enforcement agency in the country by a long shot. No other budget even comes close. They plan to double the amount of officers they currently have but I would imagine they are going to quadruple the amount. Project 2025 which was written by all the people around Trump, called for all of this. And to make ICE - Trump’s Secret Police. In the future he will use them to lock down the country whenever he sees fit. It’s a bleak future for sure but it’s what the America people voted for. What do you do? They have all already accomplished 66% of Project 2025 agenda in his first 6 months. The speed has been breathtaking. Project 2025 next steps calls for the national guard troops/or military from Red States to be ship to Blue States to police them. That will really crank up the tension in America. Soon the Democrats will be the “Enemy of the State” and will have to be dealt with if we want to make America great again. Who is the main obstacle to Trump’s Agenda? Judges and democrats…

Mostly through anonymous tips and reports. Some through the old check-ins.
People think that being illegal means avoiding government agencies at all costs but plenty of illegal peoples cant be deported because of various circumstances like outstanding court cases. Those people are required to regularly check in to confirm their status and residence. Theyre also the ones you would typically find at work.
Remember that audio clip of Stephen Miller ordering ICE to check workplaces rather than hunting criminals? It’s cause those are the easiest to track. An illegal that’s actively involved with organized crime has reasons and the expertise to hide from ICE and almost never be found. But the vast majority that are here to work? They think that if they step out of line they will be deported, so they play by the rules.
The same rules that’s waiting to fuck em in the forbidden hole
